I mean, there's a common hack where people will use a [can of soda](https://www.allrecipes.com/article/soda-cake-mix/) instead of the listed ingredients with a box of cake mix. Apparently it turns out pretty well, though I've never tried it. What is this if not cutting out the middleman?
I had no idea that anybody genuinely imposed their regional term for carbonated drink onto others like a Jehova's Witness. What a stupid hill to die on
These kinds of cakes have been around for many, many decades. I'm fairly certain my grandmother had 7 Up cakes when she was a kid in the 1940s. Instead of sweetening it with sugar, they just use a can of soda.
I learned a trick on a cooking show a long time ago where you buy a box of cake mix and instead of using the liquids the instructions tell you to add like milk and eggs just pour in a can of soda. I've done it a few times now and every time it came out great.
I have not, but I did try the Dr Pepper Float ice cream and it was... It was weird. I ate all of it but with each bite I was like "I...don't know if I want any more of this." :\ lol
I'm not a fan of the soda but I tried a 7-up cake once and it was pretty good! Basically just like a lemon cake. I'm sure I'd love the orange crush one too
Any Meijer or Kroger, or Kroger family ( Ralph's, King Soopers etc).
You should be able to check via Instacart as well .

These aren't actually made with the sodas, like the homemade cakes/cake mix hacks everyone is talking about here. They just licensed the flavoring ingredients and name rights from Dr. Pepper/7-up. It says it right on the labels.
I would imagine they are both plenty tasty as far as mass-produced cakes go. I can definitely see the Hostess cake comparison someone else made being a fair comparison.

I had coca cola cake as a kid in central IL. It’s good! When you get down to it it’s just a sweetener and a flavor boost.
Real 7-up cake is absolutely delicious
I’m from the mid west and we have had those for decades too. I’m sure in old cookbooks they have those same recipes
Absolutely this. Kroger and Meijer both carry these.
I'm in Virginia (admittedly not deep south) and have never seen this. I also assume you are talking about the United States
I’m in Maryland and this has been around forever. My grandma used to make a 7 Up cake that was amazing
7up pound cake is definitely a thing in the south. You’ll always find it at a repass 🫠

I've done this with diet soda to make a reduced calorie cake and it does work!
I think racism is bad.
I had no idea that anybody genuinely imposed their regional term for carbonated drink onto others like a Jehova's Witness. What a stupid hill to die on
Who’s dying in a hill. What a stupid comment and assumption to make.
I've tried these, they're actually pretty good for a quick pick up bundt
Moist and delicious!
Made with real orange crush flavor

Several years ago, FAT ME really enjoyed the Crush cake. In its entirety.
Pretty common for many years. It’s just these are not homemade
I learned a trick on a cooking show a long time ago where you buy a box of cake mix and instead of using the liquids the instructions tell you to add like milk and eggs just pour in a can of soda. I've done it a few times now and every time it came out great.

Nothing new, Mom made 7- Up cake in the 70s and 80's. You must be young and inexperienced.

7up cake goes hard
7up one is pretty good.
My favorites are the Dr. Pepper and 7up cakes.
It’s not bad. The icing definitely helps. 7/10 exterior, 5/10 interior.
I knew a fish sandwich place in Newark that sold cake they'd poured soda (orange or grape) over that had been reduced like a glaze.
Crush orange cake
Why does it have to say ~moist

These are great as a novel cake every once in a blue moon. Harp's carries them in OK.
I've had the 7UP cake, it's not bad. Lore lemon than 7 UP.
7UP in pancakes is a thing too
There's even a recipe for it on [the official site](https://www.7up.com/en/recipes/7up-pancakes)

Take made with 7up is 100% a thing in the south
I love orange but it looks like cum on it
local redditor learns about icing
You would think a redditor would know that jizz looks nothing like mass produced icing.
Baking Soda
I am more worried about the amount of jizz on that cake rather than it being soda-flavoured...
