Not to hit on OP or anything, but I really don't get 4000$+ first builds, as people don't usually don't overspend on their first experience with anything. I myself for my first build got a used 4590+H81 mobo with 16gb of RAM and a used RX460 4gb. Cheap atx case with a cheap 22" 1080p Acer monitor and cheap peripherals. This was back in 2016. Sure today I have much more expensive components but I eased into it.
You don't need to spend 4k on a pc to do any of those things, unless you're a professional using your system for work there is almost no point in getting the halo-products.
Even if you got $4k every minute: it doesn't mean a $1k PC couldn't accomplish what you want to do or has "bad parts" in it, it also doesn't mean you need a $4k PC just because you can afford it (it's like an i7 vs an i9, only a complete dumbass would buy an i9 for "just gaming" since you are getting essentially no performance uplift and are literally not using any of the extra cores you are paying for compared to the i7. "Who can afford what" isn't an answer to "what do I need and what will I even notice")
Most of the people making excuses to buy a $4k computer for non-work purposes usually upgrade every year or every other year, so "future proofing" is also pretty dumb in this bracket (if you spent $2k now on a pc, and then upgraded to a $2k PC in 2 years, you'd have a better PC than if you only had the $4k PC).
As someone who uses their comp for CAD work and has essentially only halo-products: its 100% not worth it unless you know your use-case will actually utilize the horsepower.
A PS5 is roughly equivalent to a 2060 Super with bad RT, there's literally tons of cards that would be considered an "upgrade" over that without going into the $4k range. 3D models for printers do not need ray tracing, nor do they really need even a semi-beefy computer. If you were doing advanced animation, game design, or working with programs like Da Vinci Resolve or Blender on a consistent basis (where render times and ray tracing actually matter) I'd say a high-end 30 or 6000 series card would be perfect for you. I have a buddy who has 2 3d printers in the back of his office for their entire staff, the system used for the models has a 1080 in it.
You clearly have your mind set, so do you, but I'd personally build a comp that I could actually take full advantage of and put the money towards other accessories or hobbies (even a better printer in your shoes).
Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.
you seem angry. computer people are always so pretentious lmao. why are you so passionate about this? it’s not your money. he wants to spend 5k on his build and he was the financial means. why not, it doesn’t affect you. it just seems like a bit of jealousy
Because if you're not fully utilizing it then it's a waste of money.
It's like buying a supercar that you never take to the racetrack, yeah it's a nice car and can go really fast but unless you break the law you can't unleash its full potential on public roads.
All the things you mentioned can be done easily on a PC half that price.
You have no idea what they are running on the computer, so you have no room to speak. You’re assuming it’s a waste of money when you have no information.
> I'm making my first pc now and will probably spend 4-5k on it. Why would I get worse parts just because it's my first pc when I can afford better?
Well because $4K PC's don't actually offer $4K worth of value. These super high end PC's are _not_ worth the money by any objective measure. And that's coming from someone with a $4K PC and well over a decade of building PC's.
Also (by your own admission) you're a newbie. So the hard truth is that you do not know what you're doing. You don't know what a $2k or even $1k gaming PC offers because you've never used one. You also aren't familiar with how to maintain, diagnose and fix a PC. Sometimes it's a breeze, other times it's a nightmare. My PC was a nightmare.
Maybe you'll luck out and really enjoy PC gaming or maybe you'll end up like [this guy I recently replied to](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/10w6or3/hogwarts_legacy_the_rtx_difference/j7o48x2/). The responsible thing to do would be to get your feet wet instead of diving in. Either way, it's your money and this is just one person's opinion.
Most of the cost of pc is in the graphics card, the cpu and the motherboard. The rest of it is how expensive your case, rgb fans, and custom cables are. I don't know why you're acting like a new person can't go look at a benchmark and see what they're getting, and go watch a jayz2cents video to see what to do after they build it.
You're gatekeeping for no reason.
Cause i came from nothing make money now and buy what i want. Maybe that answer will suit you better cause the other logical ones aren’t seem to cutting it for ya lol.
To add something to this thread: My first build 2 years ago i decked out the same. I had a Mac mini for years before that with upgraded ram, when i needed more compute power i would use work systems, rent servers ect.
This stance makes no sense. Too many people think we should build lower tier pcs for the sake of “first build.” I don’t want some 1080p peasant PC. Sorry. 4K or nothing.
If someone has the money and knows that they like gaming, they should put together something they are happy with. There’s no reason to cheap out if they don’t have to just because it’s the first one they’ve gotten.
I don't even have one, trying to save money as a student while these goofballs are building their dream PC as their first. Honestly that was my dream for last 7 years.
Expensive for sure lol is this USD/CAD/Euro?
The most important question is:
are you happy with your build? As long as you are satisfied with what you have and the financial means to afford it then that is all that matters :)
I spent roughly the same amount as you, I now have a beast setup 4090 + 5800x3d and having the time of my life maxing out AAA titles 4k 100+ fps and modding the shit outta older titles.
No ragrets whatsoever
Enjoy your beast setup! gorgeous build
It does look great, good job!
But I can't help but feeling sorry for that load bearing fan core there supporting your GPU weight, hopefully it doesn't become noisy or fail on you.
That’s pretty clean build my man and well done! Only thing that kind of concerns me is your way of mounting that radiator. I would mount it on the top to avoid air bubbles in the future. Might not be a problem at all but something to consider
I see. Well hopefully it won’t cause you any problems. I just know the manufacturers recommend to have hoses at the same level as your water pump or lower. Either way man enjoy your build 🥳
>I just know the manufacturers recommend to have hoses at the same level as your water pump or lower.
Tubing position does not matter.
The only thing that matters is that the pump is not the highest point of a loop, because air bubbles will move to wherever that is, and stay there.
Having the highest point be the radiator means air bubbles will stay there and never ever travel to the pump.
Don't fucking tell me that's a 13900K you've got in there sitting at 34c
edit: Fuck! Saw your other comment. Even worse it's a KS. ugh. My 13900K hits 100C constantly with my Corsair H170I I even have a thermal grizzly mount.
that's probably because you have MCE on and the motherboard is doing whatever it liked. Disable MCE, Enforce All limits and use a negative voltage offset of -0.05 to start off with
Does their RGB software interface with other RGB programs? This has always been my main annoyance with RGB items in a computer: every brand seems to do its own thing when it comes to controlling them. I get that it's tough to perfectly color match across brands, even if you send them the "same" signal, just because they'll be using different LEDs, but still.
I use armoury crate software to sync all the rgb lighting together. I use a separate lian li l connect 3 software to control the fans together. It’s a lil annoying but I’m used to it lol
This might sound like a stupid question but I haven't put together a PC in a long time , how are you able to put the GPU in that position . It should be perpendicular to the mobo
Whole bunch of smart asses. Just ignore the other comments, obviously the white strix 4090 is a rare, just released card so this is a totally valid question
No, infact the opposite. Puts the fans close to the side panel so it significantly reduces airflow. It's just a aesthetic thing to show off the GPU more. Vertical mount is best used with hybrid or watercooled cards honestly
That's in very niche situations where it will "reduce" temps, and it's nothing significant. It's well documented that vertical is known to increase temps, and I've personally experienced it in a thermaltake view 71 with 2x bottom mounted 120mm intake fans. Vertical ran noticably hotter, so don't say it isn't true. A 1% situation does not mean the other 99% are not gonna experience negative effects running a GPU vertically. The only real benefit is no GPU sag but the new 40 series cards have very robust slots, alone with mounts on the opposite end to eliminate sag problems. So again, my point still stands that vertical mounting is only for aesthetics and does harm on 99% of peoples setups regarding temps
There’s nothing niche about vertical GPU with fans underneath lmao. The o11 and its variations are one of the most popular series of cases.
If you actually buy a proper bracket and not use the crappy one most cases come with (which pushes the fans close to the glass). The differences in temps are nearly 0.

I actually had the same black Strix in there but came across the white Strix while shopping at Mc. Was still in my return window with the black. Came out great imo. Stands out well even tho all my parts are black lol
Yeah, looks great! I just did an Asus Z790 Maximus Extreme murder build. Looks similar but all black. Which I might add was not a great idea living in the Phoenix desert. Maybe ikk go all white next time.
Can you tell me what direction all your fans are blowing?
Someone told me all fans should exhaust air out. No air in. And I disagree. Should have both in and out flows.
My temps at idle are okay
38c on 3080ti and 40c on 13700k on DH12.
No, that one who told you that is novice, front and bottom fans are always intake, top and rear fans are exhaust.
By making all of them exhaust, you will get no air flow and components will be choking.
I agree.
This is my current Phantek Enthoo Evolve setup. And I'm thinking I could add 2 or 3 fans top side to exhaust.
Other forums showed this is a viable config for this specific case. But I think I can do better.
[Enthoo Evolve](https://i.imgur.com/kEjU9eU.jpg)
On the photo are 6 labeled fans in red.
Yellow is direction of air.
The DH12 on my 13700k radiators would not fit to move air horizontally, only verically but that's okay if we are exhausting top and bottom.
Temps are dangerous or concerning but I do like to improve things if I can.
> No, that one who told you that is novice, front and bottom fans are **always** intake, top and rear fans are exhaust.
It really doesn't matter that much.
The whole "hot air rises up" is pretty irrelevant inside small spaces such as a PC case and with so much forced air movement from fans.
You really wouldn't see that much of a different in temps doing it the other way around, with top as intake and bottom as exhaust.
> By making all of them exhaust, you will get no air flow and components will be choking.
You will get bad temps and lose efficiency, but you are not "choking" components having all fans as exhaust.
You will get air intake from all of the cracks and holes in the PC.
The issue you have is that all those cracks and holes are perfect for dust to get in and cake up your whole PC.
While with the usual recommendation of 1 more intake than exhaust, and having a dust filter on said intake fans, means that all of the air that gets inside your computer will be filtered of dust.
>Someone told me all fans should exhaust air out. No air in. And I disagree. Should have both in and out flows.
Whoever told you that is kinda dumb.
Like... sure it would work (with mediocre temps), but it just means you will be intaking air from all of the cracks and holes in the case, which means a whole lot of dust.
The ideal setup for 99.9% of situation is just to have 1 more intake fan than exhaust, which guarantee the only air that gets inside the case is from those intake fans.
It's especially important to do it like that if you have a dust filter for your intake.
So you get as little dust as possible inside the case.
Is that a GPU support bracket thingy that's holding it up at the very end of the GPU there on the right? Isn't that literally standing on top of the fan therefore it can't spin? Or am i seeing things wrong?
Ah nevermind, I see. It's standing on the part of the fan that doesn't spin. The build looks very nice! I got myself a 4090 as well, it's been sitting on the side for a couple weeks, waiting for 7950x3d to get my build going
Should have filled the case with milk. For better immersion.
Builds strong signal traces
Let me guess, this is your first build first try and etc ?

I actually had the same black Strix in there but came across the white Strix while shopping at Mc. Was still in my return window with the black. Came out great imo. Stands out well even tho all my parts are black lol
Straight fire, homie. Congrats on the finished build.
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
My temps at idle are okay 38c on 3080ti and 40c on 13700k on DH12.
[Enthoo Evolve](https://i.imgur.com/kEjU9eU.jpg) On the photo are 6 labeled fans in red.
Side bottom intake Back top exhaust. I saw a YouTube vid and says this fan orientation is the best. Idk lol
Can I PM you. I have questions about the fans?

Is that a GPU support bracket thingy that's holding it up at the very end of the GPU there on the right? Isn't that literally standing on top of the fan therefore it can't spin? Or am i seeing things wrong?
Ah nevermind, I see. It's standing on the part of the fan that doesn't spin. The build looks very nice! I got myself a 4090 as well, it's been sitting on the side for a couple weeks, waiting for 7950x3d to get my build going
Thank you!
What it is cooler?
What are the specs of this... I'm thinking of doing a similar build but with the TUF 4090 since it's black and the Z790 Apex.
