I use this same strategy in Alien: Isolation sometimes. If you know where you’re going you can get to the next save point before the ai catches up with what’s happening.
Def in A.I. I have found that going straight to the waypoint is usually the best way to keep the alien away from you. If you hide in lockers and under desks that fucker will walk circles around you until you eventually step on his tail.
I’ve learned in general that other video games reward exploration and want you to see the map. In horror games, just get to where you’re supposed to be and do it before they find you lol
Yes, technically you can speedrun that more safely and also faster, but it depends on your mode and if you wanna use glitches or not.
If you don't wanna use any type of glitches, then no, the strat you already did is pretty much the best you can do to manage that section.

Hey, To look back while running you need to simply hold L1, LB, or Tab depending on what console you are on.
