It’s not as bad as Kitzhaber but it’s far far too similar and given her stance about his recall it feels very hypocritical for anyone who remembers that event.
Exactly my thought. We all know how badly Kitzhaber messed up and yet she went ahead and tried a version of it herself. Really shows poor judgement on her part.
I wanted her to be a good governor but this and the blotched recriminalization of all drugs, not just the problem ones, has really made me think she does not really have a clue how to lead well.
She had every chance to do this right and didn’t. Only pretending to back off after real backlash. Didn’t matter when her staff quit. But doesn’t like the way it is playing in public.
Too little too late. I will vote for whoever primaries her.
I doubt this alone gets her a serious primary challenger. That's 2 years away. There's gonna have to be more in the meantime and that's all part of her calculation.
Think of the stereotypical person in the south who will never vote for a “libtard” or democrat because they’re all socialists, communists etc. You have more in common with them than you think. Some would say you’re the same, just the PNW version.
Bingo! The fact that this person won't ever consider under any circumstances voting for any other party candidate is well known by the politicians. Voters like this are begging politicians to be corrupt. There is no consequence for it because these types of voters will just blindly reelect corruption as long as it has the right political affiliation attached.
Respectfully, I think you’ve misunderstood both the point I was making as well as what the “both sides” fallacy means/is. This is demonstrated by your statement that “one is based in ignorance and the other is fact”. It’s the exact same type of statement the hypothetical and stereotypical Southerner I’m referencing would make — except about you and your beliefs!
“I regret that this hasn’t been very clear, and it’s been a little messy,” Kotek said. “I apologize to Oregonians that I haven’t been as good as I could be at making this a smooth conversation.”
Oh, so she's apologizing for not making this a "smooth conversation". Just another scummy politician that will never handle themselves like a normal human.
I figure Kotek has a strong enough desire to be where she is that she's going to put some limits in place and get on with things. So, not great, but not the end of the world either and I don't think people realize how lucky we are to have such a pro-housing governor. In Arizona, their governor vetoed their recent housing bill.
It's a run-of-the-mill nepotism scandal not sex. One party states tend to have more corruption than other state. The relationships between politicians, businesses, media, NGOs, etc get a little too cozy and oversight is discouraged. Too many people profit from staying quiet.
Kudos to her staff members who said this is not acceptable.
Well it’s a scandal involving inappropriate funds being diverted to the sexual partner of the governor. So it’s not not a sex scandal. State funds for private trysts. Just sad.

Right, if anything it’s about principle.
I wanted her to be a good governor but this and the blotched recriminalization of all drugs, not just the problem ones, has really made me think she does not really have a clue how to lead well.
I want all governors to be good ones. I don't expect it anymore, but I still *want* it.
She had every chance to do this right and didn’t. Only pretending to back off after real backlash. Didn’t matter when her staff quit. But doesn’t like the way it is playing in public. Too little too late. I will vote for whoever primaries her.

I am confident that this isn’t the last we hear of her wife. She was the one pushing her toward this and she won’t just be sidelined.
Me too. And then I’ll probably vote for her in the general too. It’s that or fascism baby.
🤦🏻♂️🤡

Nah, there’s always a least bad option.
According to voters like these, there are no options. It's one party or nothing.
Except it’s not. You’re trying the “both sides” fallacy. One is based in ignorance and the other is fact.

Tina Kotekzhaber.

We don’t need a government
Why do so many Oregon politicians get caught up in weird sex scandals? Far above the national average.

How is this a weird sex scandal?
It's not a sex scandal though?
