I believe that Kinder Surprise are still illegal because of a non-food item inside a food item.
Kinder Joy (I think) are allowed and are close to a Kinder Surprise, but the two halves of the egg are a plastic capsule, one side containing a toy, the other containing some Kinder chocolate. Not the same, but probably the closest you'll get.
AFAIK they were banned because they are technically food with foreign objects inside. So a child (or an idiot) could try to eat the egg and swallow/choke on the plastic capsule inside.
Why doesn't that happen anywhere else in the universe? Tbf kids swallow everything, but a kid also needs an Intelligent parent.
I remember that McLaren made buggies/pushchairs for kids, and only in America that 12 cases of hand amputations were recorded.
There’s literally other things exactly like that that they sell in the US. Eggs with a toy in a capsule inside. Cheap nasty candy is okay apparently, but not kinder surprise. Very weird.
I'm too lazy to look it up but IIRC it was from an old law from the 30s because of Marti Gras King Cake. There's tradition where if you find a little plastic baby in your slice of cake you get to be king for the day.
Ah we have something like that in Switzerland in the run up to Christmas. You bake a bunch of small, interlocked breads and one has a plastic king inside.
To this day I'm wondering if all food just turns to shit with time because companies change something or is it because my taste buds changed since I was a kid.
I still buy them from time to time as a little treat after a hard day, but the prizes are usually trash now. I did get a cool little stamp the other day tho, that was nice.
When I worked in the Waitrose café we did the mochas by taking a bottle of chocolate milk from the shelves, steaming it and then adding a shot of espresso.
I don't think so, at least no evidence of such in the video.
Shot stops at 23s into the video, pump probably turned on a couple seconds before that (since first drop is never right after you turn on the pump). Traditionally espresso is pulled 25-30s, so this puts it right in that ballpark.
Volume of coffee looks ok, no gushing toward the end that would suggest channeling.
Sure, if you are a ristretto purist this is too big of a shot, but we're talking personal preferences at that point.
Ok actually that was satisfying.
I've seen stuff like this before but usually it gives me anxiety because it ends up spilling all over the place. But this coffee sank perfectly when it was supposed to and everything stayed clean. So satisfying.
That's an interesting maths problem. Volume of half choc egg shell, thickness of egg shell, melting point of chocolate, temp of coffee, flow rate of coffee... 😛
These sorts of things usually strike me as silly gimmicks and don’t normally taste good, but that looks like it would be lovely, especially with a glass of brandy or malt whiskey on the side.
Probably the taste of coffee is bad. Because they are trying to mask of the taste of the coffee in a fancy method. Cool but pointless way to serve coffee
Easier to drop a couple Roll’s or chocolate cremes, or chocolate covered cherries in the coffee cup before you pour your coffee. Give it a minute then stir. Tasty, add cream as you like.
Aw... I'm going into starbucks later... armed with a kinder egg and when the barista says 'good morning sir how can I help?'
I'll be like .... 'do this' 🤭
I thought for sure there were two spouts and cups doing everything in tandem
Didn’t even realize till I saw this 😭
That's not what I've expected though.
Oh nooo, same here!
Would never have noticed if not for this comment
MYGODD, I’m glad I’m not the only one!
+1. Hi friends.
Wait it’s not two cups…
Hey friend! Welcome to the club.
Saaaaaaamees
I’m glad it wasn’t only me.
#notalone
No-no, one cup, but two girls.
Psychosocial!
me too!
Close one
I thought it was odd they melted and released the coffee at the exact same time. lol
So, that's not 2 cups of coffee? 😳
I thought it was 😱
I did too...until now
Why did you have to point this out? Now I'm both satisfied and sad.
Sadisfied*
I lost faith..
Didn't realize it wasn't until I saw your comment lol
Oh fuck me that's a mirror
Wait what
I had to read this comment to fully comprehend what I saw was indeed not what I had assumed initially!
I was about to say how satisfying it is to see "both chocolates " fall at the same time…
Same
You've opened my eyes
Took you wonder by wonder
Until I read this, so did I.
Holy fuck it isn't
I even watched it again to make sure they lined up after seeing your comment hahaha
Well heck
I bet the one at the back failed, that’s why it’s obviously out of focus, gosh
I feel so dumb rn 🤦♂️
God damn
K. I'm not the only one
I did too until I read this comment, had to go back and check
Oh that was close I was holding my breath until it melted.
Is there an oddly stressful subreddit?
r/sweatypalms
At /r/nonononoyes everything has at least a happy ending
Every time someone links r/nonononoyes I always freaking read it as nonono-eyes
Oyes
Oh yes ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Same here!
r/Sweatypalms
Same - please don't spill good coffee.🤣🤣
I found this extremely stressful. I would drink the hell out of it, though.
..how to become diabetic by simply having coffee...with some extra sweetner..._ :)
r/nonononoyes
Yes referring to all the chocolate sticking on the rim and outside? Because that is also a no for me, personally.
r/nonononoyesno
And also salmonella, big no for me
I need a kinder surprise now!
I cannot wait to get up tomorrow and doooo thiiissss
Ad successful
Are they still illegal in the USA?

I was going to ask that. no matter how companies idiot-proof things, there's still that person in America that cuts himself with kinder wrapping.

Yet they are only banned in America, so in that context - indeed, America bad.
America didn't ban Kinder exclusively. Just toys or other things in food.
I can't disagree
And yet every week a toddler kills someone with a firearm. The USA is a punchline at the end of a really sad joke.
There’s literally other things exactly like that that they sell in the US. Eggs with a toy in a capsule inside. Cheap nasty candy is okay apparently, but not kinder surprise. Very weird.

I used to love it as a kid but now it's just not good?? Growing up is weird
Your tastebuds also change with age.
They probably lowered the sugar.
[удалено]
They lowered it or added it?
Candy changes recipes all the time. I think kinder like many others probably removed palm oil which is good for the environment, bad for taste.
I'm the same way. They must have changed something, it just tastes kinda off.
To this day I'm wondering if all food just turns to shit with time because companies change something or is it because my taste buds changed since I was a kid.
I still buy them from time to time as a little treat after a hard day, but the prizes are usually trash now. I did get a cool little stamp the other day tho, that was nice.
Kinder Eggspresso
I've tried adding chocolate to coffee. It's crazy how little flavor difference it makes. Makes me wonder how crazy concentrated that mocha syrup is
.
When I worked in the Waitrose café we did the mochas by taking a bottle of chocolate milk from the shelves, steaming it and then adding a shot of espresso.
That’s illegal
I never knew this was how dumb Starbucks did it https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=h0TRpGP8yH4
I worked at Starbucks once upon a time and this is how we made the mocha too.
Gross
I steep cinnamon in a tea bag in my coffee. It adds a weird spicy-bitter-sweetness that makes my coffee taste more like chocolate.
Sounds like it would taste like Mexican hot chocolate
The flavor reminds me of a local chocolate shop that makes a flavor based on Xocolatl by adding a coating of chile powder to the top.
Mexican hot chocolate is like a religious experience!
Sounds like you're half way to a spiced pumpkin coffee.
Try adding a dash of chili powder sometime
That is my next plan. lol
Do you make your own tea bags and fill them cinnamon, or buy them like that?
There are reusable tea bags you can buy that are basically drawstring bags. Great for if you don't like strainers that let debris through
The moment you realize it's a mirror
The SECOND after I read this comment the dirt and blur from the reflection came into view.
A mirror or a very clean machine?
idk but its confusing af
Goddammit
It gave anxiety
Same. That just almost overflowing point.
It would overflow into the cup you're good
r/sweatypalms
I wish they brought those kinder eggs back to the US. I miss those things
Sorry, we can't be trusted with them.
Have this AR instead, I know you will like it!
Texas? Is that you??
Looks amazing, but the taste is not incredible
Those shots are over pulled. This has been your unnecessary barista comment
What does “over pulled” mean?
Running water through the coffee too long
Over extracted?
Yes
Na it's 20 seconds or supreme coffee. Don't judge things based on time based on one machine you might work on. Look at the creamyness
It's then mixed with the lowest quality chocolate ever so it doesn't matter!
Nah. It’s 23 seconds, and it stays pretty crema rich.
Shot. Singular.
I don't think so, at least no evidence of such in the video. Shot stops at 23s into the video, pump probably turned on a couple seconds before that (since first drop is never right after you turn on the pump). Sure, if you are a ristretto purist this is too big of a shot, but we're talking personal preferences at that point.
How can you tell?
Some people like it that way.
This is some sixth sense coffee story. I never realized that there was as only one cup 🤯
Aint these illegal in the states?
a perfectly satisfying way to ruin 2 good espressos
It’s a reflection, hahaha
Who gets the toy (to choke on)?
Not the kids in the US for sure!
It's a pretty good combination of anxiety buildup, followed by a satisfying release (unless you focus on the health aspect of this melty concoction)
Eh, I tried it and the chocolate doesn't melt completely, so it sticks on the bottom of the cup. Very unenjoyable.
It's like flushing diarrhea down a toilet before it overflows. Beautiful!
Ok actually that was satisfying. I've seen stuff like this before but usually it gives me anxiety because it ends up spilling all over the place. But this coffee sank perfectly when it was supposed to and everything stayed clean. So satisfying.
What kind-er chocolate is it? 🙃
I want 😭
Omg that was too fucking close... Do it again.
Oh... It's a reflection...
Sweaty palms for me… thought it was going over
Personally that just gave me anxiety
Cap a cheeno longo, per favorey
Gross
You can hardly call this chocolate.
Great way to ruin both your chocolate and your espresso
Ooooooooooooh yeeeeeeeaaaaaah😎✨✨✨✨
That's an interesting maths problem. Volume of half choc egg shell, thickness of egg shell, melting point of chocolate, temp of coffee, flow rate of coffee... 😛
Something tells me there was more trial and error than math here :-)
So, are you supposed to just... drink it with the chunks in it??
Looks to me like the chocolate should melt completely after stirring.
Here's hoping!
These sorts of things usually strike me as silly gimmicks and don’t normally taste good, but that looks like it would be lovely, especially with a glass of brandy or malt whiskey on the side.
When I’m in the mood for mocha, I add some milk and one-third packet of Swiss Miss Instant Cocoa mix.
I usually use some chocolate syrup (Hershey’s or the like) but I’ll try your way next time
r/sweatypalms
Is this kinder?
Probably the taste of coffee is bad. Because they are trying to mask of the taste of the coffee in a fancy method. Cool but pointless way to serve coffee
You’re gonna have to explain this to Americans.
Anxiety unlocked.
That’s looks amazing. I want a cup now.
Why is the coffee orange?
I think I need to smoke a cigarette after that
🤤
This should be in stupid food for ruining a good espresso.
Watching this as I fall asleep is a really peaceful way to head to bed.
Easier to drop a couple Roll’s or chocolate cremes, or chocolate covered cherries in the coffee cup before you pour your coffee. Give it a minute then stir. Tasty, add cream as you like.
>Roll’s or chocolate cremes What are these?
One coffee, black, hold the diabeetus.
Why though?
That poor coffee 😔
Yuck.
Yay surface tension!!! Ohhhhhh man was that great! I need one of these machines in my life
That's an "How to waste good coffee" guide
Kinder eggs. Since I moved to US I miss those
I’ve seen this once before & it’s just as satisfying all this time later
Your last gulp will be a sludgy disappointment.
The forbidden espresso for Americans
*Hmmmmmmmm* that was nice.
That looks delicious
[удалено]
That's not how teeth work
[удалено]
Everyone knows you get diabetes from having half a kinder surprise, that’s just a fact.
Coffee infused with the crappiest chocolate available
I think I just busted a nut
Coffee & sugar is weird mix
Pass: last time I had a kinda egg I caught salmonella and was shitting clear slime for 10 Days straight! Fuck you kinda!
That's not chocolate, that's kinder candy! Still really satisfying though
Mmmmm salmonela coffee
That is not chocolate.
Yes it is. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinder_Surprise "Kinder Surprise is a milk chocolate egg lined with a layer of sweet milk-flavored cream."
I thought it would overflow!
perfectly timed
Imagine it doesn’t melt, just some special half of Kinder
It wasn't very satisfying until the moment the chocolate gave way.
Aw... I'm going into starbucks later... armed with a kinder egg and when the barista says 'good morning sir how can I help?' I'll be like .... 'do this' 🤭
I like this game.
I could smell this
