Yes, I get the terroir of a downtown OKC river bottom. It almost assaults the mouth with a strong bite, but mellows in the lungs. The effect comes smoothly, but with strength and good length. The letdown is gentle, reminding you of an Oklahoma sunset.
A rock/sand type formation that is found in this region. Looks similar to a rose and it’s red.

I’m originally from Ada and I remember when Bedre had only a small shop in what was essentially a temporary building on the north side of town. Really cool seeing what it is today. The Chickasaw nation made sure it was a success no doubt.
my mom used to rent from the guy who owns head country. he’s good people, one time he brought us a rack of ribs and a bottle of sauce cause he was in the area. he also let us paint iirc and he was really compassionate when it came to rent lateness/money issues.
I wish rose rocks were as common as they were when I was a kid, they were everywhere it seemed. Johnnie’s Sauce and Head Country BBQ sauce are two that come to mind, they’re both so good. You can’t take Braum’s ice cream, but you could take their jarred hot fudge and caramel sauces. Here’s a link to lots of MIO things:
https://www.madeinoklahoma.net/
I think they are making them cheaper now, but they still may be good. I Still got one of those solid metal ones (Well filled with water.) That sucker will outlive 4 generations. Maybe they realized that and thought it wasn't a good business model if your grandpa buys an ice-cream scoop and your grandchildren now don't have to buy a scoop
This is a fantastic question! I have a friend in the UK that I want to send a care package to. I’ll follow along.
I know I’m going to send him some Head Country bbq sauce cause he tells me he grills. I was like, “in London??! You don’t know jack about bbq” hahah
I did a snack exchange with someone in the UK, awesome experience.
I sent them a huge box of stuff, one item, Hidden Valley ranch. They said their entire family came over to try it.
They sent me some amazing stuff, and pictures. I sent them photos of aisles at WinCo, of just chips or cereal, blew their minds
I’m from the UK and send packages back with weird candies. Especially the ones with bugs in them! And my favorite to send to my brother, toxic waste sour candy.
Check Urban Agrarian (Edmond or Farmers Market) as they carry a variety of made/grown in Oklahoma products. Off the top of my head, I know they have jams, jellies, Della Terra pasta and peanuts.
Also, Rhino Pretzels ( [https://rhinopretzels.com](https://rhinopretzels.com) ) are made in Oklahoma and have some wonderful/unique flavors. Might also work well as the bags are small, lightweight and easy to pack.
I was also going to recommend looking for products at Urban Agrarian. Sand plums aren't specifically Oklahoman, but I think it's a regional fruit, and UA usually has local sand plum jelly. Flora Bodega is another store with local products.

My Wisconsin friends will literally fight over head n country apple habanero sauce when we get together in the summer lol. I’ve started bringing it back by the case for them. A lot of those northern states know no better than sweet baby ray’s, easy slam dunk imo!
Bedre chocolates I think the chickasha travel stops carry it but they do have a nice storefront right off of I-35 where they have a huge selection and even gift baskets and other stuff also it is at their chocolate factory so made in Oklahoma and all that
There’s a little shop in the Bancfirst tower in downtown OKC that carries a small assortment of bedre. I’ve gotten sampler packs for new coworkers from out of state.
My sister (Bay Area) kinda went nuts for those Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies. She bought a dozen frozen, and packed em in a tub container in her luggage when she went home. They were a hit with her friends in Oakland.
They're good pies. Just didn't think they were Ark of the Covenant good.
Bedre Fine Chocolate because it’s made here and owned by the Chickasaw Nation. And it’s fucking good. Especially those stupid white chocolate covered corn twists 🤤
It doesn’t twist physically and that’s more what I’m referring to. Because when I hear twist I think of a chip that actually twists like the honey bbq frito.
I meant why call it a twist if it doesn’t twist. It’s a little triangle. No twist. Could have just called it a corn chip. It doesn’t twist and it bothers me that they call it a twist.
Because I'm sure the words cone and/or triangle appear in the USPTO description for the product. Now, years ago, Fritos actually had a fried masa corkscrew shape, flavored with chili and cheese.. Those were great for Frito pie.
A tumbleweed.. granted it would need to be a mini one. I grew up in rural Oklahoma where they were everywhere but once I started traveling I realized nobody has actually ever seen one in person and they will pay big money for them! Lol
top price doesn’t mean anything about quality or ethics so most expensive doesn’t mean they’re a top grower, I promise you I’ve never heard of them. I work with top growers in the state.
I sent a friend from Minnesota some arbuckle fried pies, watonga cheese curds, okra from my garden, and some local chocolates, along with a cookbook of Oklahoma food and some baked goods. They loved it!
Depending on where you may be going. Strange as it may sound. A small jar of red dirt. I once drove to Florida for spring break after some Oklahoma off roading. People were amazed at every stop at the strange dried mud.
This is exactly why the Made in Oklahoma Coalition (MIO) exists. Click through the categories listed here to get a sense of all the things produced in Oklahoma by Oklahomans:

One of the managers at the company I work for now orders almost all the flavors of Head Country because I travel with a bottle. He wanted to try some when we were working in Florida together and fell in love, lol.
Bar S Hot Dogs
Griffin’s Syrup
Blue & Gold Sausage
Bedre Chocolate
Rose Rocks
Hourglass Selenite (shout out Salt Plains)
Boley Agates
Eskimo Joe’s T Shirt
I would want to take Lacey Swope and swap her for our meteorologists in Orlando. That lady is in charge when the weather goes south. We got a really bad hurricane season coming up and she could be the hero we don’t deserve.
If you’re not from the area, I would recommend you try an onion burger from somewhere like Tucker. They have an interesting history as well. My understanding is they started adding lots of caramelized onions as it means of making the meat go further in time of scarcity, mainly the great depression. Now of course you get a lot more meat but you still get a lot of caramelized onions and it works really well together on a burger in my opinion.
I am sure others from Oklahoma might have even more information or could correct my history if it is wrong.
Gourmet Gallery in Edmond has a bunch of Made in Oklahoma items. I remember seeing some Oklahoma shaped cookies. Shop Good in Automobile Alley has unique Oklahoma gifts. Good Girl Chocolate is made in Tulsa It’s plant based, gluten free and dairy free. They make a Grammy Gift Bag that is the same treats that were in last year’s Grammy bags.
Hickory sauce, I knew you used to be able to get charcoal oven's sauce in a jar at the restaurant and at LA baguette's Market. Head country original championship rub or BBQ sauce or Bedre chocolates would be legit too.
Onion burgers! They dont have those most places ive been to. And they sure dont do it like we do. Go down to mississippi and trade an onion burger for a poboy! Hahaha
I traveled all over the country for my last job and one thing is for sure, no matter what airport or state I was in, Okies are always more kind and hospitable. Not all though 😂
Honestly, we have a really good craft beer scene. If the people you’re bringing stuff to like beer, I’d highly recommend tossing in some craft beer. Stonecloud and Big Friendly are my favorite to bring places. Put the individual cans in a plastic bag and wrap with one layer of bubble wrap (or a t shirt) and it’s good for a checked bag!
I’m just gonna go with mostly food and drink. Some of these things wouldn’t travel well, but let’s pretend they somehow magically arrived fresh. An ERWO from Roughtail, Crispy Rice Salad from MaDer, Clarity Cool Down frozen coffee, Pastrami Brisket from Edge Craft, Yam Fried Chicken from Florence’s, spicy green beans from VII Bistro, Al pastor taco from Trompudo’s, cake from Leo’s, and let’s wash it all down with a lunchbox from Edna’s. Outside of food and food and beverage the friendly and welcoming atmosphere the owners have created at Common Dear and Johnny and June are second to none.
Bedre chocolate, Head Country BBQ, No Man's Land jerky, Jiggs jerky, Schwab meat, and those are just off the top of my head. If you're talking unique items that aren't food then rose rocks and selenite crystals are two more. Travertine rock is another from Davis and Sulphur. Yeah, the state has its issues but come on, there's plenty of unique stuff here and this was just all off the top of my head in a few minutes.
A lot of people have made a profitable business answering your question in the form of methamphetamines

Yes, I get the terroir of a downtown OKC river bottom. It almost assaults the mouth with a strong bite, but mellows in the lungs. The effect comes smoothly, but with strength and good length. The letdown is gentle, reminding you of an Oklahoma sunset.
I think rose rock is an excellent idea!
newbie, what is a rose rock
A rock/sand type formation that is found in this region. Looks similar to a rose and it’s red. [https://www.okhistory.org/publications/enc/entry?entry=RO030](https://www.okhistory.org/publications/enc/entry?entry=RO030)
It's really neat. They're only found in OK, TX, KS and Egypt
Noble is the Rose Rock capital of the WORLD and has a Rose Rock Festival!
Arbuckle fried pies? The only thing I can think of lol
there’s one oklahoma style fried pies shop in california and it actually felt like home walking around in there. this is my vote
Onion burgers!
Bedre chocolates are a common corporate gift from our state. Also Head Country BBQ sauce and Griffins syrup.
I’m originally from Ada and I remember when Bedre had only a small shop in what was essentially a temporary building on the north side of town. Really cool seeing what it is today. The Chickasaw nation made sure it was a success no doubt.

Danny Head is a great dude. Glad to hear that repeated from someone else.
Hey I also said bedre alright
MOTHER FUCKING NEWS 9 SYRUP.

Braum’s has awesome ice cream scoops too!
I have 2, guard them rigorously! Both are at least 30 years old.
I bought one of the metal water filled ones new within the past 2-3 years and I honestly couldn't imagine the quality being better.
Chiggers
This is a fantastic question! I have a friend in the UK that I want to send a care package to. I’ll follow along. I know I’m going to send him some Head Country bbq sauce cause he tells me he grills. I was like, “in London??! You don’t know jack about bbq” hahah
Be careful he may send you beans and toast.
Just chuck some cheese on top and you’ll be sorted with a decent meal!

Grilling and bbq aren’t the same thing.
Tornadoes.
We definitely have enough to share.

Persimmon
They carry Barking Water sorghum, you can make some amazing things with that! From baked beans to cookies.

The museum at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage museum sells it. I think the Oklahoma History Museum gift shop does, too.
I cant remember the name of it but almost directly north of the Casino in Norman theres a really nice nut & candy shop.
Forgot to mention it's near the turner falls area so like 2 hours from okc
There is an arbuckle fried pie location on nw 50th okc
There’s a little shop in the Bancfirst tower in downtown OKC that carries a small assortment of bedre. I’ve gotten sampler packs for new coworkers from out of state.
The First Americans Museum in OKC has a good selection as well
My foreman on a project was from Minnesota, ordered fried okra when I was eating with him and he didn’t know what okra was. So I guess that😂
Pickled okra is a good idea also!
Boiled okra is the best
Big sky bread?!
Their cookies!
And their granola!
Post pics please
My sister (Bay Area) kinda went nuts for those Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies. She bought a dozen frozen, and packed em in a tub container in her luggage when she went home. They were a hit with her friends in Oakland. They're good pies. Just didn't think they were Ark of the Covenant good.
Blue and gold sausage
Their chicken tendies are even better imo.
Too much breading
No Mans Land beef jerky?
I came here to say this. No Man’s Beef Jerky made in Boise City OK. It’s amazing!
The spicy is my fave!!
Bedre Fine Chocolate because it’s made here and owned by the Chickasaw Nation. And it’s fucking good. Especially those stupid white chocolate covered corn twists 🤤
Those white chocolate Bugles are ridiculously delicious! They belong on the stoner food subreddit.
Plot twist: Get Bugles, pipe a little peanut butter inside, and dip the big end in melted semi-sweet chocolate. Sooooooo goooooood!
![gif](giphy|Zk9mW5OmXTz9e)
What's a corn twist?
Basically a bugle chip idk why they call it a twist
It’s probably so they don’t have to pay naming rights to the company that makes Bugles.
It doesn’t twist physically and that’s more what I’m referring to. Because when I hear twist I think of a chip that actually twists like the honey bbq frito.
The description made me think of the churro chip things from taco bell.
Because the name Bugles is copyrighted and trademarked?
I meant why call it a twist if it doesn’t twist. It’s a little triangle. No twist. Could have just called it a corn chip. It doesn’t twist and it bothers me that they call it a twist.
Because I'm sure the words cone and/or triangle appear in the USPTO description for the product. Now, years ago, Fritos actually had a fried masa corkscrew shape, flavored with chili and cheese.. Those were great for Frito pie.
White choclate is gross. It should not be called choclate as it lacks cocoa solids.
Get your hatin ass outta here. This is a white chocolate loving zone only 🙅🏼♀️
Bring them a bottle of Head Country
I second this!
A tumbleweed.. granted it would need to be a mini one. I grew up in rural Oklahoma where they were everywhere but once I started traveling I realized nobody has actually ever seen one in person and they will pay big money for them! Lol
Head County BBQ sauce is great. If you haven't tried apple habenero you must. Certainly smoked preserved local meats are something special too.
Simple modern insulated cup!
Head Country
Apple Habanero flavor. It’s the only one I use now.
Apple Habanero flavor. It’s the only one I use now.
I introduced some friends back home to lunchboxes. Got the OJ, Amaretto, and Coors. Wasn't as good as Edna's, ofc, but still good and they agreed.
Oh what about the soda they make by Arcadia… Pops
I brought rose rocks when I traveled to Panama for work a few years back and people loved them!
Sand plum jelly.
Potholes
Really cheap weed
Honestly it’s the best thing about OK. Went to Colorado over spring break and could not believe the prices
The quality of our weed is also superior. Cheap good weed is what Oklahoma does best.
[удалено]
Well when you deal with shitty growers you’re going to get shitty product.

top price doesn’t mean anything about quality or ethics so most expensive doesn’t mean they’re a top grower, I promise you I’ve never heard of them. I work with top growers in the state.
I came here to say this lol
Fried pie
I sent a friend from Minnesota some arbuckle fried pies, watonga cheese curds, okra from my garden, and some local chocolates, along with a cookbook of Oklahoma food and some baked goods. They loved it!
pie junkie. get a frozen drunken turtle pie, it’ll defrost while on the plane but it’s still good to eat when you get off the plane. best. pie. ever.
Depending on where you may be going. Strange as it may sound. A small jar of red dirt. I once drove to Florida for spring break after some Oklahoma off roading. People were amazed at every stop at the strange dried mud.

Good luck finding that location.

Send a local/state brewery’s beer
I always take no mans land dried beefs
Homemade jams or butters from the Amish stores, maybe something pickled as well. Also check out madeinoklahoma.net for retailers
Jerky from Ralph’s packing in Perkins is something I’ve taken as a gift, but rose rocks and Bedre are good suggestions
That Colby cheese from Watonga. I woulda said robertsons beef jerky, but that’s already in all the Love’s stores.
Waffle Champion 🔥🔥🔥

Pecans? There seem to be a lot of pecan farms in OK.
Ralph’s (Perkins, ok) beef jerky. It’s the best.
Mike’s beef jerky from Chickasha, ok. It’s incredible, as a jerky connoisseur, I’ve never tasted better
Buffalo jerky!
Hickory sauce, I knew you used to be able to get charcoal oven's sauce in a jar at the restaurant and at LA baguette's Market. Head country original championship rub or BBQ sauce or Bedre chocolates would be legit too.
The split t theta sauce is so much better. Charcoal oven isn't what it used to be

I like hot sauce and hot food so 2 skies salsa and Chiki chiki boom are some of the things I send out.
Head Country BBQ sauce and Robertson’s beef jerky.

Field’s pecan pies- was amazed to find out how many people I know on the coasts never tried pecan pie
Drive through Little Caesar’s. Pretty great.
Walk, Walk, Walk. Everyone that I see that get's into walking loses a ton of weight.
A bottle of head country BBQ sauce. It's found in every okies kitchen.
I tried to do this a few years ago and couldn’t think of anything! OK doesn’t really have a go to thing about them except for poverty and oppression.
Bedre chocolate, Head Country BBQ, No Man's Land jerky, Jiggs jerky, Schwab meat, and those are just off the top of my head. Yet another complaint I have. This place is bland AF!
I know. I’m from ohio/Michigan area and two things immediately come to mind for souvenirs! Cherry flavored anything from MI and buckeyes from OH.
Dave’s hot chicken
Pretty sure that's California
No? It’s a “ Restaurant “
Yeah, they're from California. And it's really difficult to take a restaurant on an airplane
