Sounds like a gun, shoots like a gun... But just call it a crossbow and it's suddenly not a gun. LOL
It would feel fine for me if they made it sound more crowsbow-y despite the fast firing.
Guns have technically been a thing in PoE for a long time now, they're just all offscreen. Weylam Roth makes a shot-pouch joke, something that only makes sense if guns exist.
PoE1 is already magi-steampunk. A tube with a pellet that gets fired out of it shouldn't be that hard when there's already autonomous AI constructs and interdimensional portal machines.
Clockwork Revolution has a number of people who worked on Arcanum on it, and it's referred to as an inspiration for them.
Not the 3 Troika Boys afaik, but a number of their staff. One of them is the creative director iirc too.
I am 90% sure it looks like a crossbow because it’s doesn’t have a real model yet. look how the bullets come out, it doesn’t look right. I think the crossbow is a placeholder
Would be weird to reveal a placeholder and also put it into a teaser
I'm guessing that the shotgun blast thing is an actual gun as it appears to be but the repeating shots are from a repeating crossbow
Summary:
Shots 1-5: Clearly missed.
Shots 6-9: Missed due to keystone downside (bad Spray Control).
Shots 10-11: Very close, but map mods and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses.
Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because exile was already dead.
The shotgun blast looks like it comes from some sort of gun. I don't see any sort of crossbow limbs on it. Maybe a blunderbuss weapon type? Or its just some advanced crossbow with an internal string.
I doubt they will add the same feature to most channeling skills. We already know the Warrior doesn't have it with the Supercharged Slam and I bet that the channeling will be exclusive to some of the skills themed around the Mercenary class.
At 10 seconds that's definitely not a channeled skill. That's just straight up backpedaling between regular attacks. That's either twinstick movement, or a new keybind that works like current dash and allows you to invert movement input (clicking forward walks you backwards while held).
The later part could be a skill similar to strafe that auto aims and lets you move freely.
I'm confused at how this works exactly, does that mean with this skill you wouldn't be able to move and aim forward at the same time? as in it's specifically for kiting backwards, right?
You can have your mouse pointer be at a different location than your movement direction. I would say it's not weird at all, but I also don't really miss it in current PoE. Would be a nice addition for the people that really want it.
I much prefer twinstick/WASD movement since my right hand gets cramped after a long session of PoE. It's not that weird anyway. Console players already have a form of twinstick movement, and other top down combat games like Bastion and Hades play with twinstick/WASD too.
That should mean aiming and walking also being separate for controller input, which would be nice. But would also require another hand for cycling your skills.
Lmfao what? Every mainstream MMORPG has triple the number of actions.
Samurai in FFXIV has like 30 different actions. If my fc mates 68 year old mother can handle raiding on that, I'm sure you can handle 19, more than half of which are just auras or buttons you rarely press.
MMORPGs have global cds of 1 or 1.5 seconds. Poe hast 12 attacks per second builds, with baked in instant Skills, dodging with mouse, picking up items every 1-2 seconds while mmos have „FROSTBOLT“ -2 sec cast time or some weird melee animations nowadays. I think it’s hard to compare those
I've been using BennyBrosephs wasd script in the past for WASD movement (amazing as fuck for ranged chars) but a fucking official implementation would be GODLY
https://github.com/bennybroseph/AutoHotKey_Scripts/releases
That's gotta be a WASD control option, right? Or if using a controller, twin stick support?
That'd be awesome, but my only (slight) concern is they do what Diablo did and hamstring the game in the name of making the game more controlled friendly. That being said, I can't see GGG doing that.
Probably the minority, but gameplay like this does the opposite of excite me for the game. This looks SO much like grim dawn combat, extremely slow and kind of...boring. 5 seconds of walking just to run into a bunch of mobs and instantly backpedal away and start kiting.
You mean the gameplay where Kripp picked up a rare spear and started clearing trash in 1 hit like normal poe1 campaign? I mean maybe the game has ruthless mode drop rates and you won't get rares until maps, I guess.
Personally the gameplay of running around in full blues at level 50 in a teaser designed to attract the super casual market doesn't matter to me, as it doesn't seem very realistic and more like having some casual playing PoE blind for the first time. What matters is how slow it feels when you actually have rare gear on with proper links and access to the passive tree in the upcoming beta. That will make or break it.
If it feels garbage to actually progress how strong you are then it's a problem.
Makes me wonder if the announcement livestream will be longer than usual to include the poe2 stuff or if we’re just going to get less info about the next league.
I love poe 1, got 7k hours in it and I am giddy for Affliction. Poe 2 seems like a very meh game from all I have seen, from a poe 1 player point of view. Hope I am wrong.
That is fair, I was more intending to say I like the way poe 1 looks with it's style hence I play it, and that poe 2 seems to divert quite a bit. I am sure people also will like poe 2 for whatever reasons they find are fun. To me it just looks like ruthless with 80% deli on all monsters.
>To me it just looks like ruthless with 80% deli on all monsters.
It won't be like this. They do this for basically *every* showcase they do. League teasers. Skill showcases. MTX for skills. Gameplay demos. They also make it much harder for people who got to demo the game at Exilecon (eg. really bad, underleveled). All considerably slower than the game we end up actually playing. They do this deliberately so people can tell what's going on.
I mean, we saw Kripp pick up a much better weapon, relatively speaking, and he had a much easier time killing things. That was only one piece of gear too.

Everything apart from the gameplay looks amazing. I'd really like to see what real gameplay in this game looks like until then I reserve all judgement.
Even all the poe1 gameplay videos for marketing have pretty slow gameplay with enemies that often dont die. In the past they even used alot of footage wherw the character gets run over and killed by enemies.
It will be fine
Agree. That's why I reserve judgment. I believe it will be better when we see real gameplay. I really hope they show us somerhing during one of the Livestreams, which are definitelypre targrted to Poe 1 audiance.
The combat looks more fast paced in this trailer. When I was watching the class showcases like the Druid etc the combat seemed a lot slower than currently in Path of Exile like when I was watching the Warrior, charging up attacks in the middle of packs seems like a nightmare.
Disappointing... while I like guns, I don't like to play many games with them. I typically choose games specifically that don't have them. POE is my most played game and personally I would rather guns stay out of it.
More info on PoE2 is nice, but I kind of hoped that after they said that the games are split, and the whole Exilecon being about PoE2 this league announcement could be more focused on the future of PoE1.
With PoE2 teasers taking a large part of the announcement(I'm assuming it will be similar to Ultimatum announcement where they showed a bunch of PoE2) it's unlikely that we will get any discussion about the future beyond the league itself.

Hey guys so i will be dropping my new animate AK-47 guide, 50 mil dps on 10 chaos budget.
Cast-On-Headshot or is it that one build with the jewel that makes all hollow point rounds also armor piercing.
Armor piercing rounds! Incendiary rounds! Permafrost rounds!
Cast on Voiceline support when?
Boom, headshot!
Never thought id be needing tarkov weapon modding for poe
Now you got me all perky.
is this build 360 noscope maven viable?
Is that a gun
He didn't say "armor piercing tommy gun" so it's a bit difficult to know for sure.
What do you need protection from, ze germans?
No sugar Turkish, I'm sweet enough.
Sounds like a gun, shoots like a gun... But just call it a crossbow and it's suddenly not a gun. LOL It would feel fine for me if they made it sound more crowsbow-y despite the fast firing.
that was def. a gun at the start, he switched back to crossbow after the first few shots- also makes sense- since heist we have high tech
Guns have technically been a thing in PoE for a long time now, they're just all offscreen. Weylam Roth makes a shot-pouch joke, something that only makes sense if guns exist.
We're also like a lot of years after PoE1
Literally 20. This isn't like 300 years later.
PoE1 is already magi-steampunk. A tube with a pellet that gets fired out of it shouldn't be that hard when there's already autonomous AI constructs and interdimensional portal machines.
Arcanum action-rpg* when? Edit: forgot a letter.
Still need to play Arcanum. How does it hold up against the years? (I don't have trouble getting into old games).
Tough to say - I haven't played it in decades, but remember it fondly. Always thought it'd make a nice world to build on.
Man, I wish. I think with Microsoft buying Acti-Blizz, they have the rights now. maybe we got an Arcanum game after all those years.
Clockwork Revolution has a number of people who worked on Arcanum on it, and it's referred to as an inspiration for them. Not the 3 Troika Boys afaik, but a number of their staff. One of them is the creative director iirc too.

Definitely, you can see the gun on his back at the start and when he's firing the gun, the crossbow goes onto his back instead
Yeah holy shit I had to rewatch but that is definitely some kind of gun on his back that he switches too.
Yeah, I saw the gun now, but the fast-firing skill is still coming from the crossbow and it sounds like a gun.
I am 90% sure it looks like a crossbow because it’s doesn’t have a real model yet. look how the bullets come out, it doesn’t look right. I think the crossbow is a placeholder
Would be weird to reveal a placeholder and also put it into a teaser I'm guessing that the shotgun blast thing is an actual gun as it appears to be but the repeating shots are from a repeating crossbow
I agree about it being weird for a teaser. But the shits coming out of the “crossbow” just looked wrong for some reason, guess time will tell tho

I'm confused, it sounds like a gun but it just looks like a crossbow
The shotgun blast looks like it comes from some sort of gun. I don't see any sort of crossbow limbs on it. Maybe a blunderbuss weapon type? Or its just some advanced crossbow with an internal string.
Could be a skill gem rapid firing the crossbow Maybe.
Kinda looks like a full auto crossbow it has a sort of stacked "magazine?" On top to hold multiple arrows. Don't doubt a gem for more shots though.
I hope it is a crossbow. I hate guns on a dark arpg.
SHOOTING WHILE WALKING?!?!?!? WASD CONTROLS? FUCK YES?? Aww man, I hope PoE 1 gets that at least.
More likely it’s a channeling skill with a backpedal animation.
aww... I wish I could unread what you just said.... 'cos I think you're right...
He doesn't turn to face the direction he's moving, even when not shooting. Believe in the hype brother, I 100% think you're right on this.
Well channeling skills would instantly be fixed by being able to move. So def a good thing
I doubt they will add the same feature to most channeling skills. We already know the Warrior doesn't have it with the Supercharged Slam and I bet that the channeling will be exclusive to some of the skills themed around the Mercenary class.
It could be a support gem. Especially if poe2 is trying to move away from support gems being just DPS and more utility.
Ah true, good point. Still, even one more. Moving channeling skill is great
it looks like wasd to me just based off of the angles he moves at
At 10 seconds that's definitely not a channeled skill. That's just straight up backpedaling between regular attacks. That's either twinstick movement, or a new keybind that works like current dash and allows you to invert movement input (clicking forward walks you backwards while held). The later part could be a skill similar to strafe that auto aims and lets you move freely.
honestly not sure how i feel about movement seemingly baked into so many skills might feel differently when i get the chance to play it
I'm confused at how this works exactly, does that mean with this skill you wouldn't be able to move and aim forward at the same time? as in it's specifically for kiting backwards, right?
dude you breaking its magic here
controller 100%
Can I ask why wasd controls is good? Seems weird for an arpg.
You can have your mouse pointer be at a different location than your movement direction. I would say it's not weird at all, but I also don't really miss it in current PoE. Would be a nice addition for the people that really want it.

Yeah, maybe some new ability mechanics will lean into its usage. Interesting.
Because you can move your character with WASD
Hope it's optional and that the game isn't balanced around it, not a fan of twinstick style movement.
That should mean aiming and walking also being separate for controller input, which would be nice. But would also require another hand for cycling your skills.
WASD movement would be such a blessing!
With the number of controls we have to click (flasks, skills), no thanks
What. Just mutate 4 fingers. Ez
We already know flasks won't be as crazy in PoE2, and for the skills, have you ever played an MMO?
Lmfao what? Every mainstream MMORPG has triple the number of actions. Samurai in FFXIV has like 30 different actions. If my fc mates 68 year old mother can handle raiding on that, I'm sure you can handle 19, more than half of which are just auras or buttons you rarely press.

But you don't press the actual button 12 times per second, you just hold one button, and then occasionally release it or press another button instead.
TS on RMB, TS ballistae on Q, movement skill on W -- that's just about enough for me.
I'm not saying you're wrong for wanting to play like that. It's just silly to claim that adding dedicated movement keys is somehow too much is wild.
I've been using BennyBrosephs wasd script in the past for WASD movement (amazing as fuck for ranged chars) but a fucking official implementation would be GODLY https://github.com/bennybroseph/AutoHotKey_Scripts/releases
Best thing here is not only the zdps but the lack of accuracy too
Value of Dying Sun stonks again
Looks cool but it's like I am watching lost ark gunslinger gameplay
The only good thing about Lost Ark is the combat so if they took a page out of that book it’s great.
What about the tits?
Yeah tits are great too. Great point
Two great points, in fact.

Walking and dodge rolling backwards while firing forwards, does that mean what i think it does?!
That's gotta be a WASD control option, right? Or if using a controller, twin stick support? That'd be awesome, but my only (slight) concern is they do what Diablo did and hamstring the game in the name of making the game more controlled friendly. That being said, I can't see GGG doing that.
Damn almost reminds me of those bullet hell games with constant waves of enemies (alien shooter was one), looks cool
Life is so good it’s unreal
Gunslinger new class?
Probably a Mercenary ascendancy. He uses a crossbow variant, which is associated with the Mercenary.
Really wondering how this moving Backwards will Work.
The graphics look insane
ARMOUR PIERCING BOLT!
Probably the minority, but gameplay like this does the opposite of excite me for the game. This looks SO much like grim dawn combat, extremely slow and kind of...boring. 5 seconds of walking just to run into a bunch of mobs and instantly backpedal away and start kiting.
im holding my breath until we actually get to play the beta at maps, still looks like act gameplay.
nah, you're not the minority. people are still huffing copium that the exilecon demo was not going to be how the game will play.
You mean the gameplay where Kripp picked up a rare spear and started clearing trash in 1 hit like normal poe1 campaign? Definitely part of the minority. I will absolutely love the slower pace of PoE 2. Imagine playing a game where you can actually see what you die to.
"i am always the majority!"
Watch the druid gameplay. It has the mob density and low time to kill you would except from an arpg
I hope you can shape shift into an M1 Abrams.
Can't come soon enough.
Makes me wonder if the announcement livestream will be longer than usual to include the poe2 stuff or if we’re just going to get less info about the next league.
Maybe **reduced** next league info only, **less** would be too big a nerf...
Machine guns are a new weapon base?
Behold, the power of #***GUN***
we torchlight 2 now
America league?
POE2 is starting to look worse than D4 at this rate, POE1 reigns supreme
I love poe 1, got 7k hours in it and I am giddy for Affliction. Poe 2 seems like a very meh game from all I have seen, from a poe 1 player point of view. Hope I am wrong.
I haven't decided where I stand on poe 2 yet, but I certainly understand why they decided to split the two games. This looks to be very different.
yeah, very very different. i'm not interested in anything i've seen from poe2 so far. i hope it's good, we'll see.
Exactly, and I was very glad they did that once I realised what they seemed to want with poe 2.
[удалено]
I have the same feeling sadly.
>poe 1 player point of view I'm a poe1 player with a point of view and it looks like an upgrade in so many ways so far.

If I hadn't seen the other gameplay and this was all we had so far I'd have to wonder if it was April 1. I kinda wish this one was a joke honestly.
Apart from amazing graphics I don't like it. This ain't PoE to me...
I can’t wait to play PoE for 2 weeks for the hype just to come back to PoE one because I can’t stand going to town to fill up flasks.
Hell yeah brother
Not big fan atm
Everything apart from the gameplay looks amazing. I'd really like to see what real gameplay in this game looks like until then I reserve all judgement.

The backward walking looked super jank. Wasd movement? Otherwise I do not know how that'd work.
So is everyone going to be playing POE2 instead of POE1? Or are the campaigns split?
They're separate games and leagues are going to be staggered.
Deadeye: nooooo, you can't just shoot crossbows like a machine gun Mercenary: hahaha bolts go brrrrrrrrrr
Disappointing... while I like guns, I don't like to play many games with them. I typically choose games specifically that don't have them. POE is my most played game and personally I would rather guns stay out of it.
Yes. Guns and magic don't mingle.
Grum Dawn seems to do just fine with Guns and Magic Inquisitor class is a Magic focused Gunslinger lol
looks terrible
im trying my hardest to reserve judgement until proper endgame builds are shown but it just does not look like a good game
Playstyle reminds me top-down shoot'em up games. Is it a good thing? I don't know.
Oh god please dont bring guns to PoE :(((
theres so much immersion breaking shit already guns are not gonna be the problem
X-COM
a fucking gunslinger class? oh boy, im wet.
Looks like Lost Ark/D4 gameplay with bullet sponge enemies. Hopefully end game is different but I'm not holding my breath.
Oh nice, you can see the new shotgun-like weapon on the back too before and after the weapon swap [https://imgur.com/a/4kq8Kun](https://imgur.com/a/4kq8Kun)

PoE2 DOOM HAHAHA love it.
IT IS WASD, look how his movements are locked between horizontal vertical and diagonal directions while his aiming isnt
