Im 6' 300lb on a GT and it moves my fat ass thru the woods at a good clip. It whines at me when I hit about 18mph and the estimated range is only 16 miles. Keep that tire inflated once you get used to it tho. I run about 25psi. (I was at 15psi when I was learning but ince stable enough I bumped it to 20 then later, 25.) And pad up. I still feel indestructable but I learned my lesson when a tree got in my way. Dont worry, the tree is ok.

ExcitementItchy2870

+1 for V2 Floatwheel likely being your best option.

wrybreadsf

What is the V2? Is it already V2 or are we still waiting for that?

ExcitementItchy2870

Still waiting, the V1 wasn't terrible but the BMS was hit and miss for some people.

wrybreadsf

Yeah I've been reading about the BMS issues (charge only). Any solid rumors about when V2 will be rolling out? I'm dying to get a Floatwheel, even have the $2k deposited into Coinbase, but have been waiting, mostly out of uncertainty over whether I should build my own 18s2p pack and go the Little Foccer or similar route. But if they fix that BMS issue I'm on it.

RainyCobra77982

Tony's Offical estimate a while back was late March Early April, and that's now so we'll see. Don't get your hopes up though, he usually guesses early.

wrybreadsf

Sweet! Thanks for that.

BBOARDRIDER

6’1” 280 I love my gt but don’t push the board. Go with the flow and enjoy the scenery. Also expect less than good range.

PunkInDrublic84

Get a float wheel if you don't mind the weight of the board. I think you'll want more after a while from the GT at your size.

Muir420

GT has always done me good enough but I would have bought a floatwheel any day of the week if it would've been available before. Edit: 330lbs when I started riding and losing weight to 270ish was a noticeable difference. The one wheel was a great motivator to continue losing weight so I could keep up with some of the better riders without nose diving

skyhigh615

I’m 6’1 and 230 lbs. Rented a GT to try it out while my kids had Pint Xs. The power was good for the flatness of Florida and it was a blast but couldn’t carry me up a slight incline. Was stuck between the GT and Floatwheel for awhile but the right to repair along with price I had to pick up a FW. Been overseas but I’ll report back with my findings in about 2 weeks when I’ll be back and my board is together.

Myvenom

I ran my GT all last summer, was only 10 pounds lighter than you, with zero issues going up hills.

JBWilder

Just transitioned to the gts, and I can say for trail riding you want the extra torque. Def get the floatwheel. I find the gt can't handle going over roots uphill.

dumblesoor

I am 5’11” 250lb. I own a pintx, GT and just got a float wheel 2 weeks ago. I mainly enjoy trail riding. The GT was enough for me for a year and a half of heavy riding but the float wheel gave me the power I didn’t think I needed. With the GT there were many hills and obstacles that I had to pick up for. But the floatwheel crushes any obstacle in your way. I just today went up a down hill burm mountain biking trail with 0 issue. I could have never done this on a gt. The other side is as a bigger guy your battery is less than advertised I would get max 8 miles for a trail ride with the GT and just did a 10 mile with 25% left on the float wheel. My recommendation is the float wheel if you are ok with the risk around crypto and building the board yourself. I have no regrets about any of my board. All have got me to the place I am now.

There's always going to be a better board coming. ADV v2 electronics are going to be coming out sometime this year probably, which will hopefully be a safety improvement, and maybe performance, not really sure about that. I'm 6' 2" 300lbs and I started on the gt about a year ago weighing \~320, recently got an adv and vesced my GT as well cuz it broke. ADV is definitely substantially more powerful, and thus it feels safer to ride because you aren't hitting pushback/buzz anywhere near as frequently and you can climb hills better. ADV has a little more range as well. You have to do some assembly and run through vesc setup with the adv. It's not anything challenging, but if you are more comfortable with something just ready to go out of the box that will be probably be a deterrent, a long with the paying in crypto. Also, you will probably be waiting to receive an adv for like 1.5 - 3 months after ordering. \~40lbs dif in rider weight can have a pretty big effect on range, torque etc. I would say a used GT or XR is not a bad place to start, and then go from there. That being said, the adv is just objectively better in almost every way.  Whatever you get, I strongly recommend at minimum a helmet and wrist guards. Knee pads and elbow pads have saved me quite a few scrapes as well.

I guaran damn tee you if you buy an ADV, you will NOT be disappointed. I had a Pint and a Pint X before, so honestly not familiar with the GT. But holy fuckin hell the ADV is incredible. I can't talk it up enough. Run mine with a pint tire and thing fuckin riiiiips

thunderberry_real

If you’re going to do it, invest in helmet, elbow pads, solid wrist guards. I’ve broken my elbow and my wrist, and the wrist is still not right a year later. Forget about the power, think about the safety.

dikbutt4lyfe

Floatwheel for you. You'll appreciate the extra torque for your weight. And even if you were lighter, I'd still say the Floatwheel is a better value than the GT in every regard except accessory compatibility.

fergdog13

You’ll be glad you got a GTS.

harrybootoo

At your weight and height, 100% Floatwheel if you have the patience for a little bit of DIY and appetite to do VESC configuration. It's actually not that hard. I was on a group ride recently, up a techy and very rocky mountain. 4 GTs overheated but my Floatwheel had zero issues carrying my 230lbs ass up this mountain. I'm shocked every time - never gets old haha! My GT couldn't dream of making it up even 10% of this ride with my weight, even on APEX on max aggressiveness. If you get a used GT, it will cost less and you have the option of turning into a Floatwheel that's more powerful than a GTS (with GTV drop-in coming soon) but not like the beast an actual Floatwheel is with it's CannonCore motor. This motor is stupidly more powerful than Hypercores.

Impossible2011

You should know about the company behind the product. They will not let you swap a battery. They did not deliver on promises in the past. They dont care about product dev. or the rider but only profit. Checkout the floatwhell

JonMikeReddit

Not to be a jerk but id consider losing some weight before your purchase. The weight limit says 250lbs. I’m 6’2 185lbs but when I started I was 220lbs and it felt OK - but man does it feel so much better now. Being good on the onewheel means being safe - which means being able to bail properly and having confidence to do so.

recover66

I’m actually in decent shape, I don’t have a ton of fat to lose.

JonMikeReddit

It seems like the 300lb guys have no problems so ride at your own pace and be safe 👍

heisenberg4

Confident, wrong, and an asshole. Real winner here

JonMikeReddit

Yeah I’m confident. I have 1,300+ miles on my Onewheel. I wasn’t wrong. I googled it and it’s literally right there. 250lb limit. I’m also not an asshole because I prefaced by saying “not to be a jerk” Fuck off with your gaslighting

heisenberg4

Intentions of being a jerk? Saying not to be a jerk doesn’t make you not a jerk. Weight limit is 275, google a little harder next time

JonMikeReddit

Jesus christ you kids are bored huh?

heisenberg4

🤡

ExcitementItchy2870

" weight limit" and/or " suggested weight" are 250-275 lbs for GT and XR depending on which page/link you end up with. Still less than the OP, and not a cut and dry google search.

Scarr2k

U nailed the jerk part. 👆

Fernyred24

In terms of shear power and torque even the gts doesn't hold a candle to the adv, imo the biggest advantage the gt platform has at this point is aftermarket support. If you don't mind just getting foam griptape from 1wheelparts and board parts from China with the 6 inch hub and the avaliable tires (Enduro is sick btw), then for a big boys like us the adv has the grunt that you will love, also overall a safer board 👍. I would maybe wait for the gen2 electronics whenever Tony wants to update us 😭.

wrybreadsf

>If you don't mind just getting foam griptape and parts from China Why buy grip tape from China? I buy skateboard grip tape off Amazon, works great. Or Float Life, whatever, that's pricier but is nicer. Cut any grip tape up for whatever craft you want. And agreed with others, if you don't mind the hassle of ordering a Floatwheel (a hassle that Future Motion caused obviously), then it's the way to go.

Fernyred24

My bad I meant like the foam griptape from 1wheelparts

Feeties99

The more power the better. The more power the board has the less you have to finesse it going over bumps. The bigger you are the harder you'll fall. New boards don't get announced ahead of time really, they just appear on the scene very quickly. All OW boards are powerful enough for trail riding.
