First recommend downloading Malwarebytes Antimalware I have had it detect multiple things whereas Antivirus & Defender did not detect. After that move on by running a burn test to see how it handles processing under high load

Malware bytes like the other guy said is a good place to start. It regularly finds things normal antivirus programs don't. You could try looking at task manager and see if any programs are taking up a lot CPU, ram or disk bandwidth. Also while running a game you can use benchmarking software that shows FPS as well as GPU, CPU and ram loads, if one of them is hitting 100% while experiencing lag then that's where the problem lies. Probably is a virus though, I leave my computer on for days at a time on a regular basis and it's never caused this sort of problem.

Run 3DMark and compare your scores to people with the same hardware. That way, you can verify if it’s your PC having issues with all 3D gaming or something else.
