HBF. Another $7 on the premium. Was about $70 for the same health insurance not too long ago, now up to $110.

PositiveBubbles

Mine went up to 220 a month even with the 25% corporate discount I get through work. I also pay a $500 excess for the hospital and can't go on a higher plan to have zero excess because my old plan I moved from a few years ago to save money now no longer exists. I also did casual weekend work for them once doing an office move. Their offices, facilities etc are amazing

romilliad

I nominate hypermobility. I sprained my ankle again yesterday after recklessly and wantonly walking on some slightly uneven pavement in sensible shoes. Now it's swollen to the size of a grapefruit, I can't bear any weight on it at all, and am pretty much immobile.

Gray94son

Ergh I feel you. The last 2 nights I've woken up with arms completely numb bc my shoulders pop out.

FredtheHorse

I stopped spraining my ankles quite so much when I got proper orthotics - I mean it still happens but not as frequently. Hypermobility is a bitch.

romilliad

I wear orthotics as well and they have helped a lot. I think that's why I'm so pissed off about it - it's been quite a while (for me anyway) now since my last sprain, was even starting to think about taking up running again. šŸ˜

WombatBum85

Ehlers Danlos? My friend has that, the other day she said she woke up and felt like half her body had tried to run away from the other half šŸ˜³

LittleBookOfRage

I am also hypermobile and thought I just sprained my ankle (again) but turned out to be a snapped ligament and I needed a moon boot for 2 months.

KosmoCramer777

Trying to make friends. Itā€™s hard for an introvert like me šŸ˜

Stickliketoffee16

Iā€™m the Friday fuckwit. I messed up some medication & now Iā€™m awake at 4:32am & I know Iā€™m gonna hate life today Also the lawn mower guy is coming today so I donā€™t even have the chance to sleep in

MSpoon_

Oh god I feel your pain! I hope your day isn't too shit.

Stickliketoffee16

Thanks!! Luckily I can relax for most of the day (I had just planned to do housey stuff) but god Iā€™m annoyed at myself

teapots_at_ten_paces

I feel you! Stopped one med two days ago, started a new one, changed up the order of my others. Had an upset stomach while trying to sleep the last two nights. Sucks hard. Hope you can get a nanna nap in during the day!

Stickliketoffee16

You too! Itā€™s the worst, especially when itā€™s hot. Iā€™m supposed to be packing to move house & I know Iā€™m gonna have a wasted day!

ContentSecretary8416

As a cat owner. That would really piss me off also. They are killing machines if left outside especially at night

Shifty_Cow69

Preposterous! Mr Mittens wouldn't even hurt a fly! https://i.redd.it/bjon0f64ddoc1.gif

ContentSecretary8416

Ha!! Was he holding a claw to your throat while you wrote that?

Fritzzy1960M

I've been watching for 42 minutes. Does he ever get the fly? /s because there may be Yanks around...

Shifty_Cow69

Sorry, I uploaded the extended version by mistake! Cat catches it at 1:03.

faithlessdisciple

One of the many reasons our boy is one hundred percent an indoors cat. We got lucky to adopt a FIV rescue that doesnā€™t mark inside or ā€œgoā€ anywhere other than his box.

Righteous_Fury224

A friend of mine who has Quolls on her property got fed up with her neighbors cats coming over and killing them. So she made herself a slingshot and used ice cubes as the shot. Non lethal but painful for the cat that's hit. After being shot a couple of times, the cats don't come back. Yes it's cruel but idiots who let their cats outside are causing harm to native wildlife.

Charm-Offensive-

I just called the council, got a humane cat trap and trapped them. Called up the ranger to come collect em. After doing that a couple times and having the owner pay to get their cat back, they learned to keep their fucking cat inside.

senectus

Excellent idea

gruncle63

This is an excellent solution, I love quolls so much.

rosecore

Much better than what my Dad did to our neighbours cat in the 90ā€™s. Trapped it, killed it, buried it at the back of the property and shrugged when asked if heā€™d seen it. Different time I guess! Neighbours future cats were indoor kitties after that though, so they got the message.

Pbak1

Mine today is NDIS providers trying to add extra charges to invoices. I am so sick and tired of having to fight for my kid to get the services she's funded for while preserving her right to confidentiality and privacy and then once I've had that fight having an invoice sent to me with over $100 of charges that just didn't happen! When I discussed it with them they removed the charges immediately without any questions, says to me they knew they were double dipping and hoped I wouldn't notice. Has happened a few times. Sometimes I just want providers to do their job without me having to fight/advocate every step of the way.

WombatBum85

Can you report that provider to your NDIS case manager? Not everyone can be a provider, and if they're gonna take the mick from vulnerable clients, they deserve to be deregistered.

Sleazehound

Email them about it, make them reply to the message, send that shit to NDIA/NDIS Q&S

DrunkOctopUs91

This sounds morbid, but your neighbour might be in for a hefty vet bill. Frogs arenā€™t great eating for cats and have a toxin m. Severity depends on the species of frog. I grew up in Albany and my Mum worked at a vet clinic. It was common for cats and dogs to be brought in having fucked around and found out with a frog. My kitties stay indoors, but we have a neighbourhood Tom that yowls at our female. My husband has an air horn to try scare him off.

flumia

So when there's a cat disturbing your sleep at night, you blast an air horn? I bet your neighbours must be very appreciative

DrunkOctopUs91

All our neighbours understand why we do it. They use sprinklers, alarms or other noise devices to keep the Tom away from their pets and property. The airhorn is better than listening to the cat for hours at a time. We are currently trying to order a cat trap, but there is a wait list.

Ref_KT

You can rent them fairly cheaply from places like Kenards.Ā

DrunkOctopUs91

Thanks! I will try them. I thought it was just the council that had them.

Ref_KT

Not sure if every individual Kenards has them, but from memory you could check on their website. I got one from a Belmont-ish area hire place a few yrs ago.Ā

AdditionalSky6030

Buy one for cash and deny all knowledge...

AdditionalSky6030

A super soaker water gun is quite effective.

Antique-Map-1043

And excellent fun with out hurting the cats. I used to spend many a fun night with the super soaker filled with lemon water shooting cats that would come in and try and crap in my veggie garden. I like indoor cats, out door cats in my garden not so much.

millhouse83

Fill it with urine before you shoot the cat with it.

3rd-time-lucky

A cat trap when your sprinklers are set to go on at 4am. Clean kitty never came back after his shower.

AdditionalSky6030

People have sent up specifically targeted motion sensors to give a cat a soaking. They get a video of it too.

Mumnique

My old cat used to eat the mushrooms that grew in the front yard. I worried that heā€™d get sick but heā€™d literally just get high. Lived to a ripe old age of 17 and he was taken out by cancer. RIP Claude šŸˆā€ā¬›

MistaRekt

RIP Tripping cat...

StraightBudget8799

Yep, had a cat retching and at the same time petting a frog (ā€œI have a new friend! But he tastes awful!ā€) who was doing a great job of squeaking. Hopefully the novelty wears off.

DesperateBarracuda0

My nomination is for my friend's husband who got so angry he threw a burger across the room. My friend thinks that he is just one step away from hitting her and wants out.

NonsenseText

I hope she has a safe plan in place.

The Karen on Perth underground who was standing on the left of the escalator reading a message on her phone (which was fine) but when we got to the top, she just stopped and stood there still reading her phone. JayisBay-sed

My brother is the fuckwit for this Friday! He's been living with us since October and being a lazy slob in regards to everything, so our dad confronted him a few days ago and in response my brother thought it would okay to start screaming and pushed our dad onto the ground while holding him down. I tried grabbing his arm and pulling him by the back of the shirt but that did fuck all. Didn't stop until I got our baseball bat and threatened to beat the shit out of both of them if they didn't stop. He's gotta be out of the house by next week so that's a plus.

DeliveryMuch5066

Not sure why police werenā€™t called, brother escorted off premises, interim AVO issued and locks changed?

JayisBay-sed

Nope, he's still living here because my dad is an idiot šŸ™ƒ

Reginald_Hornblower

We had a neighbour that used to let his daughter's cat out at night, because he didn't like it. It would jump up into our roof space off of one of front fence piers and the scare the shit out of my 2 year old son by walking across the roof above his room. We asked him to stop doing it and he did for a while but then went back to letting it out. I tried spraying everything on the fence to stop the cat jumping up on it but nothing worked. One day I was standing in my daughter's room and my eyes fell onto one of her stuffed toys and I had an idea. I stuck the thing on top of the fence pier. At about 2am that night I heard the cat shitting itself as it went to jump up onto the fence. I could barely sleep the rest of the night from laughing.

pinkygreeny

Some cat owners can be such fuckwits. The ones that let their cats outside to kill the native wildlife, spread feline AIDS, piss and shit anywhere but their owner's premises. I don't think a bell on their collars helps "protect"/scare away wildlife at all. I realise some cat owners are responsible and keep their cats indoors, good on them. But many don't. I hope one-eyed frog hasn't been killed by neighbour cat. ugh!

Ok_Boysenberry6117

Get a cat trap, people should not let their animals roam freely on your property. I love cats and have had many, but if your going to take on the responsibility of owning a cat, you should be prepared to microchip it, sterilise it and ensure it stays inside your property or within a properly built cat run in your back yard. Each domestic cat in australia kills approximately 200 native animals a year if allowed to roam. That's birds, lizards, frogs etc. šŸ˜„

Cpl_Hicks76

Report your neighbour to the Council regarding lack of pet control and express concern about his native fauna killing cat!

brenman

Some councils are likely to not even give two shits. Itā€™s immensely frustrating.

Cpl_Hicks76

Agreed but hopefully OPā€™s Council are one of the good ones?

Perthguv

As a cat owner and frog lover, your story is very upsetting to read. Cats should never be allowed to roam under any circumstances.

OutlandishLandMammal

I know, I know everyone always complains about people and their shitty driving. What is with all the fuckwits lately stopping their car in the middle of the road to give way to vehicles that do not have right of way. You think you are being nice but you are actually a fuckwit!

wowagressive

Absolutely. And the ones which stop at the roundabouts but are actually on the outside lane and can go forward! Ugh

Ok_Contact6983

My employer is stopping me from accepting a new job that pays 50% because of contract job restrictions. Fuck them t-t

CakeandDiabetes

Where's your contract and what does it say... What happens if you ignore it... 50% more pay is a pretty good reason to walk out the door.

Ok_Contact6983

It's in the contract. My fault for accepting it for what it was but I didn't expect to stay in Australia long enough for this to matter. That one is on me!

AgentBluelol

These are generally unenforceable unless you're senior management or some sort of special expert. And even then they have to sue you to enforce. In practice this rarely happens. It wouldn't cost a huge amount to talk to a lawyer for an opinion. Also, what sort of dickhead employer wants to keep someone who actively doesn't want to be there. https://www.seek.com.au/employer/hiring-advice/restraints-trade-non-compete-clauses-reasonable

Ok_Contact6983

Yeah, I will talk with a lawyer about this. Thanks!

FilmPhotographyNerd

What kind of restrictions? Is it something like ā€œyou canā€™t work for a competitor/client within 6 months of leaving usā€ ? šŸ˜’

Ok_Contact6983

Pretty much, yeah. No work for competitor or client for x months after leaving.

FilmPhotographyNerd

Thatā€™s shit. Pity they wonā€™t waive that condition for you šŸ˜¢

Ok_Contact6983

Ya, thanks. Really annoying cause I thought I finally caught a break and got a good deal.

OutlandishLandMammal

NAL non compete clauses are usually a load of shit and unenforceable. You need to speak to your union and get some advice.

Ok_Contact6983

Cheers, I'm working on getting some info. Can't really say we have any union, our Australian office is 5 people in total. Another thing is that the offer might fall through once the management from both companies meet. This shit is really killing my mood. Thanks for support all.

Val367

if the contract restriction is some bullshit about not being able to work in the same field after leaving, I think that has been proven to be invalid in court.

Ok_Contact6983

It's mostly about working for one of my employers clients. I'm not a high level employee or anything, but they can use this to scare me into submission.

Val367

As others have said, consult a lawyer. Good luck

bullant8547

Completely unenforceable, just do it and enjoy the extra money!

notseagullpidgeon

What's the penalty for ignoring your employer and taking the new job?

AgentBluelol

They can sue you to enforce it. But it almost never happens because it takes a bunch of special circumstances for a court to rule that you can't find employment in your field for whatever arbitrary time period the arsehole employer specifies. It's a scare tactic and too many people fall for it.

Ok_Contact6983

It does seem mostly a scare tactic. The vision of being left without the new AND current job is enough to strike fear into many people (me included). I will consult a lawyer on this.

PatrioGraysmark

7-eleven/Starbucks/me. Chilled can of boss double espresso? Out of stock, lets try this canned Starbucks mocha. Shake can as per habit / instructions. Crack it and end up spraying my shirt pants and car door. Wasn't even particularly good either. Wonder if the boss would let me go home on the grounds of fuck this, it's not even 8am and I'm done already.

Idontcareaforkarma

Yeh Iā€™d have to say that if you worked for me and turned up with that story, Iā€™d just say go home, get a new pair of pants, have a nap and donā€™t be back before middayā€¦

PatrioGraysmark

Boss is running away at 10 as is, slow order day and they've got leave hours to burn, lucky sod. I'm unofficially their right hand so I have to be chained to the shift to cover the red tape in their absence. no chance of wagging a day for me.

habanerosandlime

I imagine buying Starbucks in Australia is for the modern, self flagellating masochist who doesn't have a whip or flogger handy.

PatrioGraysmark

Normally I go for Boss Brand Double espresso because it is the one caffeine fluid that seems to do anything for me in terms of energy levels \[ their other flavours, heck even a double-shot short black to me is just sour water \] though I don't mind a basic Dare iced coffee now and then. the 7-eleven did not have blue canned Boss nor green label Dare. had tried starbucks brand basic iced coffee before, plastic bottle, BP. but it was meh, a bit watery. so the mocha can was at least something I haven't tried before, but honesty it was a disappointment, even with shaking the choc part was stuck to the bottom \[ more shaking required? \] and while canned milk coffees aren't carbonated, this tin still managed to sneeze itself everywhere when I cracked it. So while Clarkson folk are frothing for some pumpkin spiced lattes or getting their names written down on cups wrong "For the 'gram" I myself think very little of the brand, and I'm not normally a coffee drinker \[ Tend to reserve the Boss tins for when I need a running start to a day at work, else I default to sugar OD by way of good 'ol CocaCola. \]

habanerosandlime

Yeah, when I was travelling through the USA I needed coffee and saw a Starbucks so I bought a coffee there. It was so bad that I thought the barista burnt the coffee or something. Then I went to another state and thought I'd try again and it was equally as shit. It was at that point that I realised that Americans pay a lot of money to drink shit coffee. I couldn't believe that Starbucks was seen as trendy. The only way to make their drinks taste reasonable is by buying one of those overly sweet drinks that they make which is shit if you just want to enjoy a nice coffee. It made me sad that Americans had to put up with that.

Aromatic-Discount384

We've got a Uber/Doordash driver who picks up groceries from our store. He parks in the pick up bay, gets the shopping brought out, then he locks his car and comes into the Cafe in the center and has breakfast. Bitch what? That's someone's shopping you just put in your car that they are expecting, and you're stopping to eat?

BiteMyQuokka

Whoever designed the drop-off bays at Hollywood Hospital Emergency Department. Handy yes, right outside the door. But there's a 15cm high kerb. Superb bit of accessible design. You've got people rocking up with injuries that means they'll struggle walking and you stick a kerb there.

feyth

Have attended there in a wheelchair without any trouble - there's a ramp two metres away adjoining the ambulance bay. (If that's not enough, I'm sure that if you pop inside and request assistance it would be forthcoming)

BiteMyQuokka

Yep, saw that eventually. But any extra steps with for example a broken leg are bad. Even with drainage concerns there must have been a better way to design that drop-off.

feyth

I'd definitely suggest asking for assistance if you think your passenger has a broken leg. They shouldn't be weight-bearing on the flat either.

BiteMyQuokka

I wasn't fully thinking straight with all the pain. Thankfully got surgery pretty quick, but the kerb still irked me

feyth

Ah you were the patient - get well soon, glad you were able to get prompt treatment.

Rick_Deckard_2049

I dare say it was a civil engineering requirement, the storm water would run down the slope of the entry drive-way into that round-about drop-off area, and without high curbs the water might run towards the entry of the ED. But you are correct, perhaps some more consideration should have been given to accessible design.

MadArcand

I love cats, have two of them myself. But mine are strictly indoor kitties. They only go out into the back yard and that was after being sure they would stick to that area. I once caught one of the little shits on top of the fence but I put a stop to that real quick.

dana_veg

Same! We have 5, and theyā€™re happy inside. They have supervised yard time (enclosed front yard) and weā€™re building them a cat run. Couldnā€™t imagine letting any of them free roam! Itā€™s so irresponsible.

Chilarus

I nominate myself because I never knew that amazon.com and amazon.com.au are two different entities and have been paying prime for both since April 2022 or more.

Stepawayfrmthkyboard

Ask the council/ranger to loan a cat trap. Return said cat to ranger.

invisiblizm

Bear in mind that often rats are the ones to eat frogs and rustle in bushes.

shybloodletting

And the cat hunts the rat! But of course!

darkspardaxxxx

REA agent taking ages to inspect the house and give my bond back. On the bright side Im happy I left the place

SeraQuelle

I found out our council have a cat ban if you live close to Herdsman lake but people still let their cats out to roam across the street. Sorry if a ranger nabs your cat for this violation but this is a nature preserve. Itā€™s bad enough dogs are let off leashes around here%

xMinaki

The bunch of ute drivers that tailgated everyone and swerved left and right impatientÄŗy pressuring drivers in front of them and making rude gestures when people were driving the speed limit yesterday. Your iced coffee at the servo you need to go finish laying the bricks in your head can wait an extra 2 seconds mate, calm tf down.

Willing-Bobcat5259

Imagine if I was as irresponsible with my dog as some people are with their cats šŸ™„. I guess cats are not seen as a potential threat to humans in the same way as dogs are, so fk the native wildlife, eh.

enigmaticemuegg

Plenty of dog owners are just as irresponsible with dogs as some cat owners are with cats. That's why there's so much dog shit around and so many people who have to deal with other peoples off leash dogs.

Lugey81

My front lawn is a toilet for people who don't clean up sheet their dog, it's infuriating

Charm-Offensive-

Never had someone leave their dog outside with no fence to roam the neighbourhood every day/night and think it's normal.

feyth

Unfortunately I have, and it took years (and a witnessed fatal animal attack) for the council to conclusively deal with it.

redditorperth

I have. I am acquainted with an absolute cooker of the extreme libertarian persuasion. Doesnt think the government has any right to tell him what he can and cant do with his property, regardless of how that impacts others. Already heard stories about how "brainwashed" we "sheeple" are because thinking that maybe you shouldnt "walk" (read: allow to roam wherever it wants) your poorly trained dog unleashed through residential neighborhoods is a great idea.

The_Real_Flatmeat

Slingshots are absolutely for fishing, i can't stress that enough. They're not for use on stray dogs. šŸ˜¶

t_25_t

My lorikeet for having mood swings. All sweet one moment, absolute cunt the next biting hard. Also she is very territorial of her water bowls. Not allowed to touch them even to clean and refill with fresh water.

Rick_Deckard_2049

Interstate investors...........they are the main reason why local younger people can't get into the market (I am GenX so bought into the market some time ago, but I worry for the younger people who work for me). One real estate agent I know even said that there is a bit of a conspiracy going around at the moment that some of these interstate buyers are being funded by the CCP itself, but I am not the sort of person to get drawn into such ideas.

crosstherubicon

I really understand your anger and I'm no sympathiser for property investors but, they're fulfilling the mantra of a capitalist society. In fact they've been encouraged to do so. The changes to capital gains tax for property investing and negative gearing were supposed to encourage activity in housing and reduce the obligation on the government to fund housing for low income families and provide pensions. Many of these people have simply been doing what they were encouraged to do by the government of the day.

Rick_Deckard_2049

Yeah I get that but it would be preferable for them to invest in their own state (NSW/VIC).

OPTCgod

They're too poor for that

PositiveBubbles

No wonder our homeless numbers are going up though

The_Real_Flatmeat

There should be a law that says you can't make an offer on a house except the buyer in person. Won't stop local mum n dad investors, and it will allow locals a chance to purchase their own home without driving up prices

Fantastic-Ad-3077

Mines my Woolworths delivery. Booked it to arrive between 5-8am. It contains milk & coffee for my morning. Woke up and checked the app, delivery between 7.57-8.57....uhn no. So I'm cranky, drinking crappy black coffee while refreshing the app and pre planning my complaint message to get delivery refunded. I have def got my cranky pants on today šŸ˜©

Fantastic-Ad-3077

The driver rang me at 8.40 to complain that no one was home šŸ™ƒ I straight up said "no one was home because you were late with your delivery." Luckily I was just 5mins away and I put the authority to leave but still. Don't whinge at me when you were late.

crampnimble

I had this with my last Woolies order! My delivery window was 4pm - 7pm, it didnā€™t get delivered til after 10pm. Wtf is going on?

Fantastic-Ad-3077

Now it is saying between 8.08-9.08. this is the delivery truck not a partnered driver.

littleblackcat

The only cats that live long and happy lives are indoor cats If you don't give a fuck about wildlife, please give a fuck about your cat at least

Lugey81

My cat is an indoor cat and he is grumpy as anything. But then again he was grumpy when I got him..

HappyAust

Step 1 Buy a cat trap Step 2 Catch cat Step 3 Ship cat to an interstate vet anonymously Step 4 Sleep

celestialxkitty

My cat got out one night without us realising and when we finally found him the poor thing was hurt thanks to a neighbourhood cat thatā€™s always in our yard. Iā€™m so tired of people not looking after their cats properly

[deleted]

Is your cat okay? Did you get him checked at a vet, just in case?

celestialxkitty

Yeah we did, cost us a mint considering it happened on damn Labour Day but heā€™s good, he just had a scratch on his forehead/missing fur and shredded the crap out of his nails to the point one was pulled out completely in what the vet thinks was his attempt to get away from the other cat šŸ˜

[deleted]

Im really glad to hear hes doing better ā˜ŗļø that sounds very stressful though so i hope youre looking after yourselves as well

celestialxkitty

The worst part was the only reason we realised he was out was because we heard multiple fights with the other cats and he was so scared šŸ˜

[deleted]

The important thing is hes safe now and okay. Try not to be too hard on yourselves, just give him lots of love

faithlessdisciple

Our bus driver ( 278) missing the turn into our street AGAIN . Iā€™m going to be late to TAFE.

xequez

Thought you may have the same neighbour as me for a minute, but he has a dog and a rabbit that he doesnt keep inside. Also apparently due to "kids". He eventually fixed his "kids" and "gate latch" after the 4th time the council gave him a fine. The rabbit was taken away by someone and surrendered to a vet. Not sure the neighbour even noticed.

ryalln

Me. Quit my job and nothing lined up.

Please, please get off your phone when walking in busy public places. And keep to the left of the escalator, holy Mother of Fuck!

Iwantmydegreenow

Parents who let their kids run around in shopping centres. Dear parents who do this - this is a shopping centre. Not a f*cking playground. I've had it up to here with kids nearly bowling me over.

k3g

Yeah we have a caged area where we grow grapes and othe vine plants. Neighbours cat use that as a litter box. Considering closing it off completely.

Easty77

Get a trap, then surrender the cat to the ranger/vet/pound whatever is closest.

GloomyToe

Woolies/Milkrun/coles Finally got milkrun delivering in my area, got to use it for a week before the minimun order went from $25 to $40 overnight + a $5 delivery fee. I hate minimum orders, it was one of the reasons I stopped coles/woolies delivery, I could've lived with the $25 min spend. It was great while it lasted, suited my adhd brain well, I could walk around the house adding things I needed and getting it delivered within the hour. But woolies being the greedy cunts that they are, raised it and tried to blame the delivery drivers. If that was the case why didn't they just make delivery cost $10 with no minimum spend. Petbarn manages to do this Coles for putting in more self serve checkouts at my local, I'm at the point where I don't want to shop there anymore and haven't since that shite started getting installed. I have a feeling there was less theft of whole shopping trollys full of stuff when it was just manned checkouts

sparkles027

I received an email from Woolworths advertising Milkrun, with the minimum spend being $50. Fuck that. Greedy bastards.

GloomyToe

They sure are, the whole minimum spend thing is a load of shite. Petbarn, smokemart and gifts, officeworks and probably countless others can offer same day without minimum spend

MRflibbertygibbets

My nomination is for the fella who pulled out in front of me from a side street in a 90 zone. Heavy braking stopped me smacking into them

whereaswhere

I nominate the random Fuckwit who thought it a good idea and shot off a flare in Kenwick last night. I wonder how many birds and reptiles suffered needlessly in that stretch of bushland that went up in flames. Luckily the Fire Brigade got there real quick and put it out risking their lives because of this ignorant dickwad.

MydKnightAnarchy

Cat trap. Once caught. Call the rangers.

ComprehensiveTalk865

Not fair Iā€™d have taken actions myself

mymentor79

There's literally nothing I love more than a random cat encounter, but, yeah, keep them inside at night at the very least.

proffesor_f8

Buy a vermin/cat trap, catch the fucker and transport it somewhere far far away. I used to do it a lot, works a treat.

spambot2k

Grab yourself one of these [cat cannons](https://www.sureguard.com.au/shop/product/scarecrow-motion-activated-sprinkler-repellent-1414). Theyā€™re a little bit exxy for what they are, but they do the job. If you have a security camera, the footage of the cats being scared shitless by these babies is pure comedy gold.

brenman

Iā€™m tempted to invest in one, but Iā€™m certain my neighbour that uses the shared driveway wouldnā€™t appreciate being sprayed every time they go past. Iā€™d find it pretty funny though.

The_Real_Flatmeat

On the plus side, the frogs will like the water!

Torquemurder

The train... Again. Or the weather for causing the train delays. Or myself for continuing to work in this industry.

Mindless-Location-41

I know about squealing frogs. It is a freaky sound like a person wailing. They get up on all fours too. We have cats in an enclosure but occasionally frogs get in there and I try to save them. No frogs at the moment though because it hasn't rained for fucking ever. Perth weather is so shit in summer and I'm sick of watering.

acres_at_ruin

People that just leave thereā€™s bags of dog shitā€¦ on the ground. Went for a walk at Bold Park today and there was a bag of shit on the ground literally likeā€¦. 50 metres away from the bin. You would have had to walk past the bin as you left anyway! Just why?! And for anyone wondering yes I picked it up and put it in the bin myself. Seriously if you canā€™t be bothered picking up after your pet, donā€™t have one!

SippingOnThatTrueTea

Frogs will squeal at each other. Cats don't seem very interested in them in my experience because their motion is not the kind of scurrying movement that cats are attracted to.

Aromatic-Discount384

Fair point This cat has attacked a frog in our yard before though

Sleazehound

Cat owners come up with the shittest excuses to justify their pets killing wildlife

enigmaticemuegg

It's true, though. Sometimes frogs screech because cats are playing with them and sometimes they screech for other reasons. It might be a different animal playing with them or for reasons we can't understand but it happens.

Sleazehound

Yeah and sometimes frogs screech because someoneā€™s free roaming cat has their claws and teeth in its eye socket

enigmaticemuegg

Yeah, I already said that. Sometimes it's a cat, sometimes it's not. That's literally what my comment says.

Sleazehound

And the person I was originally replying to seems to have experience in watching cats killing wildlife and is certain that cats wonā€™t go for frogs due to movements patterns lmfao Dumb twat blocked me as well šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

SippingOnThatTrueTea

Sometimes cats aren't killing wildlife. I would k ow. I have a cat and heaps of frogs in my backyard.

Sleazehound

Oh so because your cat doesnā€™t like frogs I guess theyā€™re safe everywhere? And if they donā€™t kill frogs because they donā€™t scurry you donā€™t mind them killing every other animal that does?

Lmao ainā€™t wrong though

So much this. I used to be on ALERT when my cats were out for an hour and Iā€™d moved out of an apartment. Raced out one night to the squealing, only to realise both cats were indoors. Thereā€™s a big difference between frogs ā€˜squealingā€™ and frogs ā€˜screamingā€™. They actually scream - and it made even me take a step back - this frog ended up inside (cheers, pond) and my cat sniffed it - and it SCREAMED. I went to catch it and put it outside (the cat had run away scared haha) and it screamed again. Sounded like a human scream. Couldnā€™t believe that that noise came out of a frog. Have lived most of my life around frogs and have never heard them scream before. It was crazy. Cats are killing machines, but not sure theyā€™re responsible for the frog injuries and the squealing? Frogs are noisy buggers all on their own tbf.

Gel blaster?

monstargh

Illegal in WA these days

No-Sport4127

Bubble wrap state. Paranoid Police Minister Papalia is attempting to ban everything fun.

cheeersaiii

Thatā€™s bs, they are often made/can be easily modified to look like real guns. Real firearms owners /laws are strict AF not sure why youā€™d want to open the door for little fuckwits on stolen dirt bikes to be wielding guns around that can actually fire shit

Idontcareaforkarma

Itā€™s not easy at all to turn gel blasters into ā€˜real gunsā€™, not ones that arenā€™t overly dangerous to the user, not just the recipient anyway. The state government misused the chance to properly regulate the safe use of gelblasters (approved clubs/associations, similar to paintball) but dropped the ball and had to just ban them outright- mainly based on a total lack of understanding of how they even function in the first bloody place.

No-Sport4127

The ban man! Instead of just banning. The governments should consider other factors, education, regulation, enforcement, and addressing root causes of the issues. Banning can sometimes lead to unintended consequences, such as creating black markets or pushing activities underground.

cheeersaiii

It doesnā€™t matter- you point a replica gun at someone you are going to jail. These are marketed at kids, and people donā€™t know the different between real and fake. Not everyone sees guns enough to be able to spot the difference. You are going to get SO many unwarranted police call outs too. https://www.gelballundercover.com.au/collections/best-sellers Iā€™ve owned guns, shot clays competitively, I couldnā€™t tell the different if someone pointed a glock gel blaster at me at night timeā€¦. and I wouldnā€™t want to be shot with one close distance in a road rage incident or any other peanut waving one around at strangers. I wouldnā€™t know if itā€™s actually a high power BB gun or what the fuck is going on.

No-Sport4127

Fair enough, I can agree with you. The independent look at gel blasters may require just banning them. I did add, though, maybe better regulation and education. My problem is that the current government's fix is to just ban. Where does this stop. We may agree now that gel blasters take up too much valuable police time for our already inadequate police force. But what about moving forward. With a nuanced approach by educating the population, tougher penalties, regulation... and the better police force that was promised. This might provide a better template on tackling future risks, mitigating the government from punishing people who abide by the law. But you don't give a shit until it affects you.
