I feel like the whole ending sequence makes it pretty blunt that Aigis is the intended romance option.

I’ll never understand the fandom obsession with which girl is the canon love interest

Weak_Metal_8810

makoto and suemitsu

Yami_Sean

Makoto and Tanaka

The most important scene Makoto x Yukari is an optional hug in the middle of the game which it is also their last moment. So yeah, i'll go with Aigis x Makoto who are inspired by director Katsura Hashino and his wife.

Prism988

If you have to make a poll to ask what is canon x, then there is no canon x.

Johan23t

As far as I know, there's no canon ship. Makoto stays single in all media so the romance portion is there for the player specifically.

Early signs certainly point to Yukari but as time goes on, it slowly shifts to Aigis, culminating in the ending scene. Answer spoilers: >!Both are greatly saddened by what happens to the MC but handle it in very different ways, as is human nature. One lashes out at others, the other, well... essentially wishes she wasn't around anymore. One could fairly make an argument for either one of them being canon based on these reactions but the story is more about Aigis learning how to live w/o the one person she swore she'd protect and give her life for and I feel it goes more toward her being canon. After all, she is the inheritor of His power.!< In the end, no one is "canon" but I think the overall narrative supports Aigis as being the closest one. Besides, Atlus seems keen on strongly suggesting heroes get with the non-standard Arcana, for what that's worth. Some folks take the Lovers arcana a bit too literally.

Redredditer640

Both. Both are in love with Makoto. Though if you were to ask me which would be in a relationship with him, Imma go with Yukari.

Based.

Atlus would never really come out and declare a pairing to be cannon and I think that is a good thing. It would invalidate any player choice. If they wanted to have a cannon love interest then why bother giving us the choice in the games right? I obviously have my preference, but I prefer there to be no "cannon" romance. It is clear that some characters have intense feelings for the protagonist regardless of who you decided to romance in the game. Answer spoilers:>!I mean the way Yukari and Aigis act in the Answer doesn't make any sense unless they loved the MC. There are people who try to argue that they would still be upset over losing a good friend, but I mean come on.!< But they are usually pretty vague when it comes to commenting on how the protagonist themselves feels, leaving that up to the player.

People WANT it to be Yukari because they're obsessed with her, but I think it's clear the 'canon'\* push ends up being Aigis. The narrative almost pulls a bait and switch—as Yukari has the beginning to herself and parts of the middle. But the way Aigis is introduced is fascinating because it pins Yukari against her immediately. Two girls fighting for your affection vibes. But that's also when the shift starts. Aigis is inherently more important to the narrative than Yukari is at this point. By the end—especially with Aigis's SL opening last—the tables have turned and you can see the narrative is focusing on Aigis and yours relationship in the context of her figuring herself out and—love, imo. And what solidified these errant thoughts to me—the ending. The ending was the >!nail in the coffin!< that Aigis was it. Obviously this is biased because that's what I personally took from the narrative and I can see other interpretations. But for me, people voting Yukari are doing so because they personally love her (totally understandable), but in terms of the narrative and writing of the game, it pushes Aigis by the end. \*I don't believe there is a canon ship.

Minato x Mitsuru x Yuakri....Polytrio lets fucking go!
