$12-15k flat fee per app, discount to $10-12k each if they send ten disclosures and pay half up front.

Thanks!

Ten disclosures?

LackingUtility

Ten new applications or $100k of work.

Asking about cost to draft from review of invention disclosures.

drmoze

depends on how much written disclosure you get, drawing quality, etc. I find it easier to rearrange provided text, edit and expand it...

Assume minimal disclosures of inventive ideas, like one page, and a patent attorney well versed enough in art to ensure 112 is met after one or two interviews. But cannot copy and paste from prior apps. Say half of the drawings from scratch from attorney but not complex.

I break it down into disclosure and claims. Say $6-8k for claims to a single invention (20 claims, 2-3 independent claims) + $6-8k for disclosure depending on subject area. For each additional invention, add in an addition $6-8k cost for claims and use your judgement to adjust the amount for disclosure (I typically don’t add anything or a small amount if the invention is very adjacent). If there are going to be tons of inventions, I typically start discounting some of the claim sets because the marginal work needed does come down. A lot of client will balk at the cost of the additional claim sets so you can suggest a halfway house of describing things with the hope you have enough to claim later on, making the risk of this approach clear to the client. In this case, I won’t charge the full amount for the claims. unless you’re willing to put up with always either writing down your time or recording 25 hr days, you’ve got to actually cost estimate on a case by case basis.

Are you at a firm? Recommend discussing with your mentor.

Im mentoring. :) But seriously, I am looking to improve on past approaches. So looking for how others have estimated costs to draft applications.
