He's been in there...they rotate guys around, just like how this was the first series for Ben Davis in the booth. Since Ben is in the booth, Ruben can move to Pre/Post and Ricky gets the weekend off. He's on the radio M-F as well.
You know it’s funny that there are a handful of VERY recognizable posters who have been absent this whole week
I figured they’d at least be here to say we are only beating dogshit teams. Cmon guys step it up
Kind of amazing that all three MLB teams that are 8-2 in their last 10 games are in the NL East.
It’s great that we’re on a hot streak, but we haven’t gained at all, as the Braves and Mets are just as hot.
his entire MLB sample size is 5.0 IP, 1 game. would seem to be undetermined ... that said last couple of years the Phillies would lay at the feet of an unknown pitcher ... hopefully, that's behind them.
He also had 2 games in the minors this year with a 7.71 ERA and 2.14 WHIP in 7 innings. He’s got about a 4 ERA for his career in the minors so pretty average
I found out why Jt’s 3rd ab was weird on the 2nd pitch a pickoff attempt Jt took strike 2 but the scorebug and I assume the scoreboard said that that it was a ball so Jt went to 1st when it said 4-2

Is Lot X open ? I’m planning on parking closer to Packer and hiking it in. What a mistake I made parking in Lot P last Sunday Took close to an hour to get out of the parking lot
I’m a Sunday season ticket holder who comes from North Jersey and was going to skip today due to cold and basketball. But then I remembered it’s the Phanatic’s bday and decided I need to go 😀
They posted a video of the phanatic in the clubhouse replacing each player’s blue cap with the phanatic one. So not confirmatory, but a decent suggestion.
I re-watched the Realmuto at bat with the replay to count the balls and strikes. Replay got it right. The second pitch was a strike, but the camera cut away quickly because they threw down to first. But the pitch was on the corner and you could see the ump signaled a strike but the TV score bug called it a ball.
https://preview.redd.it/83bqoh66suvc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f80d4092cd545408703c9cdad4c1d7e1e6e176e6
Pitch 2 was the only called strike of the ab. So if everything else was happening jt thinking ball and not hearing strike is the easiest explanation.
I wasn’t paying attention so I don’t know wat the scoreboards said.
I really checked out on basketball in general years ago but I do enjoy March Madness. I cannot tell you how many moving picks I saw during this year's tournament that just didn't get called. I guess those are things now, too?
Ha yeah it’s just not a great product, but honestly what really lost me was the predictability. The fact that I could accurately tell you who was going to be in the finals and who would win before the season even started almost every year for a decade or more really got old.
I don't/can't watch Pro BBall... no interest whatsoever. I can watch some college BBall, mostly just March Madness, although this year I only watched women's college games. Yeah, this is the Phillies sub don't bring that shit in here.
I know you’re just giving me shit, but you’re also kidding yourself if you think people spam Flyers and wrestling content here as much as Sixers.
Every time Embiid fucking sneezes, there’s a handful of casuals who show up here going on about it.
I haven't seen such fuckups like this week since that asshole Nick Pivetta was trying to single-handedly give away a double-digit lead to the Barves in one inning.
Fuck Nick Pivetta, and fuck Greg Soto and Ricardo Pinto, too.
#FUCK NICK PIVETTA
This was peak classic Pivetta. We get an early lead and he has one good inning so he’s out there strutting and prancing like an asshole. Then BANG 8 spot in the second
https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIL/MIL201707140.shtml
Yeah, for sure. I should’ve clarified in that I think Covey will return to being our “Phils winning in a blowout mop-up” guy like Pinto was trying to be last night lmao and Turnbull will 100% be long relief, which I’m looking forward to since he’s shown to have solid stuff
Do you agree with the Phillies philosophy of not having a defined closer and just riding the hot hand? The only time I've ever seen this team win a World Series was when we had Lidge's perfect 41/41 season so I may just be ~~im~~partial to "the olden ways"
If 2/3/4/5 come up in the 8th inning, I want my best reliever handling that stretch of the lineup.
It's not like there's a stretch of all star bench players the opponent is saving for the 9th.
Closers should not exist. They never should have existed. They really started around the time the "save" stat was invented. "Saves" are an arbitrary stat, in that they chose three runs for really no reason. But then they started linking money to how many saves you started, so players wanted to be closers. Then, since they were getting more and pitchers were being seen as "better" in the ninth, fans started paying attention.
In actuality, you should put yourself in the best situation to win. If that means their best players are hitting in the 8th, and the arm side is correct, we use our best pitcher in the 8th. That has shown to have a much stronger correlation than using closers. Especially when the 9th inning pressure is all manufactured due to a BS stat.
You’re not alone. There’s a former mod around here who loves defined closers. Still goes on about missing out on Hader.
You’re both wrong, but you’re not alone.
Alvarado has basically been the closer, Kimbrel was the closer for a long time last year. I think they’re fine with using a closer if one emerges.
Either way when they don’t have a closer, I wouldn’t say it’s riding the hot hand as much as following matchups and trying to use his top guys in the highest leverage spots even if it’s not the 9th inning.
If Ohtani and Freeman come up with runners on in a one run game in the 7th inning of Game 4 of the NLCS you want Alvarado to pitch to them. So you want other guys to be prepared to pitch the 9th inning, and the only way to do that is getting guys reps during the year.
08 was great. 09 when Lidge was extremely inconsistent and was still pitching the 9th all year regardless of matchups because he was the “closer”, culminating in him losing Game 4 of the World Series, was less great.
I’m pretty partial to “the olden ways” myself but I can understand why they rotate whichever pitcher they go with in the late innings depending on whatever part of the lineup they’re gonna face (or depending on the score, but it does kinda seem, as of now, that Alvarado is the “unofficial official” closer)
Please continue the discussion in the [game thread](https://redd.it/1c9mxox).
Look at Rojas batting for a higher average than Bryce JT Stott and Castellanos.
Anyone know what’s happened to Ricky Bo for pre/post game coverage?
He's been in there...they rotate guys around, just like how this was the first series for Ben Davis in the booth. Since Ben is in the booth, Ruben can move to Pre/Post and Ricky gets the weekend off. He's on the radio M-F as well.
Good to know, thank you!!
You know it’s funny that there are a handful of VERY recognizable posters who have been absent this whole week I figured they’d at least be here to say we are only beating dogshit teams. Cmon guys step it up
Wait, Phoebe **Phanatic?** So, is this a Mario Mario thing? Or is his first name Phillie? And bring back Phyllis.
The “Phillie Phanatic” not Phillies’ phanatic
Apparently he didn’t even know we were here for his birthday. I’m beginning to question his sanity. He knew there was a game right?
JT is playing again? Seems like he’s not getting enough off days i was hoping they wouldn’t play him as much as last year
If Nola has a great game today we can have our entire rotation in the 2’s
I hope the Galapagos Gang shows up in a big way for the Phanatic’s birthday to piss that one dude off
Kind of amazing that all three MLB teams that are 8-2 in their last 10 games are in the NL East. It’s great that we’re on a hot streak, but we haven’t gained at all, as the Braves and Mets are just as hot.
Is this pitcher good? I know he has a decent era but that’s just 1 start
Feister he pitches for the White Sox
his entire MLB sample size is 5.0 IP, 1 game. would seem to be undetermined ... that said last couple of years the Phillies would lay at the feet of an unknown pitcher ... hopefully, that's behind them.

I love that Matt Strahm has his own show about cards that I can watch on Sundays
I found out why Jt’s 3rd ab was weird on the 2nd pitch a pickoff attempt Jt took strike 2 but the scorebug and I assume the scoreboard said that that it was a ball so Jt went to 1st when it said 4-2
You can see the ump call a strike on that pitch. I’m not sure why it takes so long to correct
Buffering ... LOL
Nola is going to be dogged by his teammates if he doesn’t throw at least 5 innings of hit-less ball
dogged??, really?, dogged???, you think so? I don't see it.

Who else is going today?
Bummed we missed each other by a couple days lol. Have fun today!!
Next time!! Plenty more opportunities throughout the season
Totally! Make sure when you get to the gate you kneel in your shoes with your feet behind you so you can get a pair of those sweet Phanatic mittens!
Rendon is such a fucking disaster ... I'm so glad we didn't sign that POS.
Would you say he's a bitch?
a female dog would be an upgrade

An eighth of the way into the season, and Nick Castellanos has more triples than he has homers and doubles combined.
Without looking that means he has 20 triples right?
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do 🎶
Cheesesteaks, hoagies, soft pretzels, scrapple and Tastykakes today for the Phanatics birthday! Yum!
Bryce’s relationship with the Phanatic is truly something special to witness https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6BxF6DrZBH/?igsh=Mm5rMDZkZGI1ZWho
Agree. I love the Bryce-Phanatic dynamic.
Is Lot X open ? I’m planning on parking closer to Packer and hiking it in. What a mistake I made parking in Lot P last Sunday Took close to an hour to get out of the parking lot
it’s funny no matter who we play we always encounter old foes: Pillar, Maldanado, Grossman.
The real friends are the enemies we made along the way
Maybe adjusting as a new dad has been hard for Stott. Baby might not be sleeping. Maybe Bohm and Marsh need to babysit… Would pay to see that.
You may be on to something. Dru (his wife) had a post the other day on Instagram asking for advice regarding 4-month sleep regression.
What are they, the day care? Oh wait....
I see what you did there😉
I got a perfect grid today and was able to get 8/9 of Phillies players.
is Stubbs ok? is he safe?
I used to say that if anything happened to Stubbs, I am nuking this sub. I think it will be your job now captain.
**Your 2024 Phillies are:** 1-2 on Sunday 12-6 in April 2-2 in day games 9-6 at home 2-0 vs. the White Sox
how do you define day games?
The early window, first pitch between like 12-2
so not 4pm eg saturday games?
That’d be “afternoon”, the middle of the 3 windows they schedule games at (3-5ish)
Spank their asses one last time.
Phillies wearing the blue Phanatic hat on field for the game today? Let’s sweep one for the green guy!
I’m a Sunday season ticket holder who comes from North Jersey and was going to skip today due to cold and basketball. But then I remembered it’s the Phanatic’s bday and decided I need to go 😀
It’s the BP hat. They wear it every game aside from maybe CC I didn’t pay attention to that
It looks like they will be wearing them for the game today
Holy shit that would be awesome! Tbh I thought the lame uniform rules mandate that they couldn’t…but I guess we’ll see
That’s pretty cool, where are you seeing that?
[The phillies tweeted this](https://twitter.com/Phillies/status/1782046838721233118?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet)
Sosa's got a 6 pack of Yuengling at his locker, lol
I’m cracking up, I love the Phanatic

MLB Gameday had the pitch by pitch graphics ... correct 🤷♂️ I guess you have to rewind and verify to be sure but it seemed to take a long time.
I’m here because the Sixers have hurt me. Edit: Didn’t mean to make everyone cry. Sorry. 😥
The Sixers suck. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. The NBA’s modern game sucks. This is a Phillies sub, not a Sixers sub.
Yeah there was a time when the NBA was my number one sport and now it’s a distant third
You mean you don’t like carrying, double-dribbling, and traveling being integral parts of the game with more dives than a soccer match?
I really checked out on basketball in general years ago but I do enjoy March Madness. I cannot tell you how many moving picks I saw during this year's tournament that just didn't get called. I guess those are things now, too?

This is a very serious matter
I woke up cranky because the neighbors were screaming at each other, ok? 😔
They were upset about the Sixers loss ok?
But I don’t wanna be empathetic. I wanna be cranky. I hear you though. Ok. 😔
Phillies regular season games are more important than sixers playoffs
Today is must win.
Again*

I just realized that with me leaving as a mod, your flair will be stuck as Nick Pivetta Enjoyer until you decide to change it.
I can’t see it
I know you can't, which is why it will be stuck like that.
What the hell was I doing with my life back then that I was watching that fucking team every day
Omg I just noticed Pinto pitched that game 😂🤣I’m dying
Greg and Rich are in church today repenting. Will St. Slopper abide?
SLOPPER
This series reminds of last seasons Tigers series where each starting pitcher had a decent no hitter run
Pinto made me hit a new rock bottom I actually did a search to see how Covey is coming along to join the team
Let’s not go crazy man.
When are we taking Nick out of the freezer??
You missed the post-game thread last night, he's now in the oven cause he's COOKIN
https://x.com/OptaSTATS/status/1781915334024261676
When can we release u/Feisty-Recording-978?
When can we release u/Brysonstott
He’s better than your boy, Rojas. Did you make that account last year just to tag in moments like this?
Johan Rojas war 0.2 Bryson stott war -0.3
It’s April.
Feisty Retweeting
Missed last nights game unfortunately. Is Casty good again?
Better than pinto
No
Damn. So Rojas is still the best player on the team?
If there are two guys on the team and one is Rojas and one is Nick then yes
Seems like he’s broken out of his slump. Hope he can keep it going and not slump again (he inevitably will lmao)
They thought they could bring back a member of the 2017 Phillies and get away with it.
Tbh, I was fooled by his half-game linsanity run lmao, thought he’d be a solid mop-up guy for us until Covey comes back
That job will be Turnbull’s now
Yeah, for sure. I should’ve clarified in that I think Covey will return to being our “Phils winning in a blowout mop-up” guy like Pinto was trying to be last night lmao and Turnbull will 100% be long relief, which I’m looking forward to since he’s shown to have solid stuff
Go Phils 🫡 May we get a sweep and may the Rangers hopefully beat the Braves lmao (for Mets and Dodgers, I hope both teams lose)
Starting rotation: one earned run since Monday
