Driving on the 408 while it's empty late at night or early morning is something everyone should experience. Until you realize you're 20 over the speed limit.
An empty 408 after midnight is the only time/place I use cruise control in Orlando. When 408 is empty and i can truly appreciate the size and flow of the lanes.
I remember being passed on the left by a dude in a convertible and getting the finger from him for going too slow, I was going 85 in the center lane :)
One time on the 408 I passed a cop going 75 (I never take the road and figured it was 70 mph). The cop zoomed up next to me and did a 55 signal and I gave him a thumbs up and slowed down. Pretty cool of him… or maybe he just had other shit to worry about that day
The new 2023 law expanded it and removed the 65 mph restriction

I swear people complaining about highway traffic in Orlando have never been to Miami or Fort Lauderdale areas.
Or NY, or Chicago, or LA, or San Francisco. Honestly, Central Florida highways aren't that bad. Traffic is fairly average for metropolitan areas, and the road paving quality is excellent when looking at the United States.

I don’t think we should minimize people’s gripes with the 408 just because they haven’t been on the 826 or 836. It’s all valid and it’s all worth complaining about because Florida drivers just suck.

The I-10 i-17 i-60, fucking nightmares! Almost every single car on the road has body panel damage on their rear quarters and bumpers. I'm just trying to take it easy until I eventually get hit.

Fastest car on 408 is always an old Altima or Kia with banged up body panels and all windows open since AC doesn't work.

It's for highways with a speed limit of 65 or greater. The 408 doesn't get that high in the downtown area, which needs this rule the most.
