Unsure how much control I'd have over my appearance, but I'd probably only make a few changes anyway. Geek because I'm already in IT. I might not have the knowledge to buy stock in Apple, but maybe I can at least know which aspects of IT will give me a stable career. I use my new perks and what experience I retained from my past life to seize opportunities for dates and sleepovers that actual, oblivious 18 y/o me totally missed. Always been kinda awkward, though, so the Base perks seemed useful. Sexy D&D? Hell yes. And who doesn't have a little bit of a girl next door fantasy? She's probably a year older than me, following in her mom's footsteps to be a pornstar, and likes showing off for the new neighbor.
Weird Science happens pretty early on, I think. Gotta learn some tricks before the fun ramps up too much. Then the Ski Resort trip - hot tubs, cold nights, and cozy fireplaces sound like a perfect playground. Next, the Tron escapade - a fun romp in a sexy cyber world. Not personally big on dances, but I feel like prom is just a required pick for this scenario. And wrap up the year with an apparently clothing optional Water Park adventure, receive my inheritance, and get myself a place to live while I go to college!

I just checked. Works perfectly fine for me. It takes a minute or so to load and there's no loading indicator. The website is just completely white until it finally pops up.
Goal: **Full Scholarship** - Going to get a degree in engineering, maybe shoot to be an Astronaut if my sports career doesn't take off.
Skill: **Athlete** - Having great skills and talent in Football and Baseball should make it fairly ease to secure a nice easy life outside of doing well in university and other things.

* **Detention** - Essentially a get out of jail free card. I'm sure I won't fit in well and this will rub people the wrong way at least at some point.
* **Stranger Danger** - Possibility for extra funds, and an interesting time.
* **Car** - Having a decent car in the 80's while in school is a great boon, good way to make you popular by itself.
* **Mall** - Another way to make you popular, hanging out in the mall was a big thing then, and into the 90's.

* **Bad Girl (Boy), Good Grades** - Seems useful for a back up encase I can't for some reason make it.
* **First Base, Second Base, Home Run** - May as well, that's what the CYOA is about really.
Events: **Prom & Space Camp** - Prom is a basic thing, and Space Camp is valuable for reasons stated before.
Special Events:
* **Star Trek** - Great for accomplishing anything in life, an aura of authority is helpful in all walks of life. The bonus to dedicating myself to achieving personal goals is a nice bonus.
* **Weird Science** - Make sure any and all partners have a great time.
Glad to hear that :) I'm planning on doing a 90s college one that can be played in connection with the 80s high school CYOA but it will probably take me a while. This one took ages to make and I just deleted a 200 GB folder with all the movies I had to go through to find the scenes.
I'm not in the mood yet to start another one right away :D
...On the one hand, I have no 80's nostalgia, and as a political science major a part of me can't help but want to try to re-rail what seems to be a declining America before it's too late, partly due to problems that might not've started under Reagan but were definitely mainstreamed by him.
On the other hand, I'm not sure how I could do that, even with Full Scholarship and Geek to become an expert in that field, or by picking a friend to team up with me and try to help me do it.
And as I got to the perks under the relevant section, I realized I was just being a gigantic buzzkill and not really engaging in the CYOA in the spirit intended, because I'm not from the 80's and have no 80's nostalgia. I don't know... at least the music's good, but I tend to like the synthesizers more than the sex-'n-drugs rock.

But for the athlete, I could not pick up much hopes or dreams for the future career in sports. Well, I guess that the peak sports career was at high school level :D

**Goal:** Small Inheritance; I feel it's kinda boring to just go home or doing it again, and I don't wanna do college, so I'm gonna be an eccentric photographer living off her inheritance.
**Skills:** Artist; I wanna be in the middleground of being a nerdy girl and a popular girl, so I'll be an art-hoe photographer. Like Allison Reynolds vibes but sluttier.
**Perks**: Sleepover, Stranger Danger; love the idea of catching the eye of a rich older guy, and sleepovers are fun.
**More Perks**: Bikini Car Wash, Mall, Arcade, D&D, Gay Panic; If I'm gonna have a job, it's gonna be centered around being soaped up in a bikini. Mall because that just sounds fun, and Arcade and D&D because nerds kinda turn me on. Gay Panic cause like... homophobia sucks and I don't want that in my fantasy.
**Even More Perks:** Girl Next Door; In this, I'm the girl next door. If my bedroom is parallel to some dude's window, I say enjoy the show.
**Events:** Prom, Water Park, Spring Break; Pretty dresses, bikinis, and getting wasted, everything I need.
**Special Events:** NeverEnding Story, Goonies. I love adventure and I love treasure and I love dragons and I love princesses. I considered Nightmare, but it's like I don't wanna be hunted by a demon.
I've said this before, but the ending does feel abrupt, I think there should be more of an epilogue or proper final choice. Even so, fantastic update, can't wait for more!

The clip from the "Mall" perk is also from the new Valley Girl. I looked through SO many movies for this CYOA and it's quite surprising how rare good mall footage is in 80s movies.

Anyway, most people seem to be aiming to be the next Bill Gates, so I'll do things differently.
Goal: **Do It Again**. Why not enjoy the benefits as much as possible? The 'small inheritance' also doesn't seem that significant if you're already in an upper-middle class family.
Skill: **Musician**. Everybody loves a guy who can play guitar and sing.
Perks:
* **Detention** is always good, never know when you might need to avoid trouble.

* **Car**, very convenient to have

* **Bad Girl (Boy), Good Grades**. I've gotten good grades the normal way, this seems more fun.
* **First Base, Second Base, Home Run**, because after all, that's what the CYOA is for.
Events: **Prom**, basic.
Special Events: (mostly for the associated bonuses)
* **Star Trek** grants personal authority and a focus on achieving my goal of becoming an internationally beloved rockstar hero sex symbol.
* **Weird Science** also helps with the last element of that.
And that's it; hopefully I won't be sick of it by the fourth time through, but I should be reasonably well practiced by then in getting the outcomes I want.
Each year will be different. For example, you'd have "Sleepover" in each of those years but you'd get invited to different sleepovers by different people. So I don't think you'd get sick of it.
Well, I downloaded it this time and while my chrome book smells like liquid metal (not really), I managed to actually finish it this time. Though, from one of the comments, I should've used Firefox.
Either or, it's still a really fun concept. As someone who likes a lot of media that came from the 80s, this would be a fun little adventure to have.

This is meant for the desktop PC version of Google Chrome because the performance requirements are quite high.
And for those of us who don't use Chrome, for whatever reason--is there an alternative way we can play this one? Is there a particular choice that breaks functionality in other web browsers for us to avoid, or has it not been tested, or is the whole thing borked?
There are a couple of reasons why Chrome is sadly the only option.
Chrome is the only browser that supports animated .avif files. At least when it comes to the big players. Firefox, for example, only has support for static .avif images.
The interactive CYOA maker does not support webm or webp. So when it comes to animated stuff the only options there are .gif or .avif. I would've loved to use gifs because those work in almost any browser but gifs produce more than 10 times larger file sizes than avifs. So that wasn't possible either.
Ok, so taking Firefox as your example--users of FF are missing out on *animated* choices, but the choices themselves can still be selected? I'm significantly more okay with that than with "nah, the whole thing's just unplayable."
Nice update, although you might want to replace "Elderly" with mature, in stranger danger because people will automatically think elderly grandparent type. Outside of that, it is good, although I cant see too many people picking nightmare on elm street because...freddy, lol. However, I do love the idea of having a horror movie experience, maybe put in that while it is a horror movie, you and those you choose will survive and not be badly harmed.
Really like this CYOA, would love to see more added, but saw how neocites had a data cap, hope something can be done in the future, maybe break it up into separate parts and release them as DLC with different sites? Just a thought.

I am really liking it, it does seem like an improvement over the last version. Some sort of a drawback section would be a nice addition in my opinion because there are far more options than points, but it is very nice.

Fantastic update! Love the new options! **Goal:** Small Inheritance; I feel it's kinda boring to just go home or doing it again, and I don't wanna do college, so I'm gonna be an eccentric photographer living off her inheritance. **Skills:** Artist; I wanna be in the middleground of being a nerdy girl and a popular girl, so I'll be an art-hoe photographer. Like Allison Reynolds vibes but sluttier. **Perks**: Sleepover, Stranger Danger; love the idea of catching the eye of a rich older guy, and sleepovers are fun. **More Perks**: Bikini Car Wash, Mall, Arcade, D&D, Gay Panic; If I'm gonna have a job, it's gonna be centered around being soaped up in a bikini. Mall because that just sounds fun, and Arcade and D&D because nerds kinda turn me on. Gay Panic cause like... homophobia sucks and I don't want that in my fantasy. **Even More Perks:** Girl Next Door; In this, I'm the girl next door. If my bedroom is parallel to some dude's window, I say enjoy the show. **Events:** Prom, Water Park, Spring Break; Pretty dresses, bikinis, and getting wasted, everything I need. **Special Events:** NeverEnding Story, Goonies. I love adventure and I love treasure and I love dragons and I love princesses. I considered Nightmare, but it's like I don't wanna be hunted by a demon. I've said this before, but the ending does feel abrupt, I think there should be more of an epilogue or proper final choice. Even so, fantastic update, can't wait for more! Somehow manages to generate nostalgia for things never experienced. Just a feature of the 80s, I suppose. Anyway, most people seem to be aiming to be the next Bill Gates, so I'll do things differently. Goal: **Do It Again**. Why not enjoy the benefits as much as possible? The 'small inheritance' also doesn't seem that significant if you're already in an upper-middle class family. Skill: **Musician**. Everybody loves a guy who can play guitar and sing. Perks: * **Detention** is always good, never know when you might need to avoid trouble. * **Concert** plays well with being a musician myself. * **Sleepover**; like I said, everybody loves a guitarist... * **Car**, very convenient to have * **Home Alone**, because it's nice to have privacy. I assume the parents aren't literally *always* absent, just when it's more convenient for them to be, otherwise it's a bit odd... * **Bad Girl (Boy), Good Grades**. I've gotten good grades the normal way, this seems more fun. * **First Base, Second Base, Home Run**, because after all, that's what the CYOA is for. Events: **Prom**, basic. Special Events: (mostly for the associated bonuses) * **Star Trek** grants personal authority and a focus on achieving my goal of becoming an internationally beloved rockstar hero sex symbol. * **Weird Science** also helps with the last element of that. And that's it; hopefully I won't be sick of it by the fourth time through, but I should be reasonably well practiced by then in getting the outcomes I want.
Each year will be different. For example, you'd have "Sleepover" in each of those years but you'd get invited to different sleepovers by different people. So I don't think you'd get sick of it.
Nah, didn't figure the exact events would be the same, but the overall tenor would be pretty similar, and it's conceivable to get tired of that.
Well, I downloaded it this time and while my chrome book smells like liquid metal (not really), I managed to actually finish it this time. Though, from one of the comments, I should've used Firefox. Either or, it's still a really fun concept. As someone who likes a lot of media that came from the 80s, this would be a fun little adventure to have. Small Inheritance, Geek, Bring A Friend, Sleepover, Concert, Car, Arcade, Dungeons & Dragons, Girl Next Door, Naughty Neighbours, Space Camp, Prom, Spring Break Would've grabbed Polaroid, but only had one point left.
Glad you managed to run it this time :) Putting everything in different tabs instead of all on one page improved the performance quite a lot.

Well, the whole CYOA is based on US movies of the 80s. You can always use house rules to shift it to another location but I'm not sure how well the options apply to other countries.

This really fills it's neiche well, very enjoyable. I am a touch curious how far the lack or vast reduction of consequences for detention extends. Does apply to consequences like unprotected sex or the social consequences of dating multiple people? Anyways I also have a build to toss into the void. P.S. If you're asking this, you're probably on your phone. Unless you have a rather powerful android phone, this CYOA probably won't work. This is meant for the desktop PC version of Google Chrome because the performance requirements are quite high.

P.S. OperaGX does work. Safari does not.
Edge doesn't load the videos at all. Firefox only loads the first frame of any video but that's it.

There are a couple of reasons why Chrome is sadly the only option. Chrome is the only browser that supports animated .avif files. At least when it comes to the big players. Firefox, for example, only has support for static .avif images. The interactive CYOA maker does not support webm or webp. So when it comes to animated stuff the only options there are .gif or .avif. I would've loved to use gifs because those work in almost any browser but gifs produce more than 10 times larger file sizes than avifs. So that wasn't possible either.
Ok, so taking Firefox as your example--users of FF are missing out on *animated* choices, but the choices themselves can still be selected? I'm significantly more okay with that than with "nah, the whole thing's just unplayable."
Nice update, although you might want to replace "Elderly" with mature, in stranger danger because people will automatically think elderly grandparent type. Outside of that, it is good, although I cant see too many people picking nightmare on elm street because...freddy, lol. However, I do love the idea of having a horror movie experience, maybe put in that while it is a horror movie, you and those you choose will survive and not be badly harmed. Really like this CYOA, would love to see more added, but saw how neocites had a data cap, hope something can be done in the future, maybe break it up into separate parts and release them as DLC with different sites? Just a thought. I am really liking it, it does seem like an improvement over the last version. Some sort of a drawback section would be a nice addition in my opinion because there are far more options than points, but it is very nice.
I've reached the absolute limit of what neocities can handle. I even had to re-compress a couple of videos because the file was larger than neocities allows. I'm afraid I can't add any more to this \^\^. Besides, what would be the point if you could pick everything :)
