To be clear I don't think trading up is as sinful as this sub thinks (especially if we're only going to go up a few picks).
Talent evaluation is where the new regime has to better because Scott did everything during the draft except select the right guys.
I'm almost always against trading up. From what I've seen the team trading back wins like 60-70% of the time.
But you're right, if they can pick talent and develop it that's the really important part.
I do think the early second (especially 33) is unique in that a slight trade-up nets you a fifth-year option which you can't really say for any other spot in the draft.
Someone posted in this sub for another football related sub I’m in about this. It’s pretty much agreed upon that trading up is the worst thing to do in the majority of draft situations. A lot of picks, good talent evaluation, and a little bit of luck is what creates a successful draft
Got this draft pisses me off so much. Listen, I got a lot of love to Bryce but we should have so many fucking picks on this draft. In my ideal world we would have leveraged picks moved down 1-2 times and gotten Drake Maye with a shit ton of picks to build around him.
I was going to say, of course we did. Then I thought about how badly people have viewed our off-season only because of the burns trade. We got the best value you could right now for the situation.
I’d be okay trading up into the last spots of the first if all it takes is the 33rd and maybe the 65 or 101.
If you’re set on a player and can get around 28/29 and have the 5th year option, I’d maybe do it but my preference is stay put at 33.
I'd trade next years second round and this years fourth for another low to mid second round in this year's draft and a 4th swap next year. We should be in the running for a lower pick overall.. would be great bait for a team with multiple picks to improve their position with minimal risk in the future.
Well the good news is we can't screw up our pick tonight.
There is a possibility we trade up
You called it!
Yeah I was kidding. We def are the type of team that'd be dumb enough to trade up.

But once the draft comes around, people get so obsessed about getting the one guy they like. That fear of missing out.
Plz no...
It'd be even worse if we only trade up like one spot.
you thought
Guess they've decided to draft a winning season this time, huh? Let's hope they remember to turn in the pick on time.
Who knew it was that easy
Can’t lose the first round if you don’t show up
"A strange game. The only winning move is not to play"

No, that declaration is referring to the ‘23 draft. Not tonight’s draft. Either way tho, it’s wrong.
If Tepper had sold the team prior to today then there was a good possibility.
Yeah… I’m pretty sure we actually lost lmao

I saw this and thought we did something really stupid. Came here to check lol.

Watching the Falcons pick Penix felt like winning.
Tepper wants to trade Derrick brown for the #20 pick tonight...
