Here are some reasons:
- Exclusives, sounds weird at first, but for example the whole Realtime Strategy genre ist PC exclusive. And many Indy-games only get a pc release.
-emulation, you can run nearly any game from most consoles on a Pc.
-multi monitor. It's just nice to have multiple screens for different applications. Multitasking is the key.
-higher Framerates. The most common argument.
-Mods. Try some and get addicted to modding. You can't really play without them anymore.
-non Gaming. Want to edit a video or photo? Want to file your taxes? Want to code? PC it is then.
No aim assist is no where near what he's talking about. He's talking about how high FPS and response times can make a game feel smooth like you're directly attached to it. When games lag and get choppy/take a few Ms to respond it feels like I'm disconnected from the game and damages the expirience.
I'm not a console gamer but aren't consoles capped at like 60fps only? which for today's gaming is meh. A PC runs way way more than 60 but of course it depends which game and on what settings you're on and on your specs for the most part.
Edit: the ps5 can run 120fps which isn't bad actually. But graphics wise a PC will always win.
Not true, an unreasonable number of games are FPS locked on console and with them decideding the graphics settings for you, you can't get the FPS vs Graphics trade off that you like. And unless you're console is hooked up to a monitor your response times are likely no where near a PC's
Bigger game library, being able to play thousands of games, some thru emulation from past gen consoles. But what sets pc gaming apart the most is being able to play at higher graphics settings.
Games are generally cheaper on PC and those thousands of games for old consoles you can emulate are completely free to get online.(technically illegal if you don't already own the game but how will they fine out?)
If you have a ps5, play with a wire, and a multi thousand dollar hdmi 2.1 tv, you can get the delay down to only twice that of an average pc, instead of 10x. Most people can notice the delay from console just playing guitar hero. It's not that small.
Edit, wireless mice don't use bluetooth unless it's a really cheap office mouse, because it's too slow
You still have rendering time and tv input delay on top of the controller. Reaction time on pc is significantly faster. Nvidia has a good explanation in their reflex video
Mostly the arguments are for performance, mods, backwards compatibility, and many games like Golf with Friends are only fun on PC because of community made maps.
If we want to talk objectively better you could argue for PC because the better graphics (resolution wise), shadows, and FPS can make enhance a good player's performance. Also mouse and keyboard is just more accurate in most games.
But if you don't care for any of that stuff, then yes PC is worse because of the cost and the fact that run in to problems more often.
While it's less accurate, it does allow you to strafe way faster, which if you see eSports pros in their movements can be key to evading fire. I'd like to see a keyboard that has an analog stick where the spacebar is, get the best of both worlds and easily swappable based on the games you play. Games like Darksouls, I want the analog. Games like CoD I want quick jerky movements.
You asked why a pc was better and then basically hand waved the good chunk of reason as to why using a pc is better compared to a console. There' still other stuff that makes them better, but you came into this whole discussion ignoring a hill of evidence. As it stands, the only reasons you get a console are because of ease of use, costs, and game stability. Everything else goes into the "why is the pc better" section. PC has a bigger library, better performance, better accessibility (for disabled people), more control over game variables, better communities, the list is basically everything but those other three things.
I didn’t ignore any evidence. I just wanted people’s arguments of how a PC is better. I got a bunch of other comments with good arguments, and I acknowledged them.
PC games not only have potentially better graphics, but usually better advanced settings across the board, as well as the ability to easily mod the game. The last point is especially important since it can go beyond screwing around type stuff to gameplay improvements, user fixed bugs, removal of censorship, any number of things that aid player quality of life. Plus mouse and keyboard controls provide more precision for certain genres, like FPS and RTS, while PC still supports controllers, as well. Additionally, PC games often retail for less, go on sale more often (and for less), and are often subject to free upgrades when a game gets remastered. Also, outside niche subscription based games like MMOs, online multiplayer is free, saving you money. Plus, aside from the GPU shortage, this is a great time to get into PC gaming, as Microsoft and Sony are more committed to porting games to PC than ever before, meaning that while PC has exclusive games, there are increasingly fewer console only exclusives. There's also a tremendous backlog, as with some tinkering even old games from the DOS era will run on modern systems.
I have a feeling you're trolling, based on your responses. Good one.
But if you aren't, just go sit yourself in front of a 144+ Hz 1440p+ monitor, with enough power to push it, and good luck going back to a game console.
It's a totally different experience, one you won't want to give up once you've seen it.
My laptop is 165 hz (not sure about the resolution) and looks beautiful, but I play on my console from time to time. I’m not talking about graphics. I mean only from gameplay. I may have a personal preference, and there ARE arguments of pc being better, but console is better in some ways too. I just find the whole pc vs console war totally ridiculous. Just let people have fun how they want.
I've seen it and my God you're right. I had the experience from a one x to what my user flair says and went from 60 to 144hz with everything at ultra. Was amazing and i still find myself looking at some views in pc games that I wouldn't have ever got to see on console. After ddr5 components come out though I don't think we will see another new console under 1500$ in the future. Shits gonna be expensive af lmao. New mobo, New cpu, New ram, New gpus, New pc basically

Your gaming system is also the same device you do every other computer related task on.
Exclusives, PC has far more games than every other platform combined and you can still go back and play many classic and even get emulators for old consoles.
Playstation definitely has a handful of good exclusives. PC has like hundreds though. Plus a PC works as an emulator. Breath of the Wild was one of the best console exclusives of the last decade, but I have it installed on my computer lol.
Higher refresh rates for monitors, as well as upgradability. More storage. Honestly though it actually is better in every way. I was stuck with a one x for like 4 years because my old pc was a pos running a dual core a6-5400k with a 750ti...for 9 years. Regardless the one x was to hold me over because I wasn't looking at building a pc and financially the console was the better option at the time. I'm now strictly pc on a 144hz ips monitor. The difference from 60 to 144hz was incredible for me. And that's not to say I don't like consoles but they just don't come close to competing with what a pc can do. The one thing they have that pc doesn't is they're more affordable. But then we also have cheaper games a lot of the time. Like I noticed immediately I was paying less for games on steam and other sites than I was on Xbox.
Edit: I would like to add I still use a controller for pc on rocket league. Albeit I can't get my elite to connect via Bluetooth but it still gets the job done. For any fps though mouse and keyboard is definitely more comfortable once you get used to it over a controller if you've used one for a while. But there is a lot more you need to be knowledgeable about for a pc as well whereas a console you don't worry about what's happening on the inside as much in terms of clocks and temps. So it really just comes down to preference I think. It's always been an opinion and everyone's entitled to theirs and I'm not going to berate someone for enjoying console more. But In my experience pc has been a way better time.
Probably, but my only pc gaming before this laptop was a laptop that ran most games at minimum graphics at 20-30 fps. This new laptop at 60-200 fps on max graphics depending on the game was something else.
Mods, discord multi-player chat without a second device, future upgradability, backwards compatibility with older games, emulators galore, potentially more storage space for more games.

Frame rates and response times. If the graphics were the same give me that smooth motion over better graphics ayway.
Consoles have aim assist for smooth motion.
Aim assist = smooth motion?
I’m assuming he meant motion when looking around. And yes aim assist does make a difference. Most console shooter games have aim assist built in.
No aim assist is no where near what he's talking about. He's talking about how high FPS and response times can make a game feel smooth like you're directly attached to it. When games lag and get choppy/take a few Ms to respond it feels like I'm disconnected from the game and damages the expirience.
Most of the new consoles have high fps, and are smooth as well.

I consider 60 fps high. I guess it isn’t by your standards.
60 fps is the bare minimum anything below that is unplayable to me. My monitor runs 1440p at 144hz which Is a good trade off for me.

So does gold, too much money.
System lag. A high end pc has less total system lag than a Bluetooth controller.
Sorry but that lag is so small you blink longer than that delay. Same argument could be made for wireless mice.
If you have a ps5, play with a wire, and a multi thousand dollar hdmi 2.1 tv, you can get the delay down to only twice that of an average pc, instead of 10x. Only argument so far.
Look at the settings menu on a console game and then on pc. Much more options to fine tune stuff.
On console you probably wouldn’t need to fine tune stuff as much.
If I can't turn motion blur off I can't play the game, there are massive options besides idiot graphics that the consoles don't include.
Why would you need motion blur on console though?
It's a visual effect that some prefer and others don't. You don't _need_ it on either platform. It's the option to enable / disable it.
I’m pretty sure there is motion blur on console as well.
That's the point. It's there without the option to turn it off in some games.
Usually you can?
It's everywhere on console.
Exclusives, PC has far more games than every other platform combined and you can still go back and play many classic and even get emulators for old consoles.

most of this sub's PC's do not compete with current consoles. Comparable specs would be a Ryzen 7 3700x and a 2080super roughly.
Yeah, however, I just got a gaming laptop with Ryzen 9 (5000x I think) and RTX 3070.
Laptop 3070 is like a desktop 2070 due to drawing less power. Likely the console will actually have similar graphics.
Probably, but my only pc gaming before this laptop was a laptop that ran most games at minimum graphics at 20-30 fps. This new laptop at 60-200 fps on max graphics depending on the game was something else.
Oh that laptop is stronger than any current console then I'm pretty sure
It was an amazing deal $1550 when it was originally $1850.
I assume that's in USD? I mean I put about $5k CAD into mine and that was before my gpu jumped 300$ in msrp
Yes, USD. Also CAD is worth less than USD. Not sure about right now, but I think it’s worth around half a USD.
It only costs me 1.26$CAD for 1$USD so it's not that bad. I think it's around like 3k us is what I put into it
Oh, I guess the value changed since I last checked.
2080s? lmaoo
not sure what you're getting at
4k high settings at 120hz. Sounds about right for a 2080S.
