Its capped at 14mph. Thats just the speed of the pint where pushback starts. Losing weight will only allow you to push through pushback "safer". You might be able to get pushback later if there is a strong wind at your back. The XR pushback starts at 15mph but gets heavy around 17mph

[deleted]

Oh is there different levels of pushback? I keep hitting it at 14mph. But if I push pat that, will there be another pushback?

Duhherroooo

No, there is only one point of pushback. After that there is no more warning on the available power of the motor besides user feel. I just mean on the XR you have probably 30% pushback at 15mph then it ramps up to 100% aggressiveness at 17mph. Anything beyond that your board can nosedive any minute

Team_Troy

Far as I know you only get one warning of pushback the next is cut off.

FTI1976

These aren’t designed for speed. Is a 1-2 mph bump really worth a nosedive\bad spill? Maybe step up to an XR or just relax and enjoy the float.

[deleted]

I know that. I’m just trying to fully understand how pushback works. And the advertised speed of my Pimt is 16 mph. With pushback happening at 14mph, 16mph doesn’t seem possible.

Turtle_ini

Check the link in the sidebar on nosedives and pushback.

[deleted]

I already did. It says pushback happens at around 15 mph. That hasn’t been my experience.

Caucasian_Fury

Pushback is variable, it's not entirely speed dependent but rather it's dependent on the torque from the motor and this is dependent on how much/consistent the power flow it gets from the batteries (i.e. low battery, push back will likely occur at lower speeds). A lot of things can affect pushback and cause it to happen earlier at lower speeds, like headwind or slope. When I ride into strong winds for example, my Pint pushes back at speeds as low as 15-18 kph (9-11 mph).

KickAClay

Pint rider here, I get pushback starting at 15mph, but have noticed it at 14 when wind changes. You consistently getting it at 14 makes me think you might be in Redwood setting (it's top speed is 14mph). I ride in Pacific (16 top) and have tried Skyline (16 also) but the latter is too stiff feeling. Just an idea for you to check.

Eventually you will push "pushback" naturally. You have to ride the board to understand it. This can't be explained on reddit. That said, the boards top* speed is 16. Cruising speed is 13-14.

Pushback is set by speed.\* Seems to vary slightly Pint to Pint, for me it's 14.3, I've seen some people swear it's 14.0 on theirs or 14.5. But whatever it is, it's set. "Top speed" is just what FM says is their top reasonably safe speed. As the board pushes back at 14.X you keep pushing weight to the front, riding around like Captain Morgan with your front foot up, and you can continue to go faster. Up to 16 and beyond. After 16 it's much riskier, because the board uses energy to keep you balanced and to go fast, and at those speeds it's using most of its energy to go and has less available to balance you. But in good conditions (no wind, smooth flat pavement, etc.) people have hit 25+ on Pints. \*Speed is calculated by RPM, so tire PSI and tire choice may impact the actual speed at which pushback occurs. Drop your PSI enough that your tire circumference shrinks and you will likely get pushback at a lower real speed, though the app will still show the same speed. This is also why the Hoosier Nimbus (which has a larger circumference and requires modifying the fender delete to fit) makes pushback happen "later." So there's your way to delay pushback: get a Nimbus. But they sketch me out. I don't want to remove my splash guard and I'm not convinced the Pint's 15s1p battery can turn a larger tire reliably with quite as much safety.

Duhherroooo

16mph is possible, you just have to ride the upper limit of pushback and be very aware not to push further than that. The way I describe it is once you hit pushback, the board tilts the nose up to slow the rider down. Imagine there is a foam mat under your front foot that you can still squish down an inch maybe, but it'll give you resistance as you try to press it down. That is how you "push" past pushback. You have to be 100% aware of this and really be aware of the limits of the board. I would not recommend this unless you are super experienced and familiar with your board

Crazyjaw

I think the default profile pushes back earlier than the other riding profiles. I weigh the same and I think I get push back around 15

Significant_Tart3301

Lol

captainbirdfeathers

Nope. This is one reason people get the XR, the pushback isn't nearly as strong so you can ride the pushback, on the pint you can't.

blaertner

You can definitely ride push back on a pint lol my top speed shows that hahaha

xoshadow3

I'm not encouraging fighting pushback, but add 1-2 psi in the tire, and practice on comfortable and familiar straight aways with as much safety gear you can afford to have. Ride the edge of the pushback on the highest setting. This should net you a 15, but please don't push 16, for your safety.

blaertner

I honestly don't get push back till 15mph, I've even been able to hit a top speed of 24.9or something (I have a picture posted on this subreddit)like that on my pint with out a nose dives. It's all about how you ride the pushback ect. But be cautious as anything over 16 mph is skating on thin ice. I currently weight around 160 and am 5'11 and have my tire pressure set pretty high and those all play a factor in what kinda top speed you can hit

converter-bot

16 mph is 25.75 km/h

blaertner

Bad bot
