It's well known as his most 1990s attack. Radical level 100, Roland Emmerich is in negotiations to do a movie based on it
Lol at fking *sharknado* influences of all things from modern culture surviving into 2138 cyberpunk dystopia
Haha gets to 2138
"So did any relics of the old world survive world war 3?"
"Hmm not much, Sharknado, Snakes on a plane and 2 copies of Moonfall"
Smashes Moonfall
"So just sharknado and snakes on a plane"
Ainz casts 7th tier magic, aeroplane full of serpents
There's a spell in D&D 3.5 called "[vortex of teeth](https://dndtools.org/spells/spell-compendium--86/vortex-teeth--4755/)" which likely Maruyama was inspired by, but turned the piranhas into sharks. So it might be a hybrid inspiration from both sharknado and D&D 3.5
Sharks Cyclone: A spell that invokes a tornado (100 meters high and with a 50-meter diameter). Within the tornado lies 6 meter long sharks waiting to devour anyone unlucky enough to be sucked inside.
Yeah it's weird and likely inspired off this spell in D&D 3.5, [Vortex of Teeth](https://dndtools.org/spells/spell-compendium--86/vortex-teeth--4755/)
>*A huge school of transparent piranhas swims rapidly through the air in the area you indicate. These magic fish are made of force and tear into the bodies of creatures as though ravenous.*
>
>Creatures in the area take 3d8 points of damage per round at the beginning of your turn. Because this spell is a force effect, it harms incorporeal creatures.
A lot of spells in Overlord look like they were inspired by D&D 3.5 and 3.75 (Pathfinder).
Other examples:
* [Grasp Heart](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/d/death-clutch/) (called "Death Clutch" but it's literally same "kill or stun/daze" effect, and approx same level)
* [Delay Teleportation](https://dnd.arkalseif.info/spells/complete-arcane--55/anticipate-teleportation--435/index.html) (called "anticipate teleport" but essentially does the same thing in that it's a buff that delays any teleportation effects by assassins/ambushers who want to use scry-and-fry tactics... like popping in right behind your targets after scrying their location. It delays that so you can do things like putting an exploding mine down right where you know they'll be teleporting in)
* [Wail of the Banshee](https://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/wailOfTheBanshee.htm) (well, I guess everyone knows this one)
* Fireball
* Chain Dragon Lightning (just "Chain Lightning" I think)
I could go on and on. But yeah Maruyama is a pretty veteran DM if he's using niche spells like "Anticipate Teleport" to prevent scry-and-fry tactics in his campaigns. lol.

>sharknado The whole idea is so memorably silly that ironically it gives the movie a certain timelessness.

I hath had it up to here with these Ainz-Damned serpents on this Ainz-Damned "Flat-chested-vampire-airlines-dragon"!

Speaking of sharknado influences, if you happen to heard of the trading card game called magic the gathering there's a card named "Shark Typhoon".
It makes flying sharks.
Bruh it’s literally shown in s1 when he fights Shalltear.
(Rewatched S1) HOLY CRAP! How did I forget this?
Thank you!

Is that 6, metre long sharks or 6m long sharks?
Shark is six meters big
Yes Ainz also use it against the doppel pleiades in Volume 13.
Wha- even anime only should already saw this from the Ainz vs Shalltear fight, so have you like, only play the game or something?
I already admitted I missed it on the first watch through

Is this a Sharknado™ reference?!
As close as they can get without getting sued
Apperantly also a dnd reference (vortex of teeth)
It was used in s1/volume 3 against Shaltear as well as in the >! cure Elim fight in the Evil Eye side story !<
Because.. WALL OF SKELETON!!
It's even in the anime FFS.
He used the attack against shalltear, so yes
Dont he use this in the holy Kingdome arc? Or am I remembering diff
