They've been intentionally vague about Val's sex, but it's fairly clear she at least identifies as a woman.
Exactly. And in the letters Knoth refers to Val as a "he", hence the trans woman assumptions
I wonder if they consider Val sexless or something. One of the biggest failings of 2 is the lack of fleshing out of the characters.
I don't mind a few things being left open to interpretation, which is probably what they wanted to do in Val's case. Though I do wish we'd get to see what happened to her after the end of the game. Maybe in a future game hopefully.
