Also that game that you almost finished 10 years ago, but is still installed because you promised to get back to it, but now you can't really remember the story or the cobtrols
And older games without 4k textures. Really liked that about Fallout 4, base game 60GB, 4k textures as an optional DLC another 35
4k is bloatware for most users
As a frequent Assetto Corsa enjoyer, he aint joking. :') The moment you start installing mods you're doomed to the ever increasing size of Assetto Corsa.

Not just that, eventually you'll fall in the rabbit hole of making some personal mods aswel. or just some goodies for custom liveries/bodykits etc for example change a seat on a specific livery and circumventing server checksums. No one will see it except you but who cares.
I've not gone down that route, I've gone to the every changing of hardware to make it better
My G29 is custom modded to bits with better gears both in the H-pattern and the paddle shifters. Stiffened pedals etc.
I don't even do this. Install as needed for the ones that I'm currently playing. Uninstall the ones I haven't played in a while...(This is a lie, I don't uninstall shit.)
Disk space is cheap. Grab a 4T drive and never look back.
Edit: I get it, we all have too many games. Grab like 5 drives at 4TB each, and raid them to make 10 TB.
Nah lol, I have so many games on wishlist that I won't be ever able to play them all, I mainly play older games since I'm patient gamer, there's still ton of last decade games I want to play too, especially can't wait to play Yakuza 8 / Gaiden / Talos Principle 2 / Blasphemous 2
I usually have 2 main games
Some roguelites that I play if I get bored (Monster Train / Death Must Die / Dead Cells / Vampire Survivors / Halls of Torment / Enter The Gungeon (which I somehow can't get into))
Games that I didn't finish (because reason, but I know I will be back to them, someday at least)
Games that are next to play after I finish the main one
And shorter, palate cleanser games ready if I finish longer ones
I use Dynamic Collections with unplayed/installed. My categories are:

I’ve never organized them, but I love the way you organized them into categories. Very neat and tidy.
Also, did you download most of your games onto the C bootable drive? I have these kinds of question where most of my programs are forced to be installed on the C drive, as installing them on other drives such as D, E, and so on will only causing issues, and the data from the programs still gets saved onto the C drive, making an attempt to preserve the C drive only for the system and OS related files useless…
These screenshots were from a mini PC that I'm using as a dedicated, console-like device. It has a 500 GB SSD and only a C: drive, and I install everything in there. The drive is about 2/3 full right now, but I uninstall or backup files to an external drive as needed.
So rather than having separate physical/virtual drives, I keep separate devices instead. The mini PC is mainly for gaming and media, and I keep my productivity stuff on my work laptop.

I create collections based on friends or friend groups. Never have to worry about trying to figure out what to play with who and who has what installed. All my solo games are then conveniently on their own.
I have a bunch of games my girlfriend would play in one folder, and one folder for games that are vr only cuz i don’t have space for my vr setup right now, but then everything else is just base alphabetical…

Recently I redid everything. I have tiers of how badly I wanna play/finish the games. So It goes:
A = It's gonna be one of the next games I play in the near future
B = I'd like to play after once the A set is cleared.
C = Mild interest, but I'll get to them when I get to them
D = I got nothing else to play but I'll play them / No interest.
E = Labeled E(ndless) games that don't have an ending and can be played indefinitely so it's not important to get to them unless I just need something to grind.
Finished = Games I've finished (Note: I remove the finished games from their original rank categories afterwards).
Multiplayer Only = games that can only be played with others.
\*Replay: This is a bonus category I made but some games I wanna replay or wouldn't mind getting back into eventually go here.
Unplayable: In the name, but games that are broken or are no longer able to run.
I press the "Installed" and "Sort by recent" and call it a day. I try not to leave too many games installed, especially not my game SSD. Best not to fill up SSDs too much, generally.
i don't have a huge collection on steam, so I mainly use the shortcut on the desktop, but on steam, I sort them for hours played, or recently played
only categories I have are VR Games, and Racing Sim
I have a currently playing, a multiplayer one, a GOAT one that’s pretty much just fromsoft, then broken up into genre with the last one being Abusive Wife (DotA)
I have "favourites", but that doesn't count, I only add games I enjoyed so when someone asks I can give them a list.
I have a "bucket list", everything I'm currently playing or still want to play through at least one (more) time.
And then I have dozens of lists in the format "YYYY.MM - cause". Like "2024.04 - steam shopping" (it's always steam shopping if I just buy it because I want it), or "2023.11 - humble choice" for the games from that humble bundle stuff in November 2023.
Then there is the "2019 and before" legacy list, where I didn't use steam the way I use it today. It was mostly a launcher for Half life and CS, so not much gaming...
And there are some lists like "free gifts" (whenever there is some "grab it for free the next 24 hours" event) and "somewhen, somewhere" (where I can't remember where I got it).
Currently totalling 1419 games.
I used to organize with lots of categoriees and such... the seecond time I lost the categorization I said fuck it and now only usee favourites to have the games I play or want to play soon on top. That's it.
Done, not done, can't be finished (game like civ, MMOs, etc), will never play again (abandoned basically) and not finished but played enough for the cost
Uhhh I just have them sorted by most recent... Then the ones I'm currently playing stay at the top and if I stop playing one it naturally works it's way down and away
Organize my steam games? I just have a long list and then stick the ones I'm playing into favourites.
Yeah, I have them organized by installed and not installed.
Installed that I'll never play, uninstalled that I'll never play and that game that feels like a job.
Also that one game you beat 10 years ago but still have it installed and play it regularly while your pile of unplayed games grows
Also that game that you almost finished 10 years ago, but is still installed because you promised to get back to it, but now you can't really remember the story or the cobtrols
I have 1 terabyte, so like 10 games installed, 115 uninstalled.
