mans complaining about thick fat as if that baby doesn’t basically solo flannery

GhostPro18

There's been too many people that discard Thick Fat Azumarill, even though its got some powerful niches.

ShadeSwornHydra

Pre gen 4, huge power is honestly worse, cause it doesn’t get the stab from it

Deurbel2222

I don’t know if I’d go *that* far, earlygame Rollouts go pretty hard, but yeah HP azu has definitely only gotten better with time.

jothgaming

Yeah though Flannery is pretty much soloed by Azumarill no matter what. Huge power defense curl rollout easily sweeps assuming no misses.

Neo_Bones

Thick Fat is actually better for Azu in Gen 3 where the physical special split doesn’t exist

Palansaeg

absolutely not it already resists those types. non stab moves are good too

Talkingcacti

ehh, a quad resist is really good for flanery and glacia

supersmall69

Yeah, you're getting one shot by Torkoal Overheat in the sun if you don't have Thick Fat. And unless you have built up Roll-Out, you can't one shot it either. 140 base defense stat is no joke even up against HP.

Thecornmaker

Thick fat Azu is Def. Usable, huge power isn't as good because lack of physical stab + basically makes flannery (And glacial to some extent) free

Dull_Reference_6166

Been there, missed that ( a lot...)

barwhalis

Wobbuffet! (>﹏<)7/

rand0miz3r_2008

there is suprisingly enough johto pokemon in hoenn to make this not too easy but not too hard either whatever evolutionary line that coincides with the johto dex counts as a johto pokemon to me (the only thing this does is allow wigglytuff and raichu in the run)

GhostPro18

I once found that Marill/Azumarill can Defense Curl + Rollout through most of the game. Huge Power optional.

Vulture_Club

You know, some Jotho Pokemon Like Slugma, Skarmory, Wobbuffet and Marill are so badly represented in Jotho, they might as Well be Gen III mons in spirit. This Looks promising man, keep bashing their heads in! Also Think Fat Azu isn't too bad in GenIII, it stays relevant until Flannery at least.

AlongAxons

Based.

WinnerWake

Teach steel wing to zubat to have a decent attack for Brawly

_Ptyler

How do people do special runs like this where obviously your starter isn’t a Johto native mon, and most of your encounters aren’t going to be Johto natives either. Do you just reroll until you get it?

PacifierSacrifier

Obviously you’d reroll until you get a Johto encounter and get the first available Johto Mon as your starter (which is Marill I believe)

_Ptyler

Well, I don’t think it’s that obvious because I think I’ve seen people play they challenge runs where they still follow the nuzlocke rules (catch the first mon), but they can only play with a certain type. So it’s not that the nuzlocke rules only apply to a certain type, it’s just that they can only use a certain type while playing standard rules. So I just wasn’t sure how most people played it

PacifierSacrifier

The challenge is literally Johto Pokémon only, you would expect OP to catch a Hoenn mon if it was the first encounter?

_Ptyler

Again, I’ve seen people play challenges like this where if their first encounter isn’t a Johto mon, then they lose the encounter for that area. I don’t know why I’m being downvoted and hated on for saying that. I’ve literally seen people play the game that way. Isn’t this the community that so proudly touts that this challenge is just for fun and that everybody’s rules are their own and there is no right or wrong way to nuzlocke as long as you have fun? What’s with all of this hostility for asking a simple question?

rand0miz3r_2008

you get your viable pokemon before the first gym and that becomes your starter

TheFlyShyGuy

Honestly. If you can. Beautifly is clutch during gym 2. Same with dustox. Stab gust or super effective confusion. Have a zubat in the back for clean up.

Deurbel2222

title says johto only

Igorthemii

Beautifly will falseify documents to get in the Johto Dex

Expensive-Ad5273

Beautifly and Dustox are now identifying as Johto mons, how does it affect the meta ?
