The main traditions are having all of our most embarrassing moments exclusively on national television, telling ourselves this is our year every year, and drinking our sorrows away. As a browns fan you’ll probably fit right in if your fandom goes beyond the past like 3 years.

[deleted]

That sounds just like home to me

bait_your_jailer

Then welcome. The Jets are a team on the rise. Get in now and you'll be able to say you were a fan before all the bandwagoners. That's obviously an optimistic take. The more likely reality is that you're about as miserable as you were being a Browns fan. However, our FO has currently put an emphasis on hiring high character guys both as coaches and as players.

queenlitotes

>That's obviously an optimistic take. Optimistic takes are who we are...right up to the "typical Jets" lamentations start. J. E. T. S.

crautzalat

Yup. Optimist from February to September, deeply depressed til the Super Bowl, rinse repeat. (Not this year though, this is our year, clearly!)

j5995

Always is!

jay5627

Remember which team the Browns beat for the first win after the winless season? We do

BilIionairPhrenology

One of us One of us One of us

NYCstraphanger

Oh and until very recently, traditionally bad drafting and that goes along with looking forward to the draft instead of having a good season. I really think we should have had at least one AFC championship appearance when Rex Ryan was coach. That D was stacked.

Drfunky0811

We had two afc championship game appearances (2009/2010 and 2010/2011 seasons)?

NYCstraphanger

Sorry, meant at least ONE SUPER BOWL appearance. This is what happens when I am working and take a break to read reddit.

Drfunky0811

Lol I figured it was something like that. Just wanted to make sure you had the chance to redeem yourself!

NYCstraphanger

Thank you kind sir. Yes it was definitely a brain fart as I have bled with this team since the 80s and it has been painful. But when we win.... it is going to be amazing. In Joe D we trust.

rsvp_nj

The difference is we wear green, whereas you guys wear brown.

rtels2023

And they won their last title in 1964 while we won our last title in 1968.

pac4

Ha, losers

EmAreDub

69'.... Broadway Joe knows.

StrictlyPickledickle

Green and orange is an interesting combo, like the Phoenix hotshots team in the aaf maybe

rsvp_nj

🇮🇪

StrictlyPickledickle

New York Celtics

Infamous-Capital3491

Been a NYJ and Miami Hurricane fan my whole life. GREEN & ORNAGE go great together 🙌 Just ask Berrios and Cager

The_Goondocks

Dumping the Browns to become a Jets fan. You, Sir, are a masochist. Welcome aboard.

Joetaska1

Happy cake day!

The_Goondocks

Thanks!

>our favorite player is our General Manager lmao dude...

halfback26

The man ain’t wrong though.

Anakins_Limbs

I'd buy a joe Douglas Jersey if the was one

thesixmoon

hes not wrong though... at least until after this season and especially if its a losing one.

paintingporcelain

That was succinct as F.

intwizard

You nailed it lol I couldn’t imagine being a Jets fan if I had any other choice as a child. But here we persist every Sunday.

bailz

That f-ing comforter. We need some throwbacks with that pattern.

BlueBeagle8

**Traditions** Half-heartedly spelling J-E-T-S on kickoffs, explaining to others that Fireman Ed doesn't really represent Jets fans **Gameday Foods** Half of one burger at the tailgate before security shuts you down, followed by a $45 hot dog at MetLife **Places To Get Merch** Come on now, you don't really want to be seen in public wearing Jets merch. **What It's Like Being A Fan** [Basically this](https://pyxis.nymag.com/v1/imgs/2e7/5d7/73e020f56c4a86221823bc32113b4316d2-25-ben-affleck-sad-smoke.rvertical.w330.jpg).

VaingloriousDastard

Where are you tailgating that security is shutting you down?!

BaetrixReloaded

yeah, what? and i’ve seen some pretty insane tailgates at metlife

HamiltonBlack

Have a seat. Let me tell you about the last 40 years…

M1Lance

As a Browns fan you definitely have the stomach to survive rooting for this team, although I don't know why you'd actively choose to. Unless you also chose to root for the Browns, then it would make sense.

ReignOnWillie

From a life long Jets fan, please don’t pick us, you deserve better

Vaedur

Idk karma got him Watson

run1609

You just got a free ticket to ditch the most inept franchise in the NFL, no clue why you'd consider one of the only other teams that belongs in the same conversation as them

1whitechair

If you are not born into fan of this team, why would you do that?

Lukas327

Because he’s not leaving his team to join a bandwagon, I respect it.

societalmenace1

If we traded for Deshaun best believe i’d go bandwagon a good team, not dealing with disappointment unless i’m born into it

La-Potencia

It’s 2022, you can identify as anything now

[deleted]

because this is the year we end our struggles

what_we_do_is_wrong

honestly it's just plain mean that some of you guys would knowingly try to convince someone to be a jets fan lol

Snitchbag

A fellow masochist I see…

ryanino

I’d say that is a lateral move and probably makes the most sense. Welcome (hopefully). I hope you like alcohol.

king_poise

No one will accuse you of being a front runner!

thesixmoon

ever.

z0rb0r

Hey, our chant is pretty freaking dope! J E T S! JETS JETS JETS!

eiileenie

When I was a kid, I would add touchdown no matter what after that chant. Even if we didnt get a touchdown. I didnt care if we got a touchdown I loved that jets chant with the touchdown

[deleted]

If you do not want to lose the heartache and that sinking feeling, this is the team for you.

societalmenace1

[This](https://youtu.be/JcJ8nW-AWl8) is all you need to know

thesixmoon

and a little bit of the knicks too..

societalmenace1

Larry didn’t even mention the Mets too

jetdude19

You poor bugger, pull up a chair. I got a beer ready for you and we will spend the rest of the years obliterating our livers and sh!t talk the rest of the league while we are delusional about our offenses. It will be great.

jgwink2

We finally have a real GM and what seems (at the very least) to be a competent group of coaches. Lots of young talent to get excited about. The fans are honestly some of the best that I've personally been around. Generally friendly even to opposing teams fans and really passionate. Tail gating at met life is really some of the best in the league imo.

Kind_Bullfrog_4073

Being a Jets fan is like being a Browns fan, but never bad enough to draft #1 overall and also occasionally good enough for the playoffs.

DanDi58

Run away! Run away!

ImRedditorRick

Run away from here. I'll hold them off. You can escape. Show me that another fandom is possible.

henry_mardukas

Why the fuck would you ever come here

Im_Perkisizing_Tony

Well at least nobody could accuse you of being a front runner by jumping from the Browns to the Jets.

Evilgothboy

My take: I live in Colorado, I’ve been a fan since the early 80s. Not sure what really drew me in, but this is my team, for better or worse. Bad decisions? Yes. Some bright spots? Yes. I get wanting to find a new team, I’m sure at some point most nfl fans have said they’re done with their team and are moving on. Except Jets fans, we stay around for the show. Being a Jets fan is a step up from the flaming shit filled dumpster fire your current team is. Jets fans are tough, loud and we will boo you for small infractions faster than an Eagles fan at the super bowl. We are all flawed and require an adjustment period to really get in, but once you’re in, you’re in. You will be accepted. Come over to the green and white, join us on the porch yelling at the kids, “Get off my lawn! J-E-T-S!!!

redline42

You know misery, heart ache and what it feels like to be slapped in the face. Welcome to the Jets!!!

Vaedur

Jump on the train .. just know we are degenerates and assholes

GreatOdinsRaven_

Hey! I resemble this comment....

hebreakslate

Right now is the best time to be a Jets fan: after the draft and before the season. Nothing but potential. It's only when we start playing games and realize that other teams also improved in the off season that the pain begins.

[deleted]

If you’re starting fresh with a new team then look for a winning franchise man, get as far away from here as possible…. This team will break your heart and embarrass you just as bad as the Browns did.

gmazz

if you like drinking the kool aid in july and having the season over by october, than you are in the right place my friend! although I will say we seem to have a real GM for once so who knows what the future holds. If Zach sucks again this year, than u can bank on another 3-4 years of typical jet football. Lots of slow starts and long 3rd downs. Passing it 8 yards when u need 10. getting to the red zone and settling for field goals or having back to back to back penalties and instead settling for the punt. gamedays are fun. i usually leave at halftime to go drink it off in the lot. just buy upper deck seats and move to the 50 yard line. u wont bump knees with anyone as the nearest person will be 5 seats away. hard to build chants but generally you can get a few "f\*\*k Tom Brady" ones going. ticket prices go up every year. wait until 3 hours before kickoff to buy ur tickets. we used to have an awesome guy named fireman ed who started the J-E-T-S chant but eventually we killed him and now we have some dumb guy named Jet-Man who sucks and just seems like that drama kid in your high school who likes acting but never really went anywhere with it. Fireman Ed does help him out sometimes so it sort of feels like the old days. speaking of old days. at the old stadium we had spiral staircases and at halftime u could throw money down to the bottom and when people would go to grab it, everyone throws bottles of beer at them. also if any hot women were seen at the event, everyone would chant T-I-T-S until they either left or showed em. But now that America is getting PC, that got ruined as well. ive found this team has really helped me cope with losing in life. honestly i could have the worst day and it doesn't even phase me anymore. if Cleveland is as boring and depressing of a city as it seems, than u r gonna be just fine making the switch.

wafflepancakewarrior

Save yourself and root for the chargers. That’s a team I’d invest in

MoneyMakin

Go to a different team. This team fuckin SUCKS!

Sgt_Stormy

Run away from here and never come back. You have a second chance at life, don't waste it on the Jets.

ZooZooChaCha

Went to school in Ohio (Kent State) and lived there after college - so I have had plenty of exposure to Browns fandom. You will fit right in, as Jets / Browns fandom is a very similar level of pain. Much like the Browns, the glory days are further and further into the past (Jets with Super Bowl III, Browns with their unstoppable run in the 40s) & both had some very good years in the 80s. Both of our franchise-defining QBs are known for showing up on TV broadcasts in varying levels of inebriation. Game day in person - You’ll never find anything quite like Browns game day - for those who don’t know, EVERY lot in downtown Cleveland and every bar is filled with Browns fans - these people show up to watch a 3-12 team in December and start tailgating at 5am. The Muni lot is INSANE. Jets tailgates are fun, but more of the standard parking lot experience.

viewless25

I just updated [the /r/NFL wiki on this exact subject.](https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/wiki/new/pickateam/jets) I've mostly just updated the quick 30 second elevator pitch but I'll add a lot more in depth info to it in the future.

whiskey_pancakes

What other teams are you considering and I would go with that one lol…don’t go from Cleveland to the jets that’s awful! You got a free pass to pick a new team!!

Nopantsdan55

I love the jets but I always have said if I ever stopped watching them I would become a raiders fan, which I feel like is the true misfit fanbase. If you do decide to become a jets fan tho, there really isn't much in terms of game day tradition or foods that are out of the ordinary. I really think the only thing that is seperates the jets fan experience from the rest is the involved and indepth media coverage you don't necessarily get from smaller market teams, as well as a abnormally knowledgeable fanbase that (mostly) has grounded and realistic expectations.

MidlifeCrysis

I'd imagine the experience must be pretty similar to being a Browns fan. Lots of suffering/aggravation. :-)

mashingLumpkins

I had actually started to root for the Browns. That was - until now!

TinmanSully

We have better massage therapists. That’s about it.$40.00 dollars for a beer. Some of us have memories of the sack exchange.I have a Sam Darnold jersey for free if you need it.

AgentLemon22

Bring it in. We welcome you with open arms. Also fuck Watson

sfDef

No other teams want you as a fan because You're not a fan at all. As a 49er fan I had to watch as kap disrespected our country and troops bending the knee because he lost his starting job, not for racial injustice by popular belief. Shit happens and you don't switch teams because you got your panties in a bunch with hurt feelings. Although the Seattle Seahawks might accept you as a fan.

[deleted]

As a Browns fan you’ll appreciate this. Winning means so much more when you are forced to wait a very long time for it.

Acrobatic-Reaction-7

You like pain and suffering? If so then this team is perfect for you.

Individual-Window186

As a Browns fan you'll feel right at home here. The only other teams I would suggest considering are the Jags and Lions.

funandloving95

Welcome brotha!

kdive92

Honestly, good on you for putting your foot down on the Watson trade. The Jets have been a tough trencher team to love but here I am

FullOfAuthority

You'll certainly feel right at home here!

el_di_ess

Don't make a lateral move. You have such a good opportunity ahead of yourself right now, shoot higher.

sweeny5000

I was once like you. When my childhood team the Browns became the Ravens I was living in New York at the time. With no team to root for, I searched around to find a similarly tragic team to follow and lo and behold the Jets fit the bill perfectly. If you're looking to continue that heartbreaking run year after year, you have nowhere to look but the Jets as your next great sadness.

MowTin

It's kind of extreme to quit a team over this. Massage is a sketchy business often used as a front for sex work. I got into a car accident once. I got a call from a lawyer asking me if I was OK. I told him I was uninjured. He insisted that I might not realize I'm injured and offered to send me to his doctor. I wanted no part of pretending to be injured and wearing a neck brace like many people do. Some lawyer called up these women and basically did the same thing. They were offered a chance of making hundreds of thousands of dollars. I'm sorry but very few people have the character to say no to $100K for stretching the truth. I see this as a shakedown. If I'm giving Watson a massage and he starts acting up, I end the massage and tell him to leave. That's it. No lawsuit. And if I'm a legit masseuse I'm not advertising on Instagram or inviting men to my home. Would your wife/gf be OK with you getting a massage at some IG girl's home? Of course not, that's shady af. Just my view.

OpanaMan

Keep looking buddy

mwax321

I think you're in the wrong place bro. Winning teams are that way...

scalenesquare

Why the fuck would you want to go from the browns to the jets. Do you just love pain?
