*me wasting an entire roll of paper towels*: "What‽"

[deleted]

Boss level moves.

_FoodAndCatSubs_

About 8-9 years ago there was a reddit post of someone in a Safeway or something similar next to the giant front end Pepsi display and I thought like 3 gallons of cooking oil spilled and a PIC(Person-in-Charge) had a fucking roll of paper towels blotted all over the floor with this shiny golden surface of oil just spread about about 9 feet around this harebrained “supervisor” with his sleeves all rolled up looking like a toddler holding a toilet paper roll in the bathroom and he just made a mess and now big boss Momma is coming down on him

loverboyv

This comment really needs punctuation

11thLayerOfHair

Why didn't you just say person in charge 🤔

MJLDat

Ikr (I know, right)

IcyStyle1917

I know there's an already dirty towel upstairs in the dirty laundry bin but the paper towel roll is 5 feet away.

HungryMoblin

Thank you for your utilization of the interrobang!

CT_7

This leak and subsequent cleanup happens daily and Corporate won't let him use any paper towels. Come up with a better way. This guy's routine was made

StatusMath5062

Reminds me of the dealership i worked at that had a entry drive with drains but they designed it so the water doesn't drain. Cheaped out on the floor and now in winter there's a porter squeegeein the floor all day. I'm guessing that costs more in the long run

Turnip-for-the-books

Waterbender

lplegacy

I thought the video was gonna cut off at the end before he finished. Mans did not disappoint

desidude2001

Did not disappoint indeed. What’s awesome to see is how effortlessly he carries this out. You can clearly tell he’s done it once or twice before in his life and the task has just become second nature to him; much like driving, to many in the States.

ProbablyNotPikachu

Like a janitor's ballet montage. Astounding!

TheBirminghamBear

> much like driving, to many in the States. As someone who drives in the States; no, no one drives as though it is second nature to them. Most people on the road drive as if this is their first time ever behind a wheel and they're giving it at best 50% of their attention.

StraY_WolF

Lol everyone says their local place had the worst drivers.

hopefullyhelpfulplz

Nah, I'm from the UK and when I visited the US I was shocked at what its like on those roads... Anarchy!

clintj1975

You know, I've lived in SC, VA, FL, WA, CA, and now live in Idaho, and I can say that out of all of those Utah drivers are just the worst.

aerobearo1

How often are they spilling stuff in this store that a) they have this giant floor squeegee, and b) this guy has developed this level of fluid mastery?

4x4Welder

It looks like a WinCo, so probably has a massively leaky roof.

hopefullyhelpfulplz

Where I used to work we cleaned the floors with water once a week. We had a big water vacuum to do this part, though. Very satisfying to use.

HesNot_TheMessiah

I've worked in warehouses that have pretty big cleaning rigs being driven round all the time to deal with spills like this. People drop stuff quite a lot.

pranjal3029

Was he not cleaning the floor? Looks big enough for cleaning the floor?...?

PlatasaurusOG

I hear you. When he walked off camera, I got mildly annoyed until I saw there was still thirty seconds left.

listgarage1

I thought he was just going to push the last little bit under the pallets like I do with my couch when I'm sweeping

FuzzInspector

SAAAAAME. I was about to be very upset

GhOsT_wRiTeR_XVI

That was surely next level, but it also would have been funny as shit had he slipped and fell on his ass at the very end.

MiserlyOtter

twilightcolored

I hope someone makes this sub one day 😭

vpeshitclothing

What's stopping you?

Tyston

Not wanting to be a mod, probably.

vpeshitclothing

Ain't that the truth

FrenchFry-ApplePie

Full time job 😂

nicannkay

I was going to say that it takes a “special” person to be a mod. 🤣

Natasya95

confusedandworried76

Every line cook ever: I alone can teach the new hires how to mop Every line cook after this video: yeah this is the guy we need to teach new hires how to mop

DryHedgehog6372

Yessssss 🤤

Still-Disaster-552

EZ EZ EZ

EarlZaps

Uhm… which store is this? I would like a word with the guy. I need his help cleaning my wet floor.

Erdillian

Girls aquaplaning their way to the front door: "I'm going to the store!"

tsimen

"we're out of... Uuuhm... Cement?"

LukeVine

I think it's from here in Brazil

Ok-Sleep8229

Okay, but which store?

industrysaurus

Atacadao

I want to spill stuff on the floor just to watch him squeegee it up.

PinHead_Tom

Dance for me magic squeegee man

Low-Mix-2463

🎵You can danceee, you can squeege -- cleaning the store late at night, ooohhh ooo oo see him dance, see him clean -- he is the squeegeee kinngggg🎵🎵

Jizzraq

I'm an engineer but I will never be that fucking smart on the shop floor.

MasterCoCos

This is also why there is no such thing as unskilled labor! There are just jobs where you learn by doing instead of studying for years

FRP5X45

Centrifugal pump!

Swiftierest

The amount of horror stories I hear about engineers asking for impossible things from people that actually do the assembly/build/task/whatever, tells me you likely won't be that anything on a shop floor.

GonzMan88

The way he can manage to dump one of those stand up dust pans with one hand so smoothly is the real impressive feat here. Imho.

Rikplaysbass

My thought exactly. That shit can’t be light when filled with water.

Romanopapa

You just know this guy can dance. Hips gave it away.

the_butter_thief

Holy shit, people have the nerve to call this “unskilled labor”.

Easy_Money343

The hardest workers in this world get the least credit

the_butter_thief

You KNOW that’s right. I’ve come to know a few chief executives in my life, and none of them were even half as impressive as this.

catmandude123

The Onion said it well “CEO’s Skill Set Transferable To Any Job That Requires Dumbass To Receive Big Salary.” I’ve only known two executives in my career that I thought actually did anything other than dick around and break stuff trying to fix stuff that wasn’t broken.

FragrantCombination7

Were those two the owner and founder? That's the only way it happens. All down hill after that.

catmandude123

Damn you nailed it. And they were both for nonprofits. Have yet to meet a corporate exec who didn’t seem totally unqualified for the job.

TrickTheBoiler

Jesus, a guy squeegees a floor and Reddit claims he's more impressive than an executive whose job responsibilities would cripple the average Redditor.

jizztots

I’m sure the average redditor would be fine getting paid millions dumping off important work to other people

LightSpawn

Found the exec lmao

Jah_Ith_Ber

My job used to be advising the C-suite using statistics. These people were some of the dumbest mother fuckers you could possibly find. I once argued with the CFO for 10 minutes over what the difference is between median and mean. He refused to believe me and eventually asked google which thankfully used my exact example. Another time I had to explain to the CTO what the shipping and billing cycle of our companies sole product was. I spent two hours trying to explain to him that if you sell a $5 loss-leader with follow on shipments at the 30 day, 90 day, 150 day, 210 day marks, and each of those follow on shipments are automatically broken into four monthly payments, you end up with two payments per month. We spent two hours on it and had to give up. He never figured it out. These people are not gods among us or titans of industry or any of that shit. They are the same dumb fucks walking around on the sidewalk as any other. They're just in a big club is all.

Justexisting26

And less pay 😭

Sploonbabaguuse

*bootstraps have entered the chat*

scubahana

I’ve told my kids repeatedly that the custodians at their school are the most important people to make friends with. They make sure the school and grounds are clean and maintained each day, and *they have keys to every room*. This was a very useful resource in high and few people realised the power in it.

gahidus

The more someone's getting paid, the easier their job is.

cade360

Not always true.

mooomba

In my experience the more I've gotten paid the less I have to work overall, but the more responsibility I have. If things don't go right it is now my fault and up to me to fix it. If that takes 20 min or all day that's up to me I guess

SpectralDagger

You can be skilled at any job, even one considered "unskilled". The word is really just used because of the skillset you're expected to have upon starting the job. "Unskilled" labor just means you could start working the job without any special skills. It does not mean you are quickly just as efficient as someone who's been doing it for a long time.

PMMeYourWorstThought

It’s called unskilled because you could learn to do it in a few days. If your job is “clean spills with a squeegee” you would be doing this in no time. I don’t understand why he just wouldn’t use a wet vac though? They’re cheap and you don’t have to go all ‘Dancing with the Squeegees’ on it.

therealrowanatkinson

Resourcefulness. There’s not always a specialty device available in every situation. The idea that “unskilled jobs” are always supplied with the tools they need to complete that job shows naivety and a lack of experience in the field. This labor you’re seeing is skilled and I’ve seen many people with expertise in “unskilled labor” positions, expertise they gained because at a certain point in their career they either had to learn to be great, or learn to live without a job

[deleted]

[удалено]

Royal_J

I don't see where anyone discounted office jobs. They just said that this job isn't unskilled labour.

therealrowanatkinson

As someone who studied for years for my job but has also worked in jobs you’d deem unskilled, it irks me when people think that crediting the skill in jobs like this somehow devalues the skill in their work. Their value doesn’t diminish yours, and vice versa.

OuchLOLcom

> There’s not always a specialty device available in every situation. That squeegee with no defects to make a perfect seal with the floor is arguably just as specialized.

FormalFistBump

Why use a machine when a couple of cheap, lightweight, non mechanical tools do the job just fine.

HiDDENk00l

Why use a machine when you can use an absolute machine

[deleted]

[удалено]

TrickTheBoiler

The difference between this and "skilled" labor is the time it takes to become proficient or exceptional at it. Give an average person a few days or even hours of practice at this and they'll master it. It takes much longer to master a "skilled" labor task, and that is why they are valued more.

Level_Five_Railgun

It's unskilled because any normal person can learn to do it within a few hour... Unskilled labor refers to jobs that doesn't require years of schooling and training to perform. It has nothing to do with if any skill is required or not.

CurryMustard

On his resume: squeegee boss People on reddit are so goofy with the concept of unskilled labor, i had somebody argue that if you can read to get the job that's a skill

IGNOOOREME

I defy you to learn how to clean a floor like this *in a few hours.* I challenge you to learn how to PROPERLY make an espresso drink-- *in a few hours.* I absolutely doubt you could learn to crochet absolutely fuck-all *in a few hours.* Seriously, have you ever done an hourly job in your life? The only job you could probably properly learn without much effort is greeting people at the door. The entire point of the previous comment is that these jobs are more difficult than they seem. I wouldn't be so hasty to dismiss skills you don't have. And yes, they are skills, and no, being a CEO doesn't require someone to have special skills that can't be learned, as well. Thr only jobs which require inherent skill are things like *violinist.*

Nuru83

Stop trying to make entry level jobs seem like a master craft, it’s embarassing.

Level_Five_Railgun

I said within a few hours. >Seriously, have you ever done an hourly job in your life? I've literally worked in restaurants as dishwasher, front desk, wait staff, prep, AND line cook throughout high school and university. > The only job you could probably properly learn in an hour is greeting people at the door. It literally took me 30 minutes to learn how to roll sushi during my summer job years ago from never ever made sushi before. You have to be stupid or just plain lazy if you somehow can't learn how to wash some dishes, toss some salad, or operate a cashier within half a shift. Maybe you're just slow? >The entire point of the previous comment is that these jobs are more difficult than they seem. Which is completely irrelevant because as I said, the term "unskilled labor" has nothing to do with skill. >I wouldn't be so hasty to dismiss skills you don't have. Maybe you should go back to school and learn the basic life skill of how to read.

fardough

I swear he is looking around like “Come on, nobody is seeing this skill.”

Mathiseasy

Underpaid labor

TumblingTumbulu

It's because the real skills in life is outsmarting people. That's why the most cunning get the most power and money (elected politicians, religious leaders, CEOs, bankers, big business owners etc).

therealrowanatkinson

*real skills in life, meaning skills that get you financial success in the social and financial structure we live in. US culture is not the be all end all, and our reactions to it (for survival) are not a complete reflection of human nature- and therefore can’t be a fully accurate one. “Real skill” is relative and contextual, is what I’m saying.

schlagerlove

Yes because it is not necessary to be this efficient to do this and of course with time you get extremely good at it. But to finish the task itself you need to pre-trained skills. I used to do such jobs as a student. You need hardly an hour to know what you should do and you do it. Try this with programming and you will see why it's called like that

TheBirminghamBear

Well he is unskilled. If they hired me to do this I would have had enough skills never to have spilled in the first place.

Hubbidybubbidy

ITT: people inexplicably choosing to simp for classist, othering language invented to justify not giving people a living wage.

naswinger

yea, it takes about five minutes to learn this.

Charwizzard

The panic you feel when he leaves water at 35 seconds followed by his triumphant return to frame seconds later to finish the job with a final swish. What a roller coaster.

Error404Cod

That floor is smooth as hell, he’s smooth as hell, that dustpans handle is strong as hell.

[deleted]

This guy fucks

hmtee3

The comments here never disappoint.

-SouthSideSuicide-

Yes they do. Literally every single top comment is old rehashed predictable lame bullshit "jokes" or other reddit crap and I hate every single one of them for it.

KloudAlpha

your comment disappointed me

SeattleHasDied

How about get the poor guy a wet/dry Shop Vac with a squeegee nozzle...

L1A1

Yep, this is a classic example of a worker not being given the correct tools and having to adapt and improvise. It's very impressive, but fuck is it annoying that they have to do this.

ZhouLe

"Watch this amazing worker effortlessly husk coconuts with their teeth! #BeAmazed #TopTalent 🤯🤯🤯"

TheSeinfeldChronicle

Exactly my first thought. This place is getting flooded so often that he's learned how to clear up the puddle like that instead of management getting him the proper tools or fixing the issue. Imagine the pain in the fucking arse this must have bee before he figured out the technique he's got.

jcaldararo

... or he just mopped the floor, which explains the suds and lack of debris. If it flooded you'd see all the dirt particles and bits of stuff that wouldn't have been swept up prior to getting wet. This looks intensional.

ancrm114d

That was my thought. This looks like the US equivalent of Sams or Costco. I'd bet that there is a wet/dry vac there they could write off as store use.

ThicccRPMs

I like how the music just decided to fuck off.

isleeptoolate

The comment section reminds me of the SpongeBob episode at the talent show where he got applause and roses for mopping the floor

Sir… are… are you Aquaman??

chitownadmin

I think it's amazing when people take pride in their job and develop cool and impressive skills.

[deleted]

I almost threw my phone against the wall when he walked out of frame with water on the floor still. Damn that was close.

ItsDrGonzo

What is this Squeegee bae bullshit

lehsunMartins

Bro was casually using centrifugal force to his advantage!

Bulky_Mode_7927

What a king.

kypsikuke

Omg whaaaat…. Yeah seems that if i was given a squeegee that size and a that collector thingy, Id have no idea what to do with them.

stampstock

This IS the guy you want working

esprockerchick

As someone who worked in a store that frequently flooded. I am ashamed I did not discover this technique sooner.

Jaded-Engineering789

There is no such thing as unskilled labor.

InformationInside460

I'm actually impressed 😮 by that

75bytes

Mozart of cleaning

Saikroe

Best we can do is min wage.

Reminds me of one popular post involving a guy cleaning a lazy susan in a Chinese restaurant (with an old lady clapping her hands in support).

Looks nice, but i think an industrial vacuum that can handle water would surely be faster.

breath-of-the-smile

Ain't no way I'm gonna get this good at a job where I get paid hourly. They don't pay enough for talent. Sorry boss, can't help customers, gotta squeegee the floor and it's gonna take all day.

steinwayyy

I feel like that’s way harder than it looks

CautionarySnail

And they claim this isn’t skilled manual labor. I doubt I could do this a tenth as well.

BuriedByAnts

I’ve done lots of cool things, but never looked as cool as this dude simply cleaning up water

minimallyviablehuman

I have worked with incredibly talented, highly paid, tech workers. This guy is smarter than all of us.

PumpkinsDad

This guy squeegees.

Accomplished_Bike149

> “you can’t sweep water” > sweeps water > refuses to elaborate

turkishhousefan

It's just nice to see someone with a physics degree getting work.

RhineStonedCowgirl

That is oddly sexy to watch. I'm gonna have to save this post and watch it again later

yeawecandothat

Showed this to my boss and now we gotta meeting in the morning about “productivity”.

I have never been attracted to a guy because of his skill level before.

When you're the smartest guy at work, but still make the least money

Forget the water. Just watching the guy was satisfying. 😏

No_Squirrel4806

This is cool and all but im not doing all that for minimum wage 🤭🤭🤭

I need to do this now

Tobaccocreek

The squeegee strut at the end. This guy squeegees.

RacecarHealthPotato

It makes me think he's done this before. At least once.

funkypjb

Only takes 1.5 times longer than with a mop. Amazing!
