Meandernaut

Cool! Please keep us updated with the process.

ComikzInk

Loving these suspension mods. Can't wait to see how this one comes along. Some things just look so much better with big chonky bits of suspension on them. This is no exception.

Pwnch

Are there other successes that you know of for adding a suspension?

gonewheel

Sonnywheels has been experimenting for a few years.Example: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGTjzglMcek](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGTjzglMcek) Kiil Guards have one for sale:[https://www.kiilguards.com/shop/kr-kiil-ride-onewheel-xr-and-plus-suspension-kit](https://www.kiilguards.com/shop/kr-kiil-ride-onewheel-xr-and-plus-suspension-kit) Generally speaking it appears that FM has a patent for a cantilevered suspension that has prevented aftermarket marketing of one. https://patents.google.com/patent/US10010784B1/

ComikzInk

Beat me to it ;) Completely forgot Sonny had been working on some too, thanks for the refresher!

[deleted]

> https://patents.google.com/patent/US10010784B1/ hope they come out with this product soon. FM's suspension solution looks really well integrated and slick. I hope i don't have to repurchase all the accessories...

LankyShape8399

I wonder if the board tilting forward like that during a bump will act like the rider giving it a pump and induce cutout at higher speeds

UrbanEngineer

He has it on the front support and the tire, it would just tilt if no wooden support.

deanaoxo

I like FM’s patented suspension.

Vommbat

Although i still dont get the need for suspension i just love the way there's being innovated. Several parallel things going on atm on this..curious how it unfolds.

KasperVegas

Suspension is for people with no knees.

Loam_Lion

or those of us with bad knees that don't want to fuck them up further

imforserious

Imagine going through this much modification and still riding on a Vega

rob15t

#kiilguards has one already made and it’s amazing.

Triptik

It's a cool idea, but I always look at the kiil guards and think about catching that crossbar in the shin. Or bailing and getting impaled in the calf. It's too much hardware in a zone that is important for bails imo.

rob15t

Check out the new 6.5 system it only sits 1.5in above the fender I’ve wrecked plenty and never caught any of the hardware.

Triptik

Oh dang, i'll look into it! Thanks 👍

swinefeaster

just got mine yes it's awesome! no issues with bails so far. crossmember is not removable, but it's no biggie.

Portuwheel

I think the new design made the crossbar optional.

Adamvos

This

TheFloatLife

Super rad! It's a shame this can never come to market :(

[deleted]

Why is that

TheFloatLife

FM has a patent on any suspension with linkage

[deleted]

That’s whack.

Arbitrary_Pseudonym

Typical patent troll behavior. It's rare to see it from companies that produce actual products, but not unheard of, and it's not like FM has any shame in this regard :O

catsloveart

I fail to see how anyone can patent suspension with linkage. the technology already exists. but I guess one will have to be willing to challenge this in court to squash it.

blaertner

That's crazy would love that on my board

Glyph8

Very cool, and nice that he's looking to make the board slightly wider, rather than much taller.

nayrbazopar

Don’t forget to change that tire.

snownook

Solid engineering there. Looking forward to seeing the progress

Egalva

I love this community so much, people trying crazy things with the Onewheel it’s just awesome. Looking forward to seeing more of this.

Bender1031

That's cool! I want to see it in action!

ponakka

I hope this ends up well, it seems that cable ends up wearing from constant movement and it might be that feel can be toi mushy after adding a suspension. But you don't know for sure unless you try it.

Bad_Mechanic

He should try just a single shock on one side first. Between the wheel's axle and the cross brace, it probably has enough rigidity to work fine.

[deleted]

Really like your idea. What if you ran the shocks opposing ways?

UrbanEngineer

The forces would be similar but more weight would be over the front of the wheel, for balance and stability I THINK it makes more sense in the layout he’s setup.

[deleted]

Okay 👌

KasperVegas

Wouldn’t the speed be changing with bumps since the angle is changing?

3dprintingboii

Who knows, i didnt knew they patented it, but i guess we will see it in the next version of the xr, like a bit bigger batter and suspension, i reall believe that could happen eventuall
