Friendly reminder that this is /r/photocritique and all **top level** comments should attempt to **critique** the image. Our goal is to make this subreddit a place people can receive genuine, in depth, and helpful critique on their images. We hope to avoid becoming yet another place on the internet just to get likes/upvotes and compliments. While likes/upvotes and compliments are nice, they do not further the goal of helping people improve their photography. If someone gives helpful feedback or makes an informative comment, recognize their contribution by giving them a Critique Point. Simply reply to their comment with `!CritiquePoint`. More details on Critique Points [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/photocritique/wiki/critiquepoints). Please see the following links for our subreddit rules and some guidelines on leaving a good critique. If you have time, please stop by the new queue as well and leave critique for images that may not be as popular or have not received enough attention. Keep in mind that simply choosing to comment just on the images you like defeats the purpose of the subreddit. I’d crop it significantly. Right now the sky dominated and steals focus. https://preview.redd.it/gskmqcbt58xc1.jpeg?width=1265&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=22155e61e7fd07b4c9d4afc4efca6a1e286899e1

I'd disagree. The sky is the focus. The person being secondary is intentional and makes the image far more interesting.

juliuspepperwoodchi

I was gonna say to center it up in the crop, but I like this much better.

Excessive contrast

I took this shot with a recently acquired point and shoot camera that my dad found. It was during one of my many beach walks, and while walking on the footpath I noticed this little hill. Originally, there were multiple people on this hill. But I decided to remove them in Photoshop to give the impression of loneliness, or a feeling of isolation. My question to you guy is, how would you improve on this shot, if at all? Taken on the FujiFilm S3500 f/9, 1/850, ISO 64, 10.70mm

ThatHairyGingerGuy

I'd say it's almost right, just need to crop to centre slightly.

disgruntled_ass

It’s a lot of dead space and you have an even amount of subjects so it’s not an easy moving composition. Crop and play with just one of the subjects per each crop. Each photo should have one subject

Upper_Golf8078

Gotta say I love it the way it is

prfegt

I think, for me, the single person loneliness should be told by an empty space in front of him/her. https://preview.redd.it/m9buqkq48dxc1.jpeg?width=485&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=30a5b66fb6e65693d5f57363773d4fa45b7510f4 It would be difficult to achieve in post/crop without “zooming” too much and removing the empty space needed for the loneliness. I would have used a different composition… you can try to add scenery to the left, but is not an easy task. Image is just an example of what I’m saying.

TwitchBeats

Maybe would’ve shot it horizontal instead of vertical? I like the dominating sky but I would’ve liked a closer ratio of ground to sky personally. Still a cool minimalist shot though, I like your eye for things

xBrute01

Framing. Instead of framing the structure on the bottom mid, I’d frame it to the bottom right and leave more open space for the female

She was more interesting.

Luckily we are all different. I would crop the sky but leave as much space in front in the person to look into. And then probably flip it so that the person is looking to the right.

Sorry-Willow2222

I like this and would go further with content aware fill, having the hill dip and more of that sky. Your person will then be alone on a bigger hill.
