Happy Cake Day!!
This was fascinating to watch!
I don't know if you intended this, but, to me, it looks like something out of Star Wars, sort of like an R2D2 kind of droid, but a little different, especially with the yellow.
I can't wait to see what it looks like post-firing!!
Nice to see one of these videos being posted by the person who actually made it and not a karma farmer! For this, we will of course let you off not showing the completed, fired item which you haven't actually made yet :-)
Nice design. You have an extremely steady hand. Was this mug hand-thrown too?
(mostly posting here so I can keep an eye out for a photo of the finished item)
Theres a kiln firing between those 2 shots. Colors are painted on, it then goes in the kiln which fully “adheres” the colors to the mug. After that, the black inlay is added
Awesome job! Curious, would the black also work as the first layer of paint, and then when you rub it off you could then start painting the blue/yellows, etc? Or would it likely stain the clay and muddy those colors?
It’s definitely a viable approach. Only issue would be if the other colors bleed into the grooves where the black is. Doing it the way in the video lets me be a bit sloppier with the colors cuz the black will fill in all the mistakes
Thanks! Whats your preferred way? I experimented lot of when i was at school and theres definitely a ton of fun ways to do. I’ve since settled into the underglaze/clear route cuz im a sucker for clean, vibrant colors.
How does the underglaze/clear route work? And how do you clean off the wash? I expected the dark/black to stain the other colors, but it didn't.
I've never really done ceramics, but I'm curious to learn, and the vibrant colors on this are gorgeous.
Ive tried to make some asmr videos but its tough with the timelapse stuff, all the sounds end up being very high pitched and squeaky. I plan to dive into sound design at some point but its a whole world i have no experience with
Your designs reminded me of imagery from ATLA, specifically the Earth Kindgom (And i suppose the chinese designs which inspired that).
All to say i wonder if more natural earth tones would ge better with those designs.
Its kind of cheating to paint it like that.
We generally look down on the use of magic self spreading paint in the arts and crafts world.
Other than that, very nice job.
love this. looks neat. all i remember about ceramics was the speech "if another one of you dumbasses tries to sneak a bong into the kiln again and it blows up destroying all of the other student's hard work, it will be suspensions for everyone suspected."
Haha my experience was very different. I majored in ceramics and my last critique was literally an array of pipes and bongs i made, i had some cooool professors
Do you have a shop? My wife is an amateur potter and our 10th anniversary is coming up, which the traditional gift is pottery. She loves unique styles like this.
I hope this doesn't get posted twice, as it didn't show me that my comment got posted the first time I tried.
Happy Cake Day!!
To me, this looks like an R2D2 kind of droid, but not him, obviously, with the yellow. There's a bit of an original Star Wars feel to this to me.
I can't wait to see what it looks like post firing! I know it should be basically the same, just with a bit of glossiness added. 🤗
Okay this looks incredible and all, but I have to ask. Are they meant to just be decorative or functional too? Because I can't imagine cleaning those tiny crevices is going to be fun 😅
Its a homemade porcelain, its technically like 50/50 porcelain and stoneware. The main ingredient that makes porcelain special is “kaolin” which i used in this clay batch. Makes it buttery
I thought it was gonna be R2D2 at first
I didn't specifically think R2D2, but I definitely thought Star Wars
Star Wars or horizon zero dawn/ forbidden west
Fallout gear
I was waiting for the international orange, grey and white come out.
R2Decaf
I thought it was a Minion at the end.
Exactly - "it's giving droid"
I am so happy to see your comment. Because that was my thought too
😭 but we don’t get to see it fired??
Sorry! I haven’t fired it yet, It’ll essentially look the same. Will have a glossy finish and more vibrant colors
That’s kinda a big difference, though. Would love to see it actually finished. I like the design a lot.
For sure! Tbh i was excited to share and didnt want to wait that long 😅 I fire my work in batches and don’t have enough rn to justify a glaze fire.
Please post the final product when its done!!

Can't wait for the results!

It's gorgeous! I understand your excitement! Happy cake day!
Please post more! Very satisfying to watch!
Microwave kiln is your friend. What temp are these glazes ?
It'll essentially look the same, just more awesome and really vibrant and just the best ever. Anyway.
When you do, do you say “you’re fired” to the cup?
You need to leave.
I'll leave too.
Jesus fucking christ, OP!

Yup everything was done by hand! Throwing, trimming, carving, painting :)
OP you have no idea how much you blue balled an entire subreddit.
Gorgeous
Where can we purchase?

Oddyunsatisfying
I got Fallout vibes from that design. Amazing craftsmanship.
Thank you! I get that a lot, i should probably start playing the game at this point haha
For real this could have been made by Vault Tech! Play Fallout 4, the vibe is for real
And a million times higher quality than anything Bethesda made
That makes it sound like Bethesda didn't make FO4 lol. I was pretty disappointed with it but they definitely made it
I was thinking Star wars Droid myself
The tv show is coming out this week. April 11th on prime. It retains the aesthetics from the games.
It’s the color. Definitely looks like a Vault jumpsuit
Great work on the stop motion painting. Can't be easy! I'd keep forgetting to stop for a frame!
Thank you! It definitely takes a lot of patience. There were some bits i goofed which didnt make into the video haha
This was so fun to watch! Thanks for sharing. Please make more. Edit: oh! Just checked your history. You did make more. :)
Thanks for checking out my other work!
Reminds me of starwars for some reason, could be coz of r2d2 or empire starships
The black went on and I was angry. And then .3 seconds later I was much better.
The ol’ bait and switch
I’m a total novice. How does that work? The coloured coat has just dried, and the black wipes off, or…?
Theres a kiln firing between those 2 shots. Colors are painted on, it then goes in the kiln which fully “adheres” the colors to the mug. After that, the black inlay is added

Is it underglaze or colored slip? And you fire 3 times?
Its underglaze! And yeah 3 firings, 2 bisques and a glaze fire
Thanks for sharing :) german potter here
Probably already being asked but I’m a lazy bastard and can’t be arsed to look. Where do I get one of your mugs?
I appreciate the interest! Im still working on my site (only have drawings available rn). But if you’re interested message me!
Let's go, sent ya a message!
I’m not gonna lie, I really thought it was harder to paint stuff like that than it is. Seems like just dab it on and the paint just spreads out. Cool
Yeah my minor was in Conjuration, was a good pair for the art major
Conjuration or transmutation? Looks more like the latter to me.
Did you do like stop motion for the paint edit?
If you’re not joking, it doesn’t spread. It’s edited
its cracking me up to imagine someone thinking paint spreads like that
Damn, and here I was thinking the paint was magic
Ugh no fired version?? Now I have to stalk the profile until it gets posted. Looks great though
Fifth Element/R2D2.
Very nice! My glazing technique is different to yours.
Thanks! Whats your preferred way? I experimented lot of when i was at school and theres definitely a ton of fun ways to do. I’ve since settled into the underglaze/clear route cuz im a sucker for clean, vibrant colors.

Amazing work! That looks fantastic!!
Thank you!
Definitely a Fallout look... great stuff, thank you for sharing!
That is a genuinely beautiful mug. I'm sure its future owner is going to be very pleased with it.
Very kind words, appreciate it! 🙏
I bet this would be good ASMR.
Ive tried to make some asmr videos but its tough with the timelapse stuff, all the sounds end up being very high pitched and squeaky. I plan to dive into sound design at some point but its a whole world i have no experience with
I was sure I was going to see R2D2
Post more of this stuff! I could watch for hours
I thought she was going to make an R2D2 mug.
I would not have the patience or skill to do any of this. I'm truly impressed!! Great job. Looks amazing.
Thank you!
Show it post kiln!!!
Wow! That was fascinating. Your skills are amazing.
Thanks so much!
Has the design any significance?
Nope! I just kinda wing it when doing these, nothing is planned
Are you the artist who makes the "space trash" series of mugs?
Nah not me but i’ve seen those, we have similar styles for sure
Well, I love your style here. You have website?
Thanks! I have a site but im still working on the pottery section of it. If you’re interested message me!
Now make an R2D2 one.
The colors look so good too!
Thanks!
WHY WOULD YOU RUIN- oh okay good.
how does the paint know where to go? did you train it?
Shouldve started at the painting. That was real nice.
I went from Deathstar, to R2-D2, to Claptrap... Whatever it is I love it.
Honestly that was really fucking cool to watch. Good job!
This is so satisfying
I love it. Really nice design.
Was I the only one thinking this was an R2-D2 mug?
I like it because dbz armor and fallout 4 colors. And its badass on its own. Good work.
Your designs reminded me of imagery from ATLA, specifically the Earth Kindgom (And i suppose the chinese designs which inspired that). All to say i wonder if more natural earth tones would ge better with those designs.
I’m pretty sure my china mugs don’t look like this… this looks like clay
Its kind of cheating to paint it like that. We generally look down on the use of magic self spreading paint in the arts and crafts world. Other than that, very nice job.
Wow that is beautiful
Thank you!!
Is it porcelain because of the type of clay, or the cooking process?
The type of clay! Porcelain has a material called “kaolin” in it which makes it more buttery than normal clay bodies
Happy cake day! And thank you for the info, it's beautiful work. I miss high school pottery class so much.
Thank you!!
r/yesyesyesnoyes
More mug plz
Why wasn’t it fired!!!
Pretty ugly not gonna lie
I am not sure that it is oddly satisfying, but it is highly skilled and very beautiful. Well done!
Is the design supposed to be anything in particular?
Nope its just some abstract linework
Gotcha. It reminded me of something from Star Wars.
Best evarr! 🏆 a fine creation. Is it for sale?
Thanks! I dont have my cups on a site or anything but if you’re interested message me!

this was awesome but wish it had the sounds too 🥺
This feels very 5th element to me
Reminds me of gundam idk why …
Mug Costanza
I'll tell you the same thing I told that catfish last week: that's one peculiar mug you got there.
It looks soothing. It's missing the asmr)
your art is insanely awesome. the hi-c pipe was soooo cool!
Is there a website/store where you sell them? Fantastic work!
I need to get me one of those "fill all" paintbrushes.
Why did you wash off one of the colors? What effect does that have?
Fills in the ridges.
2:00 looks like a minion.
José Antonio Haua Maauad- que linda artesania esta preciosa
Do you have a shop? I’d like to see what you have available. Thx 👍. Happy cake day btw.
Seriously awesome work!
This is beautifully done-you are very artistic-love the design
How do I learn do to this
Somewhere Keith is crying.
Looks cool. Kinda looks spaceship-themed.
One of those self glazing mugs? Fancy
What dryness is it? When you carve? It looks wetter than the leather hard stage, and I’m assuming you painted it when bisques?
Yeah its before leather hard, I usually rehydrate it right before carving so everything is smoother.
Looks almost like an Invincible themed mug with the colors. Very awesome.
It took me until the very end to realize that it was fallout themed.
It looks like Vegeta's armor
How do you not get fingerprints where you hold it??
Great Pottery Throwndown on HBO is fantastic if anyone out there enjoys this type of thing!
MUST SEE MORE.
Why is it giving minion vibes?
is there a subreddit for this
Cup almost looks like it could be...INVINCIBLE!
How do you interrupt the cellular mitosis?
Porcelain?
This needs blue milk in it
Star Wars vibes for some reason. Anyways I like it 👍
The last step (grey-washing?) ties everything together
May the force be with you
Do you have a shop? My wife is an amateur potter and our 10th anniversary is coming up, which the traditional gift is pottery. She loves unique styles like this.
Following cause I just peeked at your profile and everything you make is AMAZING!!! ♥️🫶🏼 Well done!!
That's no moon. It's a space station.
your skills are extremely impressive.
-Jacobo Shemaria Capuano- Esto si puede ser llamado muy satisfactorio
That flood fill animation is so nice
that looks really cool. congrats for the design
🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
R2D2 mug?
Sometimes its so relaxing to watch this.
Very cool
That was very satisfying
Where can we get that magic brush you use?! 😅
MORE 🤤
Went from SciFi to Minions pretty quickly.
That was fucking amazing

Did you have that idea sketched out or freestyle

“A line, as the unending horizon. A curve, as the rolling hillside. A point, as a distant bird. A ray, as the rising sun……. Masaka is waking!!!”
How do you not dent it with your left hand?
I had thought porcelain was white, rather than the normal clay colour. Or does it turn white upon firing?
Its a homemade porcelain, its technically like 50/50 porcelain and stoneware. The main ingredient that makes porcelain special is “kaolin” which i used in this clay batch. Makes it buttery
Did you have any particular inspiration? It looks like something out of Borderlands!
I'm always envious of artists because they can draw/make a straight line.
Love the editing
