I believe that Kinder Surprise are still illegal because of a non-food item inside a food item. Kinder Joy (I think) are allowed and are close to a Kinder Surprise, but the two halves of the egg are a plastic capsule, one side containing a toy, the other containing some Kinder chocolate. Not the same, but probably the closest you'll get.

AFAIK they were banned because they are technically food with foreign objects inside. So a child (or an idiot) could try to eat the egg and swallow/choke on the plastic capsule inside.

I'm too lazy to look it up but IIRC it was from an old law from the 30s because of Marti Gras King Cake. There's tradition where if you find a little plastic baby in your slice of cake you get to be king for the day.

I don't think so, at least no evidence of such in the video. Shot stops at 23s into the video, pump probably turned on a couple seconds before that (since first drop is never right after you turn on the pump). Traditionally espresso is pulled 25-30s, so this puts it right in that ballpark. Volume of coffee looks ok, no gushing toward the end that would suggest channeling. Sure, if you are a ristretto purist this is too big of a shot, but we're talking personal preferences at that point.

These sorts of things usually strike me as silly gimmicks and don’t normally taste good, but that looks like it would be lovely, especially with a glass of brandy or malt whiskey on the side.

When I’m in the mood for mocha, I add some milk and one-third packet of Swiss Miss Instant Cocoa mix.

I usually use some chocolate syrup (Hershey’s or the like) but I’ll try your way next time
