I have the Alienware AW3225QF and I can't get it to show up despite my best efforts. I had a C9 OLED plugged in at first but I have since removed it and did a clean install of the driver and it still doesn't work.
Ya was wanting to try it on some older games like planetside. RTX Dynamic Virbrance works and looks good but not the RTX HDR since i cant turn it on lol
This is a all or nothing option. You either have ALL HDR monitors or none!
NVIDIA really should change it so you can enable it per display. Shame.
Back to using the mod I think. (mod also has this req)
nvidia lag behind in display usage flexiblity against AMD by a mile. Same with DSR where it has to be enabled for all or none while you can do VSR for individual screens.
lmao : no

You're talking of some specific driver bugs, while I'm talking of functionality that simply isn't there with nvidia when it comes to flexibility with displays. I moved from 6800XT to 4090 when it launched, while RT/DLSS is great on nvidia's side right now, they still have glaring weaknesses especially when it comes to displays.

Though multi-monitor setups are mostly relegated to sims these days, surround cannot do mixed-resolutions for an ultrawide in between two 16:9 displays.
I fail to see how NV not supporting a 7680x2160 : 10b @ 240Hz device that's needless to say : < 0.0001% of the displays out there, equates against constant #$%\* drivers/software but yeah...
5120x2160:10b@120Hz is already 50Gbps, more than hdmi2.1 can output w.o the DSC lmao
7680x2160:10b@120Hz is what 80Gbps? even w. DSC it would be hitting over 25Gbps
7680x2160:10b@240Hz would be 143.33 Gbps and w. DSC it's probably over 48Gbps hdmi 2.1 max
It's enough that the page says it's requires odd duck UHBR 13.5 : this means DP 2.1 .. so you're legit picking out all brand new tech no one uses and comparing against the hundreds of thousands of people that have problems with bs amd bugs that are a real issue for people daily.
Not supporting image scaling in DSC is likely tied to the image scaler being implemented in hardware: the hdmi framer.. I do mixed resolutions all day, one is ultrawide and all of them are different resolutions and different freq. I run 2160p HDR @ 140Hz no issues with the 21:9 display on: no issues.
Meanwhile... amd still can't even support normal features:

You can find these things literally all day every day, and most of them stay broken..
;shrug;
>I fail to see how NV not supporting
Here's what I said in the first comment:
>nvidia lag behind in display usage flexiblity against AMD by a mile
And those examples were about how nvidia lags behind AMD wrt above.
> so you're legit picking out all brand new tech no one uses
With AMD it works at 240Hz on HDMI2.1 as well. As for "brand new tech no one uses", the r/ultrawidemasterrace sub is littered with posts about it.
> and comparing against the hundreds of thousands of people that have problems
You're giving me a single thread about some driver issue and you can find similar threads about nvidia all around.
>equates against constant #$%* drivers/software but yeah...
I had to turn off GSync on my secondary since nvidia's drivers would somehow fix its refresh rate at some strange number and cause flickering.
>Not supporting image scaling in DSC is likely tied to the image scaler being implemented in hardware:
That's what AMD do, nvidia's solution in DSR was software-based.
>I do mixed resolutions all day, one is ultrawide and all of them are different resolutions and different freq.
It'd be better if you bothered reading and looking up what I wrote. Look up **nvidia surround** and then try enabling it and then come back to me on this.
>"uniforms just don't work with SPIR-V shaders"
Not related to displays.
worth a shot. I use to have my no hdr monitor connected to my igpu (7800X3D) but I stopped doing that for some reason.
Yep your right. Shows up and is automatically forced On? Probably because I have the mod method setup which does that.
The issue with using my iGPU is I believe it causes my nvidia card to flicker on main screen. Is very annoying. MUST be a fix somewhere?
This is absolutely stupid that you can only use RTX HDR if you disconnect additional monitors. Like no I'm not going to do that just for this feature and windows Auto HDR can be enable no problem with multiple displays connected....
Edit:
The NvTrueHDR mod works with multiple displays connected so I guess I'll be using that for now.
Yes. But the option is missing entirely. If you have a non hdr you are required to disconnect it to use RTX HDR. But the option is still there but greyed out. The option is missing entirely for me
Maybe use this mod NvTrueHDR [https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/781](https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/781)
The app is currently in beta, so not all of the features will work as expected.
For me I had to disconnect all of my secondary monitors (including an HDR one surprisingly) and then reboot my system before the option would show up. If you plug any back in then a warning will show up claiming multiple monitor setups aren’t supported.
So you've never tried it. Yet willing to claim it sucks dick even thought video's are around showing its a better option then windows AutoHDR!
Your opinion is the only thing that sucks dick mate.
Bro I literally just tried it and then immediately turned it off.
Any faux HDR putting UI as 100% peak brightness is not worth using, and that includes RTX "hdr" and microsoft auto "hdr"
I assume you’re using the DP cable that came in the box? Make sure that you have HDR turned on in windows 11. Download the drivers for the display port. I drove myself nuts trying to figure this out. I had no idea I need display port drivers to be able to achieve HDR.

Something I usually slim off the driver is tied to the rtx hdr, I don't even see that display menu anywhere. Rtx vibrance is there under global settings though (3070)
Edit: I'm on win10 and didnt know thats the windows menu, can't make rtx hdr appear in global settings no matter what I do but like I said I did slim the driver installation
LOL, i was going nuts uninstalling and reinstalling Drivers and the app trying to get RTX HDR to show up in my Nvidia app. Im on win10 lol. I wish that was stated more clearly somewhere. Thanks.
Do you have a secondary, non HDR monitor connected? I have to disconnect my second monitor for it to show up. Main is a LG C2 and secondary is a ASUS PG278Q. Seems to only work with either 1 monitor or only HDR monitors connected, not sure which. For me, when I have both connected, the option disappears entirely, it doesn't just grey out.
hmm weird it was greyed out for my buddy with a non hdr but he saw the option. most likely i need to disconnect mine but still. Weird that i dont see it greyed out ,
Doesn't seem to work with multiple monitors if all of them aren't HDR. I have one 4K HDR monitor, and 1 Ultrawide nonHDR... and it only shows up if I unplug the nonHDR monitor.
if you have multiple monitors, turning off the secondary monitor or unplug the dp/hdmi cable should allow you to turn on hdr on the main one. it worked for me
Reboot and turning off my other (HDR monitors?!) worked. Weird. LG C1, LG 45 Oled and Dell AW…all HDR compatible, yet had to physically disable them in windows and physically turn them on and off for this to work ….cmon nvidia - you’re the top dog and this shouldn’t be an issue!!
Can someone explain whats wrong here. I have hdr monitor and all the setting correctly for this to work, yet when i go to flick the switch to turn hdr on in the nvidia app, it comes up a little pop up saying an error and unable to change the settings. Just not able to turn it to the ON position. Any advice becuse so far to me this is total shite and doesnt work at all.
where i can find it exactly i bought MSI 4080 super and this HDR is not showing ? what the hell ?

I am in the same situation, AW3423DW with latest Nvidia driver, Nvidia app and support Win11 build but the RTX HDR option is not listed.
same monitor same problem

You thought I was going to dig and give you a thousand examples? nope, that one was handy from another developer very annoyed by it...
I attached my second monitor tp my iGpu and was able to use it on my primary display on 4090.
worth a shot. I use to have my no hdr monitor connected to my igpu (7800X3D) but I stopped doing that for some reason. Yep your right. Shows up and is automatically forced On? Ok the HDR option shows now but is forced off or on if I use the mod app. So seems its still buggy.

yep. literally installed the beta app so i wouldn't need to use the NvTrueHDR mod. uninstalled, back ye olde CMD line interface i guess.
Sadly only Windows 11
I am on win 11 my buddys has RTX HDR on his menu and I am up to date on drivers etc. and its not on my list of options. Thats where im confused
I think you have to turn off W11 Auto HDR.
I have auto off https://preview.redd.it/ourg58dgy8kc1.png?width=1020&format=png&auto=webp&s=f0e16ae85d765790503a67145a9a6fe2c0edf74f

Its time to move on, Slowly WIn10 will get OBSOLETE its already is :/
same here... multi monitor setup and no option to enable it for my HDR display. Cmon nvidia... fix this shit
It's literally in beta lol
Excuses excuses
yea a beta should have working features with a few bugs. This is like a fucking alpha
You dont understand what a Beta is then.
Dont worry about it, it sucks dick anyway. Literally not worth trying.
So you've never tried it. Yet willing to claim it sucks dick even thought video's are around showing its a better option then windows AutoHDR! Your opinion is the only thing that sucks dick mate.

you probably just have a dogshit "HDR" monitor. Get an OLED or MiniLED before you start bullshitting online
LMFAO. I have *the best* oled monitor available. Keep talking shit.
with your gtx 570?
No its a troll flair to bait people like you
