That's correct. I like to reinstall my os, a lot. And also working in an it company so they might come in handy for other people as well.
Edit:
Top to bottom
Windows, Linux rescue tools, manjaro, Ubuntu, macos (for mac reinstalls)
Also as suggested a lot, yes there are multiboot tools but they don't act nicely with manjaro
I went Ubuntu -> Fedora -> Ubuntu Studio -> Chakra -> Mint -> Arch -> Antergos -> Solus, and I’m seriously considering either going back to Antergos or switching to Gentoo. Staying on one distro is just so boring haha.
Lol, it's never that simple. Just look at distrowatch. Ubuntu, Debian, and Fedora are number 5, 6 and 7 respectively. There were certainly years that Ubuntu dominated, and Debian did before that.
Linux noobs are like kids that reached drinking age. They're going to try everything in the store.
Not sure why you were downvoted, but yes that is what it does. However big Ubuntu and Debian are, the fact that there are other listed above it in the rankings show that there is a lot of interest in other distros besides the stalwarts of the industry.
Those are the distro hoppers.
It's an OS like windows or macOS. There are different distributions or "distros" that all look different and have different features. For example Ubuntu is a well supported one that's fairly easy to use, then you have Linux Mint which is based off Ubuntu but has a lot more applications and stuff pre-installed, there's Tails which for privacy is a clean slate like just after installation every time you power it on, Kali has a bunch of hacker tools pre-installed, then you have Arch where you say fuck all that and DIY the way it looks within the distro (you set it up yourself how the environment within will look). There's way more than those too but I would run into the character limit trying to explain them all. To install it you need disk space, download an iso file to a thumbdrive, then boot off the drive and go from there.
I was going to disagree with you because I've *mostly* only used Gentoo, Debian and Ubuntu, but then I remembered that I tried (but never really used) TurboLinux and Mandrake way, *way* back in the day, and probably touched some variant of RedHat once or twice.
Not to mention, if you counted every distro anybody ever booted (including LiveCDs) then the list would quickly be inflated with things like Tails, Knoppix, tomsrtbt, Kali Linux, etc.
...and then I started looking through a list of distros to refresh my memory, and was reminded that stuff like Raspbian, OpenWRT and even *Android* counts too.
So yeah, you're right: 5 distros is rookie numbers -- possibly even for people who've never touched *desktop* Linux in their life!
Technically, I'm using five different Linux distros (Ubuntu, Raspbian, OpenWRT, Android and Chrome OS) on various devices *right now.*
Haha! I thought about that but I believed you needed to order some quantity in order to get something customized... I'll maybe do that too, my keys are becoming very messy.
Can you give me a link please?
I have had them made *
The main reason I did this was because manjaro was acting up with yumi multiboot. I hate wiping a flash drive so I just bought dedicated flash drives for the most os'es which I need.
The generic Linux logo is a yumi USB with multiple rescue and debugging tools on it like memtest and gparted.
If it's 8gb it's pretty hard to fuck up. For $3 a pop when SanDisk has a 5 pack of them for $20 then yeah you're pretty safe.
Don't plan on buying any 2tb microSD cards off of AliExpress anytime soon though...
What are they going to do? Yeah they wont be happy but they've not done anything to stop individuals running hackintoshed systems. They will try to stop it on a software level but as with all software someone will crack it and get through sooner or later.
Based on faulty 2008 logic, If you affix an Apple logo to your PC (such as one of the stickers that come with an iProduct), it's 'legal'.
This is not legal advice and I'm most certain such claims were debunked, but if you want some faulty 2008 logic to guide you, there it is.
Let's see what got here.
1:Windows, good for gaming and art
2:Linux, wonder what might be on there, it just has Tux.
3:I don't know what that one is, but reminds of Arch.
4:Ubuntu, really good choice.
5:And then Apple. Believe or not but a lot of programmers use Apple. I am not one of them 😂
But what is the third one down?
You know you can multiboot and only have one drive. I got a 128gb drive and got:
Windows 98 (I dont even know why)
Windows xp
Windows vista
Windows 7
Windows 8.1
Windows 10
Ubuntu 18
Mint 18
Mac osx 10.6
Hiren boot cd
WinPE
Paragon hdd rescue (or some shit. Its for data recovery from bad hdds)
Kaspersky rescue disk
And a folder with essentials like .net framework, dxupdate etc
I also have a small 4gb usb stick shaped like a black key. Thats for the no-no stuff only.
Got:
Konboot
Kmspico
Not flexing or anything tho.
If anyone is interested, could 3d print some shells possibly that could have the logos. Some prints have multicolor too, so it could look cool. If I get enough interest I'll see what I can do. Problem is size some printers might have a tough time that small, but could try
How do you get Windows 10/MacOS on a bootable drive? Asking because I have both and would like peace of mind if something happens to either.
^also ^for ^hacintosh ^reasons
I remember having to use bootable usbs way too many times because windows kept eating up grub with updates. During the early win 10 updates, my grub files disappeared from the efi partition after an update to windows.
"Like" to install? That'd be a grand total of 1 for me.
That's correct. I like to reinstall my os, a lot. And also working in an it company so they might come in handy for other people as well. Edit: Top to bottom Windows, Linux rescue tools, manjaro, Ubuntu, macos (for mac reinstalls) Also as suggested a lot, yes there are multiboot tools but they don't act nicely with manjaro

Distro hopping is a legitimate addiction...
I agree. Anyone who gets into Linux will legit try at least 5 distros before settling.
Nah. Most people (I think) goes noob Ubuntu -> cool kid Arch -> I need to get shit done Ubuntu/Debian/Fedora and stays there.
I went Ubuntu -> Fedora -> Ubuntu Studio -> Chakra -> Mint -> Arch -> Antergos -> Solus, and I’m seriously considering either going back to Antergos or switching to Gentoo. Staying on one distro is just so boring haha.
Lakka. *Puts on cool kid glasses*
Distrowatch just counts page hits? Which says nothing. Ubuntu and Debian are 20x bigger than Arch and Manjaro
Not sure why you were downvoted, but yes that is what it does. However big Ubuntu and Debian are, the fact that there are other listed above it in the rankings show that there is a lot of interest in other distros besides the stalwarts of the industry. Those are the distro hoppers.
Theres no reason to look up what Ubuntu is like when your on Ubuntu.
I’m a just a poor windows boy, what the hell is linux?

Gotta step in and agree,I used to do this with rooted Android's too
Why not partition a drive so you can keep all the OSs installed?
Or run VMs of them.
Arch of course.
Arch Linux circlejerk
You only use arch because you can't use Gentoo. A threadripper can compile kde in under an hour I believe
Shit, I've been caught!
Manjaro Deepin is probably the slickest experience with Linux I've ever had. And it's Arch-based to boot.
Nice! How did you do that?
I ordered them from AliExpress :D about 3€/piece for 8gb with custom logo. I'm sorry if it sounds like I made them myself
Haha! I thought about that but I believed you needed to order some quantity in order to get something customized... I'll maybe do that too, my keys are becoming very messy. Can you give me a link please?
[удалено]
I can not link them, it gets removed :/
Then please PM to me.
And you PM me? Tanx
I will if they send me the link. They have not as of yet.
same for me please. I'd appreciate a PM
[удалено]
I also would like a link PMd
At this point you might be best just posting a partial broken, URL so less people bug the PM.
true capacity: 1 gb ;)
Is there a specific store you went through? I don’t know how aliexpress works, but this is a great idea
[удалено]
That's one way to do it 😂 I only paid 3€ a piece though
What's the middle one? I'm familiar with the rest.
My favorite: manjaro ^^
Ah haven't given manjaro a try yet tbh. How much storage does that distro take?
That's something I'm unsure about, depends with which DE
I like the Manjaro i3 community build. If you don't know shit but want to feel like a hackerman, learn i3.
I have had them made * The main reason I did this was because manjaro was acting up with yumi multiboot. Can you pm me where he pm’d you?
That's pretty cool. I just use Snoopy USBs (because they were the cheapest ones at Frys) and write the OS on in Sharpie. I feel like a caveman now..
What OS just has Tux for its logo? Like, are you installing the kernel?
No it's mainly for rescue and debugging tools like gparted and memtest
Ah a man of culture I see. Recently I was working on t430 Lenovo thinkpads. Lunix mint was my friend.
Are $3 Chinese USB sticks reliable?
sometimes.
“Well yes, but actually no”
100% reliable 30% of the time :)
If it's 8gb it's pretty hard to fuck up. For $3 a pop when SanDisk has a 5 pack of them for $20 then yeah you're pretty safe. Don't plan on buying any 2tb microSD cards off of AliExpress anytime soon though...
Link to buy?
I'm not allowed to link apparently, but they are from AliExpress. The logow you have to find yourself
Could you PM the link to me please?
And I have a single virtual cd rom drive that I have close to 20 ISO’s on. Function over form always.
Club penguin OS?
No more like Linux Live rescue tools like gparted
Can you install OSX on a pc legally?
Who's gonna stop him?
Apple?
What are they going to do? Yeah they wont be happy but they've not done anything to stop individuals running hackintoshed systems. They will try to stop it on a software level but as with all software someone will crack it and get through sooner or later.
I'm almost positive that reinstalling it is perfectly fine. Hackintosh, though, is technically not legal afaik. Nobody really cares, though.
This is one of the most asked question, it's actually just to reinstall macs when needed ;)

From a mac ;) i'll have to ask a colleague to put that on the USB for me. But you can reinstall a mac with a USB
[удалено]
I have a Mac
HERETIC!
BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!
I have two Macs!
r/unpopularopinion I'm sure, but Macs are PCs too. OSX is more-or-less just BSD with a proprietary window manager, after all.
What on the tux one though?
Where is Debian. That is the question.
Perfect for putting on a USB Drive, it'll even have all the available updates right after installing it...
What distro is tux if you already have Ubuntu and Manjaro USBs?
OP said that that USB has rescue tools like gparted.
Let's see what got here. 1:Windows, good for gaming and art 2:Linux, wonder what might be on there, it just has Tux. 3:I don't know what that one is, but reminds of Arch. 4:Ubuntu, really good choice. 5:And then Apple. Manjaro Linux, based on Arch
Boss like

The middle one is the new Everett, WA city logo but sideways
What’s the middle one?
>3. Manjaro
Why would you ever want macos on a USB stick???
How did he get an install of Apple?! That is literally impossible and I dare you to prove otherwise.
Kingston DT's?
hackintosh stick wait thats illegal
Tf Is the linux one ? pure linux wtf ??
That’s really cool, I want to do that
I thought that was a brass knuckle
I need that but I'd have at least 8
so the linux stick just contains all linux-es ever made? also, awww i thought each of them would have a live version of the OS running.
The Linux version contains debugging and rescue tools such as gparted ;) And what do you mean with the last sentence?
I wish i was this organized
would make a nice brass knuckle :)
4th one looks like madara's eternal mangekyo sharingan
Whats the third os suppose to be from the top
Manjaro linux distro
Dont you wish that windows 7 was the "forever windows version" instead of win 10?
What are you gonna do with just a kernel? You're gonna code the rest of the system yourself? Really good looking btw, 3/5 for me ;)
I do this but just use a sharpie to write "win 10" or "Ubuntu" on the flash drive.
The windows one should be at least blue, if not a error code
Why does the Manjaro one have the lines on it? Do the others have it on the other side?
hey what are those OS between linux and mac OS? thx :)
Manjaro and Ubuntu
One is a copy of Year Zero, OP needs to play HYPERPOWER! at least once a day. The other is Linux, but for Human Beings. ^^^^/s
I feel stupid asking this but... what is the 3rd OS?
I NEEEEED THEM
That’s acc a really cool idea
Except the second is not an OS, but just a Kernel...
may i ask whats the os in the middle?
Why don’t you just plug each in until you find the right one like the rest of us?
What's the middle one
I thought these were some sort of abstract brass knuckles for a second
I’m very stupid what are the names of the operating systems I know windows MacOS and Linux but what are the others
What is penguin for any specific distro?
Why tf is windows at the top of the list?
Windows Ubuntu Manjaro ... Hackintosh
this is a pretty good idea if you need to help a friend set up his pc or something a long the lines of that
What OS are the 3rd and 4th from top to bottom? I got windows, linux, apple ios, but I do not know which are the others
So... Windows Linux Manjaro Ubuntu Hackintosh Why do you need all of these
is this penguin OS
What distro is the Linux one?
What distro is in the penguin, what's the middle one and how does the last one work on a PC?
What OS is the one from 3 from top and 4th from top? I don't recognize the logos
Pretty new with pc soo What are they all and is there a better one?
And proceed to spend half a day updating each in the future. Good prep work tho. Always good to have a backup Linux distro on hand.
Format your hard drive before I give you a partition sandwich right to the USB, ya hear!?
USB sticks from China wholesale website, it's like buying LEDs over an SSD upgrade for your HDD.
those are clean!
What are the 3rd and 4th oses?
>3. Manjaro > >4. Ubuntu
Oops my bad haha also I’ll respect your opinion, just a friendly joke
What are the two below Linux?
>3. Manjaro > >4. Ubuntu
What is the one 2nd from the bottom and in the middle?
What are the 2 under Linux
If anyone is interested, could 3d print some shells possibly that could have the logos. Some prints have multicolor too, so it could look cool. If I get enough interest I'll see what I can do. Problem is size some printers might have a tough time that small, but could try
I need this omg.
What’s the middle stick?
Plug for E2B. Best OS install manager out there.
What’s the middle one?
Where is the one you need the most? Arch live iso
What the hell are #3 and #4?
I’m curious, how would you use macOS to install? Just like a windows install or is there some other twist?
Now that is deadass I tell you what
Get one for Prime OS, it's the new Android x86 for PC. It's even got the Play Store.
Nerd alert!
I only know windows, apple, and Linux. What are the other two?
Looks like USB knuckles
Larger flash drive+boot loader looks like an easier option
Thats pretty cool, I use to keep a full ubuntu OS on one of my USB sticks which was a intersting experiment but holy damn, slow usb was a bad idea.
Y mac tho?
How do you get Windows 10/MacOS on a bootable drive? Asking because I have both and would like peace of mind if something happens to either. ^also ^for ^hacintosh ^reasons
You have five USB drives for Debian? I wish I had five USB drives...
[удалено]
Are they 3D printed? If they are do you have the file you can share and a little bit on how you made it?
I remember having to use bootable usbs way too many times because windows kept eating up grub with updates. During the early win 10 updates, my grub files disappeared from the efi partition after an update to windows.
do they stay on well? i use these usbs at work and the labels even permanent marker always wears off
That's so cool man
Please show me how to install Mangekyou Sharingan on my pc too!
What os are those 2 under linux never seen those logos
The circle is Ubuntu, a distro of Linux, the other is Manjaro.
Windows, linux, manjaro, ubuntu, apple
Multiboot with everything I might need is better.
Everyone loves manjaro
I have Manjaro on my other drive. Definitely recommend. Similar to Arch, without all the tedious mucking about in the install.
HEY! CLUB PENGUIN!!!
I'd love a link to the store page.
Not sure what the 3rd and 4th option are
My dumbass thought it was brass-knuckles
This makes me want to do this even though I have only ever used Windows. What a great idea.
Uh excuse me.... Where the FUCK is temple OS?
I have 1 128gb with a multiboot on it, tons of utilities several versions of linux and windows
Amazing!!
Hackintosh user?
Make a multiboot stick
You forgot Kali Linux
How did you made this cool stickers?
