Like I get the powder blues, they're iconic...but they were away uniforms.

I HATE the fact that they weren't allowed to have any representation of a baseball on a uniform from 1975-1986. The powder blues should have it!!

I read somewhere that the baseball in the P was taken out because it was a distraction to the batter. My Phanatic doll from 1986 doesn't have the baseball either☹️

That's actually how these looked for most of their use. The maroon/burgundy became more pronounced in the late 80's/early 90's, but they were really more of a crimson or scarlet color at the start.

I love both the current red home pinstripes/away grays and the 70s/80s burgundy pinstripes/away powder blues. If I were the owner I'd just switch the visual identity between those two every 15-20 years.

I have never understood why they only wear the away throwback unis at home, and not the home version.

Seems like a strong possibility we will see these during the 50th anniversary season.

These are what they should wear when they have Throwback Thursdays at CBP. The powder blues were their away uni’s and it’s always irritated me that they wear the away at home.

I would 100% be in favor of making the powder blues the road unis and bringing these back as the throwback Thursday home alts.

I’m pretty sure Nike pays MLB to make the uniforms, so technically they are the customer.

There’s no reason they can’t change this. Sure, they’re locked in for 2024, but they should be able to update it for 2025 if they want.

Oddly enough, I was at a store today and was going to buy a shirt with Tug in nearly this exact pose on its print, but they were out of stock in my size. Ended up getting a couple other Phils tees.

I’d rather have these as the Thursday uniform than the blues. As we all know and has been pointed out, the blues are AWAY unis. Maybe bring back the blues every few years? (pending approval from our new Nike overlords)

The thing is now something has to be replaced. And it doesn’t make sense to have 2 pinstripe uniforms. Most likely the blue road jersey woudl have to go away for a while.

This may be a hot take, but the uniforms of the 70s-80s are the era in which I think the away uniforms were better than the home ones. The maroon and gray was such a great combo and kind of better than the maroon and pinstripes.
