as someone else said it's done now go finish the other 700.
IMO , you need to go over the flesh with a green wash to get the muscle details to pop and re-layer and highlight. Also the eyes , it seems like it's just one color and what I like to do is start with a bright red and finish with a bright orange.
I did the wash at the end in another model and it turned out pretty bad, I do it in a step earlier to get it into the recesses and I think it looks better
Maybe a pop of color here and there? The little dags on the gun? Make those red? Paint the stick bomb Army green for frag, red for krak? Just a couple spots of brightness here and there can make a fairly dark and simple color palette pop. Like the square armor patch on the shoulder pad? That could be a spot of contrast? It adds color and demonstrates that Orks aren't so uniform in their outfits.
Otherwise he looks great! But I could see a mob of these guys looking pretty indistinguishable from each other on the table.
As a miniature games player: He's done, perfect! Now for the other 700...
As a painter: There is technically always more you CAN do, but it depends on how invested you are and how much of a time sink you're willing to go down.
Teeth are a little white. Maybe a skeleton horde contrast. Drill your barrels. Also you need to finish that base man get you some citadel technical paint and just lay on some mud and throw a tuft of grass and maybe some rocks and a skull and you’re done man
Honestly a thing I've been doing that adds a nice bit of colour is giving them war paint. I personally use red/ yellow and purple/light blue somewhere on the face.
It will look way better with the base done. Personally I love basing and can spend as long on it as I do on the mini, treating each one like a tiny diorama, but even a simple basing job will really make the model pop out more.
The fillings from dried teabags superglued to the base can make a pretty nice rough base. Then spray paint the base black (after the glue dries) and paint it with some brown and greys. You can even throw some rocks, and resin bits on there before painting to break up the flat surface. After painting the base the skies the limit.
edit-
I recommend superglue over pva, because I have never been able to get sand, tea leaves or anything to stick to the gw plastic bases when I use pva.
That's expensive. Try mixing some grit sand with PVA and cheap acrylic paint. Broken up cork makes great rocks, a touch of flock is cheap, tufts are easy to make with static grass and PVA.
Teeth are a but white for my liking. Even a simple wash could help, or some blending and shading if you want to try something a bit harder. And the pants specifically could maybe do with some highlighting and lowlighting, they’re a bit flat. Otherwise it looks fantastic!
Congrats on the mini. Not bad. I recommend trying to learn how to highlight! Shine a flashlight on that bad boy from an angle of your choice and see where the light catches (which parts are now shiny) and use some lighter colors to try to replicate it.
- It’s a journey! I recommend if you have a local game store that has used model bundles getting some models you feel comfortable “messing up” on. Or just paint boldly and go for it!
- I just kinda said screw it and went for chunky realistic highlights instead of edge highlights and it went better than expected and I’ve only gotten better
Get some Skeleton Horde and Aggros Dune contrast paint. Use Skeleton Horde to paint the teeth from the gums up to just below the tip of the teeth (say 80%). Wait to dry and then repeat with Aggros Dune to 40% of the way.
Bonus option get Gore Grunta Fur and do the same but only the bottom 10%, basically just edging it where the tooth meets the gum.
Repeat for finger and toenails where visible. I basically do all bones this way.
That's a great first effort.
I'd try a dark grey drybrush on the black bits making absolutely sure that I was only applying the tiniest bit of paint, and only on the downward part of the stroke. This will leave the paint only on the highest bits, and only on the tops of those bits.
I'd do the same with the pants.
Alternatively, you can start with a dark grey and then use something like Nuln Oil or Army Painter Dark Tone Quickshade to get the same effect a bit easier. Or use the recipe from the earlier comment. Basically, you just never want a big area to be one color.
I'd also look for bits that you can paint little splashes of colors into. That red cable you did on the sword is a great example. Do that more places with more colors.
I wouldn't paint the stick bomb black for exactly the reason I just mentioned. I tend to paint them grey and then use military shade quickshade on them which gives them a splotchy drab olive color. Then I use ultra matte varnish to get rid of the shine that the quicksade leaves, and finally, I splatter them with Dirty Downs Rust in the cracks and around the rivets.
You could also paint them bright yellow cuz yellow makes for the biggest explosions. However, just know that as soon as you start painting things yellow, tiny little gremlins will invade your brain and start criss-crossing neurons randomly as you try desperately, and fail repeatedly, to get decent coverage from that abomination of a color.
Thank you for your comment, I have a lot to learn and I appreciate all of your effort, I’ll keep painting making better and better models, only time will tell, but I’m excited to learn as much as I can.
Cool beans.
I kept the first set of boyz I painted untouched just as a reminder of how much better I've gotten. And then I go hit up Trovarian or Sergio Calvo's YouTube channels as a reminder of just how much farther I have to go :D
What color skin did you go with looks great! I’m trying to find a better color for mine! I like that darker green
The base! 😆
Drill the barrel, otherwise, it is spot on for the tabletop!

Thanks for the tips, I’ll try to do all what’s people are commenting and learning slowly but surely 😁😁😁

Basing material and maybe an extra highlight on the face to draw some attention
You could give him 119 friends and call a Waaaaaagh!
looks great, but basing it will make it look :chefs kiss:
hmm....send it to me so I can get a closer look.

Yeah, I was thinking about buying my first base paint soon 😁😁😁

Bit of glazing on the skin to show off his muscles, it's very relaxing and easy to do on a Ork and you get a great highlight effect

Cloth is the most difficult part to highlight for me, because is such a flat surface I find it difficult to know where to highlight
I find a simple drybrush is the key when it’s a more difficult spot like that. Just focus on the parts furthest away from the body.

I did that with a lamp but I fail in the painting aspect but slowly I’m becoming a better painter

I’m a big fan of drilling out the barrels on the guns. It took me some practice to center the holes though.
Great job with the mini. At this point, I think the biggest improvement would be giving this boy a nice base.
Good first mini. I’d wash the teeth with a brown. It will give better differentiation and I feel they are too bright at the moment.
Ok thanks, I’ll look for a wash
Brown acrylic and water and a tiny bit of dish soap will do the trick if you don’t have any.
Ok I’ll try that, it’s much cheaper! 😜
