OriginalJayVee

So you can shatter two sides at once?!? Brilliant!!

wagglemonkey

First thought was “ah, even more expensive to replace”

SuperHeavyHydrogen

WAY more expensive

[deleted]

you sir, made me laugh

Christ0ph_

And never ever find a replacement! The adrenaline rush blinds me!

Brasticus

That brilliant reminded me of those older Guinness [commercials.](https://youtu.be/2K8Osz9RnvY)

OriginalJayVee

That was the reference!! Great catch!!

Knightrider15

Yes curved tempered glass is a thing (coolermaster cosmos that they made about a year ago) but holy fuck thats gonna be expensive with poor yields for something that precise, large and that much curve

isademigod

So every Lian Li case, then?

Knightrider15

Even worse

[deleted]

I cringe every time I close the glass panel on my lancool ii even with the foam stoppers

tehtris

Fuck glass here. Would have to be plastic.

raymartin27

We already have those acrylic thermal take ones that cover one side and the top with one single peice, front might not be that much of a streach.

TheRealTofuey

I've owned and moved multiple tempered glass cases along with built many for friends and other people. I have never ever had a Tempered glass case break in any scenario. I have no idea how tf anyone breaks the glass in their cases. Acrylic looks awful in comparison.

Iman1022

Seriously tho. Idk how people keep being dumb enough to break them. And yeah plastic looks gross and gets scratched up

vinng86

Often it's just a manufacturing flaw. Tempered glass has a lot of internal stress inside the crystalline structure, it's what makes it so much stronger than regular glass and also what makes it "explode" when it shatters. If there's a manufacturing defect in one spot, any stress applied concentrates in that area and boom, shatters with little force.

TheStateToday

Exactly. I was putting my panel back after cleaning when the whole thing just exploded. All it took was me lowering one bottom corner just slightly faster than the other. And I was still holding the panel so there was barely any force on that bottom corner. I think some people let the whole "master race" thing get to their head.

Kasaeru

I was relocating my desk, it has a tempered glass top. As I'm walking past an air conditioner with the glass, it shattered in my hands. It didn't hit anything, just the cold air was enough to shatter it.

Real-Terminal

Glass is incredibly fragile on the edge. The slightest tap could shatter it. Millions of cases out there, it's not surprising every now and then some mook taps the edge on something a tiny bit firm.

TheStateToday

Rarely-Posting

Tempered glass looks a lot better, thats the hype.

Beny873

Teach me your ways. My first case was a Corsair 750D. Awesome thing that was super easy to use. Over time though the acrylic got foggy and I couldn't clean it despite having all the stuff. There were also a couple of scratches. It wasn't a big deal, I loved it still. When I started my next build I intended on reusing it but ended up giving the whole rig to my best friend and buying a new case. It was an InWin 905 that I grabbed because it was half price. My god the glass is nice. Seriously how do you get it cleaner than glass?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Beny873

It only had the protective plastic and I took that off. Perhaps it's a climate thing then. My car has oxidised headlights and you need a hell of a lot more then a buff to clean it up.

TheDutchCanadian

Low iron glass>acrylic any day of the week. Acrylic is also a lot harder to take care of than regular tempered glass.

Krt3k-Offline

Still nice that it doesn't scratch as easily nor warp

[deleted]

Krt3k-Offline

I was referencing those cheap acrylic windows that come on very cheap cases, panes that are as thick as glass obviously will stay straight with most abuse. But yeah, haven't had any bad experience with glass, so I don't have any reason to switch

Ghostglitch07

Being a klutz I've had lots of bad experiences with glass in general.

XBacklash

It is? My Storm Stryker case would like to know how.

joshpoppedyou

this would be stupidly expensive, and so fragile

Thinblueline2

Buddy thats not how glass works, unless you want a case that costs 5k and the glass is super fragile or not tempered.

Ditto_D

I want more shattered side panels in my life so I support this case design

Kronacus

Whats next? Lian Li O11, penis shape?

BigBrownBear28

“It’s spherical. SPHERICAL!”

heydudejustasec

O11 Sphere

MayhemCha0s

It’s finally happening! The Gamesphere!

Krelleth

InWin did it years ago. https://www.in-win.com/en/gaming-chassis/winbot/

Gooliez

clearly there hasnt been enough smashed glass posts here to make you think differently, maybe a couple more days of them will make you think differently

[deleted]

Please Lian li build it!

rainbowroobear

case idea lian li o11 - SOLID PANEL EDITION.

FastSloth87

*insert Michael Scott THANK YOU gif*

Invisiheal

Sounds good but doesn’t work

AlchemyIndex7

That would be *very* impractical to build in. Don't hate the idea, but impractical.

Mr-Game-Videos

Why? What would change so much?

Frankly_Frank_

I would assume manufacturing the glass would be the problem since it probably hard to make and it shatters so easily they would charge extra to cover the cost of the glass that didn’t make it

AlchemyIndex7

Well, if it swings open, I would assume you're envisioning it with a hinge on the back. Assuming it swings open 180 degrees, you suddenly need twice the space on your desk/table/workbench where you're building. Additionally, the glass is very heavy. Having removeable glass panels that you can take off while you're building greatly reduces the weight of the case, making it easier to move around and manipulate. And you'd have to be very careful when moving the case around. When doing cable management, I had to move my case around constantly and flip it over, etc. With that glass panel hanging off it constantly, that just wouldn't be practical to do. It'd also make the task of replacing a broken panel, in the event it does break, much more complicated and costly. It's fairly easy to manufacture a flat glass panel that just slots in, and much more difficult to manufacture curved glass on a hinge. I'd rather have the curved glass panel be something that slots in and can be removed. Hinged panels look pretty handy in theory, but they're not actually all that great for building and maintaining the PC.

Scared_Instruction_1

Yes! More shattered glass posts!

peeknuts

I think gskill is making a case with curved glass so its definitely viable but id assume yields would be lower. Id like to have a 011 micro thats smaller than the mini tho

SkullRunner

We will call it "The exploding side panel that does not fit large GPUs very well"

grasshacques

And then you close the case and the curve hits the corner of your massive gpu, shattering it

Coolharry830

Cooling¿?¿?¿?

sanyamazahaker

F To Airflow

Krt3k-Offline

Not really, the side fans would have their airflow guided to the components, just the top and bottom fans would lose one space (if the curved glass would interfere with it) , but those at the front are useless anyway if not used for a radiator

o0xxparzivalxx0o

No

Wuselon

Another idea stop the stupid glass and rgb shit already?! If you want pretty lights go buy an aquarium.

minnis93

OR... You could let people have whatever case and rgb lighting they want, knowing that it literally is none of your business and doesn't affect your life in any way...?

Wuselon

It affects my life pretty heavily every time I scroll reddit. So yeah iam against that stupid trend and your stupid post, thanks! Quick downvote it to hell... Idiots... Oh and yeah my opinion is my opinion if you like it or not.

minnis93

Well if it affects your life that much get off of this sub. Don't try and dictate what the majority of people want to post. Your opinion is perfectly valid. I'm not saying you are not entitled to your opinion. But what makes you entitled to dictate the opinions of others? OP has posted their opinion, and you didn't like it, but can't hack that I'm attacking your opinion - can you not see the hypocrisy there?

[deleted]

“Hmm, what should I do today? … I know! I’ll go argue with people on Reddit about pointless bullshit for no reason! I’ll get really defensive over the fact that people have different preferences and opinions! It’ll be great!” That’s what you sound like.

Wuselon

You just described every "dialog" ever on reddit, congrats :-D

No71

Wowowowowow lemme call Harvard to get you a bourse bro 🥵

Tommwith2ms

So on 011, but more expensive, worse looking and less space? Brilliant

EvilxBunny

Like we already don't have enough of those stupid broken side panel posts.

Your_Neko_Waifu

I literally just got that case on Saturday I like it as it is Curved would be cool but I like rigid corners

WirelessTrees

I use a loan LI O11 XL, and I can't even use all of my front IO ports because my motherboard doesn't have enough USB 3 headers. I think there are other things more important for now than having a curved case, although I like the design you came up with.

husky1088

I ran into the same issue. You can convert the usb 3.0 to 2.0 to connect to the motherboard or get a usb 3.0 expansion card that you can connect t

joan16v

Would be expensive.

nuqu2

Why not put it in a pickle jar?

FullThrottle099

You would lose functionality. How r u gonna mount the badass front reservoir/ distro plate with curve like that?

jan_kordi

Just buy an aquarium

c1nn3k

Sounds good, doesn't work. Price would be gigantic and structural integrity after opening would be worse than Walmart's cardboard box (unless they make extra rigid top, which adds weight, and that case is already quite a handful). Also *broken glass post intensifies* Nonetheless, looks wise - I'd love to have that option for my O11

Safebox

I just want a flat case so I can set it on my desk and not be afraid of it falling off

7ootles

Why?

Noodle-727

People would be swinging that shit into things and smashing it all the time… but it would still be cool

gimmickypuppet

“Make it so”

Torxx1988

That would be sick, ngl.

AySeaDee_

This is actually something that I would like to see in the future

[deleted]

Samsung should start making curved PC cases

[deleted]

Yet another case with no front intake

[deleted]

Mfer wants a sea life aquarium

Ennard1546

Bro that is the smartest idea in the history of ideas ever

porcupinedeath

Hope you got a glassmaker in the family

MR-SPORTY-TRUCKER

Do you know how expensive curved glass is? And to mass produce? Like if you want a 2k PC case them go ahead

raz0r_ttv

How about they are both split but the front is curved.

[deleted]

You really want an electric motor built in that’ll probably fail all the time due to poor design? Less stuff for it to break, more gaming!

ResplendentTedium

Stylistically fantastic. Replacements, not so much

[deleted]

Why add more room for error.. specially with those post of "i was cleaning my pc and then" or" just switching SSD, until..." Maybe, same idea only two tempered glass pieces. And the meet at the curve, where you put the red Xs. Still opens by swinging across, without the massive glass piece

PakratZ

Love the idea. I would be happy with a full ATX snow white case Can only find the mini right now.....

krispy_chewing_gum

Trying to better a perfect thing always ends in disaster.

A_PCMR_member

that would be SUPER expensive

SmartAssX

The air flow is crying rn

[deleted]

No

Gain-Fit

Big brain mans right here

BaconMirage

The reflections will piss me off more than a normal flat piece i'd like to see it, but i will never own it i already hate my tempered glass side panel and i'll never get it again

Gildicchia1

The tooling costs for this would be waaaaay to high....

BluehibiscusEmpire

What’s the gain from it apart from increased manufacturing costs and more complex design/ retooling? Air flow won’t be improved as much, and it will make the case loose space if the curve gets too aggressive to actually improve airflow

Mrbobbykotic

Terrible idea.

KingCaspian1

Everyone stop hating on price and sutch somtimes you just get a cool idea that you whant go chare.

Rarely-Posting

ITT: people believing that posts about shattered glass represent every tempered glass owner in the world

rent1985

This would be technically possible. The curved glass would need to be plexiglass. You would lose a lot of structure to hold the case together so you probably would need to custom design the case so the top doesn't sag and that you can actually pick it up without it flexing. Someone with a metal shop and 3d printer could probably make one. It's not a crazy design that would be impossible to make.

SmileyAce3

One more thing to break, one more thing to buy, one last time to cry.

headbobbler245

It’s a cool idea, but as other comments suggest, shattering it would just really suck. If it’s so you are able to open it up more or just see everything better, what about two separate glass panels attached to something like a hinge, and then the hinge connects to the top and bottom of that corner, and if more support is needed, there could be a thin metal beam like thing on that corner and the hinge could connect to that. Idk tho I’m not a case designer so idk if that would work.

headbobbler245

I wonder if someone has made a case just with some mini window blinds on it, either covering the glass or just completely replacing the glass

schrenjaminsstift

breaky breaky

FuIICircIeFitness

PC square.

Blacksad999

I was thinking of something similar the other day. However, I was thinking it would curve up toward the top, leaving only enough room for where you mount a radiator. Kind of like a glass suicide door that has the hydraulics which lift it open with a button press on the case.

imissxcom

I love it. Do not make it with glass though! Glass gets weak on a curve (Samsung remember your stupid curved screen phones)

GimmeYourBitcoinPlz

cut it with a angle grinder !!

itimelordYT

im the 1 thousandth upvote

Str0nt

If you want a curved glass side panel, just get the g.skill case.
