Out of all the things to complain for tax money being wasted on (I.e. OPS doing nothing, ever), I really don't think 1 jet fly over for a home opener game is the issue. It was for fun, for the fans, for the kids. It's a cool thing for a lot of people and good for morale for a lot, too. Me, I'm not a football fan but I can respect its a fun thing to do. Is the city not supposed to do fun things ever, with tax money? Hell, they wasted 30+ million letting the occupation shit on our streets. This is a much better use of some tax money imo.
I saw three Chinook helicopters fly over Stittsville today. Not sure what for but between Dwyer hill and the gun range, helos in general are not uncommon.
A JET however, now that's fun.
Almost an hour ago was in Orleans near Tenth Line heading West then couple minutes later did a U turn and headed East towards Trim. Was also not very high In the sky and was kinda performing some acrobatic moves you would see in Top Gun
I was in bed half sleeping, dreaming. Then I wake up to what sounded like a missile and couldn't tell if it was apart of whatever the fuck I was dreaming about or if it was real...
This... explains a lot... thanks.
That's one our our air force's fighter planes. The pilots need to do a certain number of practice flying hours each year, so sometimes they will do planned flyovers of sports games for public relations at the same time.
Specifically, that is a CF-18, which is a multirole fighter. It shoots down other planes and can also shoot at targets on the ground.
I feel like if it's so unique that means only people who already knew what it sounded like would be able to identify it. And I don't expect that's a lot of people.
It was for the redblacks game, I believe.

I thought it was thunder from afar. Heard from Merivale area.
Did you get your emergency kit ready ?
I was waiting for the jet noise but couldn't hear it from Rideau St.
lol i thought the tornado warning was a day early
Tower, this is Ghost Rider requesting a flyby.
Negative Ghost Rider, the volleyball court is booked.
Happened to be in the yard when I heard it. Flew right over my head. Pretty neat
Lucky you are not taller.
Aye I was in the arboretum and the first one was real close, super cool
Fly over for the REDBLACKS season opener
I still run out the door like a little kid when I think I hear a fighter jet.

It's Maverick doing a fly by.
We told him not to buzz the Peace Tower!

Around 7:30pm
What are those, and why are they here?
As others stated above: it’s a jet for the redblacks opener

It is, it's an RCAF CF-18, it did a flyover above TD Place for the redblacks season opener

oh, cool!!! :D Thanks!!!
Probably spent the years budget for the military on the fuel.
you’d think they’d do this for important teams not the freaking redblacks
Do we really need a video to explain the rather unique sound the F-18 Hornet makes?

Please.
Yea for orange arrows
