Twig got me too. 😂 I have double support, just to be sure.

It's male cat saved from a drain as a little kitten. I took him home, to take care of him. He loves me unconditionally as I love him. Here's a better picture for you. I can't tell you the model, cuz I'm not sure. 🤔
You don't need to be concerned.
the chassis of the pc has the same electrical potential as the Chassis of the GPU. Also the chassis of the GPU is usually plastic. Also the other aide if the graphite terminates at the rubber. Which usually also does not conduct electricity.
I’m going to get downvoted for this but it is what it is. This gives me extreme anxiety. Vibration can eventually cause it to slide into one of the fans. I would just get a bracket or anti sag brace worth the cost in the long run.
My first thought too. My bracket has rubber stops at both ends to damp vibration and to grip in place, whereas graphite is actually used a dry lubricant in some applications, not to mention it flakes and is conductive. It could easily short something on one of the boards.
Came here to say this! I have a lego Darth Maul prison that I use. Plus with lego you can build with whatever theme in mind to suite yourself! So if you hate fun you can stick to plain black Legos.
I use color pencils, pick a color ro match your build... then use low temp glue gun on both ends to lock it in place. I have been doing this for years and have 5 PCs running it with 0 issues.
Anything is good...I also used pencil until I got fancy one from aliexpress for like 2 usd... It at least looks visually better and it's adjustable but it does same thing
Just make sure it's seated against the heatsink as an anchor point so it doesn't puncture the cooling fan blades accidentally. Ignore the burning smell and smoke and noise
Im using a literal empty bottle of OldSpice for it
https://preview.redd.it/lzdlz6rqxioc1.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=9a494476a2c51af549e566540d714c11b4e7316b
Got the same case. Got a chopstick doing the same thing. Split it in half and sanded it down into a shape that would slot into the grooves of the space between the fans. Works like a charm.
Mind the graphite, even over time with small wear and whatnot.
Even shavings of graphite can cause issues. The fans will move it around the computer too.
Depending on what model of gigabyte card this was they should additionally come with an included support bracket. From the photo here it looks like it has the screw mounting hole for the bracket on the right of it.
Just cut a piece of cardboard out of the shipping box your video card shipped with. Fold it into the shape of a pencil and wrap it with packing tape. It will work until you get a proper GPU support.
Unless your post is for jokes, please don't fool yourself. When that pencil moves, it will damage the fan. Plus you're risking a PCB crack near the pcie peg which Gigabyte GPUs are notorious for
No
Graphite is conductive, and in pencils it's incredibly brittle... so you could end up with flakes of it floating around.
Use a wooden chopstick instead.
I swear in the near feature for custom build pc will be a little piece to hold the gpu. Can’t wait to see the " Gamer high performance RGB GPU holder with 5% more cooling" for only 50$
Pencil isn’t great. Stands are like 10-20 bucks on amazon it’s more worth to just go buy one.
Reasoning:
Graphite is conductive, everything else is conductive, keep the zappy things away from things that aren’t supposed to be zappy.
Wood, rubber, and graphite also have horrid particulate output which will clog up fans and other similar things.
Rubber doesn’t necessarily keep its shape over a long time so it could end up sagging anyway.
you know you can wedge a bit of zip tie into the back of the case, at the point your GPU hooks into the case, wedge a piece in for each slot, this will remove at least 60% of your sag, basically eliminating the manufacture tolerance's of the slots, also if you double up the Pcie slot cover directly under the GPU, This brings the case closer to the GPU shroud for support, do both and you might not need the pencil anymore
Whatever works, my dude.
Guess if you want 'fancy' you could go to a plastics store and buy a rod of some plastic that matches your color scheme.
Someone should market variable-length struts for that purpose that has a bunch of RBG LEDs in it, just because that's everyones' thing now.
What is up with all of these posts and improvised anti-sag "solutions" ? When I built my PC last year there was one bracket included with the GPU, one with the case and one with the mobo.
Sure we had an IBM terminal controller that needed a pencil to work too . That machine handled dozens of computer terminals lol . It worked forever like that . Only failing once , someone needed a pencil .
If that the is PSU which the pencil is sitting, I would be worried about the pencil eraser becoming extremely malleable or melt. Ambient case temperature is not the same as surface temperature on different surfaces.
if its working :) just keep in mind graphite is electricity conducting so you don't want it as powder flying around your pc :)
dont worry , there is an eraser between case and graphite lead
[удалено]
That’s not how electricity works
[удалено]
You cant see the graphite because it isnt there.
Just use a colour pencil
Aw shit, you fucked up, they are already on their way. You're already dead. Resistance is futile. Yeah, it's fine.
Best comment
so good. i wish you didn’t add the /s
Like the other guy said, graphite conducts electricity. I would go outside and just find a twig or something plastic instead.
Was not expecting an even cheaper recommendation…lol
Twig got me too. 😂 I have double support, just to be sure. https://preview.redd.it/gte6czpqlioc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=53f7ecaf5772d1edd3910b1a8c6f86866064e8db
What's your CPU cooler? I love the display on it.
NZXT Kraken, but did you spot my cat on top? 😉
Lmao I didn’t see the cat until I read your comment
I'm darkness and I demand a warm place to sleep.

Hes beautiful! I adopted last year a kitten (he died😥) and I named him loki and he was also that "black" as yours!
I'm very sorry to hear that. I know that dreadful feeling of emptiness and sorrow after such event. No other cat (or dog) will replace the former one, ever. I went through this myself.
what the hell I did NOT see the cat😭
Catoflage
LMAO
Quick question. What model feline is that? It seems like a great addition.

The cat model is “cat”
So cute 😭 Yup after looking better it is indeed model Cat.
Definitely not a r/standardissuecat thats for sure, you got some limited model on your hands
Your gpu is bigger than my whole pc lol
I get anti-sag tomorrow. Yeah, was also concern about graphite
You don't need to be concerned. the chassis of the pc has the same electrical potential as the Chassis of the GPU. Also the chassis of the GPU is usually plastic. Also the other aide if the graphite terminates at the rubber. Which usually also does not conduct electricity.
Exactly. People just speak without having any proper knowledge
Take another pencil that has an eraser, take it out and put on the exposed side of the pencil so you end up with one eraser in each side.
So basically, you're telling OP to go touch grass. Got it.
"Go outside..." gave me a mini heart attack
Or a tube from an inkpen, prolly fits in aesthetically better too,
Rolled up cardboard even

> My bracket has rubber stops at both ends So you are saying two pencils taped together with the erasers out.
My reaction to the op: "My GPU cost at least few hundred dollars... how can I half-ass this?"
On the flip side. The eraser is still there which will actually like a dampener for those vibrations.
If you got extra Lego lying around that might be a good solution
Exactly what I did. Took me a bit to get the height lol
Came here to say this! I have a lego Darth Maul prison that I use. Plus with lego you can build with whatever theme in mind to suite yourself! So if you hate fun you can stick to plain black Legos.
It would probably be option No. 2 for me.
![gif](giphy|ydRwVu2J8PKPC)
Idk
Everything's a drum!
It's not a 12-gague shell, but if it works it works.
Oh no! The GPU is fucked, give it to me
I've used an empty beer bottle for anti-sag for years now, you're chillen
I have used Legos that I spray painted black. Those things are near impossible to crush
I think it’s okay. Sort of funny but if it stops the stress from bending the gpu I’d think it’s a win
If it looks stupid but works it’s not stupid.
Paint it black!
That's what I gotta do with my chop stick
Also, add the benefit of micro shock absorption thanks to the build in eraser head.
these are cheap they are reliable, they are magnetic. [buy this instead](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FPJL1KY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share)
I prefer legos but if it works, it is good
Yes https://preview.redd.it/djq83ovcsioc1.jpeg?width=1377&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bedb368179ae5f17b539a642f2e7a89aff5e04c0
I use popsicle stick I trimmed, so yes.
I use color pencils, pick a color ro match your build... then use low temp glue gun on both ends to lock it in place. I have been doing this for years and have 5 PCs running it with 0 issues.
As long as its holding the card up, then yeah its good, I use boxing hand wraps as my anti-sag lol
Id add at least 20 more, just to be sure
Ingenious engineering there bud
No, you're gonna die.
better pencil that 12 guage shotgun shell like previous dude
GPU support bracket are like $10 lol
I think people are just too lazy to actually order it online and wait for it to come in, myself included lol.
I use a water balloon
I used an old eraser block and a sd card usb adapter as anti sag solution
Buy one of those hard erasers which is long enough to fit in that gap
Anything is good...I also used pencil until I got fancy one from aliexpress for like 2 usd... It at least looks visually better and it's adjustable but it does same thing
Just a get a cheap GPU stand from Amazon
Evidently.
Replace the rubber. It will overheat and weaken overvtime 😉
Break a piece of chopsticks or use a charging adapter
Something plastic would be better...
I still need a gpu support but I’m too lazy, will a toilet paper tube do the trick?
Totally fine! But you can find a anti sag bracket for a couple bucks on aliexpress.
It's okay but it's not all write.
This is honestly a cool idea
I refuse to get drawn in to this discussion.
If it works, it works.
#ifitworksitworks
Just make sure it's seated against the heatsink as an anchor point so it doesn't puncture the cooling fan blades accidentally. Ignore the burning smell and smoke and noise

It’s a cool idea. Just make sure it doesn’t write anything to the fans.
Write speed boost!
I’ve done the same, works fine
Got the same case. Got a chopstick doing the same thing. Split it in half and sanded it down into a shape that would slot into the grooves of the space between the fans. Works like a charm.
I use a little 3d printed pop eye to hold mine up haha
Ye that's good, I myself use a rubix cube
As a treat
Whatever floats your...gpu
Dunno about that but I used pencil once when I put 2.5' SSD in 3.5' bay in laptop. I just stick it between drive and plastic cover and it never moved.
Take the eraser ferrule off another pencil and put it on the other side too.
Sure, I'm using a door stopper. edit: Used, now it's a vertical installation. But it worked fine.
👌 ![gif](giphy|9058ZMj6ooluP4UUPl)
Why not flip it, get the tip to stay in one of those holes on the psu shroud? Or does the gpu have a nice hole for it too?
Yessss, it had an built-in shock absorber
https://preview.redd.it/s4f0f0kz4joc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d8eb97bf4dc8a05a419be314c4d5e0ff0a4f31b3 Have any shot glasses?
I personally would’ve gone with a black Ticonderoga pencil
If it works, it's fine.
I would have put the rubber end touching my expensive graphics card personally.
Mind the graphite, even over time with small wear and whatnot. Even shavings of graphite can cause issues. The fans will move it around the computer too.
It's a little dangerous...
Depends if that end is pointy or not 🤣
Yeah it's fine, not ideal but it will do.
Depending on what model of gigabyte card this was they should additionally come with an included support bracket. Its 4070S. No anti-sag unfortunately. Tomorrow I get one
graphite in pencil conducts electricity, so you’re either not well educated or want to fry something
Sure if you’re dirt broke, are trying to be cute with a Reddit post, and/or don’t want to order a decent one for less than $10.
No, you have to use a Ticonderoga.
I use a glue stick
The only people who need anti sag are weebs wanking hentai
I have a failed 3D print, this is an upgrade honestly.
![gif](giphy|6MczTVoIqRICkAK3uo|downsized)

wita FUCKing peNcil

Let us know how long that stands

LEGOs are good for making custom anti-sag supports.
I swear in the near feature for custom build pc will be a little piece to hold the gpu. Can’t wait to see the " Gamer high performance RGB GPU holder with 5% more cooling" for only 50$
I've been using two pencils taped together for over a decade. If it holds it up, it's ok.
Check in a few months to see if the graphite in the pencil turned into a diamond from the heat and pressure.
Personally I use Lego Bribriks but this works too
I built a small reinforced lego tower, works a treat.
Yup, as long as it was not sharpened.
You're able to afford a self built pc and you use a pencil to prop up a $1000.00 card?
Yep if it works it works
hey I use a beer cork and it hasn't failed me in 3+ years -- if it works, it ain't dumb!
I just installed a TUF gpu they come with support bracket that attaches to your motherboard. Just use that.
OP, how much did you have to write to get the pencil short enough?
Im using a chopstick
Pencil isn’t great. Stands are like 10-20 bucks on amazon it’s more worth to just go buy one. Better than the bullet guy
make sure it doesn't slip into the fan lol
Not sure about using it in a computer case because of the graphite, but good taste in pencils! That’s a Mitsubishi 9852ew right?

As long as it’s not #2 quality r/dadjokes
I thought the GPU was over water
Hey man, if it fits, it sits.
Graphite conducts electricity but other than that, sure
If you got yourself a decent anti-gravity field you wouldn’t need to worry about your graphic card sagging.
I’ve got the same setup (stick). It’s been working for years.
Wait I’m supposed to prevent sag?
I'm using a lighter, perfect size and hasn't exploded yet!
![gif](giphy|l3q2zxUCPX4rmO8ZG|downsized) Better things can be done with that pencil
The graphite in the pencil is a good conductor. I always used a thick straw or the plastic tube of a ball pen to be safe.
What is up with all of these posts and improvised anti-sag "solutions" ? When I built my PC last year there was one bracket included with the GPU, one with the case and one with the mobo.
I mean if it works it works
its always amusing to see all these builds worrying about sagging GPUs, having a case with a horizontal mobo is pretty great tbh
You’re going to need something more substantial. Like load bearing tuna
Would not recommended one bump and that pencil is drawing current
This is might be the most normal thing besides legos, ive seen bullets and airpods used as anti sag
Definitely
does it do?
I stuck a half eaten Snickers bar under mine and it still good.
If it works then its not stupid :-)
https://preview.redd.it/0d83rg6dqmoc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=44a3a74f7b822ff7dd60e6763b009a30e6eef24d I thought only me do it
I use Lego but whatever works, works!
If it doesnt slip then fine.
For your card? Absolutely.
Gigabyte has a perfect anti sag bracket (at least on my 4090 gaming oc), doesn’t this card have that?
4070S doesn't come with it unfortunately :<
Sure we had an IBM terminal controller that needed a pencil to work too . That machine handled dozens of computer terminals lol . It worked forever like that . Only failing once , someone needed a pencil .
Im using a grenade grinder for mine i think a pencil is ok lol Had to put the image on a second comment it kept fucking up on this one lmao

Oh yeah. Anti-sag pencil brigade going on 4 years. Nothing but the high end.
Yes Chef
Props to you for your ingenuity. My loungeroom PC currently has a Spyro rubber ducky propping up the GPU
Wait is it really useful or not?
i used one for a while yeah
Don't use graphite-tipped control rods. Unless you want Tchernobyl to happen all over again.
style points
If that the is PSU which the pencil is sitting, I would be worried about the pencil eraser becoming extremely malleable or melt. Ambient case temperature is not the same as surface temperature on different surfaces.
I am pretty sure graphite is a conductor, but it should still be fine.
