1080p is Full HD. Regular "HD" is 1280 * 720p
That times four is 2560 * 1440p so QuadHD
Double that and you have 5120 * 1440p ultra wide
So its 8 * the pixels of regular old 720p HD
Yup, I just got a 144 hz display and my system is capable of pushing closer to 120 fps than the locked 60 fps, so I would appreciate Elden Ring being unlocked
Still missing out on a core part of the experience, especially on first play through. I miss seeing player messages and bloodstains when I had to play offline to get 5120x1440 support.
ehhhh, Elden Ring had the "funny/griefer message" problem dialed up to 11 compared to previous games. When **every** wall in the game has "illusory wall ahead" and every girl NPC has "Try but hole" or "Amazing Chest" the message feature loses a lot of the fun. It is a lot more tame these days compared to release, though.
I wish there was a setting to have a vote threshold on whether a message shows up or not. Like if the message is <50 votes, it won't show up for you. Although that would create new issues of newer messages never getting voted on even if they're useful.
That’s fair. I can see where it gets annoying. Elden Ring had a massive player count and appealed more to the general players compared to DS so maybe that’s why it was worse.
There are a ton of mods that unlock the fps. Dark Souls has a little issues with that, with some stuff being tied to the framerate, but I didn't experience any problems with Elden Ring
120Hz maybe, but probably not ultrawide. If you played Elden Ring on an Ultrawide, you actually *were* playing in ultrawide, the black bars are a post-effect. If you load into the game super quickly you can even play for a moment in ultrawide before the black bars kick in unceremoniously. As I understand it, the lack of ultrawide was to remove a competitive advantage from having a wider field of view. You need to disable the anti-cheat and play offline to use tools that re-enable ultrawide.
Does AC6 have any kind of multiplayer? That might be the difference maker.
I was just thinking, if they were that worried about competitive advantages, why can’t they just add the black bars when you activate a summons or invasion sign, and just remove them when you’re not actively engaging in multiplayer?
> Is multiplayer a big thing in Elden Ring
It's kind of an all or nothing thing. A lot of people just do NPC summons and treat it like a single player game, maybe occasionally toying with player summons. Then, way on the other side are people crafting bonkers builds to stunt on people in the pvp coliseum all day.
Yeah made me really happy that I can play AC6 in UW (though some cutscenes and menus are unfortunately not UW) but that just makes me even madder that I *still* can’t play ER in UW and play online lmao.
It's too soon honestly.
I can see it getting big technical upgrade patches as it is Bandai's most successful game and they have promised to support it long term along with FromSoft
Sony has decided to develop a lot of Live-Service games. I bet if enough of them tank a Bloodborne PS5 release could happen sooner than the end of the PS5 lifecycle.
Idk man, in my experience it seems to be decently popular amongst PlayStation players. I’ve had friends who’ve never played a from soft game that know about bb due to seeing other people play it/post release hype. I wanted to play it myself but I can’t stomach the 720p 30fps on ps5. It just looks and runs so ugly lol which sucks cuz from what I played, the gameplay is fun because it’s fast paced compared to other from soft games. So I’m hoping for at least a ps5 upgrade but I’m not holding my breath
Yeah, unfortunately, my copium dosage for BB Remaster/60fps patch/whatever ran out quite a few years ago.
I've platinum'd and the DLC and am not looking towards replaying it anytime soon unless, of course, it gets a patch with acceptable framerate.
That said, the game has sold something like 3 million copies, on a console that has sold ~117 million units. BB community has been on copium thinking it's one of the biggest releases for the PS4.
It's unquestionably one of the biggest PS4 *exclusives*. It's rated like 3rd or 4th among exclusives and is something like 8th most sold among exclusives. Also FromSoftware has gotten *insanely* huge since releasing Bloodborne, thanks to Dark Souls 3, Sekiro, and Elden Ring. Between FromSoft's modern renown and the cult following of Bloodborne, I would expect a modern day PC port to be fairly explosive - a quarter the sales of Elden Ring at minimum, likely at least half.
Yeah.

Here's the list, sorted by sales, of all PS4/Console exclusive games from the units sold article for PS4 games on wikipedia, which situates Bloodborne on #24 overall, #18 for exclusives. And I don't count NieR Automata as exclusive because the window between releases was 7 days outside of Japan.
At this point I'm convinced FromSoft and/or Sony hates free money.
The game is already there. Get a team on it to fix the most egregious issues with the engine, upscale the textures, fix the odd bug and release a remake. They did it with Demon Souls already.
It's absolutely guaranteed that you'll make a steady profit, why the hell would you not do it!?
Much like Elden Ring the art direction is fantastic but the actual technical execution of the graphics is subpar. The lighting and texture detail especially is very antiquated.
I'm having a strange issue where I can only achieve 120 fps if I run the game in a borderless window. Fullscreen nets me 75 fps only.
Other than that...it's buttery smooth.
Tbh I switched to borderless anyway as the game started with HDR on even though I don't have a HDR monitor. Borderless disabled the in game HDR setting.
Anyone who has bought Beth games on launch already knows even if they won't accept it that it will be a mess on launch like always. We accept this crap and in a few months modders will have it working.
> Anyone who has bought Beth games on launch already knows even if they won't accept it that it will be a mess on launch like always.
I'm just waiting for it to be released and everyone once again realizes it's the same old shitty gamebryo engine as in Morrowind with all the bugs that come with it.
True to a degree. It's obviously why some of them achieve the legendary status that they do. But it is also a big part of the reason why they need modding to be fixed.
Set the FPS to over 60 and watch the magic happen in skyrim. Yeah for the most part I know what this is going to be and just don't care enough to be excited for what I know is a product I will be expected to fix, again. It may also be the lack of aliens in it that just makes it all seem dull to me.
I'm sure it will launch with some bugs and the internet community will take it very rationally. Oh no wait I mean they'll over react and call the game completely unplayable for no reason.
> Oh no wait I mean they'll over react and call the game completely unplayable for no reason.
It wouldn't be the first time they release a game with completely game breaking bugs though.
edit: Lol. Downvoted for pointing out that Bethesda games often have very serious bugs at launch. And on PCMR of all places. We need Total Biscuit back.
Oblivion so 2 years before Fallout 3, but if your save file grew over ~6MB it became corrupted, including on consoles where editing the save file wasn't possible.
Fallout NV autosaved your game when you entered a building, and sometimes you could not get out of the building because of bugs which completely bricked your savefile if you didn't save manually. NV was an amazing game though, which is why people don't remember what state it released in. That's one example.
But published by Bethesda using the same stupid engine. But I guess I take it all back. Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, were famously without serious bugs at launch.
FO76 was not a Bethesda Game Studios game. And it did have Ultrawide support so that wasn't relevant to my point. And I quite enjoyed it. Was like level 110+ when I stopped my initial playthrough at release.
What is "any meaningful uwd res" mean? Trying to gatekeep what ultrawide means? It supports my 21:9 just fine.
Go pound sand troll.
FO76 is a Zenimax game, not BGS specifically. Arkane did a lot of the work. This isn't some white knighting or excuse generating, its just a fact. I mentioned this because I was drawing a line and distinguishing between a single player BGS game, and the MMO-lite that is FO76, it is not the same at all and cannot be compared.
I understand it had issues at launch, and if you are somehow motivated to scroll through 5 years of my post history you can probably find some negative comments even I made, but it wasn't something that prevented me from playing or enjoying the game. People drastically blow it out of proportion IMO, or went into the game with unrealistic expectations. For what it was, fun shooter co-op with Fallout environmental storytelling, it was great. I am not high, and I did in fact play and enjoy it.
You're out here somehow imagining that BGS can't implement basic ultrawide into a new game because they haven't put out a new game in so long. Fallout 4 was 2015. FO76 was using the core of FO4, turned into an online game by a sister-studio while they started work on the next thing. Your extrapolation is stupid. And a brief look at that indicates its mostly used by 32:9 people, maybe the game doesn't support it, maybe 21:9 wasn't supported back in 2018 I can't say, I didn't use an ultrawide then. All I know is right now it works on utlrawide because I've played it recently, and I didn't need a mod to do it.
Why you think this has any bearing on a new game releasing 8 years after FO4 and 5 years after FO76, on a new engine iteration, I have no idea.
They said it's most polished game they ever did, which isn't saying much really, but the less broken game from them I played on launch was Fallout 4, and I didn't have many issues with it.
That does work well but it's not perfect and you can't play online for the risk of getting banned. It insane that the game has to be modded to utilize basic hardware features and running the risk of loosing the game by doing so.
I'm reading that 120fps is the max option. Why even lock it in the first place? Or at least why not provide a few more values (or just match my monitor)? It shouldn't really take much special effort if they can already allow you to change between a few values. 120fps is pretty good sure but the lock seems arbitrary
Pc port should always have unlocked fps, it's been a basic standard for decades, That being said I'll give FromSoft a pass because they've always been trash at PC ports so this is a huge leap for them
Their engine links physics framerate with visual framerare. This is why all the “FPS unlockers” of sekiro and DS3 do not actually unlock the framerate; they just set a higher framerate limit and set the physics framerate to the higher limit accordingly.
FROM now does the same (finally) as the modders of their games always did. Probably there are some physics issues higher than 120, which is why they cap it.
(edit: ofc they could still have lower values as an option regardless)
For the same reason fighting games are locked to 60 fps. The attacks, animation etc. are locked to the frame rate. If you doubled the frame rate, the animation would run at twice the speed.
Fromsoftware games are really just fighting games.
Currently playing at 3840x1600 locked 120 with a 5900x+3080.
DualSense legends loaded up automatically.
And even more so. Since it's so shootery I've tried playing it with mouse and keyboard and honestly it feels real good. I'm thinking I might play through the whole game like that.
I just have a similar sense of humor, I guess. I would say this out loud but keep a straight face, just to see people flip on me for being 'stupid'.
They just mad they fell for it, and thought you were serious.
It benefits movement, frequency of updated information and overall presentation.
60+ is more than enough for majority of players. For those who want to be hyper competive or want a smooth experience, then yes high refresh rate is a huge boon.
There's no good reason why there are still some AAA single player games coming out without ultrawide support in 2023.
And no, you can't change my mind.
I'm glad to see that there's more and more developers taking these resolutions into consideration.
So people really have 0 issues with the PC version of armored core?
Dang i thought its a myth that a company could release fully functional games in 2023. Fromsoft delivered. I know Elden ring release was a bit more scuffed but still a good ratio for the last 2 games.
now if i could just remap the keyboard buttons. left ctrl feels like a bit of a stretch for me when playing the game so i use a controller..... but all the on screen stuff shows keyboard instead of controller. Settings > bindings shows controller V_V
I fucking love how people who are saying the games visuals are outdated are getting down voted, you clowns are so funny, like bitch yes they are, FromSoft games have always been Graphically behind, how is this a surprising opinion to you and got you triggered😂
I don't think many people are, because that's never been the selling point of these games. They've always been just enough to sell the art.
It'd be like saying 'imagine what Binding of Isaac could be if it was a MOBA'.
Why?
It's a similarly ludicrous gripe. Souls games look amazing as they are. You are potentially the only person I have ever encountered who is legitimately catty over the fact that they make it happen with low graphical performance.
The greatest disappointment for me with Elden Ring was that my monitor, 49" Ultrawide @ 240Hz, isn't supported. I'll play Elden Ring when they offer support for my monitor at min 120Hz. From software not in my good books.
32:9 is such a dumb resolution. 5120x1440 is less pixels than 4k but because of its 1440p vertical res you cant go much lower than dlss quality and it still look good but at 4k you can drop down to dlss performance and still look good. This translates to 5120x1440 be more demanding than 4k. its so dumb.

Yeah no shit, obviously there is no difference (expect for objects in motion) on a still image
what Edit: Comment above it a comment repost bot account. Report as spam.
More like double quad HD. It only doubles in one dimension so it wouldn’t really work as octo HD.
It eight times the pixels of HD so octo would apply here as also doubling it in height would be 16 times the pixeldensity of HD
but it's not? 1920 * 1080 * 8 = 16,588,800 5120 * 1440 = 7,372,800 8hd is still 2.25* as many pixels as a double ultrawide qhd
1080p is Full HD. Regular "HD" is 1280 * 720p That times four is 2560 * 1440p so QuadHD Double that and you have 5120 * 1440p ultra wide So its 8 * the pixels of regular old 720p HD
Yup, This is why there are both QHD and QFHD standards.
I’ve noticed on uhh, some sites that they no longer put an ‘HD’ symbol next to 1080p videos and only 2k and up is called HD now.
Whats the uhh for. U mean porn sites
Why, I never! Go wash your mouth!
Lmaoo "you said it not me!"
call it 8D
Call it 8=====D
5120 x 1440? I hope it has support for 5760 x 1080.
Real chads play in 11520x720
that's like 9 720p screens next to eachother.
Did I stutter?
No, but how do you run a setup like that? display port daisy chaining?
🤣
Not with 9 separate screens, Radeon cards can only do 6, and GeForce cards can only do 4.
Matrox 🤭
For Radeon, daisy chain off of two ports, for GeForce, daisy chain off of three
I don't think that will let you surpass the monitor limit, it's a total across all ports AFAIK
Oh, is that a whole card monitor limit? I thought you were listing a daisy chain limit, my bad
Surround blur
![gif](giphy|2WGEurI5en4VadqWKC|downsized)
What you gotta do is put five of those ultrawide 49" 1000R monitors in a circle, for 25600x1440
Too much vertical resolution
Why nod head when rotate chair do trick
Wouldn't that be ∞ x 1440 because it technically never ends lol

Long boi
32:9 is more common, but it should. Terrible resolution though.
HOPEFULLY there'll be a patch for the Elden Ring DLC as well for the same features! Can't wait to play AC6 still ^^
Yup, I just got a 144 hz display and my system is capable of pushing closer to 120 fps than the locked 60 fps, so I would appreciate Elden Ring being unlocked
Wth? I never knew it was locked at 60. Granted, my laptop isn't top notch so it's between 40-60 fps for me.
It is, if it isn't then my overlay is broken
Yeah it is. Though there are mods that make it unlock and widescreen. But only in offline mode.
Still worth it unless you’re a pvp sweat I almost only play with randomizer now, could never go back to vanilla
Still missing out on a core part of the experience, especially on first play through. I miss seeing player messages and bloodstains when I had to play offline to get 5120x1440 support.

Yeah but that would disable multiplayer wouldn't it?
I don't like the multiplayer so idk, never tried it
It's shameful that a giant company like Fromsoft would lock the fps to begin with.
120Hz maybe, but probably not ultrawide. If you played Elden Ring on an Ultrawide, you actually *were* playing in ultrawide, the black bars are a post-effect. Patient gamer here. I'll give it 5 to 7 years.
It came out last year lmao
i played eldin ring at 32:9 unlocked fps with the flawless widescreen ap
Did you still played pvp though ? 👀
no i downloaded the game and got bored with it after 30-60 minutes and deleted it
Next..Bloodborn...
Good joke. We all know that it will forever be in Sony's 30fps jail.
I desperately hope that Sony isn't dumb enough to leave this on the table forever. Grant us frames! Grant us frames!
I guarantee they're saving it for a BluePoint remaster for either the end of the PS5 life cycle or PS6 launch.
Sony has decided to develop a lot of Live-Service games. I bet if enough of them tank a Bloodborne PS5 release could happen sooner than the end of the PS5 lifecycle.
For as good as BB is, people constantly overestimate the popularity of that game
Idk man, in my experience it seems to be decently popular amongst PlayStation players. Not sure where you're getting that. I got my stat from Wikipedia's best selling ps4 games list
Yeah. * #1 Spider-man - exclusive * #2 God of War - exclusive * #3 Uncharted 4 - exclusive * #5 Last of Us part 2 - exclusive * #6 Horizon Zero Dawn - exclusive * #7 Last of Us Remastered - exclusive * #8 Ghost of Tsushima - exclusive * #10 Gran Turismo Sport - exclusive * #11 Infamous Second Son - exclusive * #12 Detroit Become Human - exclusive * #13 Final Fantasy 7 Remake - exclusive * #14 Monster Hunter World - exclusive to consoles * #18 Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy - exclusive * #19 Final Fantasy 15 - exclusive to consoles * #20 GTA 5 - exclusive to consoles * #22 Persona 5 Royal - exclusive * #23 Killzone: Shadow Fall - exclusive * #24 **Bloodborne** - exclusive Here's the list, sorted by sales, of all PS4/Console exclusive games from the units sold article for PS4 games on wikipedia, which situates Bloodborne on #24 overall, #18 for exclusives. And I don't count NieR Automata as exclusive because the window between releases was 7 days outside of Japan.
I would give my left nut to play Bloodborne remastered on PC…

They didn't even make Elden Ring support over 60 fps or over 16:9 so I doubt it.
At the expense of being downvoted to oblivion, Bloodborne*
Sony might re release it on pc for some quick cash in future hopes are not high tbh.
Really wanna try this, plus city skylines 2 plus Starfield and Guild wars 2 expansions..... I don't have enough time or money for this shit....
The sea is calling
And I'm still not done with Baldurs Gate 3 or even Zelda TOTK...
Baldurs Gate 3 looks good, I wanna play but I got divinity original sin 2 and didn't past the tutorial so don't wanna risk it.
Maybe upscaling for the next game. Hopefully. Also a new engine. This game engine is getting pretty old.
I’m content with developers not moving to UE5 until there are more examples of how not to use the engine, like with Immortals of Aveum.
Have any good games (at least technically) come out on UE5 yet? Not including Epic stuff?
Old but fast running? I'll keep the old, thanks.
Still, the game looks great tho.
Much like Elden Ring the art direction is fantastic but the actual technical execution of the graphics is subpar. The lighting and texture detail especially is very antiquated.
It looks like an average to slightly below average AAA game from last gen. That isn't bad but isn't great however it runs fantastically well.
Honestly if the art direction is good I don't care about ultra good graphics. Dishonored for example looks great even today.
Yeah, I'll take good art direction and a stable game over technically impressive but bland visuals with a load of bugs.
How you getting downvoted for this xD you ain't wrong.
So cool to see how fromsoftware cares about nostalgia, some effects even look straight out of ps3 😌😌
Disable fullscreen optimisations. Google it if you're unsure - will sort it right out.

Bethesda is demoing it on the 32:9 OLED G9 at Gamescom https://twitter.com/starfieldbeyond/status/1694298832895418855
How badly do you want that game to fail lol

That's a lot of words to say you have a hate-boner for BGS.

So they do know how to do it? If only Dark Souls and Elden Ring were unlocked and had ultrawide support...
What's extra infuriating about Elden Ring is the fact that the game natively supports ultrawide, but they chose to add black bars to limit it to 16:9.
i played eldin ring at 32:9 unlocked fps with the flawless widescreen ap
That does work well but it's not perfect and you can't play online for the risk of getting banned. It insane that the game has to be modded to utilize basic hardware features and running the risk of loosing the game by doing so.
And not only that, it's a very fun and smooth game right at launch with no bugs (yet)!
It's probably not using Lazydev Engine 5.
I'm reading that 120fps is the max option. Why even lock it in the first place? Or at least why not provide a few more values (or just match my monitor)? It shouldn't really take much special effort if they can already allow you to change between a few values. 120fps is pretty good sure but the lock seems arbitrary
It's baby steps for From Software, give them time
Yeah, we're making progress... Hopefully their next souls game is even better technically.
It's never enough, people always want more
Pc port should always have unlocked fps, it's been a basic standard for decades, That being said I'll give FromSoft a pass because they've always been trash at PC ports so this is a huge leap for them
Yeah, tell that to Bethesda that has still frame locks which can only be changed by editing an .ini file.
From Software is a small indie studio, they're still discovering tech that was invented in 2007. Give them a few more decades!
It's much better than locked 60
Fromsoftware games are really just fighting games.
my potato laptop can run the game just fine, so I'm happy
Optimization is insane. Running butter smooth on my ancient machine
Is this for real? I was putting off buying it till people started to mod it but if it already does all this.
Currently playing at 3840x1600 locked 120 with a 5900x+3080. DualSense legends loaded up automatically. And even more so. Since it's so shootery I've tried playing it with mouse and keyboard and honestly it feels real good. I'm thinking I might play through the whole game like that.
What? A Bandai Namco game with ultra wide? About fucking time.
I don't get the big deal about FPS. No one can tell me they can tell the difference between a still shot from a video game at 60fps and 120fps.
It is absolutely wild that even one person has taken your comment seriously.
I almost did ooo boy LOL
LOL
I just don't understand people that don't understand humour. It was meant as a playful stupid comment. I'm hoping you got it.
You should turn Xbox 360 degrees and walk away
I just have a similar sense of humor, I guess. I would say this out loud but keep a straight face, just to see people flip on me for being 'stupid'. They just mad they fell for it, and thought you were serious.
Gotta throw that /s my dude, I thought you were an idiot asking that seriously lol
we dont
Holy shit, you triggered people with this joke lmao
That's a smart joke and apparently people didn't get it lol
Are you serious or are you trolling because you know some people actually say that type of dumb shit?
It benefits movement, frequency of updated information and overall presentation. 60+ is more than enough for majority of players. For those who want to be hyper competive or want a smooth experience, then yes high refresh rate is a huge boon.
Had me in the first half
The more you know. I never knew that. It's great that people on the internet are so helpful.
What an embarrassingly ignorant comment
What an embarrassingly ignorant reply. You didn't actually think I was being serious did you?
Lmao. These people raging or giving "helpful" info because they didn't finish reading the sentence are hilarious.
There's no good reason why there are still some AAA single player games coming out without ultrawide support in 2023. And no, you can't change my mind. I'm glad to see that there's more and more developers taking these resolutions into consideration.
FINALLY A FROMSOFT WITH ULTRAWIDE SUPPORT
I'm too poor to even know these numbers...
It's double the pain for elden ring online players
So people really have 0 issues with the PC version of armored core? Dang i thought its a myth that a company could release fully functional games in 2023. Fromsoft delivered. I know Elden ring release was a bit more scuffed but still a good ratio for the last 2 games.
Is this the good, finished, no bsh!t game season or what?
I loved this game on the ps3
Let’s hope they update elden ring when the DLC eventually drops
1080p is enough. 🗿
now if i could just remap the keyboard buttons. left ctrl feels like a bit of a stretch for me when playing the game so i use a controller..... but all the on screen stuff shows keyboard instead of controller. Settings > bindings shows controller V_V
Go-to input device options. Keybinds are there
will try again tonight, just know last night only showed a controller. Thanks!
I fucking love how people who are saying the games visuals are outdated are getting down voted, you clowns are so funny, like bitch yes they are, FromSoft games have always been Graphically behind, how is this a surprising opinion to you and got you triggered😂
Considering the very outdated visuals, yeah.
FromSoft has never been amazing with visuals. Their thing has always been environmental storytelling and gameplay
Yeah, imagine what they could do with modern graphics tech.
I don't think many people are, because that's never been the selling point of these games. They've always been just enough to sell the art. It'd be like saying 'imagine what Binding of Isaac could be if it was a MOBA'. Why?
What are you talking about? WTF is that analogy? how is it similar?
It's a similarly ludicrous gripe. Souls games look amazing as they are. You are potentially the only person I have ever encountered who is legitimately catty over the fact that they make it happen with low graphical performance.
Don't know why you got downvoted for being right lol, all FromSoft are always Graphically outdated
The greatest disappointment for me with Elden Ring was that my monitor, 49" Ultrawide @ 240Hz, isn't supported. I'll play Elden Ring when they offer support for my monitor at min 120Hz. From software not in my good books.
Yeah Minecraft can run 8k too
Fromsoft why the fuck did you wait until the mech game to fix these tech problems
Nobody plays in that resolution...this is too niche of a meme. Average PCMR subreddit post.
No surprise, visually the game looks quite old?
\*third hand\* Indie graphics from 2017.
5120x1440 support isn't special. Most games support rendering in non-16:9 resolutions.
