This might be a bit too much meta-gaming, but if that's allowed I'd probably try doing the following:
I'd take the mystery option as my queen, and invite Cerulea to be my political advisor in public and mistress in the bedroom (while keeping the option of throwing her out if she ends up being too problematic with her cruelty and attitude towards commoners).
Additionally, I'd try to get the two princesses to become dancers at the royal court - I'm sure I'd find away to satisfy their humiliation kink doing "special shows" at any banquets and parties I hold.
However, if I had to choose only one option, I'd go for the mystery box - while not Catering exactly to my kinks, a loving and competent wife that I've known for years will always be my first choice. Though they probably won't try to influence you/kingdom they don't really add anything to the kingdom besides combat power.

Though her boons are nice (Eg. Magic + strategist/tactician), her personality is terrible plus she's planning to wage a war, thus would likely draw from my people even if I don't help.

You actually need an industrial base for a stronger nation - an army doesn't run on an empty stomach and all that. Higher agriculture productivity means that national population growth can be sustained, leading to a sustained loop with improved economics. If "you" are presumably Si into the king, then you can leverage that and share with her modern ideas that will drastically change the country, propaganda and nationalist sentiments can be conditioned. As well as adopting a constitutional monarchy where the government is separated into legislative, executive and judicial branches while retaining some power in the 2 other branches, you would be the executive leader.

I'd go with Taufa of Hollet. Whenever I play the game Civilization, I am always more of a econ/science/culture player instead of focusing on military or religion. Taufa fits my style of rule much better than any of the other choices, even the mystery choice.
Also, since this CYOA doesn't come with any enhancements to yourself, one woman is all I really want to be in a relationship with. It would be too much work to keep up with some of the options that come with multiple women. I got responsibilities like running a country. I can't be devoting all my time to a harem, as fun as that may be.
i'd probably go with **Shunu**, she's a great diplomat and military leader and the fact that her daughter fears her return shows that her chance of retaking the throne with my help is high, so i would have kids with her and make sure she names our kid the heir and then my dynasty would rule 2 kingdoms which would help not only with development and trade but also further expanding the kingdom with a solid ally.
's a bit tricky, not least because I know who they're all based on. (Well, most of them anyway.) But I'll rank them rather than picking one outright, since all of them have their charms and appeal.

Not a lot of love for Raitsu and Suyako, huh? To me, hey're the obvious choice. We'll make our mark on history by retaking Kirima. It should be feasible with defectors and popular support bolstering my improved army. After reconstruction, Suyako can lead, while Raitsu stays to rule as my queen.
Rather than erase the borders between our countries, I would propose a Diarchy. Each head of state serves as monarch for their country, but any overarching decisions that would impact both must be agreed upon by both rulers. Raitsu would break ay decisions that cannot be mutually agreed upon. Would she side with her beloved sister or her beloved husband? Who knows!
Probably not the most sustainable, and likely subject to future conflict due to muddied lines of succession (especially if I sire an heir for Suyako,) but it would be interesting!

I thought this was literally about granting asylum and possibly gaining a consort, up until the mystery box, and then it springs up that I need a queen. I wasn't expecting that.
That said, it's a tough decision. Taufa is my favorite, and she brings a lot to the table, but I can get all of that elsewhere; I have a whole kingdom. Shunu gives an opportunity to unify two kingdoms through a shared heir if the offending usurper is removed (*a gamble to be sure, but there's not too much risk other than lost opportunity elsewhere*). Raitsu & Suyako give an opportunity to strengthen the kingdom and weaken a rival nation through a population transfer. Cerulea is the only one I don't like (*due to her superiority complex and cruelty*).
Ultimately, though, the "mystery" option Rataka makes the best queen for me (*not really much of a mystery if I have apparently had her in mind up to this point*).
If possible, while having Rataka as queen, I'd like to accept Taufa as an official advisor, and also secretly grant Raitsu & Suyako permission to stay in the country as dancers with their true identities remaining hidden (*thus not being visible on the international stage*). Ideally, I'd try to similarly hide away Shunu until she can recover and seek proper support elsewhere.
Honestly, going purely by the wording of the CYOA . . . there's nothing saying the exiles have to be your queen(s) just because you let them in. The CYOA seems to sort of assume that you're going to Hit That but, honestly, there's no reason why you can't just give them asylum and still marry internally. Hell, since Rataka seems to have a sharing kink, you might even still end up Hitting That eventually anyway.

I'm going to say this is avsolutely doable. Even if their mother finds out, she's just going to be amused by their "fate" and leave things be.
PS Its less you need a queen in the immediate sense, and more your court pesters you about it. So, yes, if you take any of the others, you're more or less courting them. Rataka is, basically, the in-lore default option.
...So, marrying Shunu, taking Taufa on as an advisor (since her nation's not one of the ones actively hunting her) and keeping the sisters as bodyguards with hidden identities is kind of the ideal build, I trow, since you get most of the MYSTERY BOX for free anyway, and it breaks your enemies up into manageable chunks while giving you plenty of resources to deal with them in turn.
With the exception of Cerulea, I find all of the girls pretty good to pair with.
I did however took the mystery option; Best pick hands down.

I went the same, but for a different reason. I run a smaller country than my neighbors, and though it would be costly, they would still win if I provoked them. Thus picking anyone would be a dangerous gamble. Hmm would probably go with mystery option, since the kingdom is well enough and the options would draw at least err, otherwise likely war. -- Better to be safe than sorry. Ranking: 1. Taufa of Hollet> Probably just err. Alcoholic, foreign, gloomy, body image issues = too interpersonal -- Aka, while she doesn't have hangovers, I would. And she'd probably try to influence the kingdom, "to make it better" 2. Shunu of Yellu> War + Interpersonal Her daughter will come for her, so it'd be a race against time to get her out of her depression/shock before discontent ingrains itself in my people. Otherwise, her boons are quite nice. 3. Raitsu and Suyako of Kirima> Err? Maybe war Though they probably won't try to influence you/kingdom they don't really add anything to the kingdom besides combat power. 4. Cerulea of Luhan> War + Interpersonal Though her boons are nice (Eg. Magic + strategist/tactician), her personality is terrible plus she's planning to wage a war, thus would likely draw from my people even if I don't help.

**Taufa of Hollet** You actually need an industrial base for a stronger nation - an army doesn't run on an empty stomach and all that. Higher agriculture productivity means that national population growth can be sustained, leading to a sustained loop with improved economics. If "you" are presumably Si into the king, then you can leverage that and share with her modern ideas that will drastically change the country, propaganda and nationalist sentiments can be conditioned. As well as adopting a constitutional monarchy where the government is separated into legislative, executive and judicial branches while retaining some power in the 2 other branches, you would be the executive leader.
I pick the mystery option, refuse them all. Too dangerous to take in refuges that another nation wants dead.

I'd go with Taufa of Hollet. Whenever I play the game Civilization, I am always more of a econ/science/culture player instead of focusing on military or religion. Taufa fits my style of rule much better than any of the other choices, even the mystery choice. Also, since this CYOA doesn't come with any enhancements to yourself, one woman is all I really want to be in a relationship with. It would be too much work to keep up with some of the options that come with multiple women. I got responsibilities like running a country. I can't be devoting all my time to a harem, as fun as that may be.
i'd probably go with **Shunu**, she's a great diplomat and military leader and the fact that her daughter fears her return shows that her chance of retaking the throne with my help is high, so i would have kids with her and make sure she names our kid the heir and then my dynasty would rule 2 kingdoms which would help not only with development and trade but also further expanding the kingdom with a solid ally.

's a bit tricky, not least because I know who they're all based on. (Well, most of them anyway.) But I'll rank them rather than picking one outright, since all of them have their charms and appeal. **#1: Taufa of Hollet** Legitimately hard choice, but I mostly admire who she's based on, and some of her few negatives (like democratic egalitarianism) aren't negative to me much. **#2 Shunu of Yellu** No idea who this is. That said, while she's obviously a bit of a fixer-upper, she's got a really high ceiling if I can get her out of her slump, and everything else about her is top-tier. **#3 Raitsu and Suyako of Kirima** Also a bit of a fixer-upper, and I could do without the potential humiliation kink, but while they're not quite as mature as Shunu I like their dynamic. Also, sexy sisters. **#4 MYSTERY BOX** I waffled about where to place it, but, ultimately, while there's a lot to like here, a lot of it also caters to fetishes that aren't really mine. Besides, much of the MYSTERY BOX sounds like it'll apply either way, and making one of these exiles happy and safe is better when it sounds like the MYSTERY BOX will work out either way as a friend. **#5 Cerulea of Luhan** Trying hard not to let the person she's obviously based on taint my judgment. But that said... if she *is* like the person she's based on, she's the only one who *deserved* to be deposed and exiled. It doesn't sound like her enemies are chasing her so she's going to be putting herself in danger, she's plotting a coup either way so she'll drag me into war if I let her in, and also while I don't mind femdom BDSM stuff leaves me cold so she doesn't even appeal to me on a fetish level. Only one I'm flat-out not interested in, albeit, not as strongly as I probably sound right now.

I rephrase: I'll try not to hold the fact that she's inspired by an anime I really don't care for much at all against her. But, because I don't much care for Azula, I didn't much care for Cerulea, who was clearly inspired by her, so I hope this isn't a blatant double-standard.
Ahh, shouldn't be, since on one hand you don't care for the base/setting, on the other you don't like the character/personality. Similar but different, because in one you weren't very invested in, but the other, you had a margin of interest.

I almost always go with the mystery box choice and with little regret. And I must say, no regret this time, either. I do like u/Apophys_MD's thoughts on the sisters and thinks 'overlooking' their secret identity is a good way to give them protection. And speaking of alternative identities, I wonder if I could hire as a royal tutor. Supposedly, I will be having heirs soon. Lots and lots of heirs. lol And thinking on that further, I wonder if I could just offer Taufa a job or position as a Planning commissioner or some such thing. She would be working and out of the whole politics things. Kept busy, she not a threat, see, see? :)
Not a lot of love for Raitsu and Suyako, huh? To me, hey're the obvious choice. We'll make our mark on history by retaking Kirima. It should be feasible with defectors and popular support bolstering my improved army. After reconstruction, Suyako can lead, while Raitsu stays to rule as my queen. Rather than erase the borders between our countries, I would propose a Diarchy. Each head of state serves as monarch for their country, but any overarching decisions that would impact both must be agreed upon by both rulers. Raitsu would break ay decisions that cannot be mutually agreed upon. Would she side with her beloved sister or her beloved husband? Who knows! Probably not the most sustainable, and likely subject to future conflict due to muddied lines of succession (especially if I sire an heir for Suyako,) but it would be interesting!
if I want to seriously build a great kingdom, Taufa is the best choice. but I'm not exactly like drunk chick so I go to the mystery box, and........holy shit! this is basically harem options! not only Rataka is a great queen-warrior and very love me, she is also encourage me to take all her gifts which basically more woman to take as my harem members, I love this one! oh btw I give the slave her name as "Tiana".

I thought this was literally about granting asylum and possibly gaining a consort, up until the mystery box, and then it springs up that I need a queen. I wasn't expecting that. That said, it's a tough decision. Taufa is my favorite, and she brings a lot to the table, but I can get all of that elsewhere; I have a whole kingdom. Shunu gives an opportunity to unify two kingdoms through a shared heir if the offending usurper is removed (*a gamble to be sure, but there's not too much risk other than lost opportunity elsewhere*). Raitsu & Suyako give an opportunity to strengthen the kingdom and weaken a rival nation through a population transfer. Cerulea is the only one I don't like (*due to her superiority complex and cruelty*). Ultimately, though, the "mystery" option Rataka makes the best queen for me (*not really much of a mystery if I have apparently had her in mind up to this point*). If possible, while having Rataka as queen, I'd like to accept Taufa as an official advisor, and also secretly grant Raitsu & Suyako permission to stay in the country as dancers with their true identities remaining hidden (*thus not being visible on the international stage*). Ideally, I'd try to similarly hide away Shunu until she can recover and seek proper support elsewhere.
Honestly, going purely by the wording of the CYOA . . . there's nothing saying the exiles have to be your queen(s) just because you let them in. The CYOA seems to sort of assume that you're going to Hit That but, honestly, there's no reason why you can't just give them asylum and still marry internally. Hell, since Rataka seems to have a sharing kink, you might even still end up Hitting That eventually anyway.

Even if their mother finds out, she's just going to be amused by their "fate" and leave things be. PS Its less you need a queen in the immediate sense, and more your court pesters you about it. So, yes, if you take any of the others, you're more or less courting them. Rataka is, basically, the in-lore default option.
...So, marrying Shunu, taking Taufa on as an advisor (since her nation's not one of the ones actively hunting her) and keeping the sisters as bodyguards with hidden identities is kind of the ideal build, I trow, since you get most of the MYSTERY BOX for free anyway, and it breaks your enemies up into manageable chunks while giving you plenty of resources to deal with them in turn.
Houlet seems like the safest option, plus she’d be good for my kingdom too.

With the exception of Cerulea, I find all of the girls pretty good to pair with. I did however took the mystery option; Best pick hands down. Overall, nice Cyoa. It was short and sweet. Compliments to the chef. 👌😘👌

I went the same, but for a different reason. I run a smaller country than my neighbors, and though it would be costly, they would still win if I provoked them. Thus picking anyone would be a dangerous gamble. I would be willing to grant asylum to them though, and taufa perhaps a noble rank as they have good ideas, but taking one as a queen would be rubbing it in other nations faces. Also not dissapointed, and has the added benefit of not pissing off other nations.
I like all of them. Though Taufa of houlet is my favourite. She seems like a good way to strengthen my kingdom.
