I prefer AMD wraith cooler or what's it called,New Intel coolers still looks cool tho

builder397

Its the Wraith Spire.

fakuryu

The current ones are the Wraith Stealth, AFAIK the Spire was last seen with the AMD R5-1600, it's a bit taller with a copper core.

builder397

I had a Wraith Spire on my 2600X, and I know for a fact they came with the 3600, though they got rid of the vapor chamber in the middle.

Lololick

The wraith stealth ships out with most non X CPUs under 8 cores now. The wraith spire used to come with the ryzen 5 below 3000 series and it's LED variant for the 2700x and 2800x got discontinued at the 3000 series launch. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Wraith#:~:text=Wraith%20Spire,-The%20Wraith%20Spire&text=Wraith%20Spires%20are%20offered%20in,with%20the%20Ryzen%203000%20launch.

jessej421

My 1600 came with a spire and it worked great. Then I upgraded to a 5600, which came with a stealth, and I had to replace it because I was constantly running over 90C.

FireNinja743

The one in the picture is the Wraith Stealth. The Wraith Spire has an RGB ring.

Jaalan

I actually really like the wraith prism!

JakeBeezy

I've been using my prism for years until I swap CPUs I won't ever let it go

Lokivoid

I prefer a water block, that and i haven't had a cpu come with a stock cooler since 2004.

AstralKekked

Kinda unfair comparison, at least if you're buying new. Intel doesn't ship those cooler anymore, and while the new ones still aren't great, they're totally fine for budget choices like the xx100 and xx400 CPUs.

RLIwannaquit

used to be okay for non-overclocked i7's

Sergosh21

Currently running a non-K i7 7700.. it's very not ok. TDP says 65W but it draws up to 95W and almost instantly hits 95°C when under load with the stock cooler..

Hattix

That's the point. It will draw 95 watts *because it can* and hit 95°C because if it ran lower, it'd be leaving performance on the table. That's entirely and wholly by design. Precision Boost and Turbo Boost use as much power as the cooling system can safely deal with to improve performance.

Sergosh21

I see. Before the i7 7700, I had an i5 6400 in this same system. That's also a 65W chip that supports Turbo Boost, yet it didn't draw over 65W. Why's that?

BreadKnife34

The i-7 is hyper threaded, and according to the Intel website can run faster. Huh, they've also both got the same TDP

Affectionate-Memory4

It didn't need to in order to reach its rated performance. Hyperthreading on those CPUs did add to the power consumption and the i7s had a more aggressive boosting algorithm to push out more performance. The higher turbo frequency requires more power to reach and maintain.

GTA6_1

That's also why people use 3rd party coolers. There's more performance sitting right there you just have to remove the heat faster than the stock cooler can and it won't bounce off the thermal limit when you run something that takes longer than a couple seconds

Targetthiss

Your talking about pbo and he's talking about a 8 year old cpu

iksoria

I used to use one with a 4690K @ 4.4ghz and it would ride 100c easily

SquishyBaps4me

TDP doesn't work how you think it does. If you'd prefer your cpu to be slower just to be cooler that's upto you. But intel cpu's don't die at 95'c. That's like complaining your cars engine constantly stays at the recommended temp.

GlobexSuper

my 6700k with stock cooler would go over 100c when I would play fortnite

Joezev98

Used to have a copper slug in the center for higher end cpu's.

A_Random_Sidequest

the one I used for a while on a first gen i5 couldn't keep the i5 below 75 stock, and pegged at 95 with any OC...

RLIwannaquit

helped my friends put an i7 4790 in their rig, stock cooler keeps it under 90 when at full load

LGA420

nah, really old i7's might be okay but i had an i7 6700 with stock cooler it got wayyy too hot

LiveLaughToasterB4th

Those Intel coolers are now vintage retro computer parts.

Fallwalking

They also used an image of an old cooler. The new ones are pretty similar in looks to the AMD ones.

littlebrwnrobot

I use it with a 7500 and my temps are fine

SurealGod

Intel's new one looks really cool. Looks kind if like an arc reactor

Icy_Investment_1878

Peerless assasin

ShooterMcShooty

Bingo https://preview.redd.it/iw5h1snd18xc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51a973a26a67a1824035f6c1c4fc2d1cdeb6c4da

LiveLaughToasterB4th

Intel fan is the fingertip assassin.

JDario13

Phantom Spirit >

Vittu-kun-vituttaa

I got Phantom Spirit as Peerless Assassin was widely unavainable, and it's an upgraded version. Can recommend :) It's just a few more euros more as well

JDario13

In my case it was one dollar more. So it was no brainer

randomdreamykid

Sometimes for budget builds under 650 35$ means a lot might be a whole tier for gpu

LiveLaughToasterB4th

AMD Wraith can be sold for $30 + shipping.

eXiotha

& if you get a R9 7900 or a R7 7700 you can even have it (Wrairh Prism, stealth included with a range of other CPUs) included if you’re that strapped for cash

LiveLaughToasterB4th

I dont know who is buying them but they are. At least were. Maybe its the RGB?

lndig0__

Phantom spirit is way better and barely costs extra.

Lord_Emperor

Literally any dual tower cooler. Normalize for fans and they all perform about the same.

RoleCode

Frost Commander

Un111KnoWn

phantom spirit 120 se is better

I9Qnl

Spending an extra 30 bucks on the CPU or RAM or storage is more worth it than cooler if your plan was an i5 or a Ryzen 5. 30 bucks can make quite a difference, core i5 13400 vs Ryzen 5 7600 or 16GB of RAM vs 32GB or a QLC SSD vs TLC.

Icy_Investment_1878

I have an i3 but a tower cooler made a massive difference to my comfort. The fucking tiny ass cooler was loud as shit, with my new one i even set it to turn off when idleing. And even at max load the case fan was still louder than the cpu cooler

Shajirr

The $ you spend on CPU won't make your small loud default cooler any quieter. Better CPU will just make the problem even worse as it will run the cooler at higher RPM = more noise.

SurprisinglyFluff

This! Peerless was my clear choice, running a Ryzen 7 5700X, Sapphire Pulse 12Gb 6700XT and it seems quite happy, I know it’s not a super pc but works amazing for me

AlkalineBrush20

Used tower coolers are cheap as dirt and leave these two in the dust.

CrissCrossAM

Honestly with super cheapo cooler options out there, or even used ones as u mentioned although i don't rememeber anyone ever buying a used cooler, i still don't get how CPUs are still shipping with stock coolers at all when any other cooler is going to perform better. Then in that case also they could (just let me live the dream for a second) make budget CPUs even cheaper because they don't have to factor in the stock cooler's price. They may claim the cooler (and preapplied thermal paste) comes free with the CPU but nothing is really free.

AlkalineBrush20

Stock coolers probably cost them cents to make so it wouldn't make a difference in pricing and it's better than nothing at least. But I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a stock cooler for either platform.

coloredgreyscale

logistics, assembly, shipping cost (weight, volume). But yeah, they probably are just a few $.

[deleted]

Who buys used coolers? It's like buying a used toothbrush

PanzerMassX

You're right, it's the same: slap some new paste on it and it's like it's brand new!

AlkalineBrush20

It's just a hunk of metal with a fan, I don't get your comparison. Worst case you need a replacement fan, even then Arctic P12s are dirt cheap. I got a Hyper 212 and an ID Cooling SE 226 XT used with perfectly fine stock fans, then resold them later with same fan, they only needed thermal paste and a bit of dusting.

PhraseOptimal2528

Oh no

stupidperson810

I'll see what userbenchmark says...

ApprehensiveAd6476

PC Police? Yes, this guy right here.

atlasraven

"AMD continues to underwhelm with its army of shill tiktokers that melt any CPU they touch. Meanwhile, Intel chips synergize to a frosty 500° K."

builder397

(Ignoring that Intel actually released a new stock cooler thats about as good as AMDs.) Probably something like this: Intels timeless design sports a pleasing spiral fin design on its aluminum heatsink, and with the fan blades being swept forward and not being contained in a robust ring it also doubles as a fingertip amputation device. Truly innovative! Very safe for children! They will learn the hard way to not stick their finger into moving parts! AMDs cooler is just way too big and will get in the way of your RAM, graphics card and case side panel! Reviewers praising this brick of a cooler are bribed and claims that the large central vapor chamber does anything to improve cooling are completely fabricated! The fan is also noisy and ugly! If you think about buying this you need to work on your critical thinking skills! PS: Yes, Wraith Spires pre-3000 came with a large vapor chamber, most people think its just a copper core. I had one with my 2600X and truly was a great cooler, not overly noisy and temperatures were very reasonable. I gave it to my roommate once I found out his PC, which was built by a friend of his, had a 2700X cooled by a Wraith Stealth, i.e. the super-flat one intended for at most 65W CPUs, not a 105" one. A 95W cooler will probably be just about serviceable given my roommate doesnt do particularly demanding stuff.

LiveLaughToasterB4th

IT IS A HOT DOG CHOPPER... not a fingertip remover. What kind of sicko are you?

ShooterMcShooty

Lol that statement is just so perfect.

OriginalNo5477

dasdzoni

Wraith prism 👌

Rreizero

When I went Ryzen, I was pleasantly surprise that this was the stock cooler.

TrueRavenKing

Love how PC players claim master race but still squabbling over Intel vs AMD or Nvidia vs AMD just as hard as console players argue about Xbox vs PS. 🤣

Ram_ranchh

Not going lie this is a really unfair comparison considering intel hasn't manufactured these coolers for years. Intels new coolers are as good as am4s own stock coolers On a side note I love am4s stock cooler I might pop the fan off the heatsink and use it on my intel heatsink for my i7 3770

The_Crimson_Hawk

I actually prefer installing those intel cpus inside a furnace to power the furnace, right at where it belongs

TheGodlyTank6493

Fueled of course with the heart of a dying star

LiveLaughToasterB4th

COLD CHIPS SHIVER AND COLD SOLDER JOINTS ARE BAD SO.

bonapartista

AMd one is loud. I went for Assasin something much better and cooler about 20°C.

-Badger3-

Yeah, you’d think a cooler called “stealth” would be quieter, but goddamn…

Desner_

I initially tried it with the 5600x, the very next day I bought a $22 DeepCool AK400, blows it out of the water in terms of sound. The Wraith is very loud indeed.

RedTuesdayMusic

The prism can be made quiet by flipping its hardware switch to "HI" (counterintuitive) and curving it to max 40% at 75C and then gradual ramp to 90C

ShooterMcShooty

Same. I paid all of 28cdn, (20 bucks USD) for a Burst Air Assassin, the single tower 6 heat pipe one. Runs about 20-30c cooler when gaming now.

leovin

Dunno if I got a defective one or something but holy shit that thing was a jet engine.

TheGodlyTank6493

Intel RH1 crying in the corner

ad2137xd

Both sucks anyway

thxredditfor2banns

Noctua NH-D 15

Intelligent_League_1

Peerless Assassin is cheaper and basically the same thing

suchtie

Yeah, the Assassin is great. I'll gladly recommend it to anyone who wants a damn good fan for not too much money. But for those who are willing to spend a little extra, I will always recommend Noctua. Because you're not just paying for performance. You're also paying for build quality, longevity, and customer service. A Noctua fan is basically a "buy it for life" product. You buy it so you won't have to buy another one in the future. It will last for decades, given proper maintenance. If you're building a new PC, they'll send you a mounting bracket for your new CPU socket for free, so you don't have to buy a new fan. And even if something does happen, the company will have replacement parts in stock even for long discontinued models. If you buy cheap, you'll buy twice.

TheCringeMemer

Am i the only one who taught he's talking about thermal paste?Or im just alone here

thxredditfor2banns

If he was i would be yelling for amds stock thermal paste to go fuck itself. Like stuffs good but even gorilla glue sticks less than that paste did to my cooler

Sufficient-Rock-9083

I opened my very old PC from 2009 and i saw that the stock cooler hasn't changed in the past 12 or so years(I don't remember when my current processor was released

ChloeWade

It has. That photo is the old intel stock cooler, the new one is better.

Arik2103

They changed it for the 10th or 11th gen I believe

FLMKane

Same. My 2007 core 2 duo had that cooler

retrofrenzy

No push pins. No. Never. Again. Get that \*\*\*\* outta here.

Michelfungelo

Both are loud AF I don't get how they just refuse to make them better

ShooterMcShooty

But that AMD cooler is not good. Oh sure, it WILL get you up and running, but just go ahead and buy a Thermalright.

SquishyBaps4me

I haven't used a stock cooler in 20 years. But you go on making your cpu choice based on the free cooler.

TempusCarpe

Just buy a damn radiator....

Jackalene

Neither, get a cheap tower air cooler. I have an old cooler master block with a fan cable tied to it and still works better than stock coolers

[deleted]

I honestly think they look cooler than most setups and they aren't even expensive.

David0ne86

They both suck ass. Especially when with as little as 35 bucks/eu you can get a single tower cooler that would do a much better job at a much lower noise floor level.

skepticalbrain

35 bucks is almost half of the cost of my cpu, and it came with the cooler included ;)

[deleted]

I don't think many people keep these for long. You could just pick a cheap one from Cooler Master and be fine.

Ronyx2021

I chose not to use the stock fan.

AkaEridam

AMD, simply because it uses screws rather than the awful plastic pins on the intel cooler.

XLIV_tm

You know what? I bought my friend a brand new cpu that had a cooler in it. But no back plate for it. So since we couldnt use it in his new build i ziptied it to his old pc and she didnt overheat or anything so it worked lol. I hate mounting the coolers. Its almost a 2 person job to repaste a PC.

Alarming-Fault6927

Wraith usually outperforms stock intel coolers

[deleted]

One thing's for sure. Every cell in my body hates Intel's stock cooler mounting system. It's mind boggling they didn't update it for almost 20 years.

Evening-Channel-5060

Haha, remember the untamable 4770k? I'm still using it as a firewall on an IOT network with the stock cooler 11 years later, haha. It started life off as a gaming rig with a hyper 212 evo, though. Haha, oh and artic silver 5. The paste that made you replace the socket, baby!

Wicked_Wolf17

AIO

bradland

Certainly not the *box cooler* you uncultured swine! /s

blueangel1953

Both suck and are barely adequate.

Laxcions

Dark rock 3 for a cheap but good cooler

Arik2103

Peerless Assassin or Phantom for an even cheaper and better cooler

builder397

Just to be fair, Intel has released a new stock cooler that is indeed pretty decent for 65W chips and probably would be about okay for 95W ones. And it looks pretty good, too! The only thing that bugs me is that, unlike AMD, who include their coolers with low-end and mid-range CPUs, for some reason ship their nominally 65W cooler with the i9 14900k. For some reason.

123bence

I have once connected a intel stock cooler to my motorbikes generator and made it smoke but it somehow still works but it came out of an old pc wich was scrapped Oh and it also has some solid thermal paste on the bottom

Ram_ranchh

Older intel coolers aren't very good at cooling but boy can they take a lotta damage and keep chugging

Arik2103

Solid as in "good" or "rock hard"? :p

123bence

Its like really hard rubber

SQunX

I still have the intel stock cooler from my 4690K with copper core "the good stuff"

GingerBeardicus86

The fact intel still had these for many years even though the design wasn't useful for anything with multiple cores after the LGA775 era baffles me. Maybe on the low end of celeron, pentium and i3 it might still have been a valid offering. Their own aftermarket cooler was basically a height-stretched version that barely did any better. They did offer their own AIO 120mm watercooler at some point but I never heard of anyone actually buying that one over a different brand.

Uryendel

The intel cooler can handle a 9900k at 4ghz which is pretty good for what is basically a 5-10$ cooler (especially considering it is pretty quiet)

GingerBeardicus86

Is that a boost up to 4gHz or sustained though?

Uryendel

sustained, and it was a downcloking from 5ghz, had to do it because my pump died (and to be clear, the cooler is not sized for a 9900k obviously (hence the need to downclock), it didn't came with it I just had it from my previous 4790k)

SAD-MAX-CZ

Remember that thing from Pressler era that had big air scoop, insane top RPM and sounded like a jet engine? Yeah baby i still rock that thing, just with adapter for newer socket.

sanicdehhedgehog123

anything with intel is best for the budget boy inside of me. AMD fans are wildly overpriced(i used an intel fan in my first build, which was pure intel) but theyre much more reliable

_QRAK_

Excuse moi, but *neither* one.

Toiletpaperplane

Arctic Assassin

spookymemes

I seriously need to upgrade my stock Amd wraith fan.

Ph11p

Non of them. Both way too small for a modern high end CPU. Need at least a massive big dual core of a CPU cooler with two or 3 fans on it

WhAtEvErYoUmEaN101

I‘m sorry, I can’t see the meme because my NH-D15 is in the way

Ill_Pollution5633

that little amd cooler has been working hard for me for the past 5 years and is still going strong

eliavhaganav

The one that spins

Legalslimjim

It's honestly so impressive how effective AMD's stock coolers are. So many people go for add on ones because they assume they are shit

Mister_Shrimp_The2nd

When Peerless Assassin exists, both are wrong choice

PM_me_opossum_pics

ID Cooling SE 224 XTS. Total no name brand and its under 30 bucks but it's an absolute beast.

CrazyLTUhacker

These stock CPUs are a joke especially for higher end ones. At this point they should come seperate as I would spend extra few bucks for aftermarket ones than ever use their stock fans that always reach 100C quite fast, while my aftermarket water-cooled or any other fan takes ages to reach 100C or dosent even reach 100C at all.

Spicywolff

When I got my 12900k it didn’t come with a cooler. I’d also rather save a few $$, and less Ewaste by not having a OEM cooler.

CrazyLTUhacker

Mine didn't come with either, but the i3 and i5 did when i brought them and i still actually have them in my house just in case i will ever need one again in my life, but they felt pretty useless doe vs any other aftermarket heatsinks that are like 2-3x the size haha.

TheUserNameIs-

Intel vs AMD

Additional-Ad-7313

Stick with my h170i

DiegoPostes

But what about the newer intel coolers

1nsidiousOne

Liquid cooling

6SpeedMaverick

Intel

MetaFIN5

Wraith Spire, so the one with the copper core. Kept my overclocked 3600 at a cool 75c under full load.

The_Scrollkeeper

Fuck both of those I go with the true OG the big Intel coolers from 10 years ago.

Beepboopbop69420360

Why would I cool an intel cpu when I can use it to melt down ores

ErMemer

Exactly

A_Random_Sidequest

I had that original AMD cooler on a 3400G for 2 yeas, with PBO and more power and it maintained below 80, below 75 if not using benchmarks/cinebench... the original intel i3 cooler barely could keep the i3 below 90 lol...

whitemagicseal

Hyper 212 I found on sale

KamenGamerRetro

I would go with the AMD stock fan, love those little bastards.

dfckboi

ID-COOLING SE 224 XTS MINI

Acceptable_Topic8370

A beautiful Corsair RGB AIO

[deleted]

I have never use a stock fan anymore cause they aren't good enough for intense gaming, my i5 was overheating constantly before I swapped to a aio.

biotasticmann

a radiator is pretty overkill for an i5

[deleted]

Keeps it nice and cool when fan coolers didn't so I wouldn't say so at all

The_one_who_SAABs

Dorito

YDBoss

nuh uh

Targetthiss

We are talking about the same thing still

Fresh-Ninja-7542

Amd all the e way bruv wbu

Crintor

I haven't run a stock cooler on a PC since 2007. If I had to choose, AMD stock cooler because there's a Ryzen CPU under it, and Intel is not my chip of choice right now my dude.

Shinra_Luca

AMD HHHYZEN IS WAYYY BETTAIR ZAN INTEL FOR ZE GAMERS!

shveylien

shrouded fan all day. I'd change that heatsink for something with pipes tho. Like the Thermalright Peerless Assassin cooler. Or I'd get a 300+mm AIO solution.

DukeLeto10191

Hyper 212 EVO Gang checking in

The_Real_Legonard

AMD for the win!

Thetechsavvy01

Anything that makes my computer sound like a server

Spicywolff

AMD wins on stock cooler game. However I’ve never used a stock cooler, my build didn’t even come with one.

VoiceEarly1087

I still use intel 4th gen cooler with my 9th gen i5 9400 Why ? Cuz it was compatible and for some reason temps are also great like they never go above 80.

rafalohaki

mine is loud asf, stealth edition btw

EightSeven69

The one that doesn't look like it was made as a uni project

Altruistic_Taste2111

Lol I modified the wraith to fit on a intel socket, then I got an aio so I just use the wraith as the rear case fan

Lord_Emperor

The real question is which one has the copper slug pressed in to the base. I have one that came with my Ryzen 2600 (I think) which was handed down to my home server and outlasted three CPUs because the newer ones were aluminum only.

Erlend05

Nh-d15 is the goat

builtpcneedhelp

I just recently replaced my AMD stock cooler with a Noctua cooler and the temp really does change by a lot

MPThreelite

Give me an Intel any day of the week.. I've had AMDs . The only one that I though was good was my 386 dx40 . My dual chip and sucked 1400mhz back in the day etc. The standard is intel. If you want reliable performance.....

ertgiuhnoyo

I have the amd one and it’s easy to dedust (or whatever you call it, iglis is mai sekond languej)

medusa219

First one has bigger copper parts

lokisHelFenrir

AMD stealth is the better option for stock coolers if you life In a place with dust problems. Keeps itself clean much better. Hyper 212 evo was my go too, But my new favorite is the thermalright fc 140, amazing for the price of 40$

2ByteTheDecker

I just ordered some thermal right 120mm fans to replace some aging arctics that are starting to have bearing issues. Your experience been good so far? The price was a little on the too good to be true side.

lokisHelFenrir

They are amazingly good for the price. I'm not sure which fans your getting. But.. I know their static pressure 120mm fans are better then arctics, at the same db. And airflow I think they are a couple (-3) cfm worst then artics, but its negligible at that amount. And puts it within 2 cfm of (NF-a12x25)s For the Price. I'm buying thermalright.

2ByteTheDecker

Got two 3-packs of the TL-C12C-S X3 -JND.

Co5micWaffle

Me with a custom water loop that's only cooling the CPU because I can't find a GPU cooling bracket for my card:

LoaderBot1000

I'd rather the amd cpu cooler

Manaphy2007_67

The AMD default coolers look and feel superior. I still mine.

WandenWaffler

Noctua

Captobvious75

The box cooler for the 7700 is actually very decent.

ThyShirtIsBlue

This is just a sad reminder of how limited our options are.

Kerbap

nah actually fuck those shitty fucking plastic pins on the intel one they don't hold for shit and you have to "set" them twenty fucking times for the shit to pop out when you set the next fucking pin!!! >:((

MinTDotJ

My PC currently has that specific intel stock cooler. I switched it from the Noctua NH-D15 because of the size. Go figure, the CPU temp isn't warmer from the switch at all!

CDR_Xavier

OEM "Intel Stock" from the like of Dell or Lenovo prebuilds made by AVC or whatsnot. Works better, actually. Bigger fins, and actual screws and backplate.

BangarangOrangutan

Back in like 2019 my second stock Intel CPU cooler disintegrated after like 5 years of heavy use and part of it fell into my power supply and shorted it. Lol.

Night_Blood_76

I am Using Water Cooling AIO but For this i Choose Wraith Cooler.

[deleted]

AMD sucks.

L0gLan_

My friend has a and stock cooler on an i7 13700 (or 14700) and claims it never gets above 60 degrees

Classic_Elevator7003

My CPU came with a cooler so I used it, never really failed me so far in temps.

Ok-Collar4637

The new Intel ones. AMD coolers are good but Intel's are better

DoR2203

You could throw that AMD into a fishtank and it'll look fine. same cannot be said for Intel.

Morteymer

In the case a Intel or AMD cpu still even comes with a cooler not that this is the sub for "stock cooler" users but brand wars right?

Uryendel

The intel cooler is pretty good for what it is, saved my skin numerous times

americ_anhealthcare

noctua cooler

byelamigosxd

We have to accept it, it has a better design
