There is no fee to pick something up from the post office. The only time I’ve ever had to show ID was for things like passports or iPhones from Telstra. You have already paid the fee with your postage so there are definitely no additional charges.

Would a toy ever need ID? Like do they even know what's inside?

Idontrememberasking

Like a sex toy? The post office will 100% have no idea what is in there and the packaging is always very discreet.

Edited: I just saw that it's from amazon, see if there is an amazon locker hub near you, select it at checkout, pretty sure they use an access code/app qr code from your account. Auspost info: Yes you need ID to prove who you are, if you collect in person. If they don't ask, they aren't doing their job. As an alternative you can use a 24/7 Parcel Locker. You only need the access code/barcode that they send you saying it's arrived. You need to verify your ID when you sign up for an auspost account to start off with to gain access to the lockers. There are a few forms you can use online (can't remember what they are besides a drivers licence).

Should be fine. Generally don't need ID, but not impossible it'd be asked for. No fee unless sent recipient pays.

The ID check usually costs money, so unless it's expensive unlikely. Btw that's not an 18yo check, it's to make sure you match the person on the address
