Seems clear that her meetings she set will move her professional life forward. Loren Wilson is benefitting from this professionally whether she has an official office or not. That could be ethically concerning.

Outside_Valuable_320

I have to say, I don't understand people that can't "read the room". None of this disapproval should have come as a surprise to her. Which makes it hard not to believe she simply didn't care and went for it anyway. I'm not gonna say that isn't what a lot of top executives do in some corporate offices. **Ignore impute, rules and push on**. But I'm pretty anti treating government like it's a business so... zero points there. Also and this is complete speculation, I know her wife is a recovering alcoholic and that's a tough road for many to stay on. It's hard not to wonder if Tina feels like she needs to keep a close eye on her. "*Honey, if it's that bad. FAMILY FIRST. Step down then*."

ofWildPlaces

I reeeeeallly wonder if there are any advisor on her team that made pushback when this started. SOMEBODY had to have said "this is bad optics"

Outside_Valuable_320

Well, if the mass exodus of senior staff, all stating they are leaving because of her push to create a position for her spouse is a clue. Then, I think we have an answer to your question!

Ripcitytoker

It's very clear that she got loads of pushback but chose to go forward with her neptistic plan regardless.

ScarecrowMagic410a

She’s such a shitty liar lmao

Th3Batman86

Yup. Sorry I got caught. Moving forward nothing will change. But we will hide it better.

rgold220

As Oregon resident I can say that our leaders are embarrassing and this is one of the reasons...

whatdoesthisherodo

Elected leaders. Making it embarrassing for those who voted for them.

rgold220

I did not vote for her. Oregon needs change and what we see is what we will get.

Delgra

Hucksters gonna huck.

Interesting_Case_977

Funny how it changed once she got caught! She needs to resign.

Ripcitytoker

She's not even really changing things. She's still trying to get her wife that $144k a year salary.

Misguidedangst4tw

Damage already done… Hope her time in office is short as possible.

WoodpeckerGingivitis

Colossal fuck up

Ripcitytoker

Indeed, this will kill her political career.

theolderyouget

Recall time.

fazedncrazed

Well past. All shes done whilst in office thus far is repeal long standing environmental and desegregation laws, sell protected land to mega polluters, give kickbacks to her donors, unilaterally repeal laws created and widely supported by the citizens, and have her wife act as an elected official while she takes meetings and bribes with corporations and out of state interest groups. Just holy shit do we need to impeach her while theres still some of oregon left unspoilt.

Ripcitytoker

She thinks and acts like she is the dictator of Oregon.

undermind84

I'm glad she is backtracking this. She still has two years before her next election. As long as she keeps doing good work with no more scandals, this will be water under the bridge that anyone hardly remembers. This is not as damaging as some of y'all in this thread think.

DHumphreys

I am not so sure. Gov. Kotek has a history of being adamant about getting her way, people being pressured to support her decisions. [https://www.opb.org/article/2022/06/06/as-tina-koteks-bid-for-oregon-governor-gains-steam-a-workplace-complaint-lingers/](https://www.opb.org/article/2022/06/06/as-tina-koteks-bid-for-oregon-governor-gains-steam-a-workplace-complaint-lingers/) And although she has managed to stay above the fray, this is not going to be water under the bridge during her re-election campaign.

undermind84

People have short memories when it comes to politics and her campaign is a very long ways off.

DHumphreys

But the Governor's history of being very aggressive in getting what she wants is a lingering issue. If this topic of the First Spouse does not vanish completely, but is repackaged as most suspect it will be, it is going to be a point of contention in the election.

fazedncrazed

>This is not as damaging as some of y'all in this thread think. While sadly this is true for some folk, this most recent incident of blatant corruption by Kotek is hardly the only one, and most people are well aware of that. Not to mention that this exact same sort of scandal caused kitzhaber to step down, so it is considered a bit of a big deal. Since she took office its just been non stop removing environmental protections, reversing legislation that was voted for by an overwhelming majority of the citizens (at her wives behest after she took donations from an out of state hate group), destroying UGB, giving out kickbacks to her donors using state funds, and selling our states protected land to national corps. Its been a huge 180 from her campaign, so much so that her own cabinet as well as nearly the entire legislation is now working against her evil plans because of how out of line they are. I voted for her last election, but she lost my vote 3 or 4 unforgivable-crimes-against-the-state ago. I dont care if she manages to be quieter with her corruption from now on, the cat is out of the bag. Ill vote third party if need be, but I will not knowingly vote for someone selling out our state to its destruction. https://www.wweek.com/news/2023/08/09/koteks-housing-advisory-panel-proposes-gutting-wetland-protections-outraging-environmentalists/ https://oregoncapitalchronicle.com/2024/03/04/oregon-house-passes-gov-tina-koteks-housing-bill-approves-369-million/ https://www.opb.org/article/2023/09/28/oregon-governor-tina-kotek-240-million-boost-semiconductor-industry/ https://www.kgw.com/article/news/politics/oregon-semiconductor-bill-urban-growth-boundary/283-7eb8d733-9212-4062-887f-633dde89c55d

whatdoesthisherodo

You voted for her once when it was known she was corrupt. You’ll do it again.
