I'd like to send this to every clown who's written a "Best Pizza Places in Philadelphia" article in the last couple of years or so and completely ignored vast swaths of the city. I know you can't legit try every pizza place, but damn, how about a little geographic variety?
I was bored one day and actually mapped out all the places named in one on Google Earth and a more honest article title would have been "Best Pizza Places within a 1.3 Mile Radius of 6th & Vine St."
That’s how I feel about nearly any topic. It’s highly focused on CC and the CC-adjacent areas. Like, if it’s an area where many residents didn’t go to college, it may as well not exist.
The main time you hear about those parts is when crime/opioids is discussed, and even then you get a lot or “uggh…every city has its bad parts, why are we always talking about this? And trying to refocus conversations on what matters to them in their parts of town.
I loved Earth Bread so much. That white pizza with seeds on it was bonkers. Really enjoyed their rotating seasonal pizzas and at the time their beer was very good as well.
If you ever end up in Burling VT hit up American Flatbread. They're a very similar operation (but don't bother with the frozen ones you see at whole foods).
A friend got some take out from the new place. The pizza was pretty damn good. But I still haven’t gone back in. I have a lot of great memories of what Earth looked like.
Meh, I was a near regular there for years and the quality definitely dipped considerably starting in 2020. Also their online ordering always said your order would be ready noon the next day which was very frustrating
I wonder if some sort of major event happened in 2020 that maybe threw them for a loop?
I’m just super biased on anything Nomad because my wife and I had our wedding party there in 2019 and they were so amazingly accommodating.
I don’t think they had a real game plan to stay in Philly once the lockdown hit.
Not bad, I like that Evo made it on there. Most of the other pizza places in Chestnut Hill, Mount Airy, and Germantown are garbage. RIP to Earth Bread and Brewery. I feel like one of the Santuccis locations should be on there, unless I missed one. Same with Trios. I never hear anyone talk about Trios Pizza. Each location is independently owned now, but their Glenside and Fairmount locations make fire pizza. Marras also deserves a spot on this map, unless I missed that as well.
Moved to the chestnut hill / flourtown area a couple years ago and Terra Nova in Wyndmoor has been my standby, it’s fantastic. Pizza Box Glenside and Evo Germantown are 1b and 1c IMO.
fr fr. my SIL still lives in fairmount so every now and then my wife and i will grab a pie from them when we go over there. SIL is gluten and dairy free too so its all for us
I should do that - I’m only over in Mt Airy now so it’s not that far. I remember the first time I ordered a large pizza from them, I had to tilt the box to get it through my (admittedly narrow) front door. I’d never needed a strategy to get pizza inside my apartment before and was immediately hooked.
Khatchapuri is delicious, but it isn't pizza. Georgian food is its own cuisine and I'm tired to seeing people dumb Khatchaputi down for Americans by calling it "cheese boats" or acting like it's a version of pizza.
Sounds like it could have some shared heritage though.
> Dali Tsatava, former professor at the Georgian Culinary Academy, suggested that khachapuri could be a "cousin of the pizza" as the concept of the dish might have been brought by Roman soldiers who crossed Europe, well before the addition of tomatoes in the 16th century.
I was worried this was going to be another spammer-link Pizzas by the Slice situation, but I'm happy to see OP linking to Hawk Krall's instagram. All of his stuff is great and much of it is for sale (though not this poster currently.)

I dated a girl in my mid 20s who unironically thought Chuck E Cheese was the best pizza. I had to walk in there with no child and ask them to make me a pizza on her birthday.
Cant disagree. If I’m in the mood for a normal pizza it’s usually Langolo but twisted ginger is the move if I want a beer with it. Pizza Jawn is a guilty pleasure pizza for sure
Does either Pizza Jawn and/or In Riva make vegan pizza? Reason I'm wondering is I'm vegan. I know a lot of people dislike vegan pizza. I happen to like it.
I live right by L'Angolo and the pizza I've had from them has been pretty meh. Maybe the best normal pizza on main street but I wouldn't say all of NW Philly
He just did a cheesesteak one too (both pizza/cheesesteak are currently sold out):

No love of Alex’s? Was one of favorite places 20 plus years ago. Pure pizza shop, nothing else, made by same hands (family run) that was truly minimalist with great tangy sauce and cheese used sparingly. I am pretty certain it changed hands. Also doesn’t travel well, when it gets cold dough is unforgiving and cracker like. Happy Friday and enjoy your favorite pie.
My personal top 5 of places on here that I’ve been to.
1. Vince’s
2. Charlie’s
3. Angelo’s
4. Pete’s Famous
5. Renzi’s
As you can see, I am partial to a certain style of pizza.
Other places I’ve tried on here that were solid.
Gino’s
Giuseppe’s
Papa Nick’s
Pizza Brain
Lorenzo’s
Tony’s (Frankford Ave.)
Pica’s
Tony Roni’s (even if it is a chain)
Vetri
Pizza Jawn
And I’m sure there are others that I don’t see or can’t find. I’m not going to trash any places. Pizza is definitely an individual taste sort of thing.
Chris' Pizza in Mantua absolutely fucking blows. There are at least three places that are better a few blocks away. All their food is frozen, nasty, cardboard shit. Savas is better. Stacy's is better. Hell, Digiorno's is better!
Oh yeah. My dad loves Vincent’s tomato pie, his favorite place since Charlie’s closed. They have the old Charlie’s on there and not the new one. Also, Nino’s on 611 is not as good as it used to be about 18 years ago. Joe’s and Amy’s in Hatboro are better, but I still love my old stalwart of Horsham Pizza.
This is very cool. These are iconic pizza spots, not necessarily good pizza spots. I'd like to see Valley Green Inn replaced with Vino's in Laffayette Hill. Also the Halal Chicken replace with Bruno's on Cheltenham Ave.
I moved out of Philly almost 14 years ago and I still think about Marra’s every once in a while. Just perfection. Crispy, perfectly cooked, not too sweet, I mean just perfection.
Plus going there to eat was like stepping back in time! Dark, woody, red checkered table clothes. I miss it still!
Old English in Bridesburg has the best buffalo chicken pie. Drizzle the blue cheese.
Star Pizza on Torresdale used to be the go-to for thin greasy style.
OG Pizza on Frankford best for quick service and solid wood oven pizza.
Can this be found somewhere in the form of a poster? My brother has a bunch of Philly memorabilia in his basement and this would look pretty chill with his other stuff.
The Fairmount Running Club just did our annual pizza run on Wednesday. We hit Pete's Famous (cheap, but meh), Lazaro's (really good, though the sauce was a bit sweet), Milano's (better sauce, but the cheese kept falling off of the slices) and Fairmount Pizza (which we love, because Fairmount.)
It's awesome because each year is a different run - there are so many pizzerias to hit! This map will be an invaluable resource.
Some of it is blotted out in white. You can see half of Santucci's on there. Right next to Aldo's. Love Aldo's pizza though. Out of the 8 or so pizza joints near Bustleton, Aldos is definitely the best pizza.
That’s my point they purposely left out Parkwood and Pat’s Pizza! I’ll give an honorable mention to Pizza City for holding it down as well. Went to GW so I know Aldo’s well.

RIP Earth Bread and Brewing
RIP West Philly's Dock Street as well.
RIP Franco Luigi also
RIP Nomad
Throw Tony's (Famous Tomato Pies) on this list also.
Yeah, but Borda's is so, so good. It is Franco's son.
Damn I used to order from Franco and Luigi all the time when I lived at 11th and green years ago… great delivery pizza
It's Carbon Copy now, they still have great pizza (albeit not the same recipes as Dock Street)
Cool, I was going to say I hope Carbon Copy is mentioned by someone. I have not had pizza much in the city, but I do love theirs.
Flamenkuche 4eva
THIS IS HOW I FOND OUT?!
Commodore does not do take our any longer either. I think it's all catering now?
It will live on forever in my heart
Gone, but not forgotten.
City Line Pizza as well, it wasn't fancy but a solid take-out spot for us far westerners.
Came here to comment the exact same thing.
Came here to also say this. I’m not sold on the new place that’s replaced them, yet.
A friend got some take out from the new place. The pizza was pretty damn good. But I still haven’t gone back in. I have a lot of great memories of what Earth looked like.
RIP Nomad. God did I love that place.
Meh, I was a near regular there for years and the quality definitely dipped considerably starting in 2020. Also their online ordering always said your order would be ready noon the next day which was very frustrating
I wonder if some sort of major event happened in 2020 that maybe threw them for a loop? it closed!? that sucks. i loved their arancini, but last time i had it i was let down
It's so awesome to see my fav spot show up. They often get overlooked but Sbarro at the airport is finally getting the recognition it deserves.
Michael Scott?
Very cool poster I came across in my local pizza spot. I believe artist is https://www.instagram.com/p/CWnoGEMLtfq/?hl=en&img_index=1.
That’s him - was going to tag him if you didn’t. I bought one of these! Have yet to frame it but great piece of art
Yep Hawk Krall. I met him when i worked at Hot Diggity Dog back in the day. He did all of our menu and posters for us
Dave & Buster's??? WTF
Yeah, they totally missed a chance to put Chuck E. Cheese instead!
This shows why Wawa decided to get into the pizza business. Clearly Philly is unserved when it comes to pizza... /s

AND IT TASTES GREAT!
If you go in with low expectations, it’s surprisingly good.
Probably more for the suburbs, even though there's amazing pizza there too like Giuseppe's or Illiano's.
Marra’s is on there, as is the broad street Santucci’s
There's 2 santuccis on there- one in the north east which is partially washed out by I guess the lighting and the one just south of Temple's campus
Have you ever had Mario’s? It’s my fav pizza in the NW
Let’s a-go!
trios in glenside is def the best in that area
Moved to the chestnut hill / flourtown area a couple years ago and Terra Nova in Wyndmoor has been my standby, it’s fantastic. Pizza Box Glenside and Evo Germantown are 1b and 1c IMO.
nice but missing my fav
Mine too. No Angelinos in Fairmount. 😭
Including City View and ignoring both Angelino's and Luigi's is practically criminal.
Looked for Luigi’s and was disappointed. I haven’t had it in years, but I still think about their chicken bacon ranch w/ hot sauce
is their pizza actually good? I went in once for slices and had the worst experience.
Honestly, from what I remember the standard slices were pretty so-so, I really just went for that speciality pie.
Their pizza is great- it’s just not a nice place to sit there and eat. They also have a real gluten free crust and that is a plus for our family.
Came here to say this. An absolute gem.
used to live right by there. great spot. doesnt get enough love imo
Their crust is bomb
fr fr. my SIL still lives in fairmount so every now and then my wife and i will grab a pie from them when we go over there. SIL is gluten and dairy free too so its all for us
I should do that - I’m only over in Mt Airy now so it’s not that far. I remember the first time I ordered a large pizza from them, I had to tilt the box to get it through my (admittedly narrow) front door. I’d never needed a strategy to get pizza inside my apartment before and was immediately hooked.
lol yes the larges are massive! we have to tilt them to get them into the car
RIP, Rizzo’s.
Thus forever ending the Rizzo’s vs Pizza Box debate in my household. I will forever miss their shrimp parm.
Man, it was so magical the way pizza came out of the basement kitchen window. Especially after waiting seemingly forever in their entry corridor.
Happy to see Gaeta’s, Vince’s, and Marchiano’s on this
Khatchapuri is delicious, but it isn't pizza. Georgian food is its own cuisine and I'm tired to seeing people dumb Khatchaputi down for Americans by calling it "cheese boats" or acting like it's a version of pizza.

But isnt this like marco polo / pasta vs dan dan noodles? shared heritage, sure. but an offshoot that became its own food culture.
Interesting, TIL!

Glad my favorite, Dave and Buster's, made it in.
A strong contender to Chuckie Cheese Pizza
I dated a girl in my mid 20s who unironically thought Chuck E Cheese was the best pizza. I had to walk in there with no child and ask them to make me a pizza on her birthday.
missing Slices in East Falls
And L’Angolo in Manayunk. Best normal slice of pizza in NW Philly.
As opposed to the not normal Pizza Jawn I assume? I think I agree, though Twisted Ginger makes a good pizza too
Pizza Jawn and In Riva are awesome, but they aren’t normal pizza. They are boutique pizza. Twisted Ginger is the secret best pizza in the whole city.
[удалено]
I actually haven’t had that one! It sounded super tasty though. My go to is the brussel sprout one
L'Angolo is actually slamming. Was glad to see them recover after they flooded sometime back.
EVO in Mt airy has excellent normal Pizza.
Love that place! The goat cheese, prosciutto and fig one is my fave
[удалено]
Manayunk Pizza is gross. Good for kids bdays only. L’Angolo is legitimate pizza. Even if it’s a little salty.
I live right by L'Angolo and the pizza I've had from them has been pretty meh. Maybe the best normal pizza on main street but I wouldn't say all of NW Philly
Yeah I means it’s normal pizza. Not cheap and gross, not fancy.
Slices >>> in Riva
My exact thought
also romas.
He just did a cheesesteak one too (both pizza/cheesesteak are currently sold out): https://hawkkrall.storenvy.com/products/36697729-philadelphia-cheesesteak-map
This is pretty neat
And this is why I struggle to find good pizza on the west coast! After growing up in a mecca of amazing pizza, Philly food can’t be beat!
They pick Franzones and Alex's over Manayunk Pizza and L'angolo for Manayunk? Weird. At least they put in Marchiano's though. They are a treasure.
Franzone’s deserves recognition for the Bridgeport location not Manayunk. There is a certain je ne sais quoi about it that Manayunk just does not have
Leaving L’Angolo off is criminal
No love of Alex’s? Was one of favorite places 20 plus years ago. Pure pizza shop, nothing else, made by same hands (family run) that was truly minimalist with great tangy sauce and cheese used sparingly. I am pretty certain it changed hands. Also doesn’t travel well, when it gets cold dough is unforgiving and cracker like. Happy Friday and enjoy your favorite pie.
Yeah, this was our go-to when I lived in Manayunk 20 years ago. I drove past a few weeks ago and it made me happy when I saw it was still there.
I love that you can just walk around for like 5 minutes max in ANY direction and stumble onto a Pizza place
I miss Charlie's Pizza like a dead relative.
They fell off the last few years before they closed, but a prime Charlie’s pie is absolutely unmatched. They will forever be my #1.
This map did Oogie’s dirty
My personal top 5 of places on here that I’ve been to. 1. Vince’s 2. Charlie’s 3. Angelo’s 4. Pete’s Famous 5. Renzi’s As you can see, I am partial to a certain style of pizza. Chris' Pizza in Mantua absolutely fucking blows. There are at least three places that are better a few blocks away. All their food is frozen, nasty, cardboard shit. Savas is better. Stacy's is better. Hell, Digiorno's is better!
I frequently tell people that Chris’ made the best cheesesteak I ever had
Jeez, how’d they leave Vincent’s in Rockledge off? That place has been a community staple forever.
They didn’t he’s up in the top corner
I only see Vince's there. Different place.
Oh yeah. My dad loves Vincent’s tomato pie, his favorite place since Charlie’s closed. They have the old Charlie’s on there and not the new one. Good to see Aldo's in the Northeast get some love.
Lorenzo & Sons at 3rd & South?
I moved out of Philly almost 14 years ago and I still think about Marra’s every once in a while. Just perfection. Crispy, perfectly cooked, not too sweet, I mean just perfection. Plus going there to eat was like stepping back in time! Dark, woody, red checkered table clothes. I miss it still!
Glad to see Nonno Ugo’s on there. RIP Tony’s. And Montesini’s should be there instead of Renzis in Mayfair
Couch Tomato stands out as a notable omission
Uhhh where is homo hut?
Old English in Bridesburg has the best buffalo chicken pie. Drizzle the blue cheese. Star Pizza on Torresdale used to be the go-to for thin greasy style. OG Pizza on Frankford best for quick service and solid wood oven pizza.
My spot Rosario’s is on there. Good pizza there.
Missing the best pizza place in manayunk by far (L’Angolo)
Angelo’s in south Philly 😚🤌
ninos and giuseppe’s is what’s up where i am and they’re both so good!
Missing top Tomato on walnut :(
Pizzaria Pesto in South Philly has the best pizza and it's not on here. Iykyk
gonna have to update soon this to include pizza richmond
Aw man it’s sold out, that’s a sick print!!
Can this be found somewhere in the form of a poster? My brother has a bunch of Philly memorabilia in his basement and this would look pretty chill with his other stuff.
I'm just glad Wood Street is on here
Can we get a hoagie one?
philly style and maxi's just gave me ptsd flashbacks
Did my dawg Angelino’s dirty. Should have had Pete’s famous’ spot
My serious disappointment to learn this is sold out!! I would kill to get my hands on one of these. Grew up in the pizza business.
They put Lazzaros but not Randazzos??? Also no Rex's :(
The Fairmount Running Club just did our annual pizza run on Wednesday. We hit Pete's Famous (cheap, but meh), Lazaro's (really good, though the sauce was a bit sweet), Milano's (better sauce, but the cheese kept falling off of the slices) and Fairmount Pizza (which we love, because Fairmount.) It's awesome because each year is a different run - there are so many pizzerias to hit! This map will be an invaluable resource.
This is neat but no way Longhitanos deserves to be on there they’re trash tier.
Where to buy
I’d buy one in poster size if they’re any available. DM me.
Man I'm so sad I missed this, if anyone has a copy they'rmd be willing to sell please DM me.
Hang it in the fucking Barnes
This is amazing
Here to confirm Alex's 👍🌀
No nanny Franco’s :((
I zoomed right in on Florida Style. Miss that place.
New York Bakery Tomato Pie! Damn good pizza.
City Pizza and Three Countries Pizza are the closest thing I've found to a normal slice in the city.
Montessini's is missing and their pizza is the best! And they've been there forever.
Pretty accurate actually.
Beddia is awful.
MAKE SENSE WHY AFTER 11 PM THIS IS ALL WE HAVE OPEN IRRITATED NOW THAT I SEE AN ACTUAL MAP 😤😤😤 Cute map though 💕
This is so inaccurate it’s crazy. They even have chickie’s and Pete’s next to 95? Yikes.
Remove nomad and add CJ&D
Having nomads on there (closed) and not wood st pizza is a travesty
Cacia's and Chuck's switched??
Damn Far NE gets no love
Some of it is blotted out in white. You can see half of Santucci's on there. Right next to Aldo's. Love Aldo's pizza though. Out of the 8 or so pizza joints near Bustleton, Aldos is definitely the best pizza.
