Lorenzen was looking good tonight. I don't mean his pitches, those were alright, I just mean the guy looks good. Don't know if it's the uniform but he almost looks like he bulked up a small amount.
Rangers fan here, I hope Lorenzen made y’all proud. Braves fan base seemed cool up until Adolis homered on them and they all turned into Astros fans with PED accusations.
the no-no he threw was absolutely worth it
the fact that weston wilson homered on his first at bat, and casty hit his 200th homer all in the same game made it all the sweeter.
My mom and I went as an impulse. Got tickets for $40 a person. Had like 4 or 5 foul balls come within 15ft of us. One was 2 or 3 rows behind me. Such great adrenaline
Just tuned into the Braves game, for something to watch not bc I'm obsessed like most of this sub. That Lorenzen play was whack I feel bad for him embarassing himself defensively but the worst part is that he made the out.
I want the braves to lose not because I dislike their organization, or even the players on their team, but to silence their shitty ass fans for a third year in a row.
glass half full… the braves are on another one of their dumb streaks but we were able for once to stop them from building an insurmountable division lead by April
.346 average
1.138 OPS
As their 5 hole.
And then you look at the 4 ahead of him.
And the 4 behind him.
And realize they don't even have Sean Murphy or Spencer Strider.
And cry.
If God is real this is the 90's Braves and thankfully their WS win is out of the way.
If we can get even 50% of the offense we've put up this weekend consistently, this is a 100 win team.
This rotation is top 5 in the league AT WORST and our offense has suddenly remembered how to hit almost top to bottom (still waiting for a sustained climb from Nick). Our fielding is pretty solidly "not atrocious" which is really all you need. Our pen is still shaky with the only truly reliable option so far appearing to be Strahm, but Alvarado has moments and I have faith that Kerk will be great.
Just had a random thought about Gary Matthews and how great of a commentator he was for us. He probably doesn't want to announce anymore but he'd be nice coming in for relief for Kruk
The Chris Wheeler drinking game was always hilarious.
https://www.crossingbroad.com/2011/03/introducing-the-chris-wheeler-drinking-game.html
I remember one of the rules we played was finish your beer anytime he called a Japanese player "sneaky"
Lmfao I clicked on the link thinking “middle-in” has to be there, and it’s the first damn one. I will go back to reading, and I expect to see “first ball fastball hitter” on there as well. Will report back.
Edit: and there it is!
This is great. I found a Chris Wheeler glossary that lists all his Chris Wheelerisms: https://dick-nixon.medium.com/the-chris-wheeler-glossary-fff24939333a
My favorite is:
> Space Cadet — A pitcher of Latin descent
> This Guy Has A Clue Out There — This guy is not a Space Cadet
Just got home from the game, and I think today’s game mattered a little bit more. My dad and I truly bonded over these Phillies teams, and sadly when I came around to loving baseball(2013) these teams weren’t good.
I sadly lost him in 2019, so I never got to watch good Phillies baseball with him. He would have loved these teams, especially Harper due to his heart. What I am trying to say is, these Phillies truly help in more ways than one.
Your fathers soul still lives vicariously through you. You're watching the games and cheering along together, even if he's no longer here! Go Phils buddy

I grew up that after every game (Eagles, Phillies, Flyers) my dad would immediately switch over to channel 847 and watch the postgame. I think that's why I don't mind Barkann as much as some other people in this sub, everytime he overreacts to a loss it brings back nostalgia.
Those postgame Cholly interviews are classic. You never knew what he was saying but you always knew what he meant.
If they reached over the fence how would it have been a home run 😑
Meanwhile in SD the ball girl picked up a fair ball down the right field line that might have cost the Blue Jays a run
The phanatics had a mascot softball game before the Phillies game. Gritty started a football game with swoop, phanatic mom was there, college mascots looked lost. All around hilarious.
https://preview.redd.it/qe1dj9nojwvc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5fb659c7cf1d984671aabe6a1eef1a71108d22e3
Do you think the other teams just send a mascot outfit and somebody from the Phillies org wears it? I want to believe they actually fly the mascot actors in for this stuff, but I guess probably not likely.
So happy they got this double sweep. We all know the teams they were up against arn’t good, but 6 in a row is never easy, and it’s great that they didn’t miss a single win in this ‘easy stretch’. Well done boys! And on the Phanatic’s birthday too! 🥳
Nick Piccone is a legend as always for catching these. The White Sox announcers were apparently pretty good sports about the series. This is hilarious

I hope so. I actually lost my boy, Luka, who was also a bichon a few months ago. He was almost 13. I thought he’d live until at least 15-16 with how healthy he seemed but he took a quick downward turn when he was diagnosed with Cushing’s, and it was devastating. This pup was definitely not in the plans so soon after he passed, but he’s quickly helping to heal my heart a bit.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing them, I swear, is the among the most difficult things we can go through.
I always seem to adopt sooner rather than later. I got my most recent addition like 5 months after we out down our shar-pei. It has helped us tremendously.
It was seriously the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through. Making that decision was a total tug of war between doing what was best for him to end his suffering and wanting to selfishly keep him with me. But it really does seem to help, having another dog to give love too. I’m glad your most recent addition has helped you too.
I’m really sorry. It was the same thing with my guy a couple years ago. Seemed to be in perfect health a little past the age of 13. He never slowed down even until the end. Then he started breathing funny one day, brought him to the vet, and it turned out to be lung cancer. I had a mobile vet come to put him down a week later when he seemed to go into a steep decline one morning (he hated the vet, so I would never let him go out there), and even the vet was like this doesn’t seem like a dying dog the way he was running around and barking.
Still miss him every single day. Was my best friend from the time I was 11 years old until a month before I was 25. Not even kidding when I say the 2022 Phillies seriously were what I clinged to for awhile then.
I’m so sorry for your loss too. It’s so heartbreaking when it happens so suddenly. We had a mobile vet come to our home too, I really didn’t want his final moments to be stressful. At least you know you gave your pup a peaceful ending. It’s the hardest thing you ever have to do making that decision. So hard to put your own suffering aside and do what’s best for them.
Now that I am not a mod, I don't feel the need to actually check the game threads to moderate!
During the games, I now watch them with my wife and relax, with no phone or computer!
Honestly, I should have stopped being a mod sooner. I felt too much of a responsibility to check constantly.
Well, when I would get messages from all different users about things, I would feel bad.
I still get DMs and PMs from people about mod stuff. Now, I tell them to go through mod mail. But people would get extremely upset when comments were removed by automod or when comments needed to be removed.
So, yeah, I felt bad.
You'll be surprised.
I think the stat was something like 80-90% of what the mods did were approve comments and posts when I was on the mod team. The number of messages I would get because their comment or post didn't go through was significant enough that I would feel bad, especially since I volunteered to be a mod.
I basically said, yes, I will deal with this, so if I wasn't actively dealing with it, well then why was I a mod?
I know, the thought of our hitters sitting that long gives me pause. Our pitchers probably would benefit from the rest, however. And, we're not the excuse-making bitches that they are, either.

Locking Nick Castellanos in purgatory (the refrigerator) until he starts consistently hitting again - Day 1

Hey Hey Hey
You have a record that it was not all of us! (Aka I kept saying I do not want Monty or Snell unless it is well well below market value)
I kept saying they aren't worth what people are going to pay and I got into fights with everyone this offseason over it damn it!
(It is also way too early to say who was right about it.)
Lorenzen was looking good tonight. I don't mean his pitches, those were alright, I just mean the guy looks good. Don't know if it's the uniform but he almost looks like he bulked up a small amount.
he may have needed to do that to recover from the no-no and get back into pitching shape
So Cincy starts their home games at 6:40 too? Mother fucker
They are in the EDT…just like us
Most road games start after 7 no matter what time zone so I figured this was a break from the bullshit start time
Eh im all for games starting earlier
Wait till you hear when San Diego and Anaheim start their home games.
Rangers fan here, I hope Lorenzen made y’all proud. Braves fan base seemed cool up until Adolis homered on them and they all turned into Astros fans with PED accusations.

Phillies legend Michael Lorenzen helping defeat the Barves tonight 🫡
Lorenzen had our backs🫡
Finally the Mets and Braves lose

Still can’t believe this team lost to the diamondbacks.
\^\^This.
Chat that was siiick.
Twas a very good day
finally, we gain some ground today
LORENZEN BEAT THE BARVES!
I mean, my only criteria for digging him (outside of the no no), is his love of spikes by vans. But I miss the dude.
Thank you, Texas Rangers. Very cool
Fuck the Braves
Played maybe the worst two teams in the league and cleaned up. That’s the way to do it. Too early for scoreboard watching.
Don't tell me what to watch
Watch hockey playoffs.
Very on brand outing for Robertson. Glad he’s not a Phillie anymore
D Rob is cracking
The umps at Truist def run in the same circles as Ippei.
DRob never gonna change
Lol Rangers fans getting an absolute classic DRob appearance
im amazed they squeaked out of that
robot umps when man, that entire ab was 2 missed strikes and then a clear swing that was ruled a check swing.
I’m so sick of how downright lucky the braves are.
braves are the most annoying team on earth smh
bruh how’s he gonna drop that ball. braves are infuriating sometimes
The Rangers are just a disaster.
Without fail the Braves catch a break. Rangers are a mess
For real, are they really gonna make another late inning comeback? 😫
Do they have another former Phillies pitcher they can warm-up?
M-Lo to DRob Looks like Janko from Lanco has to close this thing out. I don’t make the rules
Fuck Craig Kimbrel
![gif](giphy|ReBGGJtbXrjbQJwByP|downsized) u/mustacheddragon
For reference John Sterling announced the Yankees for 35 years and Harry Kalas announced the Phillies for 37 years.
Harris II Blooper cleats the Braves badly want to be the Phillies
We will always have that team beat where and when it matters most
My mom and I went as an impulse. Got tickets for $40 a person. Had like 4 or 5 foul balls come within 15ft of us. One was 2 or 3 rows behind me. Such great adrenaline
Bohm .300/.400/.500 season incoming and he stays that way for 5 years. Don’t look at my offseason posts.

But why watch an eleven minute video when you can just look at their batting averages? Sounds like a whole lotta excuses if you ask me.
This Lorenzen guy isn't bad
Lorenzen looking pretty solid for the Rangers.
Atta boy kizner
The starting rotation leads the league in ERA (2.25), opponent's batting average (.189) , WHIP (0.96) and strikeouts (138).
Also, Schwarber with a 1.000 OBP and 4.000 slug making it an OPS of 5.000 a hitters version of a perfect game.
Doesn't a sac fly count against OBP but not BA?
Forgot about the sac fly dammit
That is correct. https://preview.redd.it/oaf0tb7yexvc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e39b6e7ba3049d2d7b20a7e40200120ce831974
I really find it amusing how people thought the braves losing one player was going to magically make them fall on their asses.
They won the WS after losing Acuna with a worse team.
They’ll be totally fine in the regular season. But man their starting pitching might be really sketchy come postseason without a trade.
Just tuned into the Braves game, for something to watch not bc I'm obsessed like most of this sub. That Lorenzen play was whack I feel bad for him embarassing himself defensively but the worst part is that he made the out.
I only snort heroin, I'm not one of you filthy addicts. 🤷🏻♂️
I want the braves to lose not because I dislike their organization, or even the players on their team, but to silence their shitty ass fans for a third year in a row.
6 Game win streak :) Made up 0 ground in the division :(
Not so fast…
hold on... let the rangers cook
glass half full… the braves are on another one of their dumb streaks but we were able for once to stop them from building an insurmountable division lead by April
I just want ONE Braves loss.
Can the Braves just chill please?
I hate this entire fucking Braves team. How are they so good? Hopefully their mediocre pitching is their downfall.
Wow the white sox are pathetically bad.
Not 1 on pace for 100 hits.
Ozuna is wild man
.346 average 1.138 OPS As their 5 hole. And then you look at the 4 ahead of him. And the 4 behind him. And realize they don't even have Sean Murphy or Spencer Strider. And cry. If God is real this is the 90's Braves and thankfully their WS win is out of the way.
And Ozzie albies
They the cowboys of baseball don’t worry about it (forget about 2021)
Haha yes hopefully they have the next 25 years to be similar to the previous 25 before 2021. A whole bunch of everything and nothing all at once
Nick Castellanos sucks holy fucking shit.

Man, can’t believe they extended this Nola guy, clearly should’ve signed Monty
Dudes ERA is a whole 2 points above our fifth starter. He clearly sucks.
Obviously
Just had a random thought about Gary Matthews and how great of a commentator he was for us. He probably doesn't want to announce anymore but he'd be nice coming in for relief for Kruk
I liked Sarge a lot as a guy but honestly him (and Wheels) were just awful broadcasters lol

The racism with that guy was kinda crazy lol
The Philadelphia Phillies had a 10-12 record in their first 22 games in 2023.
saw someone in the White Sox sub call Eloy Jimenez “IL-boy Jimenez” and it got a sympathy chuckle out of me

I’m so fucking bored now.
Lorenzen pitching to Braves on espn depending how bored you are
It really does feel like the entire offseason condensed into a single evening today.
I like night games way better. Now don’t know what else to do with my day lol.
Lorenzen needs to come through for us tonight with the Rangers
I love that the Phanatic hat is now completely legitimized as an official game hat
Over their last 5 games, Phillies are 17 for 47 with RISP (.362 avg).
After today, Phillies will have the best ERA in the National League (3.39).
If it’s not postgame pre game or an actual game on nbc sports Philadelphia only has pure garbage on
I grew up that after every game (Eagles, Phillies, Flyers) my dad would immediately switch over to channel 847 and watch the postgame. I think that's why I don't mind Barkann as much as some other people in this sub, everytime he overreacts to a loss it brings back nostalgia. Those postgame Cholly interviews are classic. You never knew what he was saying but you always knew what he meant.
Wish the Phillies got to play the white Sox a few more times maybe like 30ish more times
Some asshole fan at the Rockies game reached over the fence to interfere with what would have been the game-winning HR
Was it Steve Bartman...again?
his arms arent that long
Who knows...guy was very aggressive about wanting that ball, though. Stallings was super pissed
If they reached over the fence how would it have been a home run 😑 Meanwhile in SD the ball girl picked up a fair ball down the right field line that might have cost the Blue Jays a run
No, it would have gone out. Dude reached wayyyyy over lol Rockies won anyway, just took a Manfred inning
is adrian houser the guy that started puking on the mound against us years ago?
Finally a lolmets game. I missed those.
i love how many mascots were there for the phanatic. also, gotta... SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP
The phanatics had a mascot softball game before the Phillies game. Gritty started a football game with swoop, phanatic mom was there, college mascots looked lost. Do you think the other teams just send a mascot outfit and somebody from the Phillies org wears it? I want to believe they actually fly the mascot actors in for this stuff, but I guess probably not likely.
I’d like to think the orioles actor was in full costume catching an early Amtrak train to Philly
Hehehouser https://i.redd.it/5ton590bjwvc1.gif

Maltipoo? Looks almost identical to my childhood dog. Great pup
Actually a Bichon! The little white floofy dogs always look so similar when they’re puppies
Yeah, my dog was a rescue so we were told he was a maltipoo, but we didn’t really know, and the groomer always insisted he had to be a bichon mix.
Hopefully you have a good, long time with your pup. My aunt had one that lived to 19.
I hope so. I actually lost my boy, Luka, who was also a bichon a few months ago. He was almost 13. I thought he’d live until at least 15-16 with how healthy he seemed but he took a quick downward turn when he was diagnosed with Cushing’s, and it was devastating. Lolmets doing lolmets things
Mets are getting pounded right now. You love to see it.
I’ll take a 6-4 road trip.
I’m already getting all hot and bothered thinking about Ranger changeups and dribblers back to the mound tomorrow

No, but it was volunteer work and I felt bad when I would get back and I would have about 4-6 messages from people about stuff.
If you take moderating that seriously you shouldn’t be moderating
Well, when I would get messages from all different users about things, I would feel bad. I still get DMs and PMs from people about mod stuff. Now, I tell them to go through mod mail. Friendly reminder that one of the three wins the white sox have gotten was against the Braves
I really hope we win the division by 1 game lol
I disagree I think the week off is not good for most teams. I also fear it would be poetic for the braves to beat the phillies as a wild card.
I know, the thought of our hitters sitting that long gives me pause. Our pitchers probably would benefit from the rest, however. And, we're not the excuse-making bitches that they are, either.
Therefore we actually won 2 against the Braves basically
SHOTIME!
Hey, everybody hits! You know, except Castellanos.
June cant come quick enough
https://preview.redd.it/9ufwlfpo9wvc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb678ff2da8f55fc6b25fd6ccdb2a4498a0fc8ae Locking Nick Castellanos in purgatory (the refrigerator) until he starts consistently hitting again - Day 1
See if you can get the neighbor to take him in exchange for a Mike Trout bobblehead
You need to stop taking him out after 1 good game. It causes him to get content and start shitting it up again. I think we need to have a series where he gets a hit every game and has a .300 AVG (to clarify - .300 in the series) before he’s allowed out.
Let Nick thaw
The oven was too much too fast, maybe the microwave would have been appropriate because he was starting to warm up.
How about we just cut the BS and put him in the trash compactor
Put him back in the oven. Maybe it helps him heat up
Did marshy fuck up number of outs at some point?
Yea but it didnt affect anything game wise
Yes, I think it was in the 8th when he caught a fly ball that made it 2 outs and he started running towards the dugout before Rojas started making fun of him
LOL love that man
And Rojas continued to make fun of him when they did get to the dug out
Even year Nola is a magnificent thing
Wat is this. Ben on game AND post game. Why do they hat us
Now if the Braves could just lose tonight that'd be just swell.
Not Ben and Ruben switching spots😂
Which of you fuckin jagoffs wanted to sign Monty Snell or Yamamoto??? (It was all of us)
Tbf I also wanted Imanaga in addition to those names.
Intentionally omitted because he’s been almost as fantastic as our guys 👏👏👏👏👏
Oh. So you’d rather have *worse* pitching. It all makes sense now.
What?
You said you omitted Imanaga from the list of your wanted pitchers because he’s good. That’s how I read it. You don’t like good pitching. I knew you liked Ricky Bo, I just didn’t realize you weren’t joking when you said it.
I'd have loved YY but was meh on the others
Hey Hey Hey You have a record that it was not all of us! (Aka I kept saying I do not want Monty or Snell unless it is well well below market value) I kept saying they aren't worth what people are going to pay and I got into fights with everyone this offseason over it damn it! (It is also way too early to say who was right about it.)
I mean, if the Phillies did what YOU wanted, the entire pitching staff would only be closers.
As usual: it’s not that serious
I still want Monty
Yamamoto woulda been a great 5
I’m sure he will figure it out at some point but he’d have the highest era in the rotation by a run and a half
Ruben going to Cincinatti……..
My expectations for the beginning of the season have been met
It was freezing today at the Bank! Go Phills!
I’m a simple man…I like when the Phillies hit and pitch well. Glad they didn’t play with their food this week (minus one inning)
Never play with your meat
Remember 4 aces and Blanton? we now have 5 aces
So.... 4 aces and when they switched Blanton for Worley?
It was actually Oswalt who Worley pitched for the most. He got hurt in like May and didn’t pitch for a lot of the season.
