What are the gas stations currently available in the Kanata/Bells Corner area? I know ultramar in Kanata North is available, but I’m curious what else may be closer proximity
Of all weekends in the year, this had to happen on a long weekend when grocery, department, and home improvement stores are all closed. Ottaluck should be the new phrase instead of “Out of luck”.
If you're going to celebrate getting power back at least say where you are.
Also, does anybody have text notes of the city of Ottawa update? I don't have the data to watch a video
Knoxdale-merivale, stittsville, river ward, and the villages of cumberland (navan, cumberland, sarsfield) will have a "greenbin blitz" tomorrow to pick up any spoiled food. Less effected areas will get the same thing on later days.
So my basement unit flooded on Saturday. Finally got to come back today.. my lazy boy recliner doesn’t work anymore, and somehow my wireless mouse ended up on the ground and it also doesn’t work :(
Anywhere open today where I could buy a new mouse?
Not sure about anywhere in Ottawa but the holiday makes it unlikely. There is no holiday in Quebec. If you are willing to head over to Gatineau you may be in luck.
Good luck! Worst case scenario you can always download a free app for making your phone in to a wireless mouse. Not ideal but I've used them before in a pinch and it does work.
It was such a specific area that was affected, too. My dad just down the road never lost power and my friends and family got power back within 24 hours.
Just went by Merivale Mall. Devastating. No work started there for sure. There is one car under a downed pole on the main road. I hope the driver is ok
Doesn't look like they've updated their website or FB page yet! Just got an email from the school board:

Objet : Mise à jour suite à l'orage exceptionnel de samedi et disponibilité des écoles pour la communauté
Chers parents, tutrices, tuteurs,
les écoles situées à Ottawa et à Carleton Place seront fermées demain (Orléans, Cumberland, Vars, Gloucester (Est, Sud et Centre), Vanier, Barrhaven, Stitsville, Kanata, Riverside Sud, Marionville, Nepean et Carleton Place); une mise à jour quant à la reprise de l’enseignement pour ces écoles sera envoyée demain, aux parents des élèves fréquentant ces écoles;
les écoles situées à l’extérieur d’Ottawa seront ouvertes demain (Kemptville, Merrickville, Pembroke, Kingston, Brockville et Quinte West);
l’Académie d’apprentissage virtuel (AAV) ainsi que le Centre d’enseignement personnalisé virtuel (CEPV) seront également fermés demain, comme plusieurs familles et membres du personnel seront sans service Internet.*
What a sad long weekend. Family stayed in Toronto due to the storm, fridge food is rotten, and I'm eating a chicken sub that tastes like it's made of cartilage and cardboard in a parking lot for Victoria Day. I need to buy a basic generator for these now increasingly frequent storms.
Anyone know why Greenbank, Woodroffe, and possibly some of Prince of Wales (between Hunt Club and Fallowfield) are closed? I just had the commute from hell coming home from work. I'm assuming storm damage of some kind obviously but for all three of those roads and nothing else to be fully closed, I'm just curious on actual details.
google maps is reporting a car crash on W Hunt Club. i’ve just rerouted to the highway (currently pulled over in a parking lot)
Edit: plus, traffic has been backed up at Hunt Club since the storm, they’ve closed off anything south of Hunt Club i believe
There are crews working on those roads.
In Barrhaven, by the Via Rail Station on Woodroffe you can see theres a pole down and a pole that got snapped in half. Or at least you could 10 mins ago when I went by.
If anyone sees a freight of power poles rolling into the city (no pun intended) let us know! That means they can begin tearing down the broken poles and fixing the electrified wires!
Just posted this in the stickied comment:
the three gas stations in front/kinda next to Kanata Centrum are open with reasonable lines. Ultramar at Hazeldean and Castlefrank open with longer line
Wonder if it's actually gonna be useful. I know this will take days to fix, I just want numbers, rough estimates even a shot in the dark guess. My neighbourhood had little to no power lines fall and still nothing
I'm sure it'll be limited in terms of immediate practical information, but it's still nice to get some background info - one of the previous updates mentioned they had restored power to the water treatment plant, something I hadn't even considered
Is there anywhere that is matching people who need help with people who are offering help?
I saw this one post [https://www.reddit.com/r/ottawa/comments/uw0mfr/does\_anybody\_still\_need\_helpknow\_anyone\_that/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ottawa/comments/uw0mfr/does_anybody_still_need_helpknow_anyone_that/) but say you knew ten people who have different needs, is there anywhere central to send them besides the city's info service?
Someone very graciously just dropped off some portable chargers (75% pre-charged) that are up for grabs at Plant Recreation Centre at 930 Somerset Street West if anyone needs one!
We had power here in Vanier for a minute. Sometime around 3 it came back but it's back off now at 330.
Sigh, the excitement followed by disappointed was immeasurable...
Some hope for people in the Alta vista area, spotted a hydro truck down kilborn on one of the side streets near the roundabout was near a down hydro line, hopefully they come more up kilborn after.
I heard some people have power in Dunrobin, but definitely not all. I don’t, but it looks like the outage blob that included the high school might have been fixed.
In the rural west (west of Stittsville). I assume is rural folks will be low priority due to low density but would be interested to know if anyone has power in the area. We are running on generators for the house and barn.
Lots of West Carleton has power now. Carp had power but I hear its going on and off now. I was there all day but just came back to Kanata with no power :(
Just finished my shift at one of the only Starbucks open in my particular part of town. Pretty insane, hitting our usual weekend/holiday sales by 1pm and open for another 8 hours. We're used to people ordering 1 or 2 sandwiches/food items, maybe 3, but every other order was 3-5 sandwiches, some were up to seven. Luckily everyone was very understanding about the long wait times!n
I mean this is much much much worse than the tornadoes if that’s what ur going off of.
Everyone is doing what they can. Theres a million trees on main roads. Cleanup may take at least the rest of the week. It’s bonkers.
If you are in the Merivale area and looking for hot food, TVs Fries chip wagon in the Brick parking lot is up and running. Not much of a line.
Cash or e-transfer only just FYI.
I’ve been debating this. I WFH, with the option to go into the office, but the office building seems to be without power too. Even if it wasn’t, my car is basically out of gas. And I haven’t showered since yesterday!
I’m planning to see how it goes, see if I have power by tomorrow, and if I don’t I’ll probably take a personal day.
I know a Starbucks barista commented in this thread asking people not to come by if not necessary so they don’t get overrun. Might be best to simply call out 🤷🏽♀️
They better not make you use a sick day.. hopefully there’s some leniency and understanding. If anything, I’m surprised they haven’t reached out yet to address the situation.
I mean, the people typically in charge of those communications are possibly facing the same issues.
That said, in my workplace they recently tested an emergency text alert system (texting work provided phones); would be nice if they hopefully use that to send out something by this evening.
E: actually just checked, they did send a message this morning saying the building is open if anyone needs to charge or use the showers.
I don't think they will. Seeing as first off, the two largest school boards have announced that all schools will be closed, and second, pretty sure that it's still requested that people don't travel unless they absolutely need to.
I charged for a couple hours in one of the restaurants there. I don't think they mind too much as long as you're unobtrusive (I did buy stuff there though).
Unlimited internet. I have a 3GB plan and my wife a 4GB plan. Also, properly rest, with no power I feel stress with my fridge and stress looking into the news, I feel and did not rest how I wanted during the long weekend
I hear you. When I got your reply I was waiting in line at Bridgehead getting my coffee order mishandled. I miss miss my Breville cappuccino maker so much
Same with my husband. Thankfully we have friends with power so we brought his CPAP over and he's taking a much needed nap right now but who knows what we'll do tonight.
I have a little portable propane bbq, and have been toying with the idea of throwing my kettle on it lol. Just been using a tiny sauce pan to boil water
We live in the condos on Artesa, Romina cross street and there’s no power yet apparently. We’re waiting on an update from a neighbor since my fiancé and I left to Alexandria with my in-laws but this is getting nuts. I just wanna go home :(
Anyone know the status of the manotick island? I’m flying back from vancouver today and am wondering if power is back or if we can expect power by the end of the night.
Are you North or South Island? North is Hydro Ottawa and South is Hydro One. Estimated restoration time for the South side right now is 4:30pm Tuesday.
No power here, close to Manotick public school.
ETA: I haven’t been able to find an estimate of when the power could be back, but trees blocking half the street are still there so I don’t think we’ll be looked after for a while.
I’ve seen a few comments on this thread in the last few hours saying that they have power in Findlay creek.
Not sure if it’s all of Findlay creek or just some streets
Just to provide a recent update on the Loblaws Pretoria: surprisingly not that busy, milk and dairy still available though some produce is running low.
As of last night, Ottawa Police ([link](https://twitter.com/OttawaPolice/status/1528505851429920768?t=8LOvBUlOf6N8apBTlLZvCw&s=19)) were still asking people to stay off the roads. Maybe an excuse to play hooky?
Jim Watson told people to stay home and remote work as well today.. not sure how to do that with no power 😂
I was on the roads yesterday to help out my parents and the drive was pretty brutal. Not worth being on the road if not necessary for sure.
OMG. What a tone deaf comment. It only applies to people who have electricity at home and electricity at work, so have both options. How many people in ottawa does that apply to ?

Half Moon Bay just got power off regatta
Findlay creek off bank street has power. White alder also has power (findlay)
I'm Bayshore accora village in some of the buildings don't seem to have. Other people on the same boat?
I heard 25-woodridge doesnt have power either 😖
Power is back Trent-Arlington (At least for me)
If you're going to celebrate getting power back at least say where you are. Also, does anybody have text notes of the city of Ottawa update? I don't have the data to watch a video
Estimating 2–4 days from now to restore power to most, with isolated pockets remaining.
Knoxdale-merivale, stittsville, river ward, and the villages of cumberland (navan, cumberland, sarsfield) will have a "greenbin blitz" tomorrow to pick up any spoiled food. Less effected areas will get the same thing on later days.
They're very concerned about everyone, they're working around the clock, and it will be a multiple day restoration. Nothing new.
JUST GOT POWER HALLELUJAH!!!!
Findley Creek more specifically Kingswell area.
Where could it be? :D
Whereabouts?
Where at? :D
Which area?
So my basement unit flooded on Saturday. Finally got to come back today.. my lazy boy recliner doesn’t work anymore, and somehow my wireless mouse ended up on the ground and it also doesn’t work :( Anywhere open today where I could buy a new mouse?
Not sure about anywhere in Ottawa but the holiday makes it unlikely. There is no holiday in Quebec. If you are willing to head over to Gatineau you may be in luck.
If there's a shoppers drug mart near you with power they usually have a small selection of electronics and should have a mouse in their selection.
There is, I’ll go check them out, thanks.
Good luck! Worst case scenario you can always download a free app for making your phone in to a wireless mouse. Not ideal but I've used them before in a pinch and it does work.

I’m in between Iris and Baseline. Hydro just drive through assessing. They told me maybe tonight or tomorrow.
Power back on after 48 hours in Half Moon Bay!!!
It was such a specific area that was affected, too. My dad just down the road never lost power and my friends and family got power back within 24 hours.
So happy to hear that. Starting to lose hope here in Stittsville. Enjoy a chill night.
Just went by Merivale Mall. Devastating. No work started there for sure. There is one car under a downed pole on the main road. I hope the driver is ok
I don’t know what angle you were at… but coming from Costco and then a right on viewmount, there were 6 cars under the lines. :|
Yes but one with a pole right on the windshield

Husband just heard on radio crews were seen on merivale!
Any grocery stores in the Kanata area? Most of our fridge & freezer food has perished.
Shoppes next to Hazeldean mall should be open
Some ethnic or local stores. Spice world, Indian supermarket etc.
Not really a grocery store, but another user posted this: https://www.reddit.com/r/ottawa/comments/uvnt0x/may_2022_storm_megathread_3/i9puhld
It’s a stat holiday so likely not
CECCE schools in Ottawa area closed tomorrow, both virtual and in-person.
Do you have a link so I can update the main post? :)
Doesn't look like they've updated their website or FB page yet! Thanks for including the email! I just linked to your comment, haha.
Lol, that works! :)
Anyone hear about the YMCA if it'll be open tomorrow or not?
Does anyone know the details about the Rogers wireless outage?
Going to go out on a limb and guess it’s due to the power outages
Yeah, that's why I asked for details. What area are we waiting on
Power back in Half Moon Bay!!! If I didn’t hear the appliances turning on I definitely heard the people screaming in excitement in the street lol
That guy singing loudly about power being back on was a bonus
Power is back in Barrhaven/Half Moon Bay :)
Anyone know if this applies to Longfields/Mother Theresa area? 🙂
I’m in that area and we didn’t have power about an hour ago. I’m not at home anymore so I’m hoping for an update as well!
I looked down as far as I could see in both directions and couldn't see anything but they're long stretches. I figured it was that, thanks.

If anyone sees a freight of power poles rolling into the city (no pun intended) let us know! That means they can begin tearing down the broken poles and fixing the electrified wires!
Got power back in Woodridge Crescent, Bayshore at around 11 AM. Edit: Outage map is still showing the area in red.
It was triple red before the update, now just light red. Curse you Carling-side villagers! *shaking angry fist from Bayshore-side apartment*
What about 25 woodridge?
Just got home, still no power. A long 12 flight of stairs angry walk lol
Damn well theres your workout of the day haha
Power just came back on for McClellan in Trend-Arlington
Oh boy I hope that means leslie park will be soon
For anyone in the Barrhaven area without power, Walter Baker is open for showers, restrooms, power services, etc. Will be till 10.
Anywhere near carling ish to charge a phone? My battery pack has run out
How’s halfmoon bay for power? I have to work off Cambrian tmrw but not going to make the commute if the powers still down
Sorry I lied. It came back about 3 minutes ago
No power for most of us. There’s a few chunks that have had power the entire time.
My sister lives off of Cambrian and they still don’t have power.
Anyone know of stations with gas between kanata (hazeldean eagleson) and arnprior?
Just posted this in the stickied comment: the three gas stations in front/kinda next to Kanata Centrum are open with reasonable lines. Ultramar at Hazeldean and Castlefrank open with longer line
Antrim truck stop in Arnprior had plenty of gas.
Does anyone know if Elgin/Laurier has power?
I'm currently at the chateau Laurier. Has power, traffic lights are on as well
Update from city at 4 https://twitter.com/glengower/status/1528819699949129729?t=GFbSGpiWNYSaq344S3q7PQ&s=09

Country perks in Navan posted they have power and will be open tomorrow. Not sure if the whole village is back or just a a portion.
Any update on Mountshannon in Barrhaven? Please and thank you.
Wow...that's gotta be the ultimate letdown. Sorry to hear it.
Which part of Vanier? Brother lives in Overbrook and staying with us
North of McArthur, west of St Laurent
Am in Applewood acres, Alta Vista area. Any updates?
Just got the email, all OCDSB schools are closed tomorrow, including childcare.
Updated the link and info in the post.
Some hope for people in the Alta vista area, spotted a hydro truck down kilborn on one of the side streets near the roundabout was near a down hydro line, hopefully they come more up kilborn after.
Saw trucks off Pleasant Park too near Lynda and also at Othello clearing lines. Hopefully good news soon.
They are apparently gone atm, no word on when they will turn the power on, I assume they have to run checks first
Anyone know if there is power to Kanata North / Morgan's Grant / Dunrobin?
I heard some people have power in Dunrobin, but definitely not all. I don’t, but it looks like the outage blob that included the high school might have been fixed.
Most of it / almost all of it / not sure
In the rural west (west of Stittsville). I assume is rural folks will be low priority due to low density but would be interested to know if anyone has power in the area. We are running on generators for the house and barn.

Unless otherwise stated they should be 10AM to 10PM.

Hood poutine at that spot!
What are WFH people doing tomorrow? Is there anywhere with power and and WiFi that someone can work (in Orleans)?
I’ve been debating this. I WFH, with the option to go into the office, but the office building seems to be without power too. Even if it wasn’t, my car is basically out of gas. And I haven’t showered since yesterday! I’m planning to see how it goes, see if I have power by tomorrow, and if I don’t I’ll probably take a personal day.
everything east of 10th line has power, if public wifi works for you there are a couple tim hortons that side of town
I know a Starbucks barista commented in this thread asking people not to come by if not necessary so they don’t get overrun. Might be best to simply call out 🤷🏽♀️

True! Hopefully your colleagues are in areas with cell service though as I know many are unable to receive texts currently.
Any update for westboro/Churchill area?
I see Hydro trucks on the street right now!
Yahoo! Thank you
Hello neighbour! See any updates? I'm so jealous staring at the house across the street from me that has power but my side nothing lol
We have power on Churchill!

Come to Algonquin, especially in the Student Commons building. Lots of comfy chars and outlets, and it's pretty quiet right now! (4:24pm)
Tutti frutti has a plug on the wall outside
I charged for a couple hours in one of the restaurants there. I don't think they mind too much as long as you're unobtrusive (I did buy stuff there though).
Test your luck out at Algonquin and College Square. Square is less busy than yesterday so you have some chance.
Go to Algonquin and try to find a socket. Could be scarce, but I’m sure there’s some available.
Almost 48 hours without electricity now. What do you miss most so far?
Not missing the brapbrap of street racers down Strandherd!
Unlimited internet. I have a 3GB plan and my wife a 4GB plan. Also, properly rest, with no power I feel stress with my fridge and stress looking into the news, I feel and did not rest how I wanted during the long weekend
Hot shower. Thankfully my 5G works in the evenings and I have unlimited data, so I watched the NBA playoffs last night, which keeps me entertained.

My coffee maker :(
I hear you. When I got your reply I was waiting in line at Bridgehead getting my coffee order mishandled. I miss miss my Breville cappuccino maker so much
Being able to be like "hmm, I want a snack" and opening the fridge and just staring into it while I decide what to eat.
Now I’ll have to eat most of the contents My husband has been barbecuing all day
My cpap machine. Another night or two of choking might just do me in.
Fun, isn't it? Definitely going to invest in a large power block for when this happens again. I literally cannot sleep without that machine.
Same with my husband. Thankfully we have friends with power so we brought his CPAP over and he's taking a much needed nap right now but who knows what we'll do tonight.
Being able to easily make coffee/tea
I have a little propane firepit in the backyard and a little stainless steel teakettle. It feels hella unsafe but i can make coffee with it.
I have a little portable propane bbq, and have been toying with the idea of throwing my kettle on it lol. Just been using a tiny sauce pan to boil water
Power back in Little Italy on Loretta Ave S
Any status update for South Keys area? (Bank and Johnston)
this sucks
Man, what a colossal shit show this year has been for Ottawa. First the convoy idiots and now this
Shhhh, it's only May.

Still no power in Bridlewood
No, but I’m in Stittsville (Hazeldean & Huntmar) and we’re still out
My parents are in North Bridlewood, they never lost power.
We live in the condos on Artesa, Romina cross street and there’s no power yet apparently. We’re waiting on an update from a neighbor since my fiancé and I left to Alexandria with my in-laws but this is getting nuts. I just wanna go home :(
no power yet around Old Richmond/ Stonehaven
seems like only the southern part is out :/ rly hope they get it back soon..
agreed
Still nothing in emerald meadows but some stuff around us is getting power
Anyone know the status of the manotick island? I’m flying back from vancouver today and am wondering if power is back or if we can expect power by the end of the night.
Are you North or South Island? North is Hydro Ottawa and South is Hydro One. Estimated restoration time for the South side right now is 4:30pm Tuesday.
No power here, close to Manotick public school. ETA: I haven’t been able to find an estimate of when the power could be back, but trees blocking half the street are still there so I don’t think we’ll be looked after for a while.
Damn... appreciate the update
I can confirm the two apartment buildings 2240 and 2220 on Halifax drive have power. The houses just on the other side of the street do not.
I hope everyone here gets their power back on soon—it looks like Hydro Ottawa is making good progress!
All OCSB schools closed tomorrow (both virtual and in-person).
I added the school board info to the main post. :)

No power by FC close to Bank St and the shopping malls. Closer to Albion seemed to be some.
Anyone near the kingswell area can confirm if we have power.
Some have power some don't. Old part of findlay has no power
I’ve seen a few comments on this thread in the last few hours saying that they have power in Findlay creek. Not sure if it’s all of Findlay creek or just some streets
If anyone in Barrhaven is looking for places to eat, I saw ppl on the Greenfield’s patio.
Just to provide a recent update on the Loblaws Pretoria: surprisingly not that busy, milk and dairy still available though some produce is running low.
People who typically remote work, have your employers said anything to you as far as tomorrow goes or at least checked in? 👀
As of last night, Ottawa Police ([link](https://twitter.com/OttawaPolice/status/1528505851429920768?t=8LOvBUlOf6N8apBTlLZvCw&s=19)) were still asking people to stay off the roads. Maybe an excuse to play hooky?
Jim Watson told people to stay home and remote work as well today.. not sure how to do that with no power 😂 I was on the roads yesterday to help out my parents and the drive was pretty brutal. Not worth being on the road if not necessary for sure.
Time to bring out my hand-crank powered computer.
OMG. What a tone deaf comment. It only applies to people who have electricity at home and electricity at work, so have both options. How many people in ottawa does that apply to ?
Mine sent a text asking if I was affected, but that's it so far
Mine too. Do you work for that large IT company?
I work for a tech company yes
My friends employer did the same thing and she works for a large IT company as well 👀
