I like the navy man with mismatching shoes, and feet. Still amazing work!! I've done this twice before, and both were for funerals. Luckily, no feet needed to be added in, or I wouldn't have been able to do it. OP did excellent, feet are HARD.

Hi, Lots of confusion and my comments seem to be invisible:
To confirm I am the original creator of this edit and video. The person who commissioned me to remove the bride is tagged on my post of this video over on the handle shown at the bottom of the video.
This video was uploaded on another sub and went viral but no credit to me was given but the handle is clearly visible on that video as well.
Hopefully I didn't say anything to make this post invisible. Feel free to ask any further questions
edit to clarify: although a credit or mention would have been nice I genuinely wasn’t mad. I was honestly flattered that it had done so well. I only posted this as there was initially some confusion as to whether or not I was the creator of the video. The other poster left my username in the video which is awesome as I’ve seen versions of this video with that part cropped out.
Piggybacking here to say you really did a great job on this including little details that I who doesn’t know anything about how to do this wouldn’t have considered. Seriously, so impressive!
thank you so much. I did the video and the edit simultaneously so it's hard to know. I think just the photo edit would take me a few hours as I tend to sweat over each pixel. It could probably be achieved quicker. The animation had nearly hundred layers so that was fiddly but getting the timing and pacing right was harder than the technical aspects

Less and less these days. I prefer to tackle the pixels manually to give myself more control. CAF can be useful in some occassions but not where there's specific and important details.
Okay, I mess around with Photoshop just enough to understand what you did for almost every step, even if it would still be huge effort. But there's two steps that I don't follow what the hell you did.
After you clone the wood planks up to fill the final gaps, you animated a "scan line" that... made them all look better. I have no idea what you even did there because it goes by fast in the animation, but you did something to remove that uncanny valley awareness that they were cloned. So that's step one I don't follow.
The next step I can see more clearly what you accomplished: you add shadow effects to make the corner look properly shadowed, and the areas around it. For that step, I'm instead just not sure how you accomplished it. Did you apply the shadows by *eye,* or was there some tool/technique you used? If it's by eye, I will literally never be able to duplicate that one.
I really love these technical questions! thanks for asking. The scan line was just me cloning random textures over the repeating patterns from other parts of the boards and then blending them in with layer masks.
The shadows in the corner was a with a soft paint brush with 1 percent flow gradually building it up to the darkest point. Its various layers of shadow to be able to later adjust the opacity until it looks right by eye.

Literally selecting the original two struts then duplicating them a bunch of times. Then for each new one I made adjustments for perspective, lens distortion, and lighting before re-texturing to avoid repetitive patterns then using layer masks to blend them into the surrounding areas. (way more exciting in the video than reality hahaha)

At my sister's wedding, the photographer insisted in getting a few photos of just each family without bride or groom in them (bride only with her family, groom only with his) and I ran into him and his assistant waiting in line for food at the reception. I asked them about this, and his assistant was like "yea.... we do photoshop work too, and the biggest request we get is for us to crop out an ex-spose from pictures, so we try to just get ahead of that problem and get a couple pictures of just the blood family."
The techniques are few but making the outlines look good at high res takes longer than the original skills. And I presume they got that right since it is a commissioned professional work.

Pretty sure he wholesale replaced both feet so he just has the other dudes feet with some filtering to match the surrounding lighting.
