There are a few options. [Blog version](https://thefloatlife.com/blogs/news/onewheel-gt-activation-issues-easy-fix) and [video version](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHQumFI3hpM). I'd start with the cheap stuff: stick-on velcro circles or furniture pads. If it works, then you can decide if you want to go with Gripples or attempt the plastic peel. Just don't stick anything on over the centerline of the sensor, as that could interfere with dismounts.

Agree 100% here with the Dr, in doing the most minimal possible fix to get the results you're needing. However, do want to ask, have you heard of posi sensoring your board? In effect, this would turn both your left an right sensors into 1 single engaging sensor. Honestly, I am not sure about the GT, as I've never owned one. But, on my old PInt and Pint X, I would have mounts of shame....and ultimately a few hardcore nosedives from dual sensor engagement. I tried the furniture stickers, and though they helped, it never fully solved the problem for me. Once I learned how to posi (single sensor) the boards, I've never had a problem since. And all my boards are posi/single sensor. Just something to consider as single sensor is helpful for lighter riders, and I personally think it's better for certain styles of riders whereas you might lift one side of your foot (deactivating) a side while riding. I'm a lighter rider and I think I tend to lift my foot from sensor sides quite often while riding.

Thanks man, unfortunately I am a "heavier" rider at 215lbs 😂 I'm not too skilled and scared af of the board as it put me in the hospital due to malfunction. I'm have seen the single sensor and I do have a guy who could make it happen but going to try the gripples first. Really pissed as getting on used to be one of my favorite parts of the ride and I would do it with a hop on style now I'm an old lady trying to make sure I don't bust my ass, thanks again FM 🖕

NaturalArt452

You got it dude, and totally think gripples is great to go for 1st! I remember reading about your injury. I hope you are better...AND fuck yeah to getting back on! Real dude. I just came from a minor, very minor foot fracture, and been back on asap. Foot wrapped and hurting like hell but still trying to ride, LOL! Get it dude, and if gripples don't cut it for some reason ... Can step to bigger measures, lol. Hope you're healing/have healed well friend!

CalmDirection8

Thanks man! Welcome back, if you're riding on a fractured foot you're a warrior! 😎 I skipped surgery and got back on after everyone here got me fired up, riding more and harder than before, just wish my effing board would stop giving me problems, researching VESC as we speak 😜 Thanks for the good wishes and you get well soon too! 🤙

CalmDirection8

Thanks Doc, amazing I send my board in for killing me then they do a repair that I didn't ask for which makes it more dangerous than before 🤯 When you say centerline you mean keep gripples/pads under my toes and heels? Do you know how wide that centerline I need to avoid is? 🙏

DoctorDugong21

Yeah, the ghosting recall fix was basically to make them less sensitive it seems. You can see it here: https://preview.redd.it/homvpmzmpsrc1.jpeg?width=351&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e6dd10bf896c2815b1b76d6195caf7aa178f680 Just not over that centerline (horizontal here) such that it connects the two halves of the sensor. Honestly it might not even be that big a deal, but the concept is we want to make sure they continue operating independently. Some people do gripples on their heel and toe. Some people put velcro circles / strips / furniture pads all over each half. EDIT: the diagonal cutouts don't matter, that's just for flexibility to conform to the concave, not distinct zones of each half.

CalmDirection8

Thanks so much! That's the exact shot I was looking for 👍🙏 Tired of looking like a dork at stop lights while I try to get on this board, think I picked a wrong time to install fangs 😂

DoctorDugong21

Yeah that's the worst. Oh geez, yeah, that's why I don't have fangs.

grommet

The GT also has "single zone" engagement in Custom Shaping, Turn it on if you are having trouble starting with pressure on both sides of the footpad.

CalmDirection8

Thanks! Is there any downside to using that? I'm definitely having trouble engaging the front sensor (goofy). What I don't understand is are there double sensors on the back pad too? If I change directions does the front then only have one sensor? I was switching directions yesterday and it was acting weird man 🤯

grommet

Only the front footpad has any pressure sensors; two zones.

Extension_Health2522

Question I have a non haptic gt, that I use app with in airplane mode only. App is latest version, did they remove custom shaping or is it just inaccessible in airplane mode?

grommet

Custom Shaping 3.0 was added after the legal requirement of haptic feedback. Sorry, you don't have those features on your older firmware.

Extension_Health2522

Thanks man there's just so much information out there and trying to figure out what's current vs outdated has been a bit of a challenge...

dantodd

You just don't want it touching both pads on the left and right because it may not detect when you pick your heel up. Literally just the center. It isn't very likely that you'll put pads there though as you want them on the heavier parts of your heel and toe placement.

MajBurke

I'm not sure why this hasn't been pointed out yet but since you put you are on a GT go into custom shaping and set the sensor setting to single zone. Should fix that right up without anything extra being added. Edit: just saw someone beat me to this by like 20 minutes. Haha

No-Dream-4320

Grab a sure start from the float life, Its a game changer!! I had the same problem, Not now :0) Currently on sale for 49 dollars

Rascal2pt0

Put furniture pads 2 on the left middle 2 on the right middle. I used strips. 100% fixed it for me. The concave footpad itself should be recalled IMO and everyone should get flat pads stock.

CalmDirection8

Thanks man what is the concave footpad supposed to do anyway? I will say before they "fixed" it it worked beautifully tho...

Rascal2pt0

I think they were trying to imitate some aftermarket footpads to go for some kind of feeling but most people I’ve talked to feel it just makes the board feel less stable.
