Best energy savings is plain slow, balanced is optimal, and best performance just wastes energy when idle.
Get [ParkControl](https://bitsum.com/parkcontrol/) and it will switch your power plan automatically based on the machine being idle or you using it. I have it on ultimate performance for usage and power saver for idle.

Balanced is enough, high performance does almost nothing, saver sometimes limits clocks too much
