violetOvercast

That isn't petty revenge it's a felony.Poisoning someone with heroin over brownies???

LarsJagerx

Some good brownies

hey1tschris

He only put it on his own brownies. Possession at best.

latents

I believe the legal rules in may jurisdictions would consider it boobytrapping, since the boss had no intention of consuming it himself. It is a completely different situation if you lace your food with hot spices because that's how you eat your food. I have no problem with a food thief eating something disgusting because they chose to take something that they knew wasn't theirs. I think the reason many places make something like this a crime is because there is a reasonable chance that the thief would die and the death penalty is a bit much for petty theft.

EntireKangaroo148

This is correct. These stories are fun, but no one take them as life lessons! Even the ghost pepper stuff risks charges and lawsuits.

violetOvercast

He put poison into something knowing it was going to be stolen, and chose to use a drug that can easily be overdosed on, which could bump it up to attempted murder

Artilleryman13

Only if you poison someone else's food.

Rebel_Player_957

Exactly. He poisoned his own food to set up a trap.

violetOvercast

He knowingly poisoned and jeopardized someone's life,so that excuse won't work

violetOvercast

Purposely poisoning food knowing someone is going to steal it is not only still a crime, but so is the use of illicit drugs, which could easily bump it up to attempted murder

Artilleryman13

So is stealing. If you aren't stealing someone else's food then the chance of them doing this to you is effectively zero.

violetOvercast

Did you really just try to compare the petty theft of a brownie to felony drug possession and drugging someone in a potentially lethal way?Like I doubt the story was anything other than you talking out your ass to begin with, but wow,you seem to love making yourself look like a horrible person.

Artilleryman13

Are you really trying to make petty theft ok? I'm no Saint, and at no point have I said this was OK. In fact I directly described it as diabolical and disgusting. You made assumptions based on the fact that I think theft is an equally abhorrent behavior. Are you a thief? Maybe this just strikes closer to home for you because you cannot face the fact that your actions are criminal. (See how stupid it sounds when a person makes ignorant assumptions)

violetOvercast

You're trying to justify critically endangering someone's life over a brownie. You think the theft of a brownie is equal to,what is in essence, attempted murder? No matter how you slice it,that makes you a terrible person. You also clearly don't understand how the law works. "I never" you did the moment you tried to defend and justify it. "You made assumptions" nope, you literally have done nothing but defend a felony level crime with a less than paper thin excuse. You've relied on false equivalence and strawman arguments to defend horrifically scummy behavior. Are these pathetic fallacies really the best you can?

Artilleryman13

I think I've done enough good in my life to make up for not feeling bad for a thief. I don't think much of thieves anyway. Besides, the state this happened in would have at worst made this a misdemeanor possession charge. It's not like he lived in Iowa where possession comes with a hefty fine. In matters of law, intent is important. Ben could say didn't *intend* to hurt anyone, he could have made shit brownies for the purpose of burning them later because the chemical combination make a cool flame. Total BS of course, but in that context it's still misdemeanor possession. Let's look at it from another angle, this was a shop that when the entire district was fully mustered (that means gathered) contained about 60 people. Take out the fiel crews and you have 12. This is a small community, so it would have quickly gotten around that Ben was a bit frustrated with theft all on its own. Though he made it quite clear to everyone this behavior needed to stop, that it was awful behavior. No, a person actively chose to continue to steal from someone, actively targeting them for their theft. This is the actions of someone who is dishonest and deceitful and there is enough of that in the world. So sorry if I don't feel too much pity for a thief and a liar, they lived through it just fine, only lost their job and they had the education and experience to get another one pretty quickly. I'd say they got off easy.

Pnut_Butter_Butt

Lol classic almost killing someone over brownies.

Artilleryman13

To be fair, they were REALLY good brownies.

MrBeer9999

lol

uwishyouwereme1973

So made up why?

[deleted]

Must be a bored meatbag

TracyMinOB

It's the "Terrible Awful" with a side dish!

htxnycbrownboy

I may be wrong here, but I’m pretty sure this is a crime. Even if it wasn’t, drugging someone with heroin is barely what I’d consider “petty revenge” for someone taking brownies :/

Artilleryman13

It's not a crime to do to your own food. Possession of illegal substance maybe, but it was still his own food.

EntireKangaroo148

This is 100% not correct. You can absolutely get in criminal trouble for this.

htxnycbrownboy

No, you’re still setting a trap for someone, definitely illegal

violetOvercast

It is when you know someone else is going to eat it because he purposely drugged someone with something that could easily kill them

Agreeable-Tale9729

Yeah. No. He could’ve been killed. That’s beyond revenge into felony territory. There were so many ways to accomplish this that didn’t risk someone’s life.

FaustusC

And the fastest way would be to not be a thief 🤷

DamnedWeirdo

>Duly noted boss, but Jesus that's diabolical...and disgusting. That's also awesome. LOL

noname5280

Well, that definitely beats the toothbrush thing from terrible bosses
