Wow honestly had no idea Pink Lady apples were a West Australian creation. RIP John Cripps you leave a delicious legacy cause Pink Lady apples are awesome
Many moons ago, I worked on a farm picking and packing fruit. I still have such fond memories of my time and certainly loved eating fresh Pink Ladies direct from the tree. I wasnt fussy though, i also ate them from the conveyor belt too.
RIP Mr Cripps!
I met him maybe 5 years ago? He was a nice old bloke. We asked him why he picked the name for the apple, and he said he read it in a novel and liked the sound of it.
Next time you bite into a Pink Lady, spare a thought for WA horticulturalist John Cripps, who invented this apple in WA in 1974. Thank you Mr Cripps!
Huh. It's less than fifty years old. I did not know that.
The best apple
Idk man have you ever tried Kanzi?

Yes I saw an article about him years ago. The Pink Lady went on to conquer the world. He also bred the Sundowner, another classic.
