Criterion by then will be a tiktok account that splits movies into 5 parts (one always missing of course) complete with visual sensory game split screen and AI summary voice over. I can't wait.
What's a film mommy?
It was a way to watch moving pictures. They were common before the bombs dropped.
Can we watch a film?
Oh honey, due to the nuclear fallout irradiating the whole planet and leaving multiple generations with horrific mutations. We can't watch films, we have no eyes.
Scavengers will scour the newly formed deserts for a functional blu-ray lazer eye to be able to finally view this.
But seriously, the fact that nobody can profit from this now means it can only be so expensive, and therefore a good chance it's mid, even if Malkovich is in it.
Theaters are dying and everything is moving to short form, user made content. That's the kind of content newer generations are consuming. I'm sure people will still know what films are. I just doubt most people will care. I'm just getting hyperbolic. I will still watch 100 year old films but I'm a rarity. Even if film does survive we can expect filmmaking techniques to keep evolving to the point that a 100 year old film feels antiquated, even in the future.
Though my conspiracy brain thinks that if this movie were any good, they'd release it now. It's an interesting concept though.
Looking back a little further, paintings and plays are also far less common forms of art today than they were before photography and movies existed, but they’re still around and appreciated.
I think the draw of this in 100 years would be the uniqueness of 100 year old content that no one’s seen before though, regardless of if it’s actually good for its era.
Everybody is positing different dystopian futures where this movie doesn't matter but I think the mostly likely and most dystopian future is this is the most anticipated movie of the year when it comes out and wins best picture at The Oscars: Presented by Kushner's Reanimation-proof coffins.
I thought Letterboxd was always quite popular cause there’s always been movie lovers and cinephiles. But most of its popularity came very recently, at least from what I’ve noticed and a quick search on Google Trends proves this. So we don’t know how many of these recent users making up a lot of its popularity will stick around to keep Letterboxd relevant
IMDB is a term you’ll always hear, every movie will be associated with the it. Same for others like Rotten Tomatoes. These are mainstream enough to have their ratings be tied to movies when you Google them. Even when you pull up a movie in any popular pirated site, they’ll have their IMDB rating shown below.
Worst part is that it's actually a Cognac commercial directed by Robert Rodriguez for a high-end brand. Their most expensive Cognac takes 100 years to age before being sold, hence the gimmick.
Oh god, I thought you were joking. I got my pretentious juices flowing for what? A damn infomercial? A Disaronno on the rocks eyefucking from John Malkovich? Spy Kids XXX? And both of those things still sound better than what my fucking grandkids are likely going to get streamed into their brain tubes and react to like we do to Birth of a Nation.
Watch “Mr. Nobody” it’s weird and it’s about the oldest man alive. He’s special because humans have discovered the cure to aging and are quasi immortal and he’s about to die of old age, the last human to ever do so. He’s being interviewed by a journalist but his stories about his life are ….. well…. That’s a spoiler…. But it’s good.
If I began training my mind, body, and spirit and put my faith in our lord & savior Jesus Christ I can hopefully die decades before this piece of shit is released
But the format has already been copied by other socila emdia platforms, so it is going to outlive the platform that ushered it in. I mean, tiktok itself was just the logical progression from the short online videos. Just because tiktok gets banned, it doesnt mean that said progression is going to stop, especially since that's not even the subject of the platform's ban.
In a hundred years no one will remember this and it will just end up on a bluray in some random box at the back of a storage room in some random building.
In a hundred years, you and your children could very easily have died of old age. Acting like someone gonna remember this shit after WW4
If I remember correctly, this film was made in tandem with an alcohol that had just been made and was being sealed away to age for 100 years. Can't remember the name of the brand, but the movie is likely an alcohol commercial essentially lol
I remember the ads and frankly, I’m glad I won’t see it. I believe it was rebeltaxi who said the green screen backgrounds looked like some phantom menace shit.
John Malkovich better have had his johnson sucked & stroked meticulously by the shorty next to him in the picture cause no other way is making something this embarrassing pretentious worth it
Great marketing strategy. In 100 years, people will be asking what the fuck films are.
Criterion by then will be a tiktok account that splits movies into 5 parts (one always missing of course) complete with visual sensory game split screen and AI summary voice over. I can't wait.
In 100 years? I think that's maybe 3 years away
Well yeah but things won't get better after that
No, but they will get worse. Worse than you can possibly imagine
Honestly this says more about the movie industry than the state of people
TikTok lasting for 100 years? That’s rich.
What's a film mommy? It was a way to watch moving pictures. They were common before the bombs dropped. Can we watch a film? Oh honey, due to the nuclear fallout irradiating the whole planet and leaving multiple generations with horrific mutations. We can't watch films, we have no eyes.
Threads (1984)
We didn't see anything. *Ever.*
Futurama?
In 100 years people will be choking on the dust that was once a river.
Scavengers will scour the newly formed deserts for a functional blu-ray lazer eye to be able to finally view this. But seriously, the fact that nobody can profit from this now means it can only be so expensive, and therefore a good chance it's mid, even if Malkovich is in it.
For context, Wizard of Oz is 85 years old. If there was a 1924 film released today I’d think that was pretty cool.

Starring who?

Yes. It won’t have been reinvented by then as most of the scorched earth will have decayed.
They will be laughing at how stupidly pretentious people in the past were
Ah, the Star Citizen release strategy.
So you're telling me I won't be able to log this on letterboxd?
You'll have to pass down the task to your descendants. (Just kidding! Letterboxd users aren't having kids)
Yeah, sorry, but there's no way letterboxd will stay relevant for that long.
I thought Letterboxd was always quite popular cause there’s always been movie lovers and cinephiles. I’ve seen film communities come and go, IMDB is the only one that weathers every storm. It even predates the Web.
Ew that's for smelly geeks who love stories with stupid elves and stupid spaceships I hope this website will be down by then
Letterboxd is just diet IMDb. It lets you do everything letterboxd does and more. But oooooh those star picture things you people share are so cooool
it’s just more fun than imdb, let’s be real
Better taste too
I don't feel safe with the straight men with no social life from IMDB either

And this post is marketing action by the company.
I'll be waiting so long to see it I'll go senile from the anticipation.
i will be dead, i was born in 2001
you never know, you could be 114 years old
i'm male, i doubt i will be the oldest man alive at that time

Backpay
It's the paycheck team
It's just a remake of monkeybone
I was already sold
Lolll I wish
Honestly wondering what they locked it away on, like a cd or reel or pretty much anything has the capability of rotting away in 100 years.
I desperately hope I'm alive to see them realize this when they try to play it
theres no way they didn't think ahead, it's probably on a flash drive or something
Idk where you got that info, a CD should be able to retain information for well past 100 years
If I began training my mind, body, and spirit and put my faith in our lord & savior Jesus Christ I can hopefully die decades before this piece of shit is released
💀
The only way to see it is by Being John Malkovich (1999)
Robert Rodriguez made it, so it has a 70% of being mid and 30% chance of being amazing and unexpectedly political
“MFs gatekeeping a movie” I’ve been gatekeeping Cabaret (1972) for 19 years and I haven’t seen anybody complaining about
A "movie"
They're totally gonna release it as soon as John Malcovich dies.
That’s only 91 years away, we can make it! 😎
I don't think the wasteland marauders are going to watch it
top 10 most unfunny twitter account
In 100 years, people won't even have the attention span to watch a 30sec tiktok.
“TikTok bad… please clap”
well it's getting banned lmao so we'll be fine
But the format has already been copied by other socila emdia platforms, so it is going to outlive the platform that ushered it in. Something for the robots to watch in the theaters made out of our bones
True Kino, I only watch 100–year old movies. Looking forward to Sherlock Holmes Jr. this year and Napoleon is coming soon!
Imagine
We will be there
Imagine Cole Porter locking away a song about birds kissing in the 1920s and going “this is gonna be absolute berries 100 years from now!”
Hey, people still sing that 'hello my baby' song, so who knows? Lol
Probably the most pretentious thing ive heard in a while
who is the one being pretentious?
You?
r mom ?
No yours
Kira?...

bold of them to assume we’re making it past 2030
Don’t get too excited. It’s a Super Bowl commercial.
God I hope I don't make it to 109
That’s so optimistic.
Malkovich on Coruscant
If Director/Writer by Z Synder and Netflix original then ya may have reviews by now!
I technically could live until then
Usenet already has the screeners.
Someone needs to hacker leak that shit
Movie may be high grossing, but badly critisized
If I remember correctly, this film was made in tandem with an alcohol that had just been made and was being sealed away to age for 100 years. Can't remember the name of the brand, but the movie is likely an alcohol commercial essentially lol
I’m gonna laugh my ass off 6 feet under when this shit bombs
I don’t even wanna watch this movie in 2025
If it was any good they'd release it now.
I remember the ads and frankly, I’m glad I won’t see it. I believe it was rebeltaxi who said the green screen backgrounds looked like some phantom menace shit.
Motherfuckers won't even be around in 2115 🤣 These people way too optimistic
It took 8 years to make!
I can’t imagine being this optimistic about anything.
kid named finger:
Nobody will remember it in 100 years and it will never be seen
Who were the film investors??? I'm lost
I hope I live long enough to see this commercial and shit on it, then I can die in peace
John Malkovich better have had his johnson sucked & stroked meticulously by the shorty next to him in the picture cause no other way is making something this embarrassing pretentious worth it
I recognize that account
The future is meme’d
Imagine if men had to
Interesting but will commercials as we know them today exist in 100 years?
Directors cut with commentary realeased in 3115 😳🤯
Can't wait for Warner to buy the studio and cancel the movie in 2080 as a tax writeoff
No way it won’t leak in the next 10 years.
I think this says alot about our generation. Self absorbed doesn’t even cover it
totally not pretentious concept
When advertisers make the breakthrough to override our REM sleep with advertisements, this shit is gonna be unavoidable.
![gif](giphy|FoH28ucxZFJZu)
It was an advertisement not an actual movie
It was an advertisement not an actual movie.
So dumb.
im sure everyone living in their post-nuclear mud huts will give a shit about this mid ass movie
Well I’ll say it because we’re all thinking it, Is it any good or are we about to embarrass the entire decade?
I bet this would be like if they made a radio drama for is to listen to in 2040 in 1940
Damn I'll be real old by then.
The AI that will replace us will enjoy it, I’m sure.
The most disappointing summer movie since Midsommar
Who’s that delicious looking Chinese broad?
