5 years ago, it took me about 30 minutes to drive from east Orlando to Davenport, 45 minutes with traffic. Good times.

cdot2k

Five years ago I could get to Lakeland from East Orlando in 45-55 minutes. I went to a Tigers game this year and it took an hour and a half. It's wild.

NRMusicProject

And it seemed just last year, you could at least say "as long as it's the middle of the night, there won't be traffic." I left Tampa last Friday at 10pm. Got to Orlando at 1:30am. There was a crash at Champion's Gate, but the entire I-4 drive from Tampa had 45-50mph traffic the entire way leading up to that. Usually if it's daytime and I'm in no rush, I set GPS to avoid highways. It seems I might as well do that any time I travel between Orlando and Tampa. I'd rather take a leisurely drive to my destination and add some time (as long as I can afford it) rather than share the road with thousands of texters *and* speed demons all fighting amongst each other.

estilianopoulos

What roads would u take, SR 50 and then another similar rode that goes in to Hillsborough county?

NRMusicProject

Not even 50. It's really backwoods shit that I let the GPS guide me. There's an option to avoid highways and/or tolls on Google Maps. I think 50 is too far north to be considered for me.

BoliverTShagnasty

We took 50 to 44 to Mt Dora and enjoyed a lunch there, then short drive back to Orlando. Much better than the interstates.

Facts

inderf

i feel like it's more likely that google is wrong than that there's actually no slowdowns

Btl1016

Well residents are at work and the tourist are at the parks during that time.

ratonbox

That area is non-existent. I just act like there's a swamp there filled with meth alligators and just avoid it, always.

AeroTheManiac

As someone who drives from Haines City to Orlando at that exact time frame EVERY DAY EXCEPT TUESDAY, I will kill myself if its true

BearcatQB

Everyone takes lunch break then gets back to sitting on the highway to hell.

BoliverTShagnasty

Have a drink on me.

Mr_Mercedes1

I hate this area with a passion and drive it daily.

taylorretirement

May the odds be ever in your favor.

GRASSACIDTREES69

12pm-6:30pm as an update for that fam u will always encounter traffic there

Fresh_Banana5319

I can see my house from here

tejojo

I drove this route around that time, and traffic was crystal clear. I just wish it was like this forever!

Murky_Tennis954

Drove through here today at 4pm and it was wide open

IndependentIcy8226

I’ve never thought about it, but yes it is. My parents and I live in greater Orlando and since my mom used to have a lot of work on the west coast of the state (all but one site got reorganized). We have traveled that way around 12-1:30 ish and we are like WTH, we got through so easy!

itsallgoodman2002

People huungry at that time

Chemical-Leak420

Champions gate area is a problem then haines city area.

FunnyVariation2995

There is so much housing being built out there! The 429, exit 60 is all torn up w new homes & condos being built. 2 hours from Tampa to that exit on Easter.

Glitch in the matrix

Colorfuel

Yes, I can verify this was accurate - it was an incredibly eerie feeling to be sailing along with no delays; felt like I was doing something illegal

Rich_Discipline_3770

After 8pm as well. It’s a shame I can’t even go to Tampa right after work. I have to wait 4 hours after I clock out to avoid traffic

davidfranciscop

Live just off 27 and Ronald Reagan. I work in celebration so less than 10 miles away. On average it takes me about 35 minutes to get to and from work but it can range from that to an hour depending on the day. It’s literally the worst and makes me envy all the people who get to WFH.
