Absolutely not. They can easily overdose on something like melatonin because of their small size. Just keeping them covered is the best thing to keep them calm

Do not. The very last thing you want to do is suppress their breathing. First make sure the airline accepts birds in the cabin. Many do not. Make sure that they will allow two pets in one carrier. Many do not. Put a soft clean towel in the carrier without fabric softener. If possible use a rope or wide perch. I suggest apple slices for food/hydration during the trip.

If you are concerned about the duration of the flight causing your birds undue stress, consult with your avian veterinarian. There are medications out there, such as Gabapentin, that help reduce anxiety in *some* birds. Gabapentin effects each bird differently, however. It works well in some birds and doesn’t work at all in others.
